I can't really answer that since I am a bit obsessive about always closing all applications. I also restart the phone first thing in the morning and when I am leaving work (very OCD I know )

So you could get a 1 GB ram device, why 3GB if you don't use it?

I've got an international version bought from France

So I took the update last night, but my version seems to be an older one.. OE2? am I just reading the wrong line here?

That's strange indeed.
I wonder if they are doing some algorithm computation which is tied to their database and have to send data back and forth. Kind of like voice recognition. Try putting the phone in airplane mode and then use face unlock. I wonder if it will default to the preset pattern.

This is what I was thinking too.
I went to the security settings and found out my phone doesn't have face recognition (AOKP ms4) I could have sworn I've tried it out before haha.

ok, at first i was joking obviously
But after downloading a zip to flash Face Unlock for my phone..it's kinda got me wondering lol
For one, I took a screenshot of the first page when setting it up. Last point says all the info is saved on your phone. (see below)
2nd, I've been using it for a few hours now and i have no face unlock data usage as of yet. I'll check it again tomorrow afternoon.

You click on an app under data usage and it will show you the percentage used by that app.
Btw I don't see how you can think its photo shopped when it's 100% legitimate.

[HowTo] find out when my phone has been manufactured *secret code*

Hi everyone!
For some short time, thanks to our great developers, we have CM10 aka Jelly Bean!
But this also brought some problems with it. Some users are said to have lags. Fault for this is said to be the different speed of the NAND partition. I do not want to discuss this here, because I am of the opinion that CM10 is insanely fast, even with older chips. -> seems to be solved now, with the new partition layout :victory:
But how do I check the date of manufacture (DOM)? After a short search on the internet I've found how to check when your phone was manufactured, but this may vary of course from the sale date, so please be careful. And it also says nothing about the speed of your NAND partition.
Open dialer, type *#*#197328640#*#* to open SERVICE MODE (if it isn't working try only *#197328640#*)

My phone is older than yours and i didn't expect such big lags on cm10. In fact, the latest build is very smooth and responsive.
Maybe the lags aren't caused by slow NAND partition at all, because the slow one has still 54Mbit/s speed, could be enough for data partition.
I believe in pawitp's work. Till it isn't even a official CM10 build we can be happy to have JB on our SGS..
I guess you have to just test the rom with full wipe (+format system) to know for sure, if it runs well on your phone.
Wow! I think I bough my phone one month after manifacturing it

and what rom are you on? Can you please share your experience with cm10? Thanks
21st of June 2010. That's about 2 weeks from when I bought it! Interesting...
2011.2.16 - I guess a newer version of SGS-I9000. However, date on the battery (below SN) says 2010.10.28.
I have CM10 installed and I have experienced lag with the previous alphas (mainly using apps), not so far with the latest version.
i think my phone should not exist

You have to try the latest cm10 build. But even if you have slow Nand partition i bet it will be responsive enough. Pawitp makes a great job!

Amazed at what people can miss. Not to be a peni$ here, but this feature has been there since HoneyComb on my other tablets.
This is my first Android phone, so I cannot say if phones had it prior to ICS. I don't even know if other ICS phones support that, but this being a tablet and I can attest that this feature is not new and has been there since HC on old tablets.
What would be a neat feature is:
1. Add an icon to swipe. Just like on iPhones. I learnt how to modify those swipers that I made my own: with my girlfriend's pic, my pic, my motorcycle, my car, my ***, etc, etc.
2. Gesture unlock just like in Win8. Doodle on a picture to unlock the device. This looks like fun.

Make sure to use the dropbox backup for your settings, so you don't have to set it up again. Saves s ton of time, also downloading the full install image and writing it to the sd card, takes about 5min to dl and write pop it in restore settings and your good.

Hate to break it to you guys but if you took more care about what information you shared on the internet (such as names, emails, addresses etc - basic security stuff) you wouldn't have anything to fear from HTC's legal department. They can't file a successful lawsuit against an anonymous person now can they?
