[Q] samsung sm-g900f Internet issue fix? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone else got a samsung sm-g900f and are having problems with the device connecting to the internet? Purchased a brand new samsung sm-g900f and as soon as I switched it on, I was promted tp update it which I did. Its now on 5.0. Is there a fix for this issue?? Will changing the firmware fix this issue?? I dont really want to root it at this time but if changing the official firmware to another fw, fixes my internet issue then Im good to go. Sometimes the phone connects fine but most of rthe time, it struggles to connect. Strange. Any help with this will be very much appreiated, thanks in advance guys

5.0 is very buggy android version, many things are broken and not working correctly, and samsung is now loosing its not so high reputation anyway every second they do not release 5.1.1 on all devices, because they fkd up by releasing broken android version on their phones. The only thing you can do is to root your phone and install another rom based on android 5.1.1, like cm 12.1, or you can wait till christmas when samsung will(maybe) release new update for s5... I'm using cm12.1 for the same reason, and god help samsung if they will not fix their mistakes soon...

I'm having the same issues. I also have the same phone. It's on lollipop 5.0. If flash kit kat back to in, will this fix the Internet issue? Is it even possible to downgrade without having to root and trigger knox? I'm pretty clueless on roms and kernels and stuff but I can use kies and have flashed firmwares to previous Samsung phones I've owned in the past. I have also rooted and flashed rooms to my phones although at this time, I don't want to risk voiding the warranty. Help with this would be helpful. Cheers guys, your help and advise is always welcome

Have you disabled "Smart Network Switch" in WiFi settings?
It causes nothing but connectivity issues, and the phone switches automatically between data and wifi if you go out of range without it anyway

Sammobile links are banned here due to the owner not adhering to XDA rules, so you'd need to find it yourself, basically type G900F into the device section in the firmware section of the site, and find the country in the dropdown you want, they are listed in order of date, newest at the top
EDIT - You're in luck, I still have the latest KK G900F ROM in my MEGA account
https://mega.co.nz/#!gh5kDJZB!jur0wavEqAW8hj1YbxMVEIKXHC5qyi4a8i-ZHmXxX68
It's for United Kingdom, although you can change languages once it's booted
For future reference, this is where you want to be

Crazy because I bought the phone brand new (contract) and as soon as i switched it on and logged into my google account etc, the update notification popped up so i updated via wifi at home.only when OI was out and about did I notice the internet issues. Felt like banging my head against a brick wall. Hopefully this will fix the isues. I will report back once I have downgraded.

Different people have different issues with Lollipop, I was one of the few lucky ones, I also upgraded to LP on day 1, experienced battery drain issues, so factory reset, and since then, it's been near perfect, only had to disable that Smart Network Switch in WiFi to stop disconnects, and today I only have one issue where the default video player will not stick as default, other than that, it's great
I do wish I'd spent a bit longer with KK though, because I have nothing to compare LP to since I upgraded immediately too, but the phone is running well, I get great battery life, and only minor annoyances so don't feel the need to downgrade

Downloaded *Detection*'s G900FXXU1ANG2 which is 4.4.2 BTU, firmware and flashed it to my GS5 SM-G900F. I wanted to downgrade my GS5 because I was having internet troubles on Lllipop 5.0 which I updated to as soon as I switched me phone on for the first time. I can now confirm that downgrading my GS 5 using *Detection*'s firmware has worked. The issues I had with Lollipop 5.0 have been sorted. Everything on my phone works as it should, especially my internet which was my main grip. XDA needs forum members like *Detection*', the lad is a legend. I bow down to you and every other androuid god like you. You sir are a legend. Thank you.

Pleased it worked

[Q] Custom Roms for GT-I9507

Hi All,
I just got my Galaxy S4 GT-I9507 (optus AU) and noticed there is not much reference to it here.
Does anyone know if the guides for root, flashing etc are compatible with this model and if there are any limitations on loading a custom rom?
Thanks

Since no one replied, I decided to take a risk. I was able to root my i9507 with the CF-ROOT made for i9505. I will also risk installing a custom rom and get back to you with an update!

What method did you use to root and install a custom recovery?
I'n trying to flash the cf auto chainfire using odin, but i'm being told off for there being no PIT file supposedly.
EDIT: Disregard that, the issue appears to be that I had my cable plugged into a USB 3.0 port.
Flashing any modem on this variant is next to impossible.
Flashing roms is fine, but i can't seem to flash any modems lol.
Same here all 4.4 roms lose signal as soon as I out the device to sleep. I need to reboot to get optus coverage again. I could not flash any modem. I think we need a 4.3 compatible modem to come out for the 9507

Hi,
I have been playing around with a few Roms some work most don't, The signal loss can be temp fixed by putting the mobile into Aircraft mode or turning off the data then re starting the programs.
Hopefully our i9507 Modem problem will be fixed soon (with the help of the genius`s on this forum)

Really want to root my gt-i9597 but worried the aus band will get lost ect.
Also what about knox or whatever that voids your warranty is there any way around that?

Hi
Tried some kit kat roms a while ago and had dropouts so I updated to stock JB.... 4.3. I haven't noticed any drop-outs since.
Knox is a hardware level issue. It cannot be reset and it will void your warranty. What I understand is that once
your phone is rooted the knox displayed when entering download mode goes from 0*1. Have a look at this thread to explain knox.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2577856
And previous post for how to root...... Im assuming a typo i9597 is i9507
If you use a smart dock >>>I've had some issues with cpu temps and charging when docked in the smart dock.
cpu temps have been excess of 80c and not charging when the charge icon is displayed.
I used an aftermarket usb charger from jaycar and removed a usb extension cable to try to minimises voltage drop.
And also removed a heap of bloatware with android tuner. So far so good.
Thanks for heads with the thread replies Fella's, Thought I'd be stuck out in the world, with a a standard 4G samsung phone.. Eeeek!
Thanks for GTi9505 CF Root via odin... Couldnt be easier, and something in the setup reported it had disabled knox Too!
This Custom recovery worked for me!

And I was able to get rid of the Optus Boot animation with this S5 animation... I was on 4.3 though,

Is there a way to downgrade from 4.4.2 into 4.3 in the near future?

Hi guys. Ive been reading a lot about this one. And i find it very imposible to do right now. I saw some thread here regarding to this one that im posting right now. So my main concern is is there a way to downgrade this kitkat into jellybean? Put aside note 3 for now. Does it work on other phones as well? Because i really dont like the new kitkat and i want to go back from 4.3. Yeah yeah i did some research regarding to this because of the new bootloader. I really hope that we can be able to downgrade.

No... Samsung give out updates, they don't expect you to downgrade.... Besides, the upgrades are supposed to add performance and remove security exploits.... Why would they allow you to go back to something that's not so well protected and possibly damage your device that then gets fixed under warranty....
Yes officially. You can't downgrade. But im asking is there a way or in the near future that we can go back to jellybean? Again lets put aside note 3 for now since it is still new. Lets think.... Note 2! For example i updated to 4.4.X as well. Can i go back to 4.2.1?
God almighty. .why would you want to. ..who wants to go backwords. ..If you do...why did you go forwards. .I loved the escort mark 2 but I sure as hell wouldn't swap my focus for one... (the only way this might not apply is with women lol)

NO, for the 10000000th time. Please learn to read before posting next time, thank you.
Mate for the 10000000th time, everyone read your question and is trying to explain that downgrading the software of a smartphone is stupid. Especially true for the Note 3, 4.3 to 4.4.
The only reason you might want to downgrade, is that you want to put CM on your device. In which case ask so. It is unlikely that you will be able to downgrade, more likely CM will get support for the new BL
Its a fair enough question to ask. I would also like a dafe way to downgrade to install things like CM. IMO its a control thing. One that I dont like. But it is what it is.

By the way. May it is possible. Not right atm but in near future. We have to get the correct fast boot access to unlock the bootloader. Then we have to flash a file called flashall. This file is already under construction by myself but it's tricky. After this file flashed successfully we are able to flash an original bootloader from former rom.
So u see its possible. Only have to wait for a dev or anybody else who can give me fast boot access.

Let's just be calm about this I agree we won't be seeing official downgranding but for one I would downgrade to 4.3. Android is all about choices and preferences that is one of the differences from ios we get to choose customize down to the bone...Why something older and propably not better some people have their reasons. Some people prefer that old chevy or challenger from a new mercedes I don't know. I for one miss lights effect from 4.3 the lockscreen effect. I was on stock rom unrooted and it had this effect then rooted upgraded to 4.4.2 poland and it didn't have it got a little disapointed. I agree that 4.4.2 is a better os and also agree that my reason for wanting to downgrade is somewhat stupid but that's the beauty of android from the start you get it exactly how you want it today in the world of android os we are made unable to downgrade tomorrow who knows? The liberty of choice in this os is getting smaller and smaller day by day...
Ok ok
Um
No
U
Can
Not
Do
It.
Y??
It's a permanent change to the bootloader that cannot be downgraded.
If that's hard to understand then I don't know what to tell you.
But seriously read a little

There are more reasons to downgrade. After upgrading to KitKat my phone is messed up bad. I got reboots all the time now. I never rooted, I never installed ROMS. All is plain stock. If someone would offer me a working downgrade I would even consider paying this person for it. My phone is unreliable right now.

Consensus seems to be that you can't downgrade the Samsung Note 3 kit kat bootloader, which prevents downgrade to Jelly bean .
On other makes, e.g HTC it is possible to downgrade bootloader and Android, providing you've got S Off

I believe OP didn't try to ask same question a millionth time. What he tried to ask was, will there be a method to downgrade to JB? If that's the case it's very unlikely. In theory of course software changes can be reversed but sometimes it needs some hacking and I don't think anyone will think it's worth the effort.

Network continuallly disconnecting on i9505

Tonight I installed KitKat 4.4.4 (tried 2 different 4.4.4 roms) on an i9505 which was previously running jelly bean (stock, touchwiz).
The phone network keeps disconnecting on it. If I go into wireless and networks/more/mobile networks/network operators and select my provider through there, it will connect and work fine for a while, but will then disconnect itself again randomly. The IMEI is all fine. This is the first time i've really been stuck with a problem, and i've been flashing roms on multiple phones for a long time.
Why would it be working, but keep disconnecting itself? So annoying..
Anyone able to give me some help here please? Would really be much appreciated, thanks..
Just thought....
My mate whose phone it is has gone away so I won't be able to try this until tomorrow, but maybe it's not a UK baseband on it..
I'm sure I've used basebands before though that weren't specifically for my country on other galaxy phones, but it's a good possibility do you think? I didn't think it could cause that, until now..
I can't believe I never thought of trying that at the time, I'll find out if that is the problem tomorrow.
Solved!!
For anyone experiencing the same problem...
Flash a baseband which is specifically for your country with Odin - WITH AUTO REBOOT UNCHECKED
take battery out. Boot into download mode. Flash the same baseband again. For some reason if you only flash it once and leave reboot checked it doesn't work.
Phone will boot, and you will find that the problem is fixed.
Hope this helps someone else avoid the **** that I encountered.
Thanks!

I was scratching my head for a while with that problem, and I'd consider myself pretty experienced with android and flashing ROMs.
I was searching the net, and I found forum posts of people saying they had the same problem, I even found posts that said SOLVED!!! in them, with no explanation as to how it was solved lol. Great help.
Anyways, peace all.
And 1eyedmonster, just gimme a shout if you want the one I used and I'll send you it, or pm me your gmail add, whatever..

Perfectly good S4 (GT-I9500) rarely connects to cell service after OTA upgrade. Help!

Hi all, I have a GT-I9500 GSM (Iraqi firmware I9500XXUHPB3, 5.0.1) Galaxy S4 which I am using in the US on AT&T's network. Bought the phone secondhand and have been using it for years - worked absolutely perfect. A while back received an OTA upgrade notification and allowed it. Starting immediately afterwards, phone will rarely connect to the cell phone network (not even talking about data here, phone calls/SMS aren't working!). Once every few minutes to every few hours and shortly after reboot it will pick up the signal, but then within seconds it's back to no network connection.
The update installation was pretty quick so I'm not sure what actually got upgraded - I'm wondering if it was the modem? Anyway my question is: what would you suggest to a newbie when it comes to phones (with plenty IT experience in PCs) as a way to try fixing it? I'm perfectly fine with attempting to flash/root it, though I've never done it before, it seems like a straightforward enough process. However there doesn't seem to be a US firmware for this phone. I'm thinking Canadian firmware/modem might be the best way to go? Should I try the modem first, or firmware? I'd love to not have to replace this perfectly functioning (hardware-wise) phone if I can avoid it - don't have the funds for a replacement right now. Many thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Update: solved ?
(No, not solved. It looked optimistic for a while, but still no signal)
I followed instructions you will find by searching Google for:
"Update Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 with Android 5.0.1 Lollipop Official Firmware" on HowToRootMobile
(I'm a new user here so it won't let me post a link)
to flash a Russian 5.0.1 firmware.
After a reasonable signal for a short while, I'm now back to looking at the circle with a line across it (no signal).
I have the same case but my s4 is I9505 and i did not do anything to the phone not even root it just stopped working

I am becoming increasingly convinced that this is planned obsolescence. Your phone may have installed the same update without prompting. Needless to say my next phone will not be a Samsung.
Try flashing the latest modem via Odin....see this thread for flashable modems http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/general/ref-galaxy-s4-i9505-modems-bootloaders-t3315987

Don't confuse it man...
He clearly has an i9500 and you've an i9505.
@Stranger2k
Try to flash previous modem and see if it works.

New Verizon S7 .. need to use on Tmobile (band 12)

Just got a brand new verizon S7 (since my aunt did not want it). I am on Tmobile and have no plans to change to Verizon. I popped in my Tmo sim and it works, but I guess I am still missing Band 12 and maybe wifi calling. It has been a while since I have done custom roms and rooting. I would appreciate some pointers as these are my criteria
1) Need all the bands possible to be used on Tmobile
2) Samsung Pay and android Pay
3) Root is not required for what I do and sometimes my wortk email will not install when it snifs root. (it used to on my S5 2 years ago)
Right now I am on G930VVRS4APH1 (BASEBAND VERSION and build)
Looking for advise on what I should do. I read too much and am confused about being in bootloader V3 or V4 and not able to get back . I am familiar with Odin and TWRP etc, but have notg kept up with the community. With my S6 I have mostly stayed stock.
Help me out folks if you can and especially with links and what firmware and ROM to install.

Don't root if you need this. Samsung Pay gets disabled permanently when Knox is tripped, and Android Pay doesn't work when rooted.

Wrong. Pls give out accurate information. Knox never gets tripped as the kernel we use doesn't check dm-verity. So you Knox will not get tripped . But Sammy pay will not work with root. However Android Pay will work , use cloak from xposed. [emoji12] [emoji318]
Merry Christmas

Thanks for the clarification. I was thinking of the S7 int'l (which I own) that is rooted with CF Autoroot, which trips Knox. Forgot about the kernel used on the US version.

OK in that case once you trip Knox that's it for Sammy pay period. But android pay will still work. Sorry thought it was a US version

Is there a good U version of the firmware that I can install ? Any idea on what would be a good firmware/Rom I should flash.
Love to get some pointers.

Don't use U fw it sucks! Has no doze which is the main battery saver built into MM. Force doze does not cut it. I suggest you flash a rom with working doze whatever you flash. Good luck and Merry Christmas to you.

I was in your situation as well , since I got a Verizon Galaxy S7 from a deal at Best Buy , but I needed to used it on T-Mobile . I believe I successfully flashed the latest APK1 T-mobile firmware (latest one from early November) . I am able to use WiFi calling and MMS , but I haven't tried video calling yet. Looks like I'm getting 4g LTE speeds also (I live in suburban part of Los Angeles).
Use this post from XDA forum to find the latest firmware version :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s7/help/one-stock-t-mobile-930-firmware-t3520525
I also used this guide as well :
http://www.w0lfdroid.com/2016/06/Ho...al-Firmware-on-Samsung-Galaxy-S7-S7-Edge.html
However, I suggest d/l 'ing the USB drivers from Samsung website directly, instead of the source cited in that website (seems suspicious). Also, having SmartSwitch on the PC saves so much time to backup your current phone's contents, believe me!
Hope that helps.

I actually need to do the exact same thing but my Verizon S7 is on the G930VVRU4API3, so from my understanding the U firmware i need to flash is the G930UUEU4API3?
just a tad bit off topic here, but i'm on tmobile right now with a tmo version S7 and wondering if it will work on Verizon if i unlock the phone?
