Hi,
Just updated to Lollipop (UK unbranded) and after copying all of my pictures back onto the device, Instagram & Whatsapp etc, the stock gallery is sorting odd pictures out of order. If I look at the folders via a file explorer they're all in the correct order but for some reason they aren't in the gallery. I can't see any options any where to sort the gallery other than by time or album so what am I missing? I've been doing the same process of backing up pictures and copying them back on for years and never had this problem.
I've also downloaded QuickPic and if I sort via name they're all in the correct order, as they should be since the filename includes the date for everything, so why is the native Gallery doing this? I've tried recopying the folders that are doing it, clearing the gallery cache and data but it's still the same.
What is happening?!
Anyone?!
No ideas anyone?

Hey there!
I think your problem is the Gallery app sorts pictures by Album and by time and many other categories you should swipe the menu and set it to album like this picture.

That's normal because after installing a new ROM and factory reset your Note the Gallery app will set on stock settings.

It's already set to sort by album and it's mostly correct but in some albums, not all, a number of pictures aren't sorted where they should be but I can't see why. For instance the oldest picture in the Whatsapp images folder isn't the last image in the folder, it's like the 54th or something. If I look in file explorer it is the last picture.

I'm facing this issue too and its crazy they can't get gallery to sort properly.
Our plain old 'sort by date' withing gallery folders is missing

I'm glad it's not just me then. Hopefully they fix it in an update.
Sort albums
Press an album until check boxes appear, let go, check mark any other albums you want to move, press and hold one of the checked albums and drag to the desired spot, release

Never mind checking more than one at a time, it only allowed me to drag one, but maybe I b did it wrong, either way, u canI've at least one at a time

I've been trying to get album artwork to show up in the HTC music app but cannot figure it out. I've put a folder.jpg in the folder containing the music, even embedded the artwork into the mp3, but for whatever reason, some albums will not show any artwork.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? thanks in advance.
UPDATE:
Downloaded MP3Tagger Pro from the Market, and that let me add artwork to the ID3 tag on the phone.

I have tried mp3 tagger and album art finder - both add the album art but strangely enough when I reboot my phone the album covers are missing. Anyone else having this problem?

I'm using "3" (cubed) for a music player app. That actually downloads and lets you select album art. I was also frustrated getting ID3 tag images to show correctly, so I'm just using a different music app.
I like 3, but right now, it only sees the music you have on your SD card, and not in the phone memory.
I use the HTC music app, and it imported all my album art in just fine. I just include a .jpg in the folder with the music, and it auto sets it to the album art.

I'm experiencing the exact same problem with my phone. Any suggestions??
Hi,
I am the developer of mp3tagger pro. If you used the mp3tagger pro option "easy album art finder" (which is doing the same thing as album art grabber) the album art is not persisted to the files itself but only to the internal android media database. This would be erased eg. after a firmware reset (it is strange that you are experiencing this after a normal restart though).
And this is why you have the additional "load by album" / "load by directory" option in mp3tagger pro. This will save the results to the files itself (the same way pc based tagger software would do it) and they will survive all kinds of wiping / resetting of your phone.
Another issue with HTC Music app
I have not experienced the album art issue, but one issue I have noticed is with the "default playlist." I'm not sure if it is a bug or what, but I normally keep my music on "shuffle all." After a certain amount of time of not using the music app, then next time I open it, it reverts back to wanting to play the first 100 tracks in my library. I then have to click back on the library list and choose "shuffle all" again to get the rest of my music to load up.
My BT is fully integrated with my car stereo and this one little thing is the only thing causing me to have to pull my phone out of my pocket when I get in my car.
Has anyone else noticed this when using the HTC music app? On my Droid, using the standard 2.1 Music app It would always just pickup playback where I left off.
My bookmarks widget doesn't seem to want to grab screen caps from some of my websites. Anyone else with this issue or a trick to force it to update them?

None of my synced bookmarks have acquired an image yet. A couple of the new ones I've added on the N7 have got an image, but so far I've only added 5 new ones in total.

These are all new ones that were added directly to Chrome, none were synced. I've clicked on all of them numerous times in an attempt to get it to grab the images, but to no avail.
Anyone find a solution? I am also having this problem. The widget looks terrible without the thumbnails. Out of about 25 bookmarks, my widget only displays one thumbnail (Google News)
mine stopped grabbing screenshots also. anyone can help?
I am also experiencing this issue. Anyone find a solution yet?
I have tried all sorts of things to get the thumbnails working, such as clicking on them in the widget, browsing manually to the sites in chrome etc.
After much messing I finally had all my thumbnails on the widget.
When I turned my nexus on later, all but two of them had blanked again.
So... 4.1.2 is here and this still seems broken. Has ne1 discovered why some bookmarks create thumbnails and others don't?
Still broken in 4.2.1. I am relatively new to Android, do common things just stay broken forever?
Hi,
I am also having this problem...this has been happening since I got my first nexus 7...i am on my third one now. It also happens on my galaxy s2...it's so odd that there is no fix this...Is it just me, or do the generic thumbnail icons look like Mortal Kombat signs?
Clearing the browsing history has solved this problem for me.
1) Open a new tab in your Chrome app and press the menu button on your Android device to access History.
2) Select 'Clear Browsing Data' at the bottom of your screen.
3) Only select 'Clear browsing history' and press Clear. You do not need to clear your cache, cookies, saved passwords, or autofill data.
4) Exit out of Chrome and also kill Chrome's application process. On most Android devices, you can do this by long pressing the home button to bring up a list of active apps or task manager.
5) All bookmark thumbnails on your widget should now be clear. If not, then enter and exit a bookmark folder on your widget. If you do not have folders, then open and close Chrome. Basically you need to refresh the screen. If your old thumbnails have not cleared, repeat step 4.
6) Now rebuild your bookmark thumbnails by visting each bookmark from INSIDE Chrome. Visiting bookmarks directly from the widget will NOT work. Open a new tab and press the menu button on your Android device to access Bookmarks. Visit a bookmark and allow the page to load completely. Press the menu Button again to access Bookmarks and repeat as needed.
About 22 to 24 thumbnails will be created assuming after you cleared the History, you only visited your bookmarked pages. After a certain thumbnail cache limit is reached within Chrome, it will stop generating thumbnails for your widget.
Through many tests I've come to determine that Chrome is creating thumbnails of pages in your History regardless of the page being a bookmark. So if you visit 20 non-bookmarked websites, and then 10 bookmarks, only the first few bookmarks' thumbnails will be created on the widget. However if you revisit one of the non-bookmarked website and bookmark it, then you will see it on the widget with a thumbnail.
I hope this works for other people and that my explanation was helpful.
THANKS A LOT IT WORKS
You're a genius
I set my mother up with android by getting her a phone and two tablets. She only knows how to use the bookmark widget (full size of home screen, single page). Hopefully the chrome devs can fix their shiet within another year or two
I'm at a lose here... Typically you can go into your Google Accounts settings, disable Photo-Sync, clear your gallery app data and your picasa crap is gone from the gallery and syncing is over. (like it should be)
I just noticed though.. Even if you have photo sync disabled.. It's still 100% live and syncing..
This is a 100% fresh factory image flash.. So the device is clean except whatever Google wants on it.
Photo sync disabled right?

Go to app settings / force stop gallery / clear data gallery
Launch gallery
Cool right? Empty like it should be but... Refresh it.
And those folders are 100% live.. If I upload a photo via my PC. It will show on the handset..
Open your Galley app
Click your Menu Button
Go to Settings
Click on "Google photo sync is on" and disable it
*Next step requires root*
Open "Root Browser" or other file browser and find your way to:
data/data/com.google.android.gallery3d/
And delete the
/cache
and
/databases
Open your Settings app
go to "Apps"
Find "Gallery"
Force stop and Clear Data.
Re-open Gallery and it should be all sweet Worked for me
Cheers,
Luke

Been there done that Luke.. Do this.. Hit the 3 dots in the gallery, and then refresh.. Wait a few seconds and watch all your Picasa folders return and live again.. It will still say photo sync is off in the settings etc but the deleted folders will be rebuilt and it will be syncing again even though it's completely turned off off. It's one of the worst bugs ever..
Did you freeze Picasa Uploaded in Titanium? That's what worked for me.
lol I used titanium backup and remove Picasa Uploader.. I uninstalled a bunch of apps I dont even use.. mostly google apps, the live wallpapers and so on..
Did you try to clear gallery's data after unchecking photo-synchronisation?
Go to picasaweb.google.com and delete the folders there.. Done

Hiya XDA,
Only a small issue but it's annoying nonetheless so I was hoping one of you great folks might be able to help me out. Whilst snapping a couple of HDR pictures on holiday, my Nexus 4 (running stock 4.3) crashed and rebooted. Since the crash, the order of photos has been lost in the camera folder in the stock gallery. Rather than having the most recent photos at the front and moving back chronologically, photospheres have now been moved to the front in chronological order, and after that are all my standard, non-photosphere pictures.
The reason this is annoying is because whenever I take a new picture, I can no longer swipe to get to the picture I just took. Instead swiping on the camera brings up the first picture in the gallery, which is a photosphere I took a few days ago. To get to the picture I just took, I have to scroll way back through all the photospheres in my gallery before arriving at the most recent picture. Photospheres taken after the crash are also appearing way back along with all the ordinary photos.
I've checked the EXIF data for all my photos and the "date taken" information has not been lost or anything, so I cannot understand why the gallery is ordering my photos so randomly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot :victory:
EDIT: I forgot to mention, I've tried clearing the data and cache of the gallery application, but that didn't fix the issue
Firstly using HDR is a really bad idea since it will spam your data partition with useless temporary files which you can delete if you are rooted:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Secondly try deleting the thumbnails in that folder, and wipe the gallery data.

Thanks for the reply! I generally try not to use HDR too much, only in situations where there's a high contrast between the items I want in the photo. Otherwise I tend to stick with normal mode. I suspect the use of HDR may be what triggered the crash though...?
I tried deleting the thumbnails cache and wiping gallery data again, but sadly it didn't make any difference
hey there,
i was searching the web, but no success finding solution to my problem.
i am developing a simple home screen widget, and each time adding OR removing images from drawable folders, and relaunch the application onto emulator OR device, it messes up the images.
here is an example:
this is a screenshot of the widget before making changes at drawable folders:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and here is the screenshot of whats going on after changing drawable folders contents, and relaunching app from eclipse:
it takes random images that meant to appear at config activity, and i don't understand why.
i don't wanna post code, because there is a lot of it, and there are a bunch of classes, just wanted to ask if someone had similar problem, and if this is an eclipse bug, or it might be some problem with code.

Did you clean the project first (in one of the menus there is the option clean...). That helped me when I was not seeing my resources being updated. And it might also be that you have to readd the widget to the home screen if you haven't tried already.

Thanks for your reply.
Yea i did try cleaning project, but it didn't help.
I see all resources just fine, and there is no problem if i relaunch app with no changes at drawables.
The problem occurs only when i add, or delete images in the project.
And yes, if i re-add the widget to home screen the problem disappears,
but my big fear is that my users will have to re-add their widgets after i will publish an updated apk to google play.
I guess I'll have to publish a test apk, and see what happens on update.

OK that's what I guessed as well... strange
I haven't done much with Homescreen widgets so far, but my guess would be to manually update the widget when your app is updated (via AppWidgetManager.notifyAppWidgetDataChanged()??!). Maybe this question can help.
The other option would be to debug which calls you get in the widgetProvider on updating the app. And make sure you didn't change any resource or Reveiver names!

Well, I've uploaded the new version to google play, and after updating the app everything messed up.
I'll come back here after debugin.
Ok, i came to update this post, just in case someone will face this problem, maybe this will help ))
After duin some more projects, i have found that this images mess happened only when i saved id's in shared preferences ))
For example, R.drawable.myimage was saved in shared prefs in order to asign saved image to imageview. Editor.putInt(SELECTED_IMAGE, R.drawable.myimage).
But after making changes in drawable folder, i guess all drawables get new id's, that is why next time when the app is updated, it showed random images.
And ofcourse the same behaiviour was not only with widgets.
the images was messed up everywhere i used setBackgroung(sp.getInt(SELECTED_IMAGE, R.drawabe.myimage)
