And then today I see this on google now
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Flipkart-lists-third-generation-Motorola-Moto-G_id69291
Its not even been a year and they release a 3rd gen model... I mean to say why is motorola in a hurry to realease things... Infact a 3rd gen moto x is also rumour. What are views on it guys.
Makes no sense for me. If they go on like this we have the Moto G 43th Gen in 2 or 3 years
Maybe Motorola thinks everyone buys the next Gen just for one or two specs (like LTE) and maybe they are right? I don't know. Otherwise they could have built LTE right from the start in the 2nd Gen and release a 3rd with really NEW features.

Thats not the case or else i would have bought moto x 2nd gen
Moto g 3rd gen is a better option
This may be because there are already some better smartphones launched in the market after moto g 2nd gen. Motorola wants to stay in market and provide better option to the customers. Moto g 3rd gen is really better than most of the smartphones in the same price range. You can see the specs of Moto g 3rd gen here. They are really good.
Those specifications are completely not the right ones.... Actually Moto 3rd gen looks like not a big improvement and it still will have only 1GB of RAM..
The specs from GSM Arena are just rumored specs that were launched before the actual details being leaked. A more accurate representation is posted here. Also here you can find a more detailed presentation of the topic at hand.
Wish Motorola would devote as much energy to prompt updates to fix crucial bugs as they apparently do in pushing new models onto the market. I guess they're probably not alone in that, though.
28th July is looking interesting

Highly doubt a successor so early but won't complain if they do. Higher res and snapdragon 800 with bigger battery won't hurt.

It could be
A) An explanation of the direction Motorola will be going with their brand [Very likely]
or
B) Based on the image with the towels, they will announce patterns as a new way to customize your Moto X. Did you want a floral pattern for your back cover? Well.....come Feb 25, YOU CAN! (Not very likely......or maybe :silly
Well, they just got bought by Lenovo... it's normal a press conference to tell public the company perspectives...
hope they didnt change too much on Moto x lines
i mean that will always have fast update, motorola logo, exclusive apps and awesome design
A new watch would be nice. Still waiting for someone to release the must have watch.
I'd rather they announce further support for the Moto X and introduce new features. Some reassurance the design philosophies of the Moto X won't be abandoned for rejoining the spec wars. The guy above me who suggested a higher resolution should be ashamed of himself.

Yes I suspect its this as well.
The deal probably isn't completely finalized yet; i mean this just happened like a week ago. How did they already figure what they gonna do with Motorola. I am not a business person but it just seems kinda too early for that kind of event. My guess would be that they ll talk little bit about lenovo and then announce some new product. Hopefully Moto x 2

I'm wondering if the Low-Power 'Doze Mode' requires specific hardware, such as low-power cpu cores. If this was the case; the feature would not function on Moto G.

I think that it will be just a new driver for power management. Now let's wait for Motorola confirmation about Moto G and Android M. The rumored launch is in august and august is in the Q3 2015 (July -> September). The bad thing is that Google doesn't upload the developer preview code to AOSP so no costum ROM till release date just ported apps.

Yes I don't think our device has any chance of getting it but 2nd gen may get it.
And as for the porting someone , may be @lost101 will surely port it to device
And if someone doesn't port, no need to worry as our device is officially supported by CM
At least gpe edition or moto g 4g edition will get it
As gpe is supposed to get updates for 1.5 yes
But it may expand to 2 yes
Don't worry our moto g is immortal
Will get updates every time

at the time of writing this the android police link was offline. But if that has something to take with minimizing the wakelocks feature when the phone kept without use for longer periods, its nothing but they tweaked the activity manager. I discussed that with one developer he said let the source come then he can tell something about it. But he said it is not very big thing.... But who knows what is under the hood..
Nexus has got developer preview of M, my friend told nothing so exciting except some addons. i wonder is our Falcon able to handle M
dudes and dudettes, falcon and peregrine are 2 years old devices, I highly doubt that we get another update. Has been enough for a medium-end device, time to go to CM
To state some facts: (Assumes Android updates are only provided for 2 years)
Moto G (Falcon) went on sale in November 2013 (Update support ends November 2015)
Moto G GPE (Falcon) went on sale January 2014 (Update support ends January 2016)
Moto G 4G (Peregrine) went on sale June 2014 (Update support ends June 2016)
Moto G (Titan) went on sale September 2014 (Update support ends September 2016)
Historically Motorola releases new versions of Android first for Moto X during November, then Moto G, in December. I would not be surprised to see an Android M release for Moto G GPE in Novemeber 2015.
From what I have seen of Android M; I suspect there will be no issue with 'Falcon' hardware being able to run it as fluidly as Lollipop. Also Moto G (2015) (Titan) has identical hardware for the most-part.
Android M (6) "Mentos Edition" Lol

I agree 100%. It's BS that Motorola won't update this phone. It is a 2015 model and only 7 or 8 months old. A good point was made in your link. All the Android One phones are supposed to get 6.0 per Google so I'm curious if Motorola will use Ram amount as the excuse.

well that was expected... I don't think that any phone on this price point will get 6.0 (expcet android one)
They only actually guaranteed "1" update which a couple devices have already received. I also know soak tests are still ongoing for some GSM variants...to be honest I'm not terribly upset. I picked up 4 of these for less than $220.00 for my work phones and they do the job. While not upset I am surprised given the nearly 18 month support to the 1st Gen Moto G and X...I did purchase a new X Style and I "hope" Lenovo and Motorola give it at least 2 version support.

I refer to Motorola official updates :good:
Kind of don't like how they let their phones get locked down by carriers if the carrier asks them either. I guess they don't have the muscle of Google or Samsung or Apple to say no but it still pisses me off how they preached developer friendlyness and then lock their phones down for carriers every time. Wish the carriers would get regulated and become utilities faster they don't deserve the profits if they are going to act like monopolies.
Can any of you suggest a similar phone that will be getting marshmallow?
I'm looking for something with decent battery life, smaller than a nexus 5, a torch is bonus.
Don't care about price.
Edit: I might just buy this anyway and use CM - i'm sick of expensive phones with terrible battery life - would rather a cheap one with no updates that lasts for a while.

What's a good alternate 4.5" android phone? That's the main reason I want a Moto E, that it's physically small. I find even the Moto G way too big to use with one hand.

Hey guys. I am rooted and currently running the 6.0.1 Asia release image. Just wondering if anyone knows why there's been such a delay in getting the OTA for the US variant? I've really enjoyed using the Moto X and with the Moto Credit i opened it would have been easy for me to justify upgrading to the 2016 version when it is announced. But being as OCD as i am about timely OS updates, going back to the nexus line is looking like a better option as the days go by. I get that 6.0.1 is just an incremental update, but that makes me wonder even more why it hasn't been rolled out. I'm hoping that this just means we'll receive Android N as quickly as possible, but i wont hold my breath. Thoughts?

Just because they're discontinuing one line and starting another is no reason to stop updating the previous line. The device is not even one year old. It'd be a terrible (and BS) decision to just drop support for it like it never happened. Especially with them discounting the device so much lately, they'd have a lot of new pissed off users on their hands.
Thinking on it, I honestly think the release of 6.0.1 to a limited number of handsets may specifically be targeted to see what problems will arise. Not the first time a manufacturer has done this. But informing customers would be a good move when doing this.

The life of a report must be VERY hard.
