Well this avaliable on Z2 after 4.4.4
I discovered that when I updated my phone to lollipop
If we could access to update center we could update our phones by putting our rom in folder "recovery" in the internal memory
Aslo fast boot could work with LB but I didn't try to flash using it.

Its nice, but whats with locking bootloader? Does we need that in future?

Hi all!
About 2 months ago I rooted my Arc S using Zergrush. Today I got a notification there's a new system update. I'm guessing I shouldn't update. Am I right?

You can do it via OTA if you have a locked bootloader and remain root.

I can confirm that... Did OTA for My Missus's Xperia Mini and My daughters Xperia pro.. both updated fine.. and both still rooted.
How do I know if I have a locked bootloader?
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
Yours is locked when you ask that question
Did you unlock it?

I think that if you had removed system files like removing bloatwares your phone will not be rooted after you update . However backup your stuff , update through you mobile update center (found in your mobile) , if not rooted downgrade again .
Here is a simple guide to root Xperia Z and install @[NUT]'s XZ dual recovery at the same time (BIG thanks to him:good
**NOTE: If you are on .569 or .101 firmware, you will need to downgrade to a previous version as no rooting exploit is currently available**
Before starting, as always, make sure you have a backup of your data
Download XZ dual recovery from Here, and unzip it.
Go to Settings/About Phone/Build number and tap it 7 times to enable Developer Options
Go back, open Developer Options, check USB debugging box, and Click OK to allow.
Plug the phone into the PC via USB cable.
Now go to XZDR folder, run the install file and choose [ 3. Installation on unrooted ROM ]
If a message about RSA key comes up, allow it.
After installation, the phone will boot into Philz Touch 6 recovery.
Go to /Philz settings and select Re-root System (SuperSU) /Yes - Apply SuperSU.
The log should say "done install SuperSU from market"
Select ***Go Back***/Reboot System Now.
You are now rooted with XZ Dual recovery
Dont forget to install Chainfire's SuperSU app from Playstore, and update su Binary when prompted:good:
To enter the recoveries during the boot process, press volume up to enter Philz CWM Advanced edition, or volume down to enter TWRP when green LED comes on.
Alternatively, use the newly installed NDR utils app to choose which recovery to boot into.
For more information on XZ Dual Recovery go Here
Have fun and enjoy
Edit: You can now update to. 569 by flashing a pre-rooted rom in recovery.
An alternative way of gaining root after installing the dual recovery would be to simply boot into one of the recoveries and flash a superuser zip. That would install the superuser control apk to /system/app and includes the latest su binaries.
Chainfire always has the latest version of SuperSu available in zip form on his website - http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu

If I'm on .569 already, unroot and unlocked bootloader, can I still use your method? Install the dual recovery and flash SuperSU?

If your bootloader is unlocked then simply flash DooMLoRD's advanced stock kernel , then flash the SuperSU zip that I linked to.

Is this procedure ok for stock 4.2.2 XZ 6603 with locked bootloader? Bootloader stays untouched after this?
Maybe my questions looks lame for You but I wanna ask before then be sorry after.
BTW: It seams to be too easy... I just can't believe! :good:

Yes, I tested it successfully on that configuration, and it doesn't interfere with bootloader. Once you achieve root, it might be.a good idea to backup your TA partition.

No. If you want to flash Cyanogenmod (or any other non stock based rom), you need to unlock your bootloader.

No. The 4.4 roms that are currently available are non stock based. Anything that needs a custom kernel needs an unlocked bootloader.

Xperia gb have confirmed today at 12pm the update is now rolling.

Connect up your phones to pcc and if your updated be kind enough to upload the ftf.

Its suppose to have started on Tuesday last week but seems Vodafone UK has it.
So will this be the generic UK version? Should be nice to see a hopefully smoother 4.3 than what I'm currently using.

Maybe its stuck in traffic on the M25.
I think what they have actually confirmed is they have no idea what's going on and they are quite happy to ignore one of their biggest markets.....
I hope we get this by the end of Feb, because after that, their website will be lying.
Cant be much different to the Generic Austrailia firmware. Why is it taking so long !
Does anyone have a link to the Vodafone UK 266 FTF?
Its in a thread soemone started specifically about the vodafone UK version a few pages back now. Id not bother though unless you're rooting straight off, its better than the CE in my opinion but has some voda specific bloat and is still sluggish at times.
Ive decided to just try the Existenz rom which sounds like a nice tweaked version and pre-rooted to boot.
maybe some progress:
Well my number is there as getting it so I will check when I get home but not holding my breath.
Sent from my C5303 using Tapatalk
Whilst it'd be nice to have a proper Generic UK one id still hold out for the next version in case it has some good fixes in.
Still nothing...

Anyone received yet?
I've given up waiting, but my cust number supposedly has the update, ive flashed eXistenZ Ultra and everything works great, even got 4G on Three, couldn't get that on stock 4.1. I'm still on a locked bootloader so no warranty loss.

If you check the eXistenZ thread, there are instructions to install on locked bootloaders. I think only stock based ROMs can flashed on locked bootloader.

Did you try a full factory reset and downgrading to the latest BTU 4.4? Including the modem and bootloader.

Just flash it in odin, but make sure the phone is off for 30 seconds or so before you do the button combo for download mode, as modems sometimes don't flash if you boot straight into download mode.
Tick bootloader update in odin, obviously a full data wipe from recovery as i doubt it would boot otherwise

So I just take any country's n9005 4.4.4 tar file and flash via odin? The only think new is to just tick on 'bootloader update' ? So basically downgrading to 4.4.4 only requires a tick on bootloader update?
