Pumpkin is a reseller. Joying appears to be a manufacturer. These are RK3066/RK3188 based head units.
More information can be had here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2660662.

I bought that one but with the 1024x600 screen resolution and it works great. If I were buying again, I would upgrade to the RK3188 quad core and 1024x600 resolution version.

Mine works great! No downsides really. Audio sound is good when you adjust the equalizer. Bluetooth sound is ok. A little slow to boot but it is ok with me. I use pre-rooted ROM from Malaysk and add Apex launcher.
Only small issue is when listening to music, starting another app, like GPS, causes the sound to be choppy for a few seconds. This might be fixed with your quad core.

Check out this thread about this unit.

You're better off with the INTEL unit. Lots of cool stuff happening with that right now, including custom recovery, and replacement for all of their horrid software.
No telling yet what, if any of that, will carry through to PX5 (which also, despite being 8 cores, is 8 very very WEAK A53 cores).
Just ask yourself why they're charging LESS for the "new PX5" units than the old Intel ones....
Looks like a standard MTCD to me. The software looks identical except for the joying launcher app which would just copy over.

Does the PX5 unit have standby/resume, or some type of instant on? I did not see this mentioned on the page.
Does it have active cooling, or will thermal throttling still be an issue (as with the sofia)?
Will there be an 7" VW unit also? Some people want buttons on their radio
expecially the people who dont have steering wheel buttons. The touch screen is hard to manage while driving

For VW special unit,we only make 9'' without buttons now,we will make other size in the future, now we have Bluetooth steering wheel control,it is very convenient to use when driving, and it can support all of JOYING head unit
Does it support RDS-AF? Your joying intel units don't support that. It is completely incorrect implemented.
Does it support rds-txt? Your joying intel units support it terribly bad, as it is mixed in an 8 byte string together with RDS-PS where the RDS-PS text always has priority over the rds-txt text.

New Joying PX5 units

Looks like our friends at Joying released their PX5 units. They seem pretty snappy and some units even include a DVD unit ?. Question... Anyone bought yet? What amp chip are they using and is it better than the Intel ones? How would it compare to the Xtrons 4GB PX5 unit? Would that be better? Not familiar with their support of their units...

Nah...the new px5 performance wise is a hair slower than the Intel. Still runs hot too. Plus with the custom ROM on the Intel units, way better. Google assistant works now, even Alexa.
And we have Xposed on the Intel units.
If you have to choose, go with the joying Intel unit I would say. And Android 8.0 on some of the newer units...what for? To slow things down? Maybe Android go...but not yet.

Newbie needs advice :)

Hi all,
I'm totally new here and have no experience with android HU's at all!
I recently bought a Skoda Octavia (2012) with a RNS315 in it. It seems the navigation updates are quiet expensive and the navigation itself is not that good I think. So I started looking for an other device.
I would love to keep basic functions as: PDC, airco, maxidot, steer wheel controls,...
My eyes felt on the Joying android HU's, especially the ones with the look as the VM130N2. This device still have some buttons on it, which is handy in the car I think.
This model exist in the Intel Atom X3 version and the Rockchip PX5. Is the last one the better choice? (newest version I guess)
Or are there other brands that are better for (almost) the same price?
I've read the Joying HU can use some extra cooling, but installing a fan isn't that big problem I think.
Does these units display the name of the radio station on the screen? Or only the frequency?
Thanks in advance!
By trading your RNS for Joying you'll surely get better navigation, but you are going to miss:
- sound quality
- radio reception quality
- Maxidot integration (no navi guidance at all)
- overall quality/integrity
But again the whole Android world will be at your disposal. I traded my RNS510 for Joying and did not have a temptation to get it back despite all Joying's flaws.
Other brands that are better for sound quality? (Pumpkin, Eonon,...)
The Joying HU are on Android 6 others are on Android 8, isn't it a shame to buy an older system now? Or no problem at all to update to the newest Android software?

If you buy a Sony you definitely have better sound quality.
If you buy a Joying, buy the one without the internal amplifier, for example the VM130N2 you mention and NOT the VM130N2D. You better use an external amp to improve the sound.
I have a Joying VM130N2 and would buy either a Joying or Dasaita back.
Atom X3 (Sofia 3GR) is slightly faster than PX5, but the PX5 is 8-core. In the case of multi-threading apps (actually only Google apps), more cores might be useful on a "loaded" system. Even though the PX5 is an underperforming CPU and not better than an Atom X3, it still is the future for the coming 1-2 years as every supplier is abandoning the PX3 and Sofia 3GR, and switching to PX5.
If you want to run custom ROMs, you better choose a Joying or Witson Sofia 3GR (gtx made a very good custom rom) or a PX5 mtcd to be able to use the Malaysk custom ROM. The Joying PX5s are non-mtcd units and therefore incompatible with the Malaysk ROM.
And w.r.t. Android 8: Choose very carefully. Some units are really running 6 or 7 and only have the look & feel of Android 8.
What do you think about the Dasaita HA2137-V840? Should have a better internal amp (don't know if it's true, or just publicity). Have had external amps in my car before, but don't want it in my "new" car.
Probably the dasaita isn't a PX5 mtcd?

My $0.02. Skip the Chinese head units. I've been through 5 of them in the last 10 years. First was a single din media player. It died after 3 years. Second was an ebay purchase of a Windows CE with IGO in 2011ish. Seller said it had GPS--it didn't. Then the screen died sitting on the shelf when I tried firing it up a few years later. Next I bought a Windows CE with GPS unit lasted 3 years till till DVD player died in 2015. Then the res of the unit/screen died on the shelf after trying it a few years later. Then in 2015, I got an android allwinner A13 single core 4.04/8gb storage/1gb ram. The unit died after 2 years. Plus it was so slow and under-powered, that it was a waste of time to use. Then I bought a Joying intel sofia unit in 2017 January. It was pretty good unit until it stopped working. The screen started flaking out intermittently on and off after 9 months. Joying admitted they had a fault but that they fixed it the manufacturing process but the solder joints needed repair from too many heating/cooling cycles.
I'm done with this generic Chinese junk. These units simply are not weather resistant for long term exposure to the elements in the car, and they lack decent cooling. All of this is aside from various complaints of buggy software implementations.
So I bought a Pioneer unit head unit with Android auto, and so far quite happy with it.

Look at the AMP chip. In the Joyings it is a TDA7388. Some other brand units come with a TDA7850 chip and sometimes with a Pioneer PA2030A.
Those are much better.
The Dasaita HA2137-V840 does have the TDA7850 and a better radio chip than the joyings (that is also why I mentioned that I might buy a Dasaita back. All chinese units are definitely not top-quality, but the Dasaita is slighly better).
I have really no idea whether it is an MTCD unit. Please ask Dasaita directly via mail, either via AlieExpress of via their own site www.hot-audio.com

Yeah, well. My brother bought a pioneer Android unit (can't remember which one). He had to wait 1½ year before they fixed the bluetooth issues.
So much for Pioneer. It is a mixed bag everywhere until you buy a unit of at least 750 euros/dollars.

I second that. Chinese Android head units may be a suitable upgrade for older cars but are no match for recent OEM units. And most recent OEMs include Android Auto/CarPlay support which renders manufacturer navi useless.
In your particular case, the RNS315 doesn't seem to have that but there seems to be a direct replacement, the RCD 330 Plus, that keeps all previous functionality and adds AA/CP connectivity.

Best 2 Din 10.1 inch Android Radio

Which are the best options for a 10.1 inch android 2 din head unit?
Seen a few options between Joying or Xtrons? Does anybody recommend a specific model from either of these brands?
Only real preferences is how deep the front screen panel sticks out. Keep it to a minimal, or make it rotatable.
Any recommendations?
ALSO! Plus points for how much support there is out there for the model, either from the manufacturer or through the XDA forums.

In terms of XDA support I think your best bet is a MTCD/MTCE PX5 unit. Great custom roms, utilities and customisation.

Have any links to units?
Do many double din unit have an audio in port/wiring? Ive read I'll need it to keep my factory fitted reverse sensors working
Have a look at units by Eonon or XTRONS. - I believe if you get a unit customised for your car that it includes a module to retain stock functions like that.
You’ll want the new joying intel based head units they just came out with. They have a new dsp chip in it that will make a massive difference in audio. They also have 4G for them too. They have optical Spdif digital audio output as well.
I heard the new Joying don't have fast boot though. Can anyone confirm?
I'm looking for the best double-din out there right now myself. Any direction would be helpful. Thanks.

I ended up with this Eonon unit in the end:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07J2RNNQF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Seems ok so far, the screen is rotatable too.
However, if i may return it and get the joying 4GB Octacore unit instead.
Does anybody have it? And any photos of how much it protrudes out the dash?

Comparation between 2 Eonon units

Hello mates,
I want to buy 2din android head unit for Mazda 6 GH 2009. Via Eonon website I can find 2 models almost similar and I don't know wich one is more powerfull, so the two options are :
1) Eonon GA9198B - PX5 1.5GHz Cortex A53 Octa-core 4GB DDR3
2) Eonon GA9298B - Rockchip PX30 1.5GH Cortex A35 Quad-Core 2GB 2GB RAM
I know is a huge difference between 2 and 4 GB ram but I don't know anything regarding those two cpus ... Any Ideea ?
Also will be much apreciated if you sugest other head unit better then those two mentioned.
Hey! I definitely recommend the PX5 over the PX30 - the PX5 is faster, more established and has lots of support on XDA. Have a look in the MTCD forum if you want to know more about these units.
I have an Eonon GA2171S which is PX5 and it is great, and there are lots of mods available. I definitely recommend installing Hal9k 3.1 ROM for full functionality.

I take it you mean the GA2175? See my previous post - PX5 is faster and has much better support here at XDA for mods etc. I'm not aware of any ROMs for PX30, while PX5 has Hal9K 3.1 which really fixes all the shortcomings of these types of units.

Yes GA2175, i saw your post and i'm not interested in rom availabilty as yet so thats no issue. Was wondering if i would be disappointed with it over a 2170/2170B, 2175 is currently $214 versus 2170B $274. Fitting kit for my canbus Landrover was $185 which has killed the budget a bit.
Ok fair enough, the PX30 will be a little slower, but in all there won't be a lot of difference. Screen and components will mostly be identical. Out of interest why are you getting a canbus fitting kit?
Couldn't you find a unit which fits your vehicle?

Oh ok, yeah the ones which are made to fit certain cars generally already have the canbus functionality so don't need a fitting kit. What model land rover is it? I can see some for a 2007-2012 Freelander 2 like this:
