A lot of people know about this, but just in case you don't here it is.
The short and sweet is this:
From iPhone:
1.a Download Smart Switch from the google play store onto the Galaxy S6
1.b Open app, select "import from iCloud" and enter your login info.
2.a If you have an OTG cable, plug your iPhone directly into your Galaxy S6.
2.b Open Smart Switch and import from iPhone instead.
From Android:
1. Download Smart Switch on both devices.
2. Open app and follow prompts.
Here's the video for it:

Just enable USB Debugging via Settings - Applications - Development and use the phone as USB storage. Then you can simply drag and drop what you want on the phone.
Regards.
If you use USB mode, you can use www.mediamonkey.com for your music. V4 (Beta) will support video.
Also you can use your phone like an ftp server via wifi through the free SwiFTP in market. ES File Explorer will let you access your PC files from phone through wifi
Kies is just useless for everything, expect flashing for the odin threatened people
is there some advantage to use Kies? i would skip it, just plug in USB cable, connect as mass storage device, drag and drop your music and video. done.
No need for KIES to put Data on the SGSII.
USB-Debugging enabled and just connected to the PC...all you need.
use media\audio for Music and
media\video for the videos
MyPhoneExplorer.
You can use it for making backups, sync with Google account, browse, copy, delete files, edit content ... and more.

This is a list of all the options I tried (in chronological order) to solve my file transfer issues with the Galaxy Tab 10.1. The last option is the most stable one and until either Samsung or Android give us something usable I'll keep using it. Its a WiFi solution, so its slow in comparison to a USB solution.
Kies Software: Simply does not work for me since it requieres the USB drivers to be installed and for some reason they will not install correctly in my laptop.
Kies via Wi-Fi (Settings/Wireless and networks/Kies via Wi-Fi, it requires the Kies software): It says that the SIM card was not detected... There's obviously something really wrong with that Kies app because I have a WiFi only tablet...
Kies App: Basically creates a server in your tab that you can access through your browser. It works but if you need to transfer several GB's of music files organized in folders... you're going to have issues with it... Plus its really unstable.
SwiFTP FTP Server: Basically creates an FTP server in your tablet that give you access to the whole disk. It works with any FTP client in your computer. I use FileZilla. Its realy stable and you can simply drag and drop all your files to your FTP client. Also, it doesnt interfere with the use of the table. So you can use it while the files transfer. There's more options for FTP servers in the market but this one works, so why bother...
I hope this thread help you guys!

Try installing "samsung_usb_driverP4" .
I transfer filesnto and from my tab using the android sdk enviroment and the tab in debug mode. Once the sdk is installed it's just as easy as your phone though usb mass storage.

Actually, I could not find it... What's P4?
It took the whole day to transfer all my music collection.... I'm not happy. I really need to fix this usb connectivity issue.

If you have rooted your Tab, there is a free app that is so simple a US Congressman could us it. Check out Samba Filesharing. It makes your Tab's SD drive show up as a wireless device on Windows computers. It is fast and easy as drag and drop.

wifi file explorer pro.
I haven't used my USB cable for transfers since I got this program in August. Dev is awesome, will help those that need it, and he updates the program with new features about once a week. Best 99c on the Market.
Another option is Airdroid. Search for it in the Market.
I know theres a lot of options in the market, but I want to fix the usb issue. My music collection is about 5GB. It took the whole day to copy over WiFi... I'm contemplating re-installing Windows... which is a huge PITA...
use google music on your computer it will sync 20000 songs
FileExpert does this and much more

Here is what I did to get usb driver to work on 10.1, including debugging mode:
1) First go here to install the drivers without the SDK.
2) Then go here to install the Samsung Drivers.

This is the one i use and it works for me :had also problems with a regular usb stick ,wasn't recognized but after installing the samsungdrivers my pc recognizes my tab 10.1 and usb stick aswell.
had similar problems and removed KIES and installed Airdroid on my tablet and works great!
kies air is not an option when you have to transfer more than a couple of files.
I only found the option to transfer one at a t ime through the web interface.
so it is extremely time consuming to do 1 at a time...
The best option i found so far, was the como with the adaptor for usb sticks and flash cards.
I got it on ebay for about 25$ and i been using it all the time since then.
It is VERY fast (depending on your usb stick as well) but with a trancent stick, i get about 10~15 secs for 1GB of mp3s.
So far it is the best way i found to transfer files.
P.S. I believe it is a lot faster than using the cable usb connection with the included charge/data cable.

All the options u presented are great, but I was looking for a way to share files with my PC via Windows Explorer, i.e., transfer files from/to my tablet via samba file share. Does anyone knows any way to?

The overhead is just too much. Fist you need to upload all your songs and then you need to download them to your phone... Unless you have a reliable 3G or 4G connection, which I don't have...

I think isyncr is broken on the s5. The wifi syncs only the playlist names but never transfers any songs, the USB transfer doesn't even recognize the desktop app is installed. Anybody else having this issue? I already contacted the dev, waiting for a reply

I thought I'd already responded to your support request, but there are no known issues with the S5 right now. Are you using a PC or Mac? For USB transfers, you have to use iSyncr Desktop which is in the menu bar (Mac) or system tray (PC). You cannot have a WiFi sync if iSyncr Desktop isn't installed, so it should be there.
Works for me
I had no problem getting isyncr to work on the 900V and save songs on the SD Card.
However, I used a 64G SDCard from my previous device which already had a isyncr folder. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but I have noticed that some other apps cannot write to the SD Card. I think once someone gives us root capability for this device these kind of issues will go away.
That said, while I already had the isync folder loaded with songs on the SD Card I used, I did add some new songs to my remote computer and isyncr was able to create the new song files on the SD Card.

Well, there is now. And FYI, i already responded to your second email with this:
Are you syncing over USB or WiFi? Wifi, as i mentionned in my subsequent email, usb doesn't work as it doesn't recognized the desktop app
Do the songs show up if you install and use my app, Rocket Player? The songs are never synced, my sd card is empty
Are you syncing with a PC or a Mac? Pc
Why did you send a screenshot of the Galaxy S5 music player? If it turned green, that is Samsung's software, not mine. this picture is just to show you that it syncs my playlist names but doesnt sync any songs. the green is the circle next to the playlist name when isyncr finished syncing a playlist. As i mentionned, when i press sync, it syncs the playlist and never syncs any songs. It gathers info aboht the playlist and instead of syncing the songs, it just turns green. I would love to attach another photo but now my phone doesn't recognize isyncr at all. Even if i try to connect manually it doesnt see the desktop app.

I've been an isyncr user since day 1, i've seen the program evolve from the days where i almost switched to Airsync. I kept this because it worked better overall with less dependencies. It worked flawless on my Note 3 and it doesnt work on my S5. I've already tried everything before reaching out to you, like reinstalling, clearing cache, data, heck, i even tried a previous version. FYI, I did start from a freshly formated SD card, and I didnt just transfer my SD from my N3 to my S5 and keeping the isyncr folder intact. Also, i would not make the stupid mistake of trying all this without having the desktop plugin installed
@crimpo There already has been root for long before the device was released, as usual, chainfire is ahead of the game by updating his CF-Autoroot
Quick update: Pat sent in a log file, and this looks like some issue syncing to the SD card using WiFi that I will have to figure out. I'm not seeing this on any of my other KitKat devices, and haven't heard about this issue from any other S5 customers, but I will try and post my finding here.
I too am having an issue with isyncr USB and WiFi to MacBook pro. Been using isyncr for years with galaxy nexus.
I have the Verizon version of the s5. I am blown how much cap they put on the phone. Every time I plug in USB it says installer mode and it looks like a Verizon cd is plugged into mac.
Tried installing Samsung kies but no Playlist sync.
Even android file transfer is working weirdly.
Can anyone tell me how to wipe all traces of kies and the Verizon application?
I'm having problems getting it to work. I've tried everything.

Support
I'd love to help with these problems with your Galaxy S5 displaying in iSyncr Desktop if you'd email me at [email protected]. I'm not sure that I have a bullet proof method that I'm able to post to the forum. You do not need to root so far as I am aware. Please email me at support and we can work through these issues together.

The only way i was able to transfer to sd without root was to create the same structure of storage isyncr creates on a device that allows apps to write to sd. It didn't work all the time but after pressing sync 3-4 times, it eventually started syncing

What's the best way / options to transfer 500mb folder from an S4 galaxy to another Android or iphone?

Lots of us are going from the Note7 to the V20. My wife wants to know the easiest way to transfer her apps and app/OS settings. She's used to using SmartSwitch, but it won't work on the V20. I'm hoping for root and will use Titanium Backup, but what can I suggest for her that's easy?
I've done similar research and found an app called Copy My Data in the play store. I haven't used it yet but may give it a shot when I get my V20 next week.
I have used My backup Pro in the past and found it effective.

LG has an app in the play store that wirelessly transfers all the files to the V20.

Doesn't android have a set up to transfer file from one android to another at set up?
The app called Copy My Data didn't say it transferred apps or app data. It just listed messages, etc, that already transferred via Google. If it moves apps and app data, it doesn't make that clear. We'll look for the LG app.
I would suggest Titanium Backup, but I don't know if it works going from one version of Android to another.
Helium backup
You install the app, then a component program on a PC. Plug your phone into the PC, open the app on the phone, then open the program on the PC. After that, you can backup your apps, app data, messages, etc to the cloud, Google Drive, internal, or external storage, etc.
The PC program is only used to give the android app special permissions to access app data. You literally just plug the phone in, then unplug it once the program says its done.

The LG app is running now. It seems to be good. You install the LG sending app from playstore on the Note7. Nothing needs to be installed on the V20. You just go to Settings|backup on the V20 and authorize the transfer. They seem to find each other and it's all quite simple. You can use WiFi, a USB OTG cable or transfer by saving to an sd card.
Edit: It just finished. Wife says WooHoo! I guess she's happy.
My wife used the same app from LG too. Used it with the OTG adapter that came with the Note 7 box
I used it yesterday to transfer. Works really well and was pretty quick. Took back my note today so so sad.
Does the LG app transfer app data as well? or apps only like samsung smartswitch?
In the past with samsung phones I used smartswitch first, then helium to restore app data.
The LG app did not transfer app data, as far as she can tell. For example, it did not bring over ES File Explorer favorites.
I'm using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.app.managerfree to copy the APKs to my SD card then will plug in my card to the new phone and install that app first and then install that apps from the SD card will be a lot faster that way. Trust me.

You need to connect your phone to computer , and use the Android phone transfer app (You can use whatever you think of as a good application )
