Carbon ROM official support, with your help.

Greetings.
Development for the Moto E has been progressing slowly. The few wonderful developers helping us have released builds with some issues that I'm sure with time will be resolved. They have lives and many other things to do, so I'm only grateful with them for taking the time to code for our "lower end" device.
That being said, and taking in consideration that our devices are low cost, could it be possible for us users to donate a few dollars each to send a device to a dedicated maintainer who is part of a development group?.
I personally love Carbon ROM. I have been using that ROM on different devices and always with the best of results. Simply put, I cannot use any other. It is as stable as CM, has all the right configuration options as AOKP, and coupled with Xposed, you can get your own perfect configuration.
I sent a private message to Carbon Dev, and they told me that as long as they have a physical device on hand, they can add it to the official list of supported devices.
I will donate $20. And I'm sure if every one of you can donate $1, we can easily get a Moto E to Carbon Dev in no time.
Is anyone else willing to help me to reach the proposed goal above detailed?.
Let me know, this could be a great alternative for our device.

I don't think there will be official support for dual Sim variant, as cm does not allow any device specific hacks in their builds. The single Sim variant got a chance.

If we atleast get a stable cm for single sim variant even then there are many who can add dual Sim support to it like there is for moto g...

the procedure for making CM support official :
1- All the hardware working on stock rom should work in CM build
2- no FC should be there
3- After making it stable we have to give Full source code ( github repo. ) to CM official devs.
4- they try it for atleast 3 weeks then if they found almost stable CM then they add it to their official support

I was asking that is there any way we can ask cm devs to help us in obtaining stable cm .. (Now I am finding this question as silly )

There is no term as a cm Dev. There are a lot of devs that post to cm builds.
If a new devices comes to the market, a new developer, who owns the device, can build cm for the device and fix issues, if any.
If cm makes it official, that particular Dev will be official maintainer for the device.

I think it would be the same procedure as Carbon Team. Give them a device.
I would not mind giving $20, but we all need to contribute. Giving thanks does not help in this very specific case.

Ya I know giving only thanks does not help in this very specific case but I should do that much what I can I do as I am still a 16 year old student who gets rs70 as pocket money per week. So I don't have that much amount of money to contribute but still I can contribute an amount less than or equal to Rs 200 if it helps. It was less amount so I didn't mentioned . I really want development for moto e.

But how come there are loads of Roms for moto g dual Sim variant ???????

Because it has official cm for single Sim and devs in large number

That is exactly why we need to give a device to one maintainer.

Till now we have 28$ but we need 105$ nearly (for me 1$=Rs.65 )

Anyone else willing to collaborate?. To this point, it does not matter if we give the device to CM or Carbon.

The devs (I can't name them, as they told me not to) are working on it, but they are stuck at the boot animation.
I'm also working at it, but will need a CM build, even if non-working, but the devs are refusing to provide me with it. So, I gotta wait.

i think devs for this device are very much secretive....why??? they should collabrate with the community should discuss the problems while building so that bugs can be fixed faster.....

They formed a closed community so that no one steals their work. Plagiarism is common.
I wanted to help, but they kicked me out.
They probably did that to balliboxer too, as he isn't on that committee.
That's just an analysis, not a fact.

[Q] Custom ROMs for A7(SM-A700FD)

Hey folks i recently bought A7 ,dying to find out Custom ROMs .
rooting n recovery yes i had seen the procedure, its promising n tempting :laugh:
But where can i find the custom roms? am i missing anything?
no one is interested to develop or port?
Earlier i had nexus 4, every ROM i found for it on XDA i flashed em all. thanks for dev's
but with A7 other than scrolling up n down m unable to play wit it :crying:
let me know , if m using the right device for atleast one year else i will sell it off :laugh:as without custom ROMs on a phone i really feel like m using an iPhone:laugh:

Na dont sell such good device you have to just wait since its new platform for Samsung devices hence may take sometime i will make a thread soon keeping things upto date on what is going on and progress of development

This is a great news....my son's bought this device today. I just said to him what the ***l you buying this blah!!!....LoL
On the other note....i also seen @RVR releasing custom recovery (TWRP) for this device....both news make me smile a bit....at least we will see more good news to A7 owner....:good:
P.s-hmmmm....once get chance i will flashing the recovery and try playing with my TWRP theme on it....

i installed lollipop on my A7 and its just AWESOME!!! you can do it too. its very easy. just google it. if you have any questions, mail me at [email protected]

Ya sure its still work in progress the major issue is
1) Kernel Sources are KK based ( So we have to make it compatible with Lollipop , just takes sometime )
2) Adapting Sources to Snap 615 SOC (new to samsung)
Once CM boots i will make a thread here with all and latest updates

However if there is no port yet is because the source code hasn't been released yet. That's pretty hard for a dev to port a rom from a flashable zip made for another device whereas building from sources is much easier.
So be patient and wait. It will not come before weeks, maybe months !
You know, Xiaomi hasn't released Miui7 Lollipop's source code neither, only kit kat, that's why there is not LP miui yet.

I'd also argue that MIUI is nothing special, and Cyanogenmod provides a cleaner, faster and more enjoyable experience, so there isn't much incentive for developers to work with it, especially since much of the source code isn't available for Lollipop. If you REALLY want a decent MIUI experience, get a Xiaomi, they're pretty cheap - you could sell your used Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for about the same price as a new Redmi Note 3.

The Nexus 5 is THE dev's device. Xiaomi ported the rom for the Nexus 5 themselves.
And galaxy j5 has the same specs than the xiaomi redmi 2 so the port was easier. However if you check the thread many things are not working (like cellular data)... That's a lot of work for the dev.

Actually, even if developers had the source code for Nougat, it would be quite hard. As mentioned by one of the developers,
"Actually it's not easy (maybe impossible) to be ported to our device without Samsung official Nougat update on other devices which are using snap80x."
But let's all hope for the best yeah
