Low volume problem - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm having a problem with sound. When I reboot I have to connect earphones instantly - if I connect it too late, the volume boost is extremely low. I can compare 1/3 of normal volume to maximum of the bar after loss of gain. I have to reboot my device everytime I want to listen to music, because the volume is so low. I have stock ROM, switching between kernels haven't fixed the issue.

[Q] Volume changes after some events

This one has been bugging me for a while and for the most part I've just worked around it (by manually triggering the bug/fix myself first).
The situation is that X1 starts off at a particular volume level, and I start listening to music via PocketPlayer though from what I can tell it happens regardless. It sounds "ok", but noticeably flat? I dunno like a mono audio file even volume turned up, although I can't confirm that. Just describing.
OK the bug - if some kind of event happens, the volume suddenly jumps up, without actually changing the setting. So I'll be listening to music and if one of the following occurs:
1. receive or send an SMS/MMS
2. I toggle the phone function, i.e. turn off phone radio. when I turn it back on the volume doesn't change
the volume jumps up, and I have to say the music sounds much better. On the flip side, when the phone happens to ring, it's loud as hell, distorts like hell and annoys everyone in the process. The ringtone volume just sounds over-the-top.
Now I'm pretty sure it's not the music player because #2 (toggling the phone) seems to affect the volume already. The message box alert sound on toggling the phone seems louder the second time.
Anyone have or notice this issue?
The only volume threads I find are all about a low constant volume and don't sound like this one. FWIW I did try the reg changes anyway. It still varies.

Huge volume jumps when adjust volume in call?

I am on the latest Trigger (Rom) and have had the same problem since build 12.
Basically my in-call volume (only while in call) has these massive jumps when adjusting the volume.
It sounds the like the following (highest to lowest) while using headset.
- Too low, too low, too low, Loud, Too loud, Ear Shattering +
The red flag, since build 12 was a crackling sound is heard where the headphones are inserted.
I have tried different Roms and this is where I am most happy. I posted in the the forum section with no real luck.
I tried the paid version of Voodoo sound and it adjusted the music volume but it seemed no changes were made to in call sound.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
The only thing I can think of is if you are holding the volume button then it will fly to min or max. Try single pressing the volume up or down. Just a thought.
Yeah, I noticed the same problem today while on the phone. Didn't really think too much of it, but its def a rom problem if you are also having the issue on redux.

Volume at maximum after reboot

Problem reproduced like this:
1. I set my media volume to 0 (mute).
2. I reboot my phone (exynos vers).
3. My media volume will be at maximum when using any app (games, youtube, mxplayer, etc) although the slider will still show 0 volume.
4. Pressing volume down on the physical button will not decrease the volume (the slider will keep showing volume at 0). I can only mute the volume again by pressing volume up first (the volume then immediately becomes lower) followed by pressing down again.
5. The volume will not reset to maximum again until I reboot my phone.
Anyone experienced this problem or know what could be causing it? It's driving me crazy!!
Thanks.
EDIT: I have done more testing and this behaviour only happens when the volume is set to zero before reboot. If the volume is set to anything else, it remains at that level correctly after reboot.
Yup its a bug that annoys the crap out of me.
Exact same, i reboot a few times in a day depending what am doing with the device.
I always listen to music while i work.
If bluetooth fails to connect, Music blurs out the handset even though it was on silent.
Pressing the rocker up and down re-set it back to vibrate.
But really annoying

Yeah annoys the crap out of me. I didn't even figure out it was because of the reboots until today. Are you on stock? Rooted?

Really low notification volume when wired headset plugged in (stock image)

Longtime Android user here, with a Shiny New Verizon S7, stock (Android 6.0.1, model SM-6930V). However, I have an odd issue. I have the volumes for the various events set per my preferences. None are at full volume, and they all play at my preset volumes.
However, if I plug in a wired headset (connect it to the aux input jack in my car), notifications are really quiet as if at the lowest setting, regardless of the volume level I actually had set. If I'm playing music (say, Pandora) when a notification fires, the music volume is automatically lowered as usual, but the notification sound is low. Music returns to normal once the notification sound has finished playing.
If, while plugged in, I go to the volume settings, the sliders are where I left them. If I move the notification volume slider around, it doesn't change the notification volume (unless I slide it to 'off', where it does turn the volume all the way down).
I've downloaded a few different apps to try to fix this, to no avail.
Odd, and frustrating, behavior.
Has anyone seen this, or have any ideas? It's a company phone, so I can't root it. :-/
Bueller...?

Get full volume on Global version of Axon 7.

Hi, I noticed the other day a way to get duplicated the volume in a AXO 7, I have a global version (europe). Here is what I do:
First, I only manage to do it with Poweramp alpha. You need to have any headphone with remote plugged, ensure the hi-fi mode is on, set volume at 30 or 40%, then play from Poweramp, volume will be low, pause with the headphone remote, and play again with the headphone remote, and the volume literally double.
It might be a glitch, but for some reason when you pause and unpause with the remote of the headphones, the volume increase a lot, first time I almost damaged my ears, as the volume was already set to 80%, I needed to reduced it to 40%.... I tried this already with a Sony mdr-1a and RHA-750, with both happened the same.
Hope it helps.
