I have a EVO 3D. I use Google Calender. My problem is, when I set an appt on Gcal it lets me set an alert notification but won't let me choose anything other than their short little notifications. I need it to play an alarm or a song so it will wake me up.
Anyone know an app or way to get Gcal to play an alarm so I actually have the option of getting woken up for an appt?

installed and it does not work for google calendar. I noticed it works for other things like choosing a ringtone for sms or calls but not working for calendar. anyone else confirm this or have another idea?
finally answered my own question. Calendar Snooze!

I know there are a lot of threads about the alarm problem, but i didn't find one that addresses my problem.
The built-in alarm usually works very well, the problem is when during the night i recive a call, SMS or e-mail that i don't answer. I figured that when there is a notification waiting for me already, the alarm doesn't sound, but it only adds the alarm as a reminder that i get when i dismiss the prior notifications (SMS / e-mail / call).
The solution should be very simple, either a program that will clear those notifications before the alarm should sound, or preferably a program that will know to play the alarm even while other notifications are waiting.
anybody here has a solution?
thanks a lot, and sorry if the problem was addressed before, i didn't find it.
not a real solution, but you could turn the radio off overnight. or try some of the alarm apps which are better than the included one (alarmToday, spb time etc), there is a good freeware one but i don't remember the name
thanks
The SPB time trial seems to work just fine. I think i'll stick to that..
thanks
I have paintstakenly set all of my events (including birthdays) to have a notification of NONE. However, the Incredible seems to flash the screen and "loud ping" every 10 minutes to notify me of these events anyway. I have had to resort to running Timeriffic to turn off all sounds until I wake up.
I am wondering if there is a way to get birthdays (which I believe are the problem) to actually NOT notify if you have set them to NOT notify. I dont want to completely disable notifications in case I do have a meeting or something, but this is somewhat ridiculous.
Thanks
None of my events make any sounds if they are not set to notify.
<sigh>
Ummm ... ok ... so from that response I take it that you are unable to answer my question but replied anyway.
If anyone can actually answer it, I would appreciate any suggestions. I suspect that this may be more for events which recur yearly; perhaps those are prone to the problem.
Events can come from many sources, Google calendar, exchange, etc...
In exchange there is no difference between a birthday or any other event, they are just events.
Not sure about Google Calendar.
in addition i was wondering if its possible to make calls a notification so they dont bother me all the t ime when i am playing games. i cant do airplane mode cause i still need data and need to see who is calling but i hate that i have to mute it and then do the task swkitcher and go back to my game, i wish it was just a notifcation or an option for that or an app? anyone know of one?
Maybe it's just me, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the alarm to repeat! It will only ring once when there is an event and if I don't wake up (say for work) from that first ring, the phone won't ring again. Suggestions?
I guess no one else who has a Droid X has issues with the calendar alarm not repeating.
Hi,
Did you managed to solve that problem with the calendar alerts not repeating in the Android phone?
I'm also looking for something for repeating the alerts, like it used to happen in my old QTEK phone.
Thanks!
I use alarm clock pro as an alarm to wake up in the morning. Works great actually and if I don't use it my kid is late and I mean really late!!

Hey it's not a specific N4 problem but anyway...
Isn't it possible to set an event in the google calendar with a real alarm? Not just the notification with its short sound.
I want a long and sharp sound which I have to stop on the phone. But can't find something like that on stock calendar app.
thx
Just picked up the G2 yesterday and I love it for the most part. Hoping some of you can help me on one thing.
I generally keep my phone on vibrate mode and want notifications for text messages, calendar reminders, etc... but not when I receive a new email. I've checked my Gmail settings, and vibration is turned off there. However, my phone still vibrates for every email.
I've gone through every general setting I can, but I can't seem to figure out how to turn this off. Anyone have an answer?
it's not under the general settings, its under the account settings.

Gmail account settings? If so i already have those settings set correctly. If not which settings are you referring to?
Anybody else? I'd really like to solve this issue.

I went to accounts under settings and removed my gmail from the Email accounts. There is no reason to have gmail there when you can just use the gmail app... kinda annoying. Then you can just have gmail give you notifications when you get a gmail.. like it should be?
I know this thread is a bit old, but I still can't figure out how to stop Gmail from vibrating every time I get an email. Has anyone figured this quirk out?

If you are using the Gmail App then go to the gmail app settings > click your email> then "Inbox sound & vibrate" > uncheck vibrate
That's just it though, it still vibrates even when vibrate is not checked.
Sent from my LG-D801 using xda app-developers app
Anyone figure this out? I keep my phone on vibrate also and gmail vibrates every time even though it's unchecked.
Did you ever figure this out? I am also being affected by this problem.
Hi guys, yes I managed to make the incredible annoying vibrating to stop each time I get a new e-mail or message (sms).
Go to the Message-app - in the right corner (on the phone) press Menue - Settings - Turn off "Vibrate".
Now you should get no vibrations at all when receiving sms/mms or email (I have a Sony Xperia P).
this worked for me

Open gmail icon then in menu mode, look for settings under label settings. Not sure why it's there but it is. Open label settings and choose the device notifications
Sound, and under sound choices choose Silent. It's at the top of my lg choices. I can't think why they combined text and email. Who in their right mind want a d
ing every time an email comes in!??
