Hi Guys,
I think I pressed advanced wipe on TWRP and it deleted my operating system.
How can I get my phone back to stock Lollipop if possible ?
Thank you
Flash stock rom via Odin or restore your Nandroid backup via TWRP .

TWRP is still there, so you can install a custom ROM from in there (if you don't have a full backup (nandroid) to use) The Advanced Wipe comes up with all options unticked - which ones did you tick? All of them? If it was only system your data is still on the Internal SD and Data sections so you may want to do a backup of at least Data to your extSDCard from TWRP before anything else.

How Much does nandroid actually store?
I'backed up my rooted 4.3 state with CWM.
I then flashed with the 4.4 google edition kitkat rom
If I try and restore from my previous backup in this state will it work or do have to re-flash with 4.3 before I try and restore from the CWM nandroid backup??

CWM is good, but i prefer use TWRP or Philz Touch (coz is updated and have more options). If u did a FULL nandroid backup (boot, system, data, cache, recovery and EFS) I dont think u will have problems:
- Go to CWM
- Make full wipe (system, data, cache and dalvik cache)
- Reboot in CWM
- Restore the 4.3 backup
- Enjoy it again :highfive:

Ok this didn't go quite as easily as you suggested.
I did a standard backup with CWM (not sure if that included cache end EFS)
I did a full wipe and then restored my 4.3 backup.
This just resulted with it hanging at the Samsung text on boot.
I've managed to get back to where I started with a backup I made kitkat.
I'd be happy to stay with kitkat but I have no sms (messaging app dies as soon as it's launched)
Do I need to get hold of the stock firmware and do this via odin??
If so can anyone point me towards a good link for the stock Samsung firmware for the GT-I9505 S4??
Thanks in advance,
mbenson1000

If you want a stock from samsung here you go.Sammobile
I have replaced the framework files in the system... rebooted the phone and got many errors... can't even view anything in the phone.
Do I solve the problem by installing the bootloader and Modems XXUFNC9 by odin3?
Do I lose my files by installing this?
If this worked, would I be able to do a backup using recovery mode?
Thanks in advance
you can use your phone again after flashing stock firmware and wiping data & cache
you will lose any data
I dont recommend that you do a backup in this status because you missed the phone up
always do Nandroid backup when the phone is clean !
if you have a previous backup you can restore it

so there's no way to restore my files?!
go to recovery then do a custom backup and choose data & cache (dont select any other option) and hit start backup
then after flashing & wiping flash a custom recovery and go to custom restore and choose data & cache
and hit start restore
your phone should work with previous apps
make sure to backup in SD CARD !

then select everything instead of the SYSTEM then start backup
after that wipe data & cache
then flash stock firmware via Odin
then wipe data & cache
then flash a custom recovery
then go backup and restore > restore from /storgae/sdcard1 and select the folde qnd hit start
everything should be ok

Dear forum members,
Im having issues with writing to my internal sd card, here the descripption of what i did:
I installed the rom Phronesis v6.2, everything was working perfectly until I realized that xposed was missing, I decided to install it by flashing the xposed-v80-sdk22-arm, unfortunately I got a boot loop so i decided to go back to my original stock rom (4.4.2) restoring a nondroid backup.
The problem is that after restoring it seems that I lost writing privileges to my internal sd card, using es file explorer shows that the storage/emulated/0 folder is empty, but it displays that is using 16 gb from 26. Using the stock “my files” the folders are displayed but I cannot copy anything to it (failed to copy). Applications in general work (some force closes) but I cannot save any settings
If I connect the phone to a pc, i cannot copy any files from the computer to the internal or external sd cards, however I can copy from the external sd to the computer.
I tried to format clear cache etc and restore again but the issue persists.
Can anyone be so kind and try to help me figure out a possible solution?
Thanks in advance

1. Go to your custom recovery and wipe all (system, data, dalvik).
2. Reboot in DOWNLOAD MODE and flash the ORIGINAL STOCK android 4.4.2 firmware via ODIN.
3. Root your device and flash via ODIN the custom recovery again.
4. Restore your nandroid backup.
5. Done. Good luck :highfive:
Hello Joku,
Thanks a lot for the reply, i fixed the issue by formatting the internal sd, wiping all (system, data, dalvik) and then restoring the nandroid backup, now all works.
Thanks again!

Stick to S7
Also do not forget to make a backup in TWRP might save you a lot of hassle if one flash goes wrong

it is not reccomended to do this (its called a dirty flash) you can choose to do this anyway when installing a custom ROM most of them come with an option in the AROMA installer letting you do a fresh wipe or "dirty flash" it will just install the ROM over your current leaving your settings/apps there. Or if there is no AROMA installer with the rom just dont do a wipe before you install. no need to restore using a backup
dirty flash should be fine if you are upgrading ROMS to a later version but you should always check the thread if that is okay. you may run into problems if its a huge update.

heres some info on EFS > http://www.naldotech.com/galaxy-s7-s7-edge-backup-restore-efs-imei-partition/
recovery is TWRP itself
system is the ROM
Data is your apps etc..
a standard backup is already seleted in TWRP which is
Boot / System / Data
you may as well backup EFS as well its only a few Kb

A bundle of thanks mate. Thumbs up
Hi.
I have huge problem. I have Redmi Note 7 with xiaomi.eu (Last stable MIUI 10 version). Today I decided to update it to latest version (MIUI 11). Before it, I made backup via TWRP and then perform update. Update successfull. I thought that I prefer MIUI 10 so in TWRP perform wipe dalvic and cache and make restore backup. Backup succesfull. But... System wont boot up. In TWRP I cant see internal storage (0MB), TWRP ask for decryption password but the password from unlocking phone doesnt work. I dont know what to do. I dont want to lose my data. I found info that OrangeFOx recovery could be helpful so I flashed OrangeFox recovery. But it also ask for password.
Help please.

You're out of luck. You need to format your data partition - and you will lose your data and all the contents of your internal storage.

Is there any way to backup storage eg. via adb or something and try later to restore it?
EDIT
I performed wipe, install latest android. Data is gone. I found some windows apps to restore data after factory reset via adb. I'll try this in next week

PS: if your original MIUI 10 backup included /data, then you should be able to restore the data after formatting, flashing a fresh copy of the MIUI 10 ROM, booting the ROM, and then, booting back to recovery and restoring the data backup. But the content of your internal storage is gone forever (if you didn't back it up before).
Unfortunately I lost all my data (mainly photos). I'll buy microsd to store data and backups.
