I have flashed the L720VPUGOD2 official ROM and have been using it for a couple days. It has worked great so far, except I have no just noticed that I am getting zero calendar notifications. Is S Planner causing this, because I tried freezing it and still nothing. What should I do to find the source of the notificaton stops and fix it? Thanks.
Go to settings/my device/sounds and notifications/application notification and find the calendar you are using and turn notifications on

I did indeed do that to both Google Calendar and S Planner. Still no notifications.

Hey guys, I just rooted my phone and flashed to Cyanogen. However, I am still getting duplicate SMS/messaging notifications. I was using the stock Messaging program prior so I do not know if this problem previously existed.
I have disabled the notifications and auto-retrieve from the stock Messaging program.
I have enabled the notifications and delivery on chompSMS.
What have I done wrong? I've done some searching around, heard to reinstall messaging but that process just seems a little difficult. Have I missed something along the way?
CM5.0.6
Build: EPE54B
Thanks guys
Bump, still having this problem
Disable notifications in both apps and send yourself an SMS (although auto-retrieve should be on). Do you get a notification? If so, from which app?
Disabled notifications in ChompSMS and disabled notifications/auto-retrieve in Messaging.
Still getting notification from stock Messaging program.
GAHHH!!!

Crazy... can't help I'm afraid...
Is anyone else having an issue in which notification sounds stop working after about an hour after the Xoom was booted?
I have rebooted it several times and keep having the same issue. After about an hour, the notification sounds no longer play, but the notification light will still blink. The clock alarm notification sounds still work at all times though.
I have tried changing the notification sounds on the apps but it has no effect. When it happens, all app notification sounds stop working. The only unaffected app is the Alarm Clock sound.
Reason (Bug found):
Ok, so after a lot of testing. I found what causes this bug.
I have 2 gmail accounts that I use for mail. So I set up 2 GMail Widgets on the home screen. One for each account, obviously. The problem happens after both accounts have received mail and the mail is accessed through clicking on the mails in the widgets to bring up the full gmail client. It doesn't matter if the accounts have both received mail at the same time or hours apart.
I did find that as long as you never open gmail through the widgets, the notification sounds keep working. I sent myself mails about once an hour to both accounts for over 8 hours using gmail on a PC. During this time, I simply listened for the notification sound after each email was sent. Every one worked perfectly, until after I opened the a mail item in each of the gmail accounts on the Xoom using the widgets. Then, I no longer received the notification sounds.
Now during all the times of testing, the notification light always works. Regardless of the notification sound. Also, sound within applications were never affected. However, when the notification sounds stopped going off due to this gmail widget bug, none of my applications notification sounds worked anymore.
After the notification sound bug kicks in, the only way to remedy it is to shut down the tablet and reboot.
Reason found and put into post above.
I have the opposite happening to me. My light won't blink on Gmail notifications but the sound works just fine. I've done multiple reboots too. Good find on what may be causing the bug though.

I am currently experiencing this issue but I dont have two gmail account widgets and after a reboot I still do not get any sound notifications.
I do have a gmail and an email widget. Perhaps I will remove both and reboot.
I am running Team EOS 3 (latest nightly)
Thanks
I have a EVO 3D. I use Google Calender. My problem is, when I set an appt on Gcal it lets me set an alert notification but won't let me choose anything other than their short little notifications. I need it to play an alarm or a song so it will wake me up.
Anyone know an app or way to get Gcal to play an alarm so I actually have the option of getting woken up for an appt?

installed and it does not work for google calendar. I noticed it works for other things like choosing a ringtone for sms or calls but not working for calendar. anyone else confirm this or have another idea?
finally answered my own question. Calendar Snooze!
Does everyone else get previews for unread email on their lockscreen? I get the SMS preview but just the statusbar notification for emails (I'm using the stock email app). Is there some obscure setting for turning this on/off I might have messed with?

Nope... you may need to wait for a firmware update or use another.email app from google play.

Thought I'd figured it out, but no luck. Another option would be to disable the other notification previews (sms and calls) and use DashClock for the notifications instead, but I can't find a way to do this either on the S4 - apparently it's possible on the HTC One...?
I've had this problem since 10.1 and it continues on 10.2
In messaging custom notification tone and vibrate settings do not stick at all. They stick in messaging settings but when a SMS arrives it buses the Android default notification tone and default vibration pattern.
In GMail my device vibrates with incoming email although that option isn't checked in GMail settings. Also when I delete a message via the option in the notification itself the device alerts me again via sound and vibrate like a new message is coming in even though i'm deleting a message.
I think there is a bug in CMs notification enhancements that doesn't play well with these two apps.
Anyone else having this or had it and have a cure?

I have the same issue on Cyanogenmod 10.2 for my Galaxy S4. I've been searching for a resolution or someone else with the problem and this the only thread I've been able to find.
What's strange is the notifications seem to work fine at first, but after some time passes I get the annoying alert on delete from notification bar issue. I also want to set my Gmail to not vibrate and have a silent alert tone, but it doesn't want to stick just like you said.
I've also tried stock Android 4.3 as a test and the notifications work fine, so I think this is just a Cyanogenmod issue? Have you had any luck resolving this?
I figured it out. It has to do with the profiles option in cyanogenmod. There's an option for Gmail notifications by default. If you disable profiles, the notification settings in Gmail are followed. Otherwise, they will be overrided by the settings in cyanogenmod profiles.

Had the same problem. I just deleted the gmail app group from the profile settings and it works fine now. Thanks for posting to solution
Thanks

I'd been fighting this for a week, changing the default messaging app, setting different sounds in all apps. I never thought about the profiles affecting it. Finally, I have control again.

Been annoyed by a similar problem (no notification sounds at all, even when volume was turned up) until I found this thread. Simply disabling all profiles from the CM settings seems to have cleared this up! Thanks for the tip!
