Hey guys. I have this issue on my Note 4 running stock, official (albeit rooted) lollipop where the phone freezes up for some 10 seconds or so when I press the thumbail of a newly taken photo in the camera app. I did not spend much time with Kitkat when I got this phone as I immediately installed Lollipop on it (bought it used).
Any help as to what might cause this? Googling this leads me to believe it's quite a common issue.

Hello, after I started using Snapchat I noticed pretty big (and extremly annoying) bug. When I use Snapchat on my Nexus 4 with stock 4.4.2 android, it just randomly restarts the whole phone, sometimes it happens after a longer time, sometimes almost instantly after I open snapchat, so this bug makes snapchat absolutely unusable on Nexus 4 :/ So I've done some research and I found out that it's a software related bug that many users encounter since 4.3 and it's related to some bug in the camera API (so it's not snapchat's fault).
Well my question is if this can be solved by using custom rom, or if someone made (or is going to make) some fix that I haven't heard of, because obiviously Google doesn't give a sh*t about their ex-flagship phone
Nexus 4 is awesome but this bums me alot...
I am not sure but this issue is fixed on semaphore kernel. You might check it's thread a for more information.
Hey all long time reader first time poster. I have recently run into a rather cumbersome issue when dealing with my Rooted Rogers Galaxy Note 3 running 4.3, What seems to be the issue is that when i try to open Gallery it will freeze up and crash, The second is that trying to open up Camera, will 9/10 Bring up the camera buttons, but the view finder will show an image of my home screen. If able to connect the the Camera the UI doesnt respond either.
I have done many things to try and fix this going as far as
Deleting the Data and Caches of Gallery, Camera, and Media Storage ( to no avail)
Multiple Reboots ( To No Avail)
Hours of searching here and on google ( to no avail)
So now i come to you guys, in effort to hopefully understand why this is going on.
The only other question i have is would updgrading to 4.4 possibly break it out of its issues?
Thanks in advance :3
Hey guys,
I've upgraded from S4 to S5 and the most noticeable (negative) change is that the camera takes significantly longer to start (from 1-2 seconds on S4 to 4-5 seconds on S5).
A couple of seconds might not sound a lot, but it is very frustrating when you want to capture the moment, and because your camera is taking forever to start, you miss it.
I know 2 other friends who has this complaint as well. Are there are any solutions to make the startup faster?
Thanks in advance
the lastest update firmware fix this issue, it improves camera speed, mine takes only 2-3 seconds to start up (with external sd card), its faster without sd card.
I do have the latest update I believe (when I check for updates, it says it's up to date).
i would recommend you to flash firmware, not ota update. or you could back up your apps and do factory reset to see if there is any improvement

My stock OS opens the camera fast, after the update it became3x slower. I should have not updated. I'm thinking the culprit is the first update because the phone prompted the first update the instant it first time it connects to the internet. I only did the updates after a month since I have no issues. But then the second update was already available and I thought to myself that I should not miss more than 1 update. As the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don;t fix it.
that's why i would recommend to reflash latest stock firmware, i personally don't trust ota update

The first time I use it after a reboot it is fine, but the second time it takes a few seconds to 'process' an image and then it completely shuts down (it then needs the battery pulled to reboot) Sometimes it shuts down a few seconds after I've taken the picture (and closed down the camera app)
It's a stock 4.4.2 rom and although I recently rooted it, it used to do it before then.
Oh and the external memory card is a class 10 Samsung that can record 4k video fine so I don't think It's that.
Has anyone had any similar experiences?
Works fine for me on 5.0 lollipop rooted. @BaconTrousers
Thanks mate but I'm on 4.4.2
Hello.
Recently i was in Prism BB v16 and had no lags at all (11GB pit), but yesterday i tried to go back to Stock Lollipop (with 8gb pit) and i tried both HOA7 and the new HOD4 firmware, and they both were extremely laggy. I couldn't install almost any apps, camera wouldn't work, when i lock the phone and try to wake the phone it took 30+ seconds to show the lockscreen. And btw all the roms i try lag like this now (Aurora S6 port, Prism BB etc..)
Now i'm back to stock 4.4.2 UGNJ1 and it's working as it did before with the only problem being when taking 4-5 HDR photos, phone shuts down itself and the only way to turn it on is by taking out the battery.
I've flashed alot of Custom Roms (100+) in the past but never experienced any similar problem until now.
What could be the problem ?
