[Q] Lock screen button not working (software) - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So... I was messing about in the root storage (probably my first mistake) and was trying to delete the boot animations when i accidentally deleted something i probably shouldnt have that make the screen lock button stop working. So far i have tried unrooting, factory reset and tried to find the firmware but couldn't. The Model is SM-G900i (Australia) (Android 4.4.2). i know its not physical because it still works when i hold it to show the device options. so.... anyone got anything...?
If you need anymore info ill post it. Thanks!

None available, but I suggest you use the search function and do some reading because this has been mentioned dozens of times already. The best you can do at this point is take the phone to a BestBuys with a Sumsung Kiosk and see if they will reflash it. You need to search to find out more information about it.

Yea, this is the second time this week my phone has bricked for no reason. At&t warranty center ran the samsung tool on it last time and fixed it.

Sounds like it needs to be replaced (warranty or insurance), but I would try for warranty first. If it bricked for no reason at all, I assume you are not rooted and have nothing custom on the phone? Because if you do, it could prevent a warranty claim. Samsung can and will send you a bill if they find anything has been tampered with. Good luck.
You can check here...
Mind you however, that is ONLY for devices running pre-MF3 bootloaders. If you attempt to flash it as a stock recovery on a MF3 device your end up with a brick. If your on MF3 and have a brick currently, there isn't a way to go back outside of sending the phone back to Samsung or going to Best Buy's Samsung Experience Center.

This is by far your best option, use ODIN and flash these files to return to a stock MF3. Updating to anything higher then MF3 is generally ill-advised. At least for the moment...

Have you tested or seen anyone else report that the current Safestrap works with MJ6 or you can even gain root access with MJ6?
Not being rude, but please don't offer advice if you are unsure of the outcome (this means more than one person has confirmed working or you have tested it yourself). I personally don't think it hurts to make a suggestion but let the person know it hasn't been tested or you are unsure of the outcome.
Had the OP taken your advice before you were corrected, they would have been upgraded to MJ6 with no option for running a custom ROM or getting root access (hopefully this won't be the case for long).

The CSC file seems to be giving me problems. I've tried different versions of ODIN (v3.04,3.07,3.09,1.85) and they all have the same problem.

I saw your other post with the Odin print out. It looks to me like it's still a bad download, the md5 is not checking.
Edit, what are you using to extract the md5 files from the zip? Use 7-zip.

International n9005 i will search for it on sammobile
i had bad time solving this issue , however i finally found out the issue was with bootloader.. who ever facing this issue try this once ...hope it works for u as well... i was facing similar issue when i flashed 4.4.2 n9005xxuena6 .. after flashing the rom...using odin flash the attached file under bootloader and allow it to auto reboot.
hope this helps...
all credits to xda users ...if not for xda could not have solved it.
If the OP doesn't have KK then this will REALLY screw them up...
Once the KK bootloader is flashed you can't go back to JB... Only flash if you are trying to use a Kitkat rom or are on KK. DON'T flash this rom then try to fix anything by flashing a JB rom as you will get bootloops....
Firmware smn900v
Hey guys, I am trying to find firmware for the smn900v USA. I went to sammobile but the download site is telling me I have to sign up to be able to download a file of that size. Any help would be great on finding this firmware, I soft bricked my phone and need to re-install the firmware. Thanks
Is it a problem to register on sammobile??? It's free and won't cost you more than a few minutes. Then you can download anything you want

No the problem isnt with sammobile. If you read what I typed, it is the download site that is wanting me to sign up and pay for the download because it is over 1.04gb.
There has to be a place to find this file without giving my bank info out. Thanks

1)Downloadimg the stock ROM.....
-Go to sammobile.com.
-Search for your model (i9500) in the firmwares section.
-filter the list by choosing the country you're from.
-Download the latest firmware that exist there.
(if you want to skip the above steps, tell me where are you from and i will get you a good link )
2)Flashing....
-After downloading the firmware, extract it to get the md5 file.
-Download the latest samsung usb drivers and install it(google it).
-Download Odin program (i suggest Odin 3.09 or 3.07)
-Open Odin, and press the button that says PDA or AP in some versions, and load the firmware md5 file.
-Boot into download mode by switching off the phone and holding (power button & home button & volume down) till you get the prompt screen, then press the volume up button once.
-Connect your phone to PC and then check if the Odin log says "Added!!" and then press start.
Wait for it to boot.

There is no difference, the one you downloaded as one file works the same as the 4 files, no need to download anything else.

SM-G900W8 Factory firmware

I have a SM-G900W8 boot-looping device, none of HOME firmwares could have helped me to amend the phone.
The device is still bootlooping, and I was told there was a FIRMWARE firmware which consists of 4 files, it's usually being called the service firmware as well.
This firmware could help me to stop the bootlooping process.
I've been searching this kind of firmware here, then i've checked out 3 different firmwares at fw.updato.com, but none of them are service.
Could anyone please tell me if is it possible to find the certain service firmware?
Service firmware will wipe data and cache partitions in your phone, this is the difference.
You can try to do it by yourself from recovery.
Wiping cache partition only should help if it's a software problem.
Or try to use samfirm tool to download the latest service firmware for your phone.
You'll have to enter your phone's model, CSC and tick "Binary nature".
Samfirm tool points me to fw.updato.com, which has been used already. I downloaded 3 firmwares and none of them suites me.

Hmm, suspected something like that... I'm afraid, this is a HW problem.
Defecitve emmc chip is an often problem for S5.
In this case your best bet is to swap the motherboard.
