Over on the S6 forum, there's a thread about camera sensors, with different users reporting different sensors being used in their handsets:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3097817
It seems most people either have Sony sensors, or Isocell sensors (from the Note 4).
I, strangely, have a mix of both - Sony for the rear and Infocell for the front.
Anybody got any other variations?

So iso in front and Sony in the rear
I would love to know why different sensors for the same phone and in so short time. We don't even know if one takes better pictures then the other
Sony in the back, ISO in the front.
64 GB Black AT&T Edge.
Seems like sony has brighter pictures than isocell.
Sorry for the messy room. Poorfag house.

I wouldn't be surprised. Sony cover over 40% of the camera sensor market right now. They supply for the best DSLRs as well. So yeah, I would try Sony over Samsung when it comes to camera sensors. But I don't think it'll matter that much in this case.
I have a Sony IMX240 for rear btw. T-Mobile 64GB Edge.
Sony rear
Isocell front
S6 edge from France.

Anyone else feel like there camera has degraded in quality since its been on?
I tried it instantly when i opened it out of the box and was amazed.
Now it almost looks as if the image isn't as sharp as it could be , nowhere near as sharp as some images I've seen on here anyway.
All my settings are the same
But beyond that. is anyone also having like a slow front facing camera? Mine is really laggy like from the lock screen last night my friend used it to test my phone and it looked terrible being so lag. trying to show how good it was against there iPhone which they are all so sucked into
No, theres no half-life for the camera

LOL good one!
Either your camera had a smudge on lens or you never took off the protective coating plastic on the camera lens.

Lol, I put money on the latter.
Whenever I notice my pics aren't as clear as a should be it's usually due to smudges on the lens
Regardless i personally dont think my camera is always as sharp as it could be almost like a pastel effect is on the screen.

Photos taken in manual mode under bright condition are nearly perfect, truly a better camera from my old Note 2.
Camera is phenomenal for me

No i didnt. I dont know i just look at pictures especially indoor and there not very sharp ill post some pics up.
Ive just noticed there is another protective layer on the camera but not sure if tis meant to be there it is very hard to get off
It's hard to see but the camera has a plastic covering it that you need to manually take off. Sorry if you already did.

And down the rabbit hole we go....
Hi all, I know it might sound stupid, but is there a plastic film on the edge plus camera lens?
I'm used to find it on every new phone I get (it was present event on my last note 4 and galaxy s6), but looking at the camera lens of my new Galaxy s6 Edge Plus...it doesn't seems to be any plastic film. I was only able to spot and remover a tiny plastic film on the flash sensor. That's it. Am I right?
Thanks in advance
Mine was same as yours. I looked with magnification and found nothing on camera.

Anyone have their camera slightly off center? First Samsung handset and not sure if the camera underneath the lens should be centered? Mine is slightly below center, a non-issue but still curious.

It's due to OIS. If you hold the phone in selfi position with rear camera and keep trying different focuses and shake, you'll see your camera hole moving accordingly..

Hi everyone, I watched a YouTube video about the Xperia Z5 Premium, I was really disappointed when I saw the guy using the camera...because there was a really noticeable pink tint on the middle of the screen, the same as the Xperia Z3 which my girlfriend change for a S6 edge after 3 return to sony who gave 3 new Xperia Z3
Actually what do you think about it ? Z5 (Premium) on camera test has been marked better than the s6 edge...but with an other test on YouTube (not a "professional ") we can clearly see that the s6 edge is really better...
https://youtu.be/nOG_yRKBe-g
Does sony give a better phone to professional test ?
Here youtube video where you can notice the famous pink tint :
(sorry if there some mistakes in English because I'm French)
It could be a developer or preview unit or even perhaps it could be due the camera
Sometimes the camera looking at a digital display may offset some things

Tbh, the pictures of the s6 looks kinda fake (albeit being gorgeous at the same time) if I want oversaturation, I would do it on the computer and not have all my pictures be over coloured. Let's see what the z5 can dish out

No, there is no pink tint when looking it with eyes. it comes from the camera this is being filmed on.

Exactly. It's his face reflection.
i got a z5 premium gold and i can confirm that pink tint is not there so you all don't have to worry about it my z3 did get pink well not pink but dark round circle ball shadow kind of mark from camera but after sony released 5.1.1 to it the dark shadow thing disapeared in the camera so i hope this issue wont occure on z5 premium as well.
I have same in my Z3 Dual
I don't have this problem on my Xperia Z5 Premium Dual (E6883) Malaysia version, mine is clear and no pink stuff on the center.
Hi, I have an issue with my S7 edge's camera. Every time I take a picture in low light with street lamps or other source of light there are always some reflections on the photo. Front cam does this too.
You should show some of the pictures
i guess the reflections are purple?
if yes, this is IR or UV light hitting the sensor (same with candles), due to missing or imperfect IR or UV filter... nothing you can fix!

They are whatever the light is. I cant attach picture until I have at least 10 posts here.

Anyone else notice how the front cam isn't so sharp at times? If I am not holding my phone from the same direction as the light source, the pics are kinda blurry. It's currently 10am where I am and the sun is shining bright yet this camera is producing low quality images while indoors like there isn't enough light though there is. It's as if the light needs to shine directly into the sensor to create sharper images. My Nexus 6p took way better pics in low and even no light. I will post pics from both devices for comparison. Anyone else care to post some as well?

I had an issue with the screen protector i had put on..it was covering the front cam and due to finger print smudges the selfie pics were coming blurry.i removed that protector and now it looks quite good. Jist check if ur front camera is not getting smudged with finger prints.

Nah, I have a very nice microfiber cloth I cleaned it with several times before posting this. It's just a strange thing with the lighting. I feel as if the camera just isn't good without all of the light available going into the sensor. Give me some time to get these pictures in order. You will see what I mean

I noticed this. Here is a pic I snapped yesterday, definitely soft, https://photos.google.com/share/AF1...?key=c3QtZHpLdlNWRjVkNXNtUWpua2hGN240em82UElR I went into the settings and had to adjust the Skin tone, it was on 2. 0 seems clearer? I'll have to test. FFC is the Sony IMX320 (rear is Sony IMX333) on mine.

Agree. There has to be an update as this has a killer sensor.
Sounds like the issue that plagued some GS7 units as well. Sad to see

I thought it was just me or the lighting in my room here. Definitely seems like the focus is off and they all come out somewhat blurry. Big draw for me was getting this to get better group selfies (don't judge). I hope a firmware update fixes this.

After doing research, it seems to be the exact same issue. I read where someone had taken their S7 to best buy and compared it with other display units or something like that. Their results were that another device had an okay camera and then another was bad just like theirs... Or something like that lol. Can't remember currently. Either way, this camera is butt ???
