Hi all
I've just found and checked solution for many of you who BRICKED they loved TG.
I did it on TG01, dont have TG01A - so this have to be checked by owners.
I bricked my TG 5 times to be sure its working
Needed tools: http://u.115.com/file/f7fcb79872
TG software
TGTool 1.3
TG Downloader
TG drivers
TG have to be DISCONNECTED from PC!!!!
1. You need to be sure you have charged battery.
Use fried TG or some external charging solution.
2. Install TG Downloader
Before you will install application be sure that TG is NOT CONNECTED to PC.
Install Downloader and click next. Application should install TG01W drivers.
3. Prepare bin file.
tgtool -dec TG01WP_5005000176.tsw tg01.bin
3. Open Downloader as adimi (Vista)
4. Click on Browse and select tg01.bin. App will inform you about problem with version but accept.
Now connect your TG with charged battery to PC. Windows should start install drivers and new device Toshiba DL and some ports. After installatin click "Change Port" at Downloader and choose "Toshiba Download Port" and click "Download Mode". App will inform "Faild to open port" click OK and click "Downloade Mode" again. On status bar app will inform Done and LED on TG will start to be white.
Click on "Start Download" and go to make small coffe. TG's LED will start to blink on many colours and its correct.
Wait till appp restart your TG.
And you loved device is working again.
Have nice day

Thank so much Laserek_Poland, but your link is invalid, please check again.
Great!!!
If this method works then can it be applied for other things?
Yeah the link is no longer valid, if possible you or FFBoy could repost the file/or complete set of files it would be great, the fear of flashing would be over for most of us
Depends what do you need.
Generally its to up broken TG.
As for SW will make my 4shared and will share
I deleted my setup and asked ff... to share application he downloaded.

Where did you find it, any clue?
yay, it's my birthday.
Oké first of all, I have my XDA account longer than I have my first smartphone.
So I'm really new to all this.
For the last few day's I've tried to connect to KIES with the leaked JPU firmware (Darky's v5.2 Gingerbread Edition).
I finally made this script which saves me all the hassle in changing the settings and going to TouchWiz Launcher because that´s where you need to be for KIES to work.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDeLvmMzUdQ
Phone NEEDS to be in USB debugging mode for some reason..
Have no clue why, hope you can give me tips and feedback to get my coding skills on
I should learn Java as well because I won't come very far using the terminal in this way I suppose xD
Put script in /sdcard/sgstools/
Run script through sgstools (free in the market)
Inspired by thomas_d_j
Thank's this method its ok for me.
and.... Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday...
worcks at me too nice job

works great - thanks!
Very Good! All other methods can Suc k it~ well done and happy bday!
Well done, great attempt for being new to the smartphone community.
Happy birthday btw.
Happy Birthday
Will this only work on the Darky's v5.2 Gingerbread Edition, or is there a way to get this working on the stock JPU firmware?
The original script is from the stock JPU thread, you can go there by the link in the first post. Just click on thomas_d_j who came up with the solution in the first place. If you are using the TouchWiz launcher, you'll probably won't need my script and thomas_d_j's will be sufficient. It works on stock JPU though.
Thanks, I just tried it and now I can connect to Kies just fone Good job!
Happy birthday. Will try it and will give a feedback. Hope it will work.
hi thanks for the fix.
i put the JPU_Kies_Connect_Fix_JIP.txt in my internal sd card
boot up sgstools and apply script, but theres no JPU_Kies_Connect_Fix_JIP.txt found!
btw. what barcode above? if i need it inorder to do this, then i am ****ed, coz my barcode scanned not working
This will help a lot of people who use Kies to backup their contacts & sms.

The text file needs to be at a specific folder on sdcard. Just search.
The qr code posted only brings up text contained in the text file you downloaded.

You need to put the txt files in /sdcard/sgstool/
Good question though.
I juse ZXing as QR code scanner.
As ragin said the QR code will only show you the script,
it's the same as the txt file.
Hope this helps.
Happy birthday for the other day,and thank you for your work, well done!!!

theres probably an easier way , but i logged into this thread on my phone and downloaded the script that way .
then i found it in my files then copied it into sgstools.
then i ran it through sgstools.
one question though , do you have to rerun the script after every reboot ? seems like it here

Yes this is a temporary fix which you have to apply every time you want to connect to KIES.
After a reboot the changes will be gone, except for the USB settings.
They'll stay as the script have set them to be, if you do not change them manually. after the script has been ran.
Did it work for you and do you have any idea to make it better?
Hi,
i'm new in this and have one question.
I updated to JPU and Kies don't run anymore. Now i downloaded the sgstool and the script. Do i have to root my phone first? Or can i do the steps w/o rooting the phone?
If i have to root, any link for a "good" root incl. tut.?
Thanks a lot!
Yes you have to have root access.
So since you've updated to JPU I suppose you've used Odin?
Download CF-Root
Unzip it.
Open Odin, choose the file you've just extracted (.tar file) as PDA in Odin.
Put your phone in Download mode.
Connect your phone, wait until Odin says it's Added and flash.
Now you've rooted your phone.
Very easy
Hi All,
This is all information from other threads, but I thought i'd share here too as I and an SGS2 user.
Currently, I am running CM9 and now have USB mass storage working fine How?
1. Flash Siyah Kernal for ICS
2. Install this app: USB Mass Storage for ICS
When you open the app, give it root access. Then, you'll have access to USB Mass storage. Thanks to gokhanmoral's awesome kernel & Bexton's awesome app
If it's not working after those two steps, you may be required to also flash THIS init script, made flashable by desean, originally generated by VAXXi
EDIT: New app version here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24084600&postcount=113 that enabled USB mass storage on both drives internal and external Updated first link.

Hey - no, didn't need the init script, it just worked on CM9 and Siyah. I've included it as it's also great work and may help others not running CM9 (maybe issues on other AOSP builds?)
But as in OP, it only works currently on internal storage fr me, not external. Trying to find out why now. In meantime, I use Android Commander to transfer to external.
And you're using CM9 0326? That's very strange...Maybe I should reflash everything.
Edit: Hmm...It works now after I installed a different version of this app. Thanks for the help!
Yup, all good now, found then other app version myself here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24084600&postcount=113 updated first post
app worked fine at first but after a reboot it crashed swiftkey x couldn't load language packs...after removing the app and rebooting again swiftkey worked again
any clue what caused that?
So I used a HTC One X for two years and I used it a lot as a Dropbox synced external USB mass storage device, so am kinda interested in getting my S4 doing the same thing. Pretty much out of the box I left it updating and it's now a shiny S4 running 4.4.2.
Sadly, after the update it seems that it is somewhat crippled.
Apparently, the thing to use is USB mass storage enabler, for which it needs root. So I rooted using Autoroot (and triggered Knox 0x1) and installed Busybox, which is all working well. I also found that apps cant write to the SD Card, so I fixed that too....
However, all the different ways I have tried the USB mass storage app, the best I can get is an empty USB drive.
I've trawled through a series of other threads and blogs, but they all seem to recommend using the same applications and techniques, which seems not to be working for me.
Any other suggestions greatly received.

I have made shortcuts of the scripts from SManager on my Home page so that I can press one to enable and other to disable it. have fun...

not working, it gives a message "no such file or dircetory" and phone appears as an empty cd-drive.
Thanks to jjdoctor. Works like a charm. I have a Samsung S9505, Kitkat 4.4.2, rooted with Knox 0x1.
I installed SManager from google play.
I downloaded the scripts to /storage/emulated/0/documents/scripts/massstorage
I opened SManager and navigated to the above script directory.
I selected the "Mass Storage" script.
I enabled "su" (green skull and crossbones second from left) and "bg" (looks like an &, second from right)
I selected "run"
Black screen with lines of text (it's a terminal) and it then appeared as a USB Mass Storage device.
Even does not dismount it from Android, which is nice. I hate to think how that's gonna blow up in my face at some indeterminate point in the future. Almost tempted to add some conditions so I can use it as a toggle.... but for now its awesome.

cd storage
cd emulated
cd legacy
cd Script
exec sh UMS (*I renamed the file UMS)

Hi @ all ,
I ask the question becasue unable to find the answer ..
i just need to change the download location of my browser (chrome or adblock) to external sd card .
But cannot find any information about this .
Can someone help me ???
if no usual option existing , my phone is rooted .
Thanks a lot .
I don't think you really can.
Even if you are using the same browser as on your PC, on a phone you have limited functionality.
However, you can manually move the downloaded files on your SD card (it sounds stupid, but I can't actually think of anything else).

Thanks for taking the time to answer . The issue is that the file i'm downloading are too big for my internal SD . that why i need to have them downloaded directly to my ext sd.
I can't believe there is no way to do this...but thanks for the effort !

If possible for you to download Samsung Internet it's easy!
Start internet>settings>advanced> and save content to sd card ... or use the usb-c to usb adapter that came with the phone and use external HDD.
Seems not possible in chrome now.

maybe a stupid question, but why dont you install any kind of download manager from the play store? This way, every time you download something you get asked where you want to save the file. And this would work in any browser

And I have yet another stupid question. Why don't you download that file from your PC and then copy it on your SD card, which you can later insert it in your phone. Or use G drive (or Dropbox) app to download it and access it on your phone.

Or you use a browser with an integrated download manager like dolphin. I think opera is also asking where to save downloaded files.

Because i m using 4 g networks to download , and i have no pc with me when i m on journey ( i use 4 g network when i am in big cities to download huge files when i got good networks , usually virtual machine for my work , then i use them at home on my pc to work, so i do the exact inverted process cause of poor adsl connection compare to 4G).
Bu tthanks to all got now lots of solutions :
Use opera mini
Use samsung internet
Use a download manager.
Thanks XDA !
It's not possible to control the download location of chrome on android as far as I know, but you could try using an app like Advanced Download Manager. It has it's own browser that allows full control over downloads and uses the SD card as the default download location.
