Hi guys, my dad's G2 recently had a problem in which during a call, the opposite end cannot hear us at all, only garbled messages come out. The problem is fixed when restarted, and is not encountered using whatsapp or BBM calls. I know the general solution is to do a factory reset, but is there another way? It doesn't seem to be a hardware problem, but just for info the phone recently had to be sent to LG to fix a broken screen.
Didn't have that problem, but I read Google Now "voice activation anywhere" can cause it. When I had it turned on, video recording didn't work also.
@cile1977 Oh, that just hit me, I turned it on recently. Thanks man!

Hi,
I have problem with my Nexus 4 on stock soft, it was present on 4.3, now after update to 4.4 nothing changed. Issue remains.
When I put loudspeaker on during call, person I am talking to says that he barely or even doesn't hear me.
It's a bit ironic, because while googling for the solution I've found that people tend to have issue with normal mode and turning on speaker mode fixes the issue. Out of the 2 I prefer my problem, nevertheless I talk a lot while driving, so this is annoying. Any one encountered this issue? Is there simple fix or I have to service my brand new phone?
Did you ever find a fix, this happens with my nexus 4.

I still have that issue and still no solution for it. Anybody?
Any resolve this issue?
I've noticed this issue on my nexus 4 as well.
When I have the loudspeaker on, its as if the microphone is picking up noise or something constantly. So if I'm on an automated menu (lets say when calling a bank) and you're suppose to say say your account number, the system will immediately say "we did not get that...etc" as if my phone microphone is always picking something up. Also when I talk to people on it, they say they have troubles hearing me.
I have no issues when on regular (non loudspeaker) mode though.
Most of the times.. It is a software issue... Try flashing the stock firmware.. From Google developers website

Hi
I'm not sure why I'm experiencing this lately but I use my LG G2 phone normally (surfing and listening to music...etc) but whenever I get a call and I try to swipe to pick the call, I found no response at all. As if I'm NOT doing any swipe at all and I end up missing the call. This happened many times losing calls for just not having a non-working touch screen whenever I get a call. This is driving me mad and I feel like I went totally wrong getting an LG instead of any other famous brand name like Samsung or HTC.
Any ideas are very well appreciated as I'm not quite ready financially to dump this phone yet!

This might be a stupid question, but do you have this problem when you are already using the phone? When you are using the phone already you don't swipe the screen, but you just press the answer button.
Lately I have the same problem. The phone and the touch screen is working correctly in every other situation.
The problem is only when I try to pickup the phone after around the 2nd ringtone. At that point the screen freeze. The buttons are still working, I can turn the screen on / off with the power button and mute the ringtone with the volume.
Anyone had resolved this issue?
[Q] Viber speaker phone always on -[ROM]【5.0】Google Play Edition【LRX219】-12-24-2014
@Danvdh and team
Simply thank you for this gift. I have on issue with Viber app that I like to share:
I am using the ROM from this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557353
Clean installed with TWRP with phone setup as new.
1. When I call someone through viber app and or receive a call through viber, speaker phone is always on and I cannot turn it off. Has anyone else have this issue and resolved it or is it some settings that I may have mistakenly ticked off?
See the attached screen shot of the viber call and you will notice that the speaker icon it greyed out and it is always greyed out. I cannot turn it off as it is greyed out.
Please help????
Apologies to bump my post here.. this is an issue here and I am hoping some one can help me. Any viber call is always on the speaker phone. How can I make viber call normally please.
Mobile phone calls work perfectly,
quick workaround

Hello, hannah187. I had the same issue. Just reinstall Viber and the problem will be gone. I just don't know for how long.
I'm a bit worried because I've never had such problem with the stock ROM. It's important to keep this topic alive until we have a real fix.
Thanks.

First of all, my issue is fixed now but strange fact is I did not reinstall viber. It's just fixed now. I understand that code does not lie so perhaps I have changed some settings which may have fixed it but honestly I do not know.
I know that when I did a clean install of this ROM, viber was working correctly and I have checked it. After couple of days, I can no longer make viber call through ear piece. I only can use speaker phone.
I do not think I have changed any settings, but viber now seems to work as expected and I can make viber phone calls normally as well as through speaker phone. I do not know how this has happened.
Well it seems that I have spoken too soon. From last night, viber speaker phone icon is again greyed out, in other words, I can only make the Viber phone calls through the speaker phone and no ways to disable it. Back to square one.
Happy New Year, @Viber Team!
???????????????
funny that ...is that going to fix it
Hi.
I have similar issue with the latest version of viber at my samsung galaxy s4 i9505 android 5.0.1
When i receive or make a call with phone NOT viber the speaker turns on itself until i press the speaker two times so i hear the call not from the speaker.
I understand that it was viber fault because when i completely uninstall the viber never had this issue again.
So is there any solution so we can have viber installed without that kind of issues?
I had an issue with my LG G2 where people can't hear me when I call them. If I turn on speakerphone, they can usually hear me then. So I exchanged my G2 for a new one. Same problem now. About every 5th call or so, people can't hear me. It's driving me nuts. Could there be some software that's messing things up? I have google voice installed, and while most of the calls in question are GV calls, not all of them are. Just called someone now from my regular number and they couldn't hear me. Anyone have any tips or even advice on how I can tackle this?
Running latest Android updates and apps always, no root. Verizon. Calls placed from random locations (and even different states).
I am having the same issue. There are a couple of things I have tried. The most promising is to turn off Google hotword detection on every screen.
You can also try turning off the Privacy Keeper and Voice Enhancement in Call Settings. If any of this works for you, or you find and answer, let me know!

Having the same issue with 2 lines, same LG G2 phone. Called Verizon, was told it sounds like a hardware issue. I'm thinking it's something to do with their Android update personally.
Had exact same issue and took phone to repair center. They said it was mic issue. They ended up replacing the entire phone but guess what - issue is still there on new phone.

I've seen this issue on many forums and with the number of people that are having the problem, it has to be either LG flaw or a software issue. I'm trying turning off the ok google, noise cancellation, and privacy keeper. But I'm pretty sure I tried those on the last phone with the same results.
Just to make sure we're all having the same issue, you can be heard once you turn on speakerphone, correct?
Update on this: Still having the issue after disabling ok google hotword..

I read your reply some time ago but didn't answer because I had no answer.
Today the bug appeared again so I turned on speakerphone like you said. Guess what, they could then hear me!
Thanks for the tip @eepyikes, its a good workaround but lets hope for a proper solution.

Any of you with this issue also have a Pebble or other type of smart watch?
I've noticed the same problem but the issue goes away when my Pebble isn't actively paired.

-Correction- I hadn't had this issue since I disconnected my Pebble about 10 days back. It came back today when I made a call. What I noticed today is.......
When I switched to the speakerphone the person still couldn't hear me very well. Switching back to mic the problem is still there. But when I turned on my BT headset the audio was fine. Switching back to the phone mic from the BT the problem cleared up.
Did a test call initiating the call on the BT headset and had the same audio problem through BT. Switching back to the phone mic or speakerphone cleared it up.
Initiated another call on the speakerphone. Same audio problem. Switched to BT and it cleared up again. Switched back to the phone mic and it was still fine.
Seems the issue is there when initiating the call on BT, mic or speakerphone but switching from BT to the phone or phone to BT clears it up. I'm on a D801 (TMO) and first noticed this about three weeks back.
Rebooting the phone seemed to clear it up at least for the short term. I just noticed that the Google search app updated on the phone about two/three weeks back. Seems about the same time I started noticing the issue.
I had a backup of Google search 4.1.29 from back in January. Just restored that version and blocked it from updating to see if the issue comes back again.
Interesting to see this is also on the d802. Mine is the VS980.
The 13qcelp trick does not fix it. So tired of this!
Any other tricks out there??
Happened twice in one day. New record for me. Sick of people saying "hello?? Anyone there??? Hello??" until i turn speakers on. With speakers sound is horrible so really annoying! Wonder if issue will happen with AOSP/CM roms.....

Hello,
A2017G full stock (locked, no root) updated from B02 to B04.
When I'm making the call (calling to someone) they can not hear me that's smth like the microphone is not turning on.
There is a way to turn it on (but that's annoying). First when someone answer my call and keep he keep saying "hello, hello, what's up etc) I need to turn loud speaker on and immediately off - then microphone start to work.
Anyone have that issue or had that issue ? Any troubleshoots ?
Thx in advance.

I have same issue and same phone conditions locked no root on b04 Germany.
I also have the issue, also b04 full stock A2017G, and also have to activate then deactivate loud speaker to solve it during the call. I also find it very annoying since sometimes the other person has already hanged off, or begins the conversation a little bit pissed off.
I think it is a shame since axon 7 is... a phone, and the "calling option" should work 100%.

I had the same problem. There is a conflict with "all screen ok Google". When I turn it off the problem is gone.

Will try it now thanks mate.
Glad to know that I'm not alone with that issue. I tested workaround with turning off "any screen ok Google" but I think that our phone should also work with it turned on. ZTE need to try resolve this
yes, they should. Meanwhile we have to deal with this somehow.
Hey everyone, hope all is well.
I found a fix for my axon. If you don't want to read my trial and errors and just want the fix, scroll to the bottom. Sounds like you guys have an issue where turning speaker on and off fixes it, so this might not be the fix for your issue, but, I thought it was worth a try since it's basically free.
I bought an axon 7 off eBay. From day 1 people were saying they couldn't hear me very well. I thought it was cell service.
It seemed to slowly got worse.
It got to the point where people couldn't hear me at all.
I downloaded an app to locate cell towers and service range. Service didn't seem too bad...
Found forums like this one, tried talking on speakerphone. It worked, but people said it was still hard to hear me, cutting in and out, etc. Turned off mic access for ok Google and eventually EVERYTHING else.
Deleted apps even... No fix.
Eventually went to a place I knew had good cell service, called someone, and they couldn't hear me at all! Def not mic access, def not service...
Axons warranty doesn't work for resold phones... The speakers and Dolby..I didn't want to go back to a Samsung or whatever..
That's when I started looking for hardware fixes.
I decided to do a Google search one last time before starting down that road, but looked at videos this time.
And I found a fix!!!!!!
youtu.be/KNGMM-H0oxc
So simple. Take a needle to the tiny mic holes. Mine was so clogged, the junk in it actually looked like the hole until the needle disappeared into it like a toothpick into a brownie hah.
Crystal clear on calls now.
So going back to the forums I read before and posting my fix. Hopefully it helps others.
So happy!
