Cloning APK - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear experts of XDA,
i am in the midst of a personal project. But i cant seem to clone an app call "Carousell", it can be found in google playstore. I already tried multiple means to create a clone apk out of it but to no avail.
Software that i tried are APK editor and advanced apk tool.
It either gives error such as "install_failed_conflicting_provider" or when i really managed to install the clone app, it crashes.
I already tried changing the values of the Package and the Ath provider.
Would really be very grateful if anyone can guide me through. Thanks alot experts!

[Q] how to fix google backup in AOSP

Hi guys,
I'm doing my first steps in compiling android from sources, started of the stuff straight from google.
Everything works fine, apart of google backup - doesn't let me backup/restore from my google account, says sth about dev only backup to cache and cannot change this option.
For what I've seen a lot of ROMs have it fixed and apparently it's very easy to do, but can't find any solution anywhere.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Try this:
Code:
[B][COLOR="Red"]adb shell bmgr transport com.google.android.backup/.BackupTransportService[/COLOR][/B]
This doesn't seem to be clearly documented anywhere, but it does to seem to work and it carries across a reboot. The only other way seem to be to set it as the default transport in a .java file and build the framework, but that sure doesn't seem right.

SCH-i705 & Google Maps

Hello everyone
I am sorry that my first post is a request, but I couldn't find what I need anywhere.
I have a SCH-i705 running Android 4.1.2, it is not mine, but belongs to the company I work for. they have an Admin app installed that blocks google play; they don't want users to install apps that might interfere with their installed app. however, I can install and uninstall apps using adb.
I need to update Google Maps to the latest v7. I searched and downloaded a copy, but it flickers too much, and I read somewhere that I need the version that is specific to this device. I tried with androidvm in virtualbox and downloaded a copy, but the same thing, flickering, maybe I didn't provide the emulator with the correct specifications for this tab. I tried also to modify google play by renaming the package then repackage it using apktools, but I might missed something because the new renamed phonesky package crashes with error Can't find resource for bundle 'org.keyczar.i18n.messages_en_US', key ''
solving this problem for a newbie to android programming might take some time, so for now, I need copy of the Maps app pulled from this device if possible or be pointed to a renamed google play or a replacement for it.
thanks in advance.
Thank you Jxt., I will download it.
on the other hand, someone at another forum told me to use Real APK Leecher which is here at xda. I will give it a try too.

[Q] Cant install stock email apk

Hi everybody.
Im customizing my Note 3 N9005 rooted with the latest firmware I7.
I made a mistake using ROM Toolbox Pro and i stopped the service Exchange. That made my email application not function so i lost both services.
I made a backup of both before i touch anything but when i try to reinstall them with the same ROM Toolbox Pro, the program says it cant do it. Also with Roote Explorer into that application (very usefull with lots of options).
I also made a copy of all the APK into my Exsdcard and put the two APK with and without the ODEX files and nothing. In security i disable the setting that will allow to install them but nothing works. I even restart the phone with various settings and nothing changes.
So weird that original stocks APK cant be installed back.
Their name are SecEmail_Japk and SecExchange.apk. I reasure that i have both safely backed up but i cant install them again.
I tried K-9 but im acustom to this email apk. I also read something about flashing them but i dont even know how to do that (and make it worst).
Any help with this??
Thank you

[Q] Error 403 of Google Play on Samsung Galaxy S4 I9502

Dear All,
For more than a week, I have been frustrating about the 403 error on my Galaxy I9502 Duos. I have searched many places on the Internet, and I still couldn't make it work. The problem is really killing me, and I spent the whole last night writing emails with and trying solutions from Google support team, and in the end, they said they couldn't help me due to that my cellphone is a rooted device. That's ridiculous! How could I have the Google Apps without rooting my I9502?
So I have tried many ways that I can find, but still, the problem is not solved, please help me and you are my last hope!
Here are the information:
1. I'm using a stock rom based on Android 4.2.2:
Baseband version: I9502ZNUCMH3
Build number: JDQ39.I9502ZNUCMH4
2. I installed below package:
gapps-jb-20130812-signed.zip
3. Methods I have tried:
3.a I have found below link in xda, and tried below methods, and it doesn't help:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1567456
3.a.1: Wiping cache, clear data, clear cache and force stop all below components and restart:
Google Play Store, Google Play Store Service, Google Services Framework
But this doesn't work!
3.a.2: Remove Account:
And I even tried to add another google account of my family, but still doesn't work as well!
3.a.3: Reset both two APNs to the default:
Note, I mainly use WIFI. And both two APN has been reset to default. But this doesn't work!
3.a.4: Using proxy:
I have GAEProxy and Ladder Trial installed. But this doesn't work no matter the proxy is opened or closed.
3.a.5: Revert back to the old play store:
I am using the oldest play store together with gapps-jb-20130812-signed.zip, and obvious this doesn't work too.
3.a.6: Switch to another account:
I switched to another google account, but this doesn't work.
3.a.6: Factory Reset
I didn't do this yet, but I am seriously thinking about this。。。
4. Beside this problem, I also found that my browser can not access mail.google.com
And there is a similar error message:
403. That’s an error.
Your client does not have permission to get URL /2 from this server. That’s all we know.
All, I have tried all my best, and still, I can't figure out this problem. Please help me!!!!!
Thanks.

This is first time when I hear that someone needs root to access Google Play. On all of my Android devices Google Play was working WITHOUT root...
do you have any idea at all why have you rooted your phone?

Really? I really have no idea how to install Google App without root on Galaxy S4 I9502 ? Could you please shed some light on it? Thanks!
In addition, I personally think this is not a issue relate to root as my worked phoned had worked for month until this came up suddenly.
Have tried almost the same thing...
I've done almost the same things as wangmengj (except for trying another google account). Still no success.
My device is an UMI X1 :cyclops:
Also:
My google play doesn't update by himself, but I tried removing all updates (reset to version 3.3x.sumthin'), then manually installed the newest version (I believe it is 4.4.22).
Still no success.

I have no idea what're you doing and why.
First of all, to check if your Google account is OK, log in from laptop, desktop or other PC to Google Play.
Error 403 usually means that the server refuses your authentication, in other words: you do not have the credentials accepted by the server.
If using PC you'll have same error - that would mean that there is something wrong with the account.
Second, usually (it was same in case of ALL my android phones) - the Google Play was part of the ROM and was accessible as soon as I input the Google account settings. And definitely, installing the apps using the Google Play does NOT requires root, otherwise ALL android phones would be rooted as sold.
Hi,
I am also getting the same error and had done the same as the above including a factory reset. Still I am getting the same error. I can login to my account via pc but I cannot go to my google setting via my tablet's web browswer. I also realised my device is no longer listed in my google play under setting (via PC). Can someone shed some light to it?
I had the exact same problem on my I9502, and now all settled. Here's what I've done:
- Find app "Root Explorer" and install it.
- With RE, go to root/etc
- Delete the file "hosts" or simply change its name.
Then it should work!

I have had this problem for months now.
I too have been back and forth with google "support" via email, they are ****ing useless.
The issue is on THEIR end.
When I login to the play store on my computer, and I try and download an app, it throws and error immediately after clicking install - it has nothing to do with my device, the issue exists with my account on their end somewhere, but they refuse to acknowledge this and fix it, I really don't know what to do.

Clone Apk issues

Hi, I am trying to clone a few games so myself and some friends can run multiple instances for different accounts. I am fairly new to android programming so sorry if this is a noob question. I am using APK Multi-Tool to decompile, edit with notepad++, then recompile and sign with APK Multi-Tool. The problem I face is after the cloned apk is installed it starts then immediately closes. No message appears i.e force closing message. I have used lucky patcher to clone the app and it did work but I would rather make my own and learn a little. I also tried using APK studio but was unable to even get it to decompile as the button stayed grayed out. I am running windows 10, sgh-m919 and cyanogenmod 12.1. Any help will be much appreciated.
I'm fairly new to Android itself, so this might be a noob answer, but I think that means the apk is corrupted.

Could it be a compile thing?
