drain your battery completely, let your phone switch off on its own. Reboot into recovery (dont plug in your charger yet, and dont worry - it still has some juice left) and wipe battery stats. Now boot up again, still not plugging in, and as soon as it stabilizes it should power off on its own. This time you will not have enough juice to boot up again. NOW plug in your charger, and after a couple of minutes, unplug and boot by holding power button+trackball (CWM recovery bug) and plug it in again. Dont use it till its fully charged. See if this helps at all.
Yeah I found your post yesterday 8am it was unplluged (music for about a hour, internet all the time, sms) and now its 10:35pm and I have left 27%. Better than 0

I read a thread. It is about battery problem with adw. Adw claims that the launcher will dry your battery. But I think the problem is already fixed.

Boots Into Recovery After Battery Dies

So 4 times now i've let the battery fully discharge and charged the phone overnight, turned it on the next morning and its in recovery? First thought was it was because when I was having issues with the market but my market app has been working without any problems since removing updates.
Is there a setting I need to change or is there an underlying problem that is rearing its head.
Running GB rooted, never had any ROMS pretty much just rooted thats it.

I believe it's supposed to do that. I think it's a sort of fail safe system that comes from the hijack process used in the Droid 2/X Bootstrapper.

Interesting because it never did that before for the whole time i've been on GB.

huge mediaserver/audioout_2 wakelock hogging battery life

Today i want to work and put the device in a drawer. never touched it during the whole shift but one phone call. during a five hour period 30% of the battery was wasted. bbs showed audioout_2 wakelock took place for 5 hours. screen time was 30 minutes. I haven't kept any screen shots from bbs but i did capture on system battery usage.
what could have caused it?

op, perhaps a little enlightenment on your setup(rom/kernel) would yield helpful information from someone running similar setup
good luck

STOCK EVERYTHING .
not even rooted or bootloader unlocked. An out of the box Nexus 4 16GB (301k),.
Perhaps there's a corrupted media file somewhere in the storage system.

I have no media files on my storage, all my music is via GOOGLE PLAY.
(the wakelock is not caused by google play because since I booted the phone I have not listened to any music)
There seems to be a fix for the problem, haven`t used it myself though. Link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050252. Its a init.d script at boot and you need root.
I wish to avoid rooting my device. when I bought the nexus I wanted to have a vanilla Google experience.
Also I don't wanna void my warranty.

Not rooting a Nexus is like forbidding the Pope to pray But to each his own.
Yeah I know, I think I'll root if i hear reports that rooted devices can receive official google updates

I remember one time, I left a game without closing the game. 5 hours later my battery dipped and I tried to figure out why. I realized that the game was still running in the background and drained a good 30% of my battery because of the mediaserver. I know it was still actice cuz when I hit recent it picked up exactly where I left off with no lag jumping back into it.
I'm guessing the game isn't coded to freeze in the background when you leave it. I could be wrong, but this is one possibility I think.
I'm on PA, with the matrix kernel. The game is called PAD in case anyone wants more info. I say, just be sure to exit games or generally certain apps when you finish playing them.
This only happened once and since then never again since I started closing that particular app correctly. Also, I don't mess with any music volume booster mods. Just get some noise isolating earbuds/headphones. The volume booster mods definitely killed battery much quicker than it was worth with my first nexus 4
I close everything and still got 1.5h of AudioOut_2 and AudioOut_3 wakelock overnight . 20% battery drain overnight. normally my battery drains 5-6% overnight.
up
Maybe there is a corrupt file on your phone, it doesn't have to be music, could also be a ringtone or a video.
considering you don't want to root I would consider factory reset then reinstall 1 app at a time until you find the culprit. I know it's time consuming but it's either that or keep your charger handy

Is there a way to disable Carrier IQ? It's annihilating my idle battery.

I keep my GPS off to help my battery life, but every once in a while the GPS turns itself on randomly and tries to get a lock. It's an issue because while I'm inside it really struggles to get a lock and eats battery like a mofo. I got to work with 97% battery and an hour and a half later I now have 85%.
What can I do to stop this from happening short of waiting for cyanogenmod?

Install System Tuner, free from market (lots of annoying ads, no big deal).
Click the red System Android, click Android System, Details, then uncheck all 7 CarrierIQ related processes.
Worked OK for me and no FC issues with calls or anything.

Which ones are carrier IQ? I don't see ant that are explicitly named...

There's a list in the carrier IQ thread in general

[Q] Battery.

Just wondering if this seems right. I'm a pretty heavy user, and sometimes I have pretty good battery life, and then other times I'm charging twice a day. Running plain ole non rooted stock.

I have the same issue as you

Since you're rooted I would download Greenify from the play store if you haven't already and use that. It will help. Also GPS from Google Now gives a lot of wakelocks and drains the battery a decent amount. I would turn off your GPS whenever you're not using it.
I'm not rooted. And I do actually have GPS turned off. I also have a lot of things that I don't use disabled.
I want to root, but can't at the moment because of lack of computer..
My search for a computer less root option is a constant failure.
