micorsd 2 gb help - how to format strange characters

hello ,
i' m having probelms with my micorsd 2 gb , it gives me strange characters on folders and files , i'm sure the microsd is working fine , I used it with my last phone and never had problems. Does anyone hot to format correctly microsd on p4350? Have to use Fat 16 or 32 ...

thanks for replying, now i'm reading the threads about the microsd corrupt. I'm sending 3-4 emails and trying to contact htc, I think that this is a joke!!!! how is it possible they can sell a phone with these problems !!?!?!? hope can solve it , or I have to change the phone, can't format microsd 3 times at week ... **** !!!

after contacting htc by phone, they told me and confirmed me that htc p4350 has problems with external memory. They told me that until windows mobile 6 will be avaible :
----- don't have to turn off completely the phone, but ues it only in standby mode-
I will try in this way , waiting for wm6 upgrade , for htc is the only solution ....

I think the main problem is running programs off the memory card before it is put into sleep mode.

I think, that main problem is bad work of HTC and (or) Microsoft. This problem is about 8 months old and no solution yet !

major problem...... B7610

Hey guys .. i had this awful problem on my b7610. My storage card got wiped out .. dunno y .. just out of the blues .. everything got deleted ..all i could see was few unreadable large files that were abt 700 mb & 120mb... with some weird names ( actually symbols)
This has happened to me once .. but this sucker deleted all 16 gb of storage

i have had storage card issues with an omnia and an omnia i920. what i did was take the storage card to a card reader and when it wasnt readable by the phone - it was readable by the card reader and pc. i have no idea why. so i transferred all info to computer - formatted storage card and put info back. this has happened to me more than once. in all cases the storage card was fine after the reformat. i have no idea if this will work for you but its worth a try.

On page 19 of the USER Manual it says that formatting the memory card on a PC may cause incompatibility with your device. It says to format the memory card only on the device.

i have no idea why it happens. it happened often on omnia and i have had it twice on omnia 2. bought new 16gig card - class 6 - happened once - reformatted, etc and its been fine for four months. hi tech life is challenging.

I got this problem too! feel so tired working with it.
finally, i use a recovery tool to bring something back to the phone. Then install what i want to again and only hope that they will not disappear again.

Hi i would like to ask to fellow seniors and developers of xda,
Why does my phone says phone storage is not mounted? I tried everything from factory data reset to the PHV ( Power + Home + Volume Up ) buttons. And it seems nothing is working. I have been looking for answers for days. And i dont think anyone has this problem than me. Im the only one with the problem. SD Card is not reading as well. I tried my SD Card on my wife's SM-N900 ( same as mine ) and it work well. Nothing happened. Is there any solution to this? Please help me solve this issue. Thank you for your time. /;

I tried to download something from WhatApp and it says " Download Failed : Cannot download because no internal shared storage is available. Please unmount it as a disk drive and try again". I never did do anything and it unexpectedly became something like that. Is there no solution to this issue ?

It might be a hardware problem specific to your phone - a bad contact or something similar. Test with 2-3 different micro-SD cards that all are (recently) tested and working fine in other phones.

I did try my wife's SD Card and it went well . And used mine on my wife's phone. But the main problem is that the Phone Storage in not available. How do i correct this hardware problem?

Does the card work (is it seen) in another phone? If yest try to format it on the pc and see if it is recognised then in the N3, if not the card may be damaged.

Yes it worked well on other phone's via alcatel. So it means that there's something wrong with my hardware right ? How do i change the firmware? Maybe something went wrong with its firmware? It has never fell before since its brand new..

My note 3 was doing fine and for past few days suddenly the sd card is not getting recognised and am not able to find which application got updated latest to cause this problem. Please suggest me the solution to this.
I did the card formatting as well factory reset the phone. Still the phone gives message as Blank SD card.
SD card reads in PC and in other phones.

Hi suddenly the SD card starts functioning and today it goes on and off means, sometimes it reads by itself and other time it gives blank sd card.
My note 3 is not rooted and Samsung guys informed that warranty ceases with rooting.
Can I have other workaround without rooting.

I have the same problem with my samsung Gio model: m290k..when i inserted SD card it does not show in my phone, however same SD card is operate in other models..when i try to download whatsapp pictures same message appear on the screen..
plz guide me hw to solve this problem.

I am stuck in same problem when i was massing arround with adding users on my intex aqua power ... i accidently unmounted my internal storage i cant even see my sdcard ... BUt I have terminal emmulator installed on my phone and i can navigate arround my memory card and internal storage /// I took my back up of my memory card in my PC then i copied all the folders from internal storage to sd card and again took backup of it!! It worked for me ... I did get my files back But still coude't mount my sd card or internal storage!!!

i ve bought sm-t231 recently
but there re problems with the ext sd card
first the device said it was broken untill i d to format it to fat32
it worked but it hanges alot
eg when i play mp3 file it works for awhile then stops
is it a problem with the device or the sd card

Don't be so demanding. The only way to know which is bad, is to test the tablet with another card and test that card with another device.

SD card corrupt after update

After latest update SD card was corrupted irrespective number times I tried to set it up , result was same.
Today got the replacement SD card and it is gain corrupted
What's wrong with the update

Yes latest update was unable read exfat format that used on large capacity sdcard. You can use pc and format it to fat32, but you won't be able to put file larger than 4gb

After update i am also facing same issue sd card corrupted guys help us to get out of this problem what to do please reply solution or can i go to service center???

Probably wait for another update or change memory format to fat32 via pc

Yar similarly i got stuck with this problem too.... talked ASUS 4 5 times they said ur phone is UPDATED and tried 2 STRONTIUM 64GB Card both show Currpted while on other device its work pretty fine...m also fed up with this Asus Purchase..
Please help me guys if any solution is there.

I also facing this issue only after update if anyone knows solution please help us . How to contact asus guys i want their apologies for giving this type of bugs update

I had the same issue when I did the OT update for the zenfone Max pro M2. I searched on reditt and came across the solution. You need to download guiformat.exe from the link: https://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Hard-Disk-Utils/FAT32format-GUI.shtml
Install the above application on a laptop/ PC and re-format your SD card in this app. The card will read again in the Zenfone Max pro M2 . You will need to backup your data from the SD card before re-fromating it using the above app.
Something about EXT32 and FAT 32, which is broken by Asus in the latest update. They need to fix it.
I noticed this is mainly happening to 64GB and above SD cards.

In every 2-3 days system shows that SD card corrupted (however it is working perfect in other phones e.g. Redmi Note 6 Pro) and require format using other phone phone, even it's not reading PC FAT32 formatted file systrm, my bad that I choosen it over my previous Redmi Note 6 Pro just because of SD660 and smaller notch display. Data backup and restore is a pain for such huge size card.

try to look for a tool called GUIFormat, and format it fat32 with 64K allocation unit, that seems to work in my unit, for now.

Fixed in latest update
