[HowTo] find out when my phone has been manufactured *secret code* - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi everyone!
For some short time, thanks to our great developers, we have CM10 aka Jelly Bean!
But this also brought some problems with it. Some users are said to have lags. Fault for this is said to be the different speed of the NAND partition. I do not want to discuss this here, because I am of the opinion that CM10 is insanely fast, even with older chips. -> seems to be solved now, with the new partition layout :victory:
But how do I check the date of manufacture (DOM)? After a short search on the internet I've found how to check when your phone was manufactured, but this may vary of course from the sale date, so please be careful. And it also says nothing about the speed of your NAND partition.
Open dialer, type *#*#197328640#*#* to open SERVICE MODE (if it isn't working try only *#197328640#*)

That confirms what the serial number on the phone under the battery tells me. Thanks for that.

How does this help me further? (in the quest of finding out if i have a slow nand or not)

My phone is older than yours and i didn't expect such big lags on cm10. In fact, the latest build is very smooth and responsive.
Maybe the lags aren't caused by slow NAND partition at all, because the slow one has still 54Mbit/s speed, could be enough for data partition.
I believe in pawitp's work. Till it isn't even a official CM10 build we can be happy to have JB on our SGS..
I guess you have to just test the rom with full wipe (+format system) to know for sure, if it runs well on your phone.

Wow! I think I bough my phone one month after manifacturing it

and what rom are you on? Can you please share your experience with cm10? Thanks

21st of June 2010. That's about 2 weeks from when I bought it! Interesting...

2011.2.16 - I guess a newer version of SGS-I9000. However, date on the battery (below SN) says 2010.10.28.
I have CM10 installed and I have experienced lag with the previous alphas (mainly using apps), not so far with the latest version.

i think my phone should not exist

You have to try the latest cm10 build. But even if you have slow Nand partition i bet it will be responsive enough. Pawitp makes a great job!

[KERNEL][SOURCE???] Kernel 3.0.16 for Desire HD

Hey guys.
I just got an email from a friend who sent me a screenshot from htcdev.com website where apparently he saw that kernel 3.0 was released for DHD. I visited the website immediately upon receiving the photo but could not find it anywhere, anyhow..
If someone knows more about this please post. I'm not even sure I should be posting this here, and if not I'll close the thread.

Like I said, I couldn't find this anywhere. I was not the one taking this screen.
I tried searching but apparently can't find it. It seems it was a mistake made by the admin of the website?
Before a Mod will close for sure this thread, can you please ask your funny friend why doesn't he started to download the Kernel?

I am not going to close this, mere move it to General.
Like shad0wboss mentioned, the likely posted it by mistake and have since pulled it.

Never said it seems legit.
In all seriousness. Never click a link I provide. 90% of the time it will be a Rick-Roll. Fact.
That does not apply to the CM7 builds I occasionally do.
But why we can not use the kernel 3.0 from One V? Because it has practically identical hardware.
There's a lot of sensation dls of the kernel. Can't these be ported somehow?
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
Nope. But folks are all over the One V kernel anyway. Just a matter of time now before it's ported. You can check out Nexxx over at Desire S forums. He's building a custom kernel 3 for msm7x30. He's done great load of work and still has a lot to do. You can follow the progress on his git.

Amazed at what people can miss. Not to be a peni$ here, but this feature has been there since HoneyComb on my other tablets.
This is my first Android phone, so I cannot say if phones had it prior to ICS. I don't even know if other ICS phones support that, but this being a tablet and I can attest that this feature is not new and has been there since HC on old tablets.
What would be a neat feature is:
1. Add an icon to swipe. Just like on iPhones. I learnt how to modify those swipers that I made my own: with my girlfriend's pic, my pic, my motorcycle, my car, my ***, etc, etc.
2. Gesture unlock just like in Win8. Doodle on a picture to unlock the device. This looks like fun.

Did I miss something? Did you release another preview build tonight? I was just going to report that Storage FCs but I see you already know that. I also had an issue with USB MTP connection, it also FCs and fails to connect to the PC. Well, just finished d/l the file in this thread and it does indeed look new, is USB MTP now working? Thanks.

I never heard anything. For the time being I've built the CM10 and ported the AOKP framework.
CM10 is going to final builds soon, and AOKP has already stopped at M1, so once this gets all ironed out there won't really be any changes. Future updates will address bugs only until I can figure out the Git myself and add the Camera.

I had no problems charging as mtp was already checked off from my previous install of JC Sullins' preview CM10. Matter of fact, if you plug into usb, even though it won't connect you can then tap usb connected from notifications and see whether mtp is checked off or not and check if needed.

[CM11] Android 4.4 Kitkat Preview By temasek Video REVIEW

Hey guys! So as you would have probably seen, Android 4.4 kitkat is out for the Galaxy S3 ! Big news right, I know im excited!
So I checked it out, its smooth and as far as I can tell pretty damn stable, no crashes or bugs for the short time I was using it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVipBbrfCkQ
This video goes over the basics, Theres not a lot in it which is to be expected and the video doesnt contain as much information as id like, you could probably hear I was talking fast and too excited to actually record! nevertheless, I will make another video when its got more features or if theres a newer version Etc.
Let me know what you think, are you going to install it?

Good review. I've now got version 10 installed and it is working perfectly. Super fast, no fc issues, and pretty decent battery life so far.
Thanks for all.
Hello,
Great ROM! I have a question though... Does anyone know where I can find the setting for Active Display? I'm not sure if the functionality is in there... I'm on V8.
Thank you in advance!
Nice video. I have a lot of faith in Temasek. He is a great dev!
Cheers
I am interested in whether there is support for Bulgarian language! This stops me try! Sorry for bad English!
This ROM is amazing. There are some camera issues but as I never use the camera it's become my daily. The battery life is a huge step up from samsung ROMs, I put my phone through quite heavy usage and 1 charge a day is more than enough. Compare that to it basically living on the charger cable with other ROMs. I've had 6 devices and many variants of CM, this is right up there in terms of optimisation and speed. I'm sure once temasek resolves the few remaining issues it will be one to beat. Can't recommend it enough. Haven't been this excited for ROM releases since codefirex on my old desire HD.
