Hello.
I reset my phone a few times already but i still can't grab a update that is about 142MB in size. It fails at 26 percent. I am running 4.4.2 Model: SM-G900A. Not sure what my next step is.
sammobile dot com, download the new ROM, flash with ODIN
Or try with KIES3 first

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah i tried Kies, and it was pretty worthless for me. I will try what you suggested.

Flashed twice now to stock firmware 4.4.2 with Odin same result. Update fails at 26 percent.
Try flashing the PIT file along with the stock ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2802088&d=1402948224
Make sure that is the correct PIT file, the link is for the 16GB SM-G900A

I tried that, thanks, but now the update fails again but at 32 percent, lol smh. I'm i suppose to run updates first from the google store then try to update?
No, google store has nothing to do with ROM updates
Make sure you're running ODIN as Administrator

Yes i have been running it as administrator. So far the same result 32% then fails.
Tried a different USB lead, Different USB port, Different PC?
You are running this on a dedicated PC, and not a Mac right?
Phone is in Download Mode?
Samsung Drivers installed?
What is the error when it fails?
Bootloader not locked?

Not sure about the bootloader thing, and or how to check.
Seems to be a big issue after a little more digging. https://forums.att.com/t5/Samsung-D...re-Update-Failed/td-p/4058678/highlight/false
Are you on AT&T?
If yes, there is a high chance the bootloader is locked and ODIN will always fail
May need to take it to a repair store
This issue is now closed. I went to a AT&T service center this morning and had them update me to 5.0. I believe i went about this all wrong. I should have just downloaded 5.0 firmware from here and just flash it with that. Instead of messing around with and wasting time with 4.4.2 then trying to update via OTA to 5.0, smh. Thanks for the time on this matter.
Lesson learned
Ah well at least you got it sorted
Just wanted to point out you are wrong, locked bootloader does not stop odin from working, ive reflashed my phone more times than i have fingers and toes.

I have searched and searched and cannot find any fix for my issue hopefully I can get the help here like always.
Last night I flashed ktoonz kernel like I have a thousand times before and it failed in TWRP recovery, I thought nothing of it, hit reboot, and am now at a brick wall. My Gs4 acts like the Gs2 with a stuck power button, upon powering it on, it goes straight into a loop vibrating every few seconds over and over, I can't get into recovery mode and for that matter can't even get the the initial Samsung splash screen to pop up. The only thing I can do with the phone is boot into download mode, I tried restoring several times with Heimdall on my Mac and always failed when the system reached 100%, it wouldn't move past that point. I have also just finished flashing it with Odin on a friends Windows laptop which completed successfully each time but the phone is still doing the same thing. I need help, I can't afford a replacement right now and am just a little desperate!

Odin and Heimdall don't have any options to RESTORE anything.
Both those utilities can only do one thing, they can flash firmware
TAR files. (and any other valid TAR files)
My advice to you is to simply go to SamMobile.com and download
the specific odin flash firmware for your phone model and country.
Here is an example of what you will find at SamMobile: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/2/
Good luck!

I understand what they do, that is why I used them. I downloaded both the amdl and amdb firmware from SamMabile.com and neither of them worked, it still goes through the same process.

I would keep trying Odin. Try different usb ports, don't use hub. Make sure you have the original usb cord. If it can get into download mode there's hope.
I tried flashing through Odin a few more times today with no luck, even tried to repartition with a .pit file and that failed. I think my phone is just screwed.

Actually, I had the same exact problem when I flashed KTkernel to my S4 a while back. At first I tried Odin, and it said flash was successful, but still no recovery mode or any screen.
I actually used KIES, either firmware recovery or firmware update. And that solved it. The phone boot up normally after KIES.

How exactly were you able to do this? Kies doesn't recognize the phone in download mode.
Make sure your KIES is up to date, and it should recognize the phone.

Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be working for me, either. Kies is not recognizing my phone in emergency firmware recovery on OS X or Windows.
See if you can find help making kies to recognize your device. I think you should be able to since you used Odin.
Have you tried to Odin on a windows instead of a mac.

Same problem. I tried flashing Ktweaker, install failed, and now the phone just vibrates every few seconds.
I have tried installing the PIT file, as well as the original firmware. Trying to reinstall the recovery ends with a "Fail" message.
Totally stumped.
I scheduled a repair with Samsung. Mines boxed up ready to go, just haven't sent it off yet. I gave up trying to fix it and went back to my iphone.

Try this guide. It seems to be the same phone as yours.
If you are trying to go back to 4.3 from 4.4.2 then it won't be possible. You will now have to stay in KitKat only and wait for more ROM for KitKat.
Sent from my SM-N900 using Tapatalk
Did you try flashing with update bootloader ticked? If you tried that already then I think you are going to have to wait for the hk version of kit Kat for your phone to work again.

Its not ticked, i might just have to wait to an HK firmware to update this because any other i have tried is not working and it says PIT FAIL when i try this solution http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2613374. even though i followed the instructions step by step.
Is there another way to flash my device other than Odin? and yes ADB does not work

Hmm.
Weird.
Do you know how to use heimdall?
Use it to have a look at your pit file and compare it to the one in the CSC zip. See what all is different.
Or just post your pit here.
EDIT: Just noticed that you have a 16GB version. I don't know how to help you there, man. You need a completely different pit file. One that is designed for 16GB. But since that model was only launched in Hong Kong, I don't think you will find one from outside, unless somebody can make one specifically for you. I have been trying to learn to do that, but as of yet, I can't.
Without a proper pit file, your only options are either wait for the Hong Kong Kitkat version or try installing the Sweet ROM.

Well thats an issue because im not sure if this my right PIT FILE for this phone. Because usually it will go smoothly for these manual updates using Odin and this is my first encountering this error. And my fault i didnt backup my ROM which i should have done first before getting excited with this KitKat for my Note 3. That CSC file i got that from this site http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2613374 and just followed instructions on how to do it, but it will just give me that error when i try to apply that method. But here's the PIT file that i got from that download.
I think its on a wrong region because i got that leaked update here http://www.sammobile.com/2014/01/13...kitkat-rolling-out-to-galaxy-note-3-sm-n9005/ and it looks like from Poland? does that matter? because my Note 3 is and HK version?
I have done so many phones rooted them and install custom roms this is the first time it failed on me. And funny thing is its my own cell phone lol

You gave me the pit file from the zip. I was asking for the one from your phone.
But anyway I found one for the 16GB version somehwere. I am taking a look at it. Will try editing it to fit your needs. Give me a little while.
And yes, it matters, because the pit file determines the sizes of the various partitions. Since yours is a 16GB version, the pit from a 32GB won't work.

Try flashing this tar file. Put it in the CSC part of the Odin.

ok, so my phone hangs at the SAMSUNG, GALAXY S4 screen no matter what I wipe or flash. I want to odin it back to stock and start over, but all I see are the mk2 and nb1 .tar files. I have one of the very first gs4's, had it first day and it rooted without safestrap. Where are those .tar files to odin?
Go to sammobile.com and search. Get the MDL firmware, and be ready to root and freeze the update or put a ROM on it before it updates and you can't exploit it anymore.

Make sure the download is full. Try different USB ports and different cables. Make sure you have the latest Samsung drivers also. If it's giving you an issue still then you might have partially upgraded and might need to flash a newer firmware, but I would hold off on that as long as possible in order to keep your freedom.

A 910F with a Verizon mobo?
Might be tricky to flash.
You can access download mode?
Tried different cables / USB ports?
I really doubt that you can flash stock ROM from SD when phone is boot looping.
Maybe with terminal but you would have to flash TWRP for that first.
Ok - haven't seen this problem anywhere - all I see are posts and articles regarding how to get it off the Samsung screen during boot... Which is a Factory Data Reset... I have to FDR my phone daily.. not running anything custom (accept this was originally a Rent-A-Center phone - and I know they have a special system built in to kill the phone if its not paid for etc... Was paid off well over a year ago)
How do I fix this?? Do I have to root and install a custom ROM?? Do I have to do something else? Having to FDR every day, and sometimes twice is becoming rather annoying.

Do I have to use KIES for that, or is there a better way to do it? I have not flashed anything before... I know it is a little different than installing an OS on a computer.

Nope, you just download Odin (PC software) and download stock firmware (search in Sammobile or Updato) and look for a tutorial on how to flash software through Odin and you're all set

Ok - Update..
I have searched both Updato and Sammobile - nothing but European and otherwise non-USA Firmware - I also cannot get Odin - or frankly Kies to work either... Kies does not find the device, and Odin acts like it is there, but nothing I put in it is working..
CWM Recovery? Nada... Doesnt do anything through Odin - just stares at me -
ADB and FB? They briefly flash on my PC screen and vanish - no options to do anything... I have updated the Samsung USB drivers 4 times... So I am not sure what to do next..
Thanks for the help so far!

What's your phone's model? It doesn't have to be carrier-specific to be able to flash it.
Also, try TWRP instead of CWM recovery, devs seem to prefer TWRP overall.
SM-N900T is the model number.. I'll give TWRP a shot next. Maybe I'll have better luck with it.
Could the RAC software be putting a wall up that I can't get through? I bricked a phone I was getting through them once because I tried to update Android through Kies (on an S5) and discovered they don't use stock ROM's with their phones.

I've got a N900T and I've found software in both Sammobile and Updato, I don't know why you're not finding anything (N900T is supposed to be T-Mobile's variant)
Anyway, I would try out the following tutorial: Link
I found it very useful when I wanted to completely flash my phone clean and root.
I am not sure about what roadblocks you could have of this phone being a RAC phone, but if you still want to give it a try I'd suggest you try out the tutorial I showed you
