Anyone else feel like there camera has degraded in quality since its been on?
I tried it instantly when i opened it out of the box and was amazed.
Now it almost looks as if the image isn't as sharp as it could be , nowhere near as sharp as some images I've seen on here anyway.
All my settings are the same
But beyond that. is anyone also having like a slow front facing camera? Mine is really laggy like from the lock screen last night my friend used it to test my phone and it looked terrible being so lag. trying to show how good it was against there iPhone which they are all so sucked into
No, theres no half-life for the camera

LOL good one!
Either your camera had a smudge on lens or you never took off the protective coating plastic on the camera lens.

Lol, I put money on the latter.
Whenever I notice my pics aren't as clear as a should be it's usually due to smudges on the lens
Regardless i personally dont think my camera is always as sharp as it could be almost like a pastel effect is on the screen.

Photos taken in manual mode under bright condition are nearly perfect, truly a better camera from my old Note 2.
Camera is phenomenal for me

No i didnt. I dont know i just look at pictures especially indoor and there not very sharp ill post some pics up.
Ive just noticed there is another protective layer on the camera but not sure if tis meant to be there it is very hard to get off
It's hard to see but the camera has a plastic covering it that you need to manually take off. Sorry if you already did.

And down the rabbit hole we go....
Related
as on others devices (S2),also on Note i noticed that autofocus is not perfect.
On macro it works well, but on normal photos and expecially ZOOMING....i can not get a good focus.
Try to zoom 4x ...impossible to get a correct focus..for me
a personal problem...or firmware problem....?
i have last firm ...upgraded on line 2 days ago.
Regards..
You should never use digital zoom on a phone camera the results are always terrible. Also I noticed my SGSII had a tough time auto focusing during videos. It was always freaking out trying to focus on the center object.
on HTC HD2 autofocus works well also zooming...
samsung optical software are very bad...
No solution?
Have you guys noticed a tiny piece of protective plastic over the camera lens? May or not be obvious, but have you removed that?

are you on 2.3.6? On my note (2.3.6), I just tried what you described (4x zoom and focus) and it had no trouble focusing.
This was indoors, with some light coming through the window blinds and it's almost sunset outside. So not really bright inside.
Granted, digital zoom is always (and I mean always) a bad call compared to taking an unzoomed photo and cropping/enlarging yourself, but at least the phone had no trouble focusing while zoomed in.
its not just you
Its not just you. I have the same proplem now, but did not when i recieved it. The problem is just more aparent when zooming in the phone but you also see it unzoomed on the full photo on the PC. Auto focus just does not do its job and everything is really blurry. I think the problem only came up after a firmware upgrade, but i may be mistaken.
I already tried downgrading which did not work (maybe an even older version is required?) but then noticed the CSC code wrongly set to KOR. Stetting it to the for me correct DBT did not help either.
Anyone has this without having upgraded? Anyone solved it?<
Update: Looking back at made photos... If this is a software issue, it was not present in firmare KK9. I got a photo mentioning that firmware that was ok. However I have this version installed now, and focusing is not ok.
However i still see it possible that some changed from more recent firmwares like a camara firmware change made it in that was not reversed when installing the older version.
I'd appreciate if we could work together in narrowing down this problem by comparing situations.
My phone's auto-focus was working fine until I did the KKA firmware update. Now it is crap. I've been hoping for another update to fix it, bit no dice so far!
I have the same problem. I was considering sending my Note back or trying to find a camera replacement until I figured out my first few pix (pre update) were very good. I just hope an update comes soon because I'm working with a Mac at home and have failed to root or flash one of the updated roms.

The camera in the Galaxy Note has about 8 million photosensors. That defines the resolution you're going to get. Digital zoom only enlarges the pixels, interpolating, it's the same if you shoot without zoom and then enlarge the picture on the computer.
For me the camera on the Galaxy Note is pretty capable, better than a compact camera I had 6 years ago.
I don't know who you're responding to with the post of your image sample, but I cannot get anything close to this at the moment. Only in macro mode. The problems is auto focus, it has nothing to do with zoom.
I decided to ask for a replacement or repair from amazon.de and was in luck.
Due to an extended cristmas timeframe in which you can just send it back or get a replacement I just sent mine back and they sent me a new one right away.
The new one is fine now. The camera photos are really good.
Plus, now the screen on this new one is nicely even compared to the slightly uneven display brightness in some areas of the screen (especially on grey color) on my old one.
Also got the latest firmware on it without a problem.
So I'm really happy now
Im sure you guys know in photos you can touch the screen to set your focus point.
Digital zoom will just give you crap results, avoid this and just zoom and crop in editing which will give you a much better image.

You are right, just took the torch to have a look at it, there is pink but not as much as in the photo, Oh well, I mainly use it as a phone.
Is there a way to minimize it or it is hardware?
Also the picture in the above post by "ahalford" also have a bit of pink in it.

Indeed. Adjustable, though, through Photoshop in 1 second. Mainly can be seen on "Auto white balance" setting.
Here is one more. Focusing on red-orange gamma, whites in the background also get warm tones.
Anyways, Galaxy camera after HTC's is a revelation.

It's a purely hardware issue. To the extent that it can be minimized is based on software.
No amount of megapixels can make-up for the fact our all camera phone sensors are ridiculously small, and thus cannot capture sufficient light which creates the pink effect. =) It is also for this reason that you will not see this effect when the place is extremely bright (e.g., taking a picture outside on sunny day while under the sun and not in any shaded areas).
Once you know how to look for it, you'll know that this happens across platforms. Camera sensors just suck. Every photo I've seen from a camera phone that is not well lit has exhibited this effect.
You could always take pictures along the red-spectrum. It'll be camouflaged that way if it bothers you. *Shrugs* Or keep flash enabled all the time.
I'm loving this camera!

Anyone else notice how the front cam isn't so sharp at times? If I am not holding my phone from the same direction as the light source, the pics are kinda blurry. It's currently 10am where I am and the sun is shining bright yet this camera is producing low quality images while indoors like there isn't enough light though there is. It's as if the light needs to shine directly into the sensor to create sharper images. My Nexus 6p took way better pics in low and even no light. I will post pics from both devices for comparison. Anyone else care to post some as well?

I had an issue with the screen protector i had put on..it was covering the front cam and due to finger print smudges the selfie pics were coming blurry.i removed that protector and now it looks quite good. Jist check if ur front camera is not getting smudged with finger prints.

Nah, I have a very nice microfiber cloth I cleaned it with several times before posting this. It's just a strange thing with the lighting. I feel as if the camera just isn't good without all of the light available going into the sensor. Give me some time to get these pictures in order. You will see what I mean

I noticed this. Here is a pic I snapped yesterday, definitely soft, https://photos.google.com/share/AF1...?key=c3QtZHpLdlNWRjVkNXNtUWpua2hGN240em82UElR I went into the settings and had to adjust the Skin tone, it was on 2. 0 seems clearer? I'll have to test. FFC is the Sony IMX320 (rear is Sony IMX333) on mine.

Agree. There has to be an update as this has a killer sensor.
Sounds like the issue that plagued some GS7 units as well. Sad to see

I thought it was just me or the lighting in my room here. Definitely seems like the focus is off and they all come out somewhat blurry. Big draw for me was getting this to get better group selfies (don't judge). I hope a firmware update fixes this.

After doing research, it seems to be the exact same issue. I read where someone had taken their S7 to best buy and compared it with other display units or something like that. Their results were that another device had an okay camera and then another was bad just like theirs... Or something like that lol. Can't remember currently. Either way, this camera is butt ???
Am I the only on who thinks, that the hunchback camera module is beyond ugly?
I wish we could get back the s8 design with the plain camera. Or maybe the centered design of the S10.
But I really cannot stand the new look.

+1 Feeling the same
Ever since they started showing screen shots of what the camera bump is going to look like on the S20/S11, I have read complaints about how ugly it is - I honestly don't feel that way -
I look at things a bit more pragmatically:
1) I rarely look at the back of the phone
2) I always put a case on the phone to add protection - typically I use a Clear Case, like RINGKE FUSION, and in my opinion, it tends to de-emphasize the "bump" somewhat - because of the way the case is usually built up around the bump to offer improved protection for when the phone is put flat on a table.
3) I spend 99% of my time looking at what's on the front of the phone - I look at the screen - so whatever the back of the phone looks like is inconsequential. The people who are most exposed to what the back of the phone looks like are those people I take pictures of and frankly, I care more about what the picture looks like than how ugly they might think the back of my phone is.
so is the camera big on the back ? YES - the better to see you with my dear! LOL
The payoff of having an incredible camera, phenomenal zoom capabilities and all of the other benefits offered by this camera more than outweigh any negatives there might be.
Finally - personally - I don't see the camera bump as ugly at all -from everything I have seen it is a great looking phone with a large camera element on the back - that's all.
I respect your right to have an opinion, and if you think it is ugly no problem - I hope you can get past that because from everything I have read, it is going to be one hell of a smartphone.

Larger camera bumps mean larger sensor and bigger lenses so better quality. So it's not a tumour ?
Is it only me or is there a general issue with the cameras of the OnePlus 8 Pro? I've seen articles about light reflections in the camera and the missing IR filter.
But is it only my device being unable to take a picture a lamp without huge clouding? Attached one picture with the normal camera, one with the wide angle (better but still not ideal) and a general scenery where the issue can clearly be seen.
Thank you for your hints if you're facing the same problem.
