SELinux problems trying to use external cam in my app - Java for Android App Development

Hello,
I'm developing an application that uses an external usb webcam. Times before i used a galaxy S3 for testing and everything work ok. But i had to change the phone because need more power so im trying now with a LG G2 (D802) with android lollipop stock (rooted).
With this stock android 5.0.2 SELinux state is set to enforcing and have a lot of denials trying to use cameras. I tried to change state manually due devide is rooted with commands "su setenforcing 0" and "su system setenforcing 0". The first seems to do nothing and with the second i get an error: "Could not set enforcing status: Permission denied".
I tried also with selinuxmodechanger and get notification of the change but still getting denials.
I can't check actual status because can't found SELinux state in "about phone" like in others devices. But errors show a tag named permissive and has value 1. I think should be 0...
I attached a image of logcat with the error.
Any help i really appreciate.
Thanks.

I found that the problem is not related with SELinux state.
SELinux state is already permissive, but, i read on chainfire web that warnings about avc denials still appearing in logcat even when enforcing is disabled and are not blocking anything actually.
The problem seems to be a bug in usb libraries when using otg usb 1. I read on dmesg log that an allocation bandwith on usb bus for the camera is failling on initialization (Not enough bandwith to allocate altsetting 5 2048B/frame). So, i solve this problem using a usb 2.0 otg hub.
I think this can be helpful for someone.
thanks

Seems we can use the command of telnetd to do emergency rescue.
I write telnetd as shell script. It's only to execute bootmenu, if someone modify mot_boot_mode maybe cause bootmenu can't execute.
The telnetd will execute by eclair's init_mapphone30_umts.rc. But it's only can use bootmenu to execute adb to do some things (ex. modify mot_boot_mode).
These days, I try using 2ndboot, but still freeze on hbootmod, I don't know why we can't execute hbootmod.
I can't find anything solution, and can't get more message.
For me, it's hard to debug, I'm not kernel developer. I try to understand the source code of hbootmod, should stuck on do_branch.
But I still can't get any idea to solve this question.
Hope someone can complete it, let we can use new kernel.

In terms of audio recorder, following information may help:
Flipout uses Sample Rate '16KHz' or "22KHz" to record sound, NOT '44KHz'. This is why flipout cannot use skype >_<. If you guys are using a recorder that uses Sample Rate "44KHz" (which almost all recorders set as default Sample Rate), you have to change the setting.

Is This QWERTZ?
Should be QWERTY.
There are two files, ruthp0-keypad.kl and ruthp1-keypad.kl.
use this command
"cat /proc/device-tree/[email protected]/[email protected]/name"
My device get ruthp1-keypad.
If you want to use QWERTZ, you can try replace ruthp0-keypad.kl, ruthp1-keypad.kl, ruthp0-keypad.kcm.bin and ruthp1-keypad.kcm.bin.
Get from QWERTZ version.

Hi to all,
Thanks to all that are working on this rom.
Since both models are merged in the same post because the same hardware, I wonder if I can deploy this rom into a Motorola Charm, or if I got to make changes on code, I guess at least have to change some files where refers to 511 to 512, and where refers "Ruth" to "Charm".
What other changes should I do to make this model work?
Thanx for response.

[Q] Encrypt phone feature bugged on Defy starting from 4.0

Hi Guys,
Has anyone tried the encryption feature found in Security settings? I'm using a recent nightly CM11 from Quarx/Blechd0se (Thanks, brilliant work!) quite stably for days now, but fail to make the encrypt phone function work...
When fully charged and USB powered, which are requirements, the successive encrypt phone buttons end up on a green android picture. This screen misses text and a progress bar which should normally appear on top of the screen, as seen on some screenshots. Even left for several hours, nothing progresses and a simple press on back button cancels action immediately which proves nothing has been encrypted in the meanwhile.
Took a Catlog and the only interesting message is the following:
Code:
01-02 01:34:23.732 E/Cryptfs ( 1197): Cannot get size of block device
In case it helps, find attached the output of mount command : View attachment mnt.txt
Could you have a look / help me out? (add to bug list if it applies)
In fact, for me, this function needs to be activated for connecting to my professional mails ...
Thanks in advance! :good:
Cheers
Further tested...
Hello all,
Just some more info... I flashed back to Quarx' CM9 and quickly tested once more the encryption and face the same problem but I didn't catlog, neither checked the mounts... Then I flashed Epsylon3's CM9 and quickly checked with the same result too...
But then I checked at catlog and now I get another type of error... Which is interesting and maybe promising as I already read some posts about this message...
Code:
04-14 21:11:13.101 E/Cryptfs ( 2219): Orig filesystem overlaps crypto footer region. Cannot encrypt in place.
Problem seems to be more general than only Quarx/Blechd0se's CM11 but a friend uses a CM9 flavor on a Samsung Galaxy S and has encrypted the phone successfully...
All in all it's linked with the filesystem (block device or not), how it is formated (yaffs/ext3/ext4) and mounted (mount/mount_all)...
Some interesting reading on jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/CYAN-87 (not linked, I don't have 10 posts yet)...
Hope to find, test and come back with some more info soon...:fingers-crossed:
Cheers!

How to encrypt device w/o "Encryption" options (Huawei Y625-U51)

Hi, I have a Huawei Y625-U51 (Dual-SIM) running stock Android 4.4.2/EMUI 2.3 Lite and I would like to encrypt the device, but there are no Encryption options in "Settings > Personal > Security". Is there a way to make these options available or otherwise carry out a system encryption (i.e. using adb)?
Here's the about info to the device:
Model: HUAWEI Y625-U51
Android: 4.4.2
Secpatch-Lvl: 2015-11-01
EMUI: EMUI 2.3 Lite
Kernel: 3.4.0
Build-Number: Y625-U51V100R001C577B108
I already tried carrying out a factory reset but that didn't bring up the encryption options.
I'm well-versed with Windows/Linux system hacks but new to Android, so please bear with me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx.
Encrypt Huawei Y625 via rooting and shell commands
After reading up a few articles on different ways to start encryption from the command line in various Android versions, I decided to experiment and got lucky. Here's what I did (if you want to repeat these steps I suggest you attach your phone to the charging cable first. Also remember that this will likely void your warranty bla bla ) :
rooted the Huawei Y625 using kingoRoot
installed Android Terminal Emulator and ran it
Once inside the terminal I entered
Code:
su
setenforce 0
vdc cryptfs enablecrypto inplace <YourPasswordInCleartext>
(I'm not sure whether the 'setenforce' command that sets SELinux to permissive mode is actually necessary. However, this will only change runtime mode, so you needn't worry that it may persist over reboots).
The screen then immediately went blank. I had forgotten to attach the phone to the charging cable so I scrambled to find it and finally got the phone attached. But it looked pretty much dead now.
After nothing happened for another while, I pressed the start button. The screen remained blank but I got to hear the familiar boot melody. After a while (maybe 2 or 3 minutes) I pressed start again. This time, a message appeared "Wait while your phone is being encrypted" plus a slowly increasing percentage.
* When the encryption had finished, the phone booted up as usual, only this time the familiar melody and splash screen was interrupted by the message "Type password to decrypt storage"
Minor drawbacks:
The boot process is interrupted somewhat uglily in the middle of the melody and splash screen to ask for the encryption password
TouchPal's data transfer agreement pops up every time you start to enter the decryption password (presumably because the answer is written to the /data partition which is still and encrypted and therefore not available yet at this point)
Bigger drawback:
There is no way to change the encryption password using the GUI. You have to run 'vdc cryptfs changepw <YourPasswordInCleartext>' from a shell (Result should be "200 0 0"). That's a bummer if you want to enable encryption for someone reliant on GUI apps.
One last note: this being Android 4.4.2 there is no way to encrypt the whole system. The method described above will encrypt the userdata partition (mounted as /data) only.
P.S.: Sorry for not sharing article and app links, but xda anti-spam settings prevented me as a new user from posting links. So sorry for the missing convenience, but I'm sure you'll be able to find the apps mentioned yourself and as for the articles - they were interesting but relating to wildly different Android versions with different command syntax, so you're propably better off just following the steps above anyway

How do I set selinux to permissive ?

Current status of my Note 3
Root,Unlocked bootloader, twrp recovery and the firmware is OF1.
The reason I think I need permissive mode is because I am having problems with trying to get linux deploy to work.
From reading some posts I have gathered that selinux might be the problem.
To get into permissive mode I need to replace the kernel I think, how is permissive mode done ?
thank you.
The phantomOne kernel ("hlte-vzw" version) seems to be permissive. You can use it with the AryaMod ROM if you like.*
There are kernel build-time configuration option(s) determining whether SELinux is (a) disabled, (b) alterable by kernel boot arguments (or post-boot changes), or (c) permanently enabled and immutable, and finally (d) either permissive or enforcing. In the case of (b) the default (absent a kernel boot command line argument) could be either permissive or enforcing.
Some of the above combinations are not used in practice - e.g. it makes little sense to be immutable and permissive.
In any event, you would have to see the kernel build configuration files to know what the exact setup was (or the kernel has /proc/config.gz enabled).
Typically a vendor will use "permissive" as a stepping stone towards getting full-up immutable, enforcing SElinux running without problems: the kernel will issue violation warnings without enforcing the SElinux constraints, so that kernel logs can be used to diagnose improper setups of SElinux execution contexts (domains) and filesystem extended attributes on a live testing system.
* I'm on NC4 bootloader; ymmv.
W T F no write access to ext sd card as default ?
still poking about trying to figure out why the linux install script's dont work.
I have discovered that as a default programs or apps dont have the permissions to write to the extsdcard . The extsdcard is read only. I think that actually is my problem.
where do I look to perminatly change my permissions on my extsdcard to 777 for all users and groups.
does android have somthing like an fstab file or mounting options ??
If it's any encouragement to you, I got the "Linux deploy" app to work on
AryaMod6.6 + phantomOne kernel (permissive SELinux).
I had similar troubles creating the initial container on the /sdcard, and I'm pretty sure that was just operator error because the interface is not intuitive and of course I completely failed to RTFM. So, maybe the container creation issue has nothing to do with SELinux at all.
Useful hint: with a default "linux" (==debian jessie ARM) profile container, the default username for all the services (httpd, sshd, vnc) is "android", and the initial passwords are found in two different places: under the "Settings" menu pick for httpd and telnetd, and under the little "inbox" icon menu for the profile for sshd and vnc. I had to use "apt-get install tightvncserver" to get vncserver up and running from the ssh command line. ("sudo /bin/bash" first).
I had to log in to the phone via adb and do a " netstat -n -a | grep 'tcp.*LISTEN' " to convince myself the various servers were up. That helped a bunch. httpd on :5080, telnetd on :5023, vncserver on :5901.
good luck, I struggled with it.
What are you going to use this for? I suppose if you have access to a full native-ARM Linux environment, perhaps it is easier to build native tools against libc without the constraints of bionic and the NDK?

What I am trying to do is explore just how well I can really use this brilliantly wonderful device as my main computer. I have good reasons for this but there all related to my personal circumstances and I won't bore you with the details, sufice it to say that I am now living in a electricity/power scarce inviroment and a cell phone is about as power efficient as I can get and have reasonably powerfull hardware.
I had considered sbc's like the Rasb. pi but there are none that even come close to the capabilities of this phone.
GPS,wifi,cellular,acceleromiter etc.
In an Ideal world I could wipe android fully from the phone and load a distro of linux that fully supported all the hard ware of the note 3 giving me as fast and lean a computing enviroment to work with Or perhaps a duel boot configuration like grub boot either android or linux.
Phantom kernel and lss works great ..been going back and forth with the latest international roms since there's not too much happening on our Verizon forum.

[GUIDE]Enable VoLTE for unsupported carriers

Hi Let me introduce tutorial, how to enable VoLTE/VoWiFi for some other carriers. All credits goes to @Airpil for his great work with enabling diag port for Pixel 2 phones and to @topjohnwu for his original Magisk project.
UPDATE:
Here is another way by @Vortuks , how to get things working.
Code:
https://github.com/stanislawrogasik/Pixel2XL-VoLTE-VoWiFi
ANOTHER UPDATE:
On Android 11 you can use module VoLTE_enabler_pixel_2_v1_1.zip, but you will myabe need to use SeLinux permissive module too.
BIG UPDATE:
use only on PIE
for android 10 use solution with PDC tool
I created new magisk module with everything needed for enabling VoLTE. Just install VoLTE_enabler_pixel_2_v1_1.zip and enjoy.
this will work only, if there is proper *.mbn for your provider
sometimes is needed to remove/add module after updating monthly updates
sometimes is needed to toggle off/on enhanced 4g LTE mode and go to airplane mode and back
Prerequizites:
your carrier have to support this feature
and you have to enable this feature on operator's side
PC with windows
you must have some luck
Prepare your PC:
google for QPST_2.7.474 and install it
install provided drivers (if they willn't work, google for better)
from provided nokia_mbn_files.zip find the right mcfg_sw.mbn for your carrier, if there isn't any mbn for your carrier, you can try another one, but without warranty
Prepare your phone:
backup everything, what you can especially EFS partition - just for sure
root your phone with provided Magisk.zip
boot up your phone
In Magisk Manager app find and install VoEnablermodule, restart phone
there will be new settings under Settings-Network & internet-Mobile network-Advanced
connect phone to PC and set to charge only mod
in terminal emulator run this commands (this will enable diagnostic port on phone):
Code:
su
setenforce 0
setprop sys.usb.configfs 1 && setprop sys.usb.config diag,serial_cdev,rmnet_gsi,adb
Next steps:
find PDC tool from installed QPST and open
select device from drop-down menu, if it is empty, you will have to reinstall/choose another driver
click load button and find prepared mcfg_sw.mbn file
now right-click on new loaded profile and select SetSelectedConfig - Sub0
and now button Activate
activate provided VoEnabler module via MagiskManager
restart device
and now, if you are lucky one, your VoLTE is working :victory:
Final steps:
if everything is working, you should reinstall original Magisk from twrp
Troubleshhoting:
99,9% of all problems comes with wrong driver
open windows device manager and try to choose another driver for HW like:
Qualcomm HS-USB Modem 9091
Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9091
Qualcomm HS-USB WWAN Adapter 9091
Is it working?
dial *#*#4636#*#*
Phone information-3dots-IMS service status
If IMS Registration: Registered and Voice over LTE: Available you won
after update with factory images you will have to re-do this steps
Confirmed carriers:
Czech T-mobile
VoLTE - yes
VoWiFi - no
Poland Orange(confirmed by @saperkus)
VoLTE - yes
VoWiFi - yes
Poland Play(confirmed by @saperkus)

setenforce 0
setprop sys.usb.configfs 1 && setprop sys.usb.config diag,serial_cdev,rmnet_gsi,adb
Next steps:
find PDC tool from installed QPST and open
select device from drop-down menu, if it is empty, you will have to reinstall/choose another driver
click load button and find prepared mcfg_sw.mbn file
now right-click on new loaded profile and select SetSelectedConfig - Sub0
and now button Activate
and now, if you are lucky one, your VoLTE is working :victory:
Final steps:
if everything is working, you should reinstall original Magisk from twrp
Troubleshhoting:
99,9% of all problems comes with wrong driver

Qualcomm HS-USB Modem 9091
Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9091
Qualcomm HS-USB WWAN Adapter 9091
Is it working?
dial *#*#4636#*#*

Hi I am stuck at the terminal emulator step.
when i type in "setenforce 0" the terminal says "couldn't set enforcing status to '0' invalid argument"
i tried googling and tried some stuff but no luck.
Note: Is there something to do with the kernel coz i am on Sultan Kernel and not sure if its build for only enforcing or only permissive.
please get back to me ASAP.
thankyou

Hi, yeah, my mistake  You have to use "su" command first to allow root access. Full command is:
Code:
su
setenforce 0
setprop sys.usb.configfs 1 && setprop sys.usb.config diag,serial_cdev,rmnet_gsi,adb
And please, don't quote full first post

Hmm, should work? Try to write it, not copy... Try the other command without changing enfonforcing, it is maybe not necessary.

Interesting try to restart your phone, open windows device manager, connect phone (now should be detected some new hw), open terminal and write commands and look, if some new hw was detected or if you have some new unknown devices in device manager. You should also look to Airpil's thread for some help.
Code:

Will try this and update here
Successfully enable volte on my pixel2,Thanks!
Please provide carrier details in your post guys! With that being said, has anyone got it to work on Straight Talk (Verizon or ATT sim?)
Enable VoLTE for Vodafone in India
Vodafone in India has not provisioned the Pixel 2 till yet for VoLTE despite many people getting after them. A lot of noise was generated by users when Google pointed out that they had done what was required in the Android Pie updates.
Many thanks for this guide as it has helped me to enable VoLTE on my Pixel 2. On checking with *#*#4636#*#* it shows that VoLTE is now provisioned for voice. I now need to connect to any other phone where VoLTE is working and see if it indeed connects using VoLTE.
The only problem I had was in opening the port before using QPST. I had to type in the commands a second time in the terminal and then the port opened allowing me to proceed.

I'm back overseas now, but while I was home for the holidays I used a Straight Talk ATT sim and had no problems using the MagiskHide Props module to manually add the lines from this module:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-v4-volte-enabler-t3649613
It was somewhat inconsistent though. Seemed to only work with certain people I called. Also, I use Google Voice when I'm home, so that may account for the inconsistency.
I haven't tried the method outlined by the OP, though. I've had a solid setup for months now and I'm a bit hesitant to try anything that might kink it up.
Edit:
Now that I think about it, I never checked the IMS Registration to be sure, so I can't be sure if it was actually working, but it would show the "HD" calling icon on the dialer screen when connected, so I just assumed it was working.
Thank you for sharing this guide.
I can confirm, that VoLTE and VoWiFi is working fine in Orange Poland and PLAY (Poland). In case of PLAY, both services are disabled by default. You have to contact with service provider and ask them to enable WiFi Calling. By enabling it, VoLTE will be also enabled.

Any chance to get WiFi calling working on Orange PL?
And will this work at all on OG Pixel?

It seems, that I haven't been patient enough in case of Orange PL... I have redone the tests and was able to make VoWiFi to work. There's a need to reboot the device after swapping SIM cards. After reboot, VoWiFi works fine.

You're free to check it. I've checked on Nexus 5X and it didn't work at all.

Do I have to use some special ("diag") version of the Magisk as it says it the 1st post? Can't find 'magisk diag' for Sailfish.

This is a modded version of Magisk, which gives an ability to enable diagnostic port (normally it can't be enabled). It was prepared for Pixel 2 XL, but it also works fine with Pixel 2. I can't tell, if you need to use this version or not. Install standard Magisk version and check if you can enable this port using provided commands. If not, then it's up to you to decide, if you want to check modded version of Magisk or not.
Has anybody tried to install the modified Magisk on android Q Beta yet? I am getting error 1, it doesn't install
