Pipo W4S: 8 " Dual Boot 64 GB - Windows 8 General

Has anyone tried the Pipo W4S? I've been wanting to try one of these dual boot tablets, but I personally wouldn't want to touch one unless it's got at least 64GB of storage otherwise the two OS's will just take up too much of the 32GB space. I suppose I could get the Teclast x98 Air 3G, but for 64GB it's pretty expensive compared with this.
It looks like it may be a spiritual successor to the Pipo W3, just updated with more storage and dual boot.

Yes i got one, nice tablet over all. But space distribution is not ok. For android 4.4.4 - 8gb, ~4.7gb free. Rest is for windows ~46gb free.
I have managed to resize android and windows partitions. Android now have 37gb, rest is for windows. Also android on this tablet comes without google services, so you wont have play store and all google apps. In the end managet to install them by hands to system partition only after i got root on it.

Hi, I’ve just bought this tablet. Could you coach me how I can root it and install Google Play? Thanks.

Hi,
How to install apk when:
- data connexion doesn't work
- there is no file browser installed by default by the build
- adding apk into Android/SystemApps or into Android/AndroidApps doesn't work befroe installing the build
I tried to use also I2APK but my HD2 is not recognized in windows XP: on the HD2 which usb mode i have to use in this case: charge only? Disk drive? ...
I havae already check the USB debugging mode.
Please help me
Regards
Two options you got:
1. Wi-Fi which I assume u dont have ;-);
2. Download Droid Explorer on your computer (http://de.codeplex.com/) and install it. It detects your Android phone. You can install applications to your phone from there.
Hope it helps.
Thanks
This is assuming you're running with the folder name Android:
If it doesn't exist already, create a folder called AndroidApps under your Android folder. Copy the apk that you want to install into that folder. Reboot. (I'd suggest putting a file browser in there like astro or es file explorer). Most builds I've used will install whatever is in that folder on bootup. (When I do a new build, I usually put mybackuppro apk in there, so I can boot up and restore all my data and apps.)

Already done (see my post1) but with this ROM MCCM_HD_V1.2_Beta_3 it has no effect....
I used to do the same as you: all my favorite apk inside this rep.
Regards
- all builds will have android market in it, so download "Linda file manager"
- boot back to winmo
- connect device to pc (usb)
- transfer all your .apk files (assuming you got it in your pc) to a folder (its up to you to name this) in the sd card.
- boot back to android, open up Linda file manager and search for that folder
- there you can install the .apk files you got
Or use adb. Just get your right drivers installed

You just have to make sure the HD2 is booted into Android. Second thing is to make sure you exit out of HTC Sync program. Check in your system tray and right click and exit from it before launching Droid Explorer.
It works for me always.
Edit: n I dont have to choose any option on the HD2 screen, or you can choose 'Charge Only'. That works fine.

After a few hours on the net and with your advises i succeeded in installing ES File browser and every thing is OK now.
Just for my own information i tried to find a clear tuto of how to use adb and i couldn't find one: have you got one?
I need absolutly to install Android SDK?
What is the Good driver?
If i install this new driver it is not a risk of bad recognition if i connect my HD2 in WinMo mode?
For Droid explorer and I2apk it is this driver which is missign too?
Which USB mode on my HD2 device i have to choose to connect to adb? to droid or I2apk soft?
Regards and thanks again to everybody.
PS: @jigners: As i said i my first post Market Place didn't work because of non data connexion.

But it didnt help, still have the same information.
Anyone know what to do? How to install them? Or how to flash my tablet...
Thanks for any help
And sorry for my english Hope u understood me
As I have noticed there are two kinds of USB drivers for this tablet.
Strange enough I need one kind for installation under WinXP and other kind for installation under 64bit Win7 (they were not interchangable!).
In driver's folders "amd64" and "i386" they both have the same content, but they totally differ in driver's root folder.
One has only "NvidiaUsb.inf" and the other has: androidwinusb86.cat, androidwinusba64.cat, android_winusb.inf and source.properties.
I know I got one from MoDaCo: http://www.modaco.com/topic/331467-...-rom-for-the-advent-vega-with-online-kitchen/
Or if you don't want to download that 97MB file you have here only the needed zip file: http://www.wuala.com/Cosmichyrax/Programas/ANDROID/r1-tegrausbdrivers-modaco.zip/
And the other from this site (it's the site for my POV tablet):
http://downloads.pointofview-online.com/Drivers/10 inch Tablet PC Firmware TAB-TEGRA-10-1 upgrade/
And the needed file is called "Tegra Tab 10 USB Driver.zip".
Both links found thru Google!

[XAP's] copy/backup your favorite app

Hi there
here is an example how you can easy backup your favorite apps to your pc
Be sure your Samsung ativ S is fully unlocked and full filesystem access.
1: install your favorite app from the store
for this example we use the trail version of AppoinTile ( so i do NOTHING illegal !!! )
2: connect your fuly unlocked samsung ativ s to your pc
3: then goto your favorite app directory (in this test the trail version of AppoinTile)
This PC\Samsung ATIV S\Phone\Data\programs\{DDE4E2AC-9EA5-4B05-8BBD-CB7867B01D9C}\Install
3: copy all the content to a map on your pc (in this test case 25 files)
4: go on your pc to that new created directory and REMOVE the file WMAppPRHeader.xml
5: now select all files and ZIP the files with winrar of 7zip
6: now rename the file .zip to .xap and you have now backupped your favorite app.
i hope you can use it to backup your favorite apps.
good luck with it

I wouldn't count on that . Most apps do have code to check whether the production version of their app has a valid PlayReady header file and will cease to function otherwise.
Personally I succeed to backup/restore the trail version of Appointile by removing the WMAppPRHeader.xml AND MDILFileList.xml if not I've got an “Error-deployment optimization failed with error “unable to read input file”...”
But I don't succeed with others apps (like oneshot) I've always “Error optimization failed due to an invalid assambly. Rebuild your source projects and try again”.
Indeed apps must have a code to check.
Did the path changed after GDR3 update???
this will also make it "not-a-trial" anymore, since you de-associated the xap with the license
How do you get the data folder to show up on PC please?
First your Ativ S needs to be unlocked. Then you need to activate Full USB file system access.
You can do this easily with WPH Tweaks or SamWP8 Tools.
Then just connect it via USB to your PC.
Is possible install your files .xap in my phone or your files .xap is only for your phone?
Thanks.

Try with SamWP8 Tools by -W_O_L_F-
In "TWEAKS", check 'Full FS Access', reset your device and plug it via USB to PC (still does not work); reset again. unplug it from PC and plug it, again. Wait a minute. Now it should work well
@lomax50: Have you managed to get that working on GDR3? If so. please give *exact* steps to reproduce. Start from as "normal" a state as you reasonably can (full access turned off, limited MTP access working over USB), and go through the full steps. If you disconnect the phone, note it. If you reboot without logging in, note it. If you bring the phone out of sleep before plugging it in, note it. If you turn the phone on before plugging it in, note it. If you log in (unlock phone), note it. I've tried many times and cannot get this working on GDR3. There is no *clear* reason why it shouldn't work, either, although the whole thing was pretty rickety before too.
It's working for me now on GDR3....
I don't have to restart to get it working, the only thing i have to do is to
uninstall the Ativ S from the Windows Device Manager and it will show up as "MTP-USB-Device"
I don't restart my PC it's working anyway
then just unplug the phone and replug it... wait a little bit and it should show up in the Windows Explorer.
Hope this also fixes it for you.

How do I format storage e.g. HDD and/or SSD using Android 6.0.1?

Greetings,
I have:
1. 'Nexus 6P' build 'MHC19Q' 'Android O.S. 6.0.1' with/ April 16' security patch.
2. Storage media = '500G Seagate Momentus XT. The small 2.5" hybrid drive runs i.e. powers on and is accessible using the various file browsers e.g. ES File Browser & True Commander as opposed to the (4) 3.5" HDD (2) w/ Sata and (2) IDE that all appear to need more power.
3. USB-C <-> Serial ATA..., connects the mobile smartphone media; 'Nexus 6P' to my hybrid / hard disk drive [HDD] w/ SSD.
USB Type C "cable to connect them all" right? Well Google, what next? I bought the adapters which I could have done before and as a developer what are we developing? Can this Huawei / Google device / smartphone compete with the well known competition e.g. Apple, and Samsung? I'm rooting for you! I really am and willing to join the team too. What I want to see as a consumer is to easily be able to UNLOCK my phone from big brothers network a.k.a. AT&T and the other yahoos ROOT my device. This is what I expected and anticipated leading up to this launch. Is this excitement meant to happen or was I just having sweet nothings proverbially whispered into my ear by the Oogie man?
My challenge or question (however you want to take it, is how does one go about formatting a drive; specifically NTSF or the older FAT 32 to suitablely prepare a copy of Windows to complete a ROOT process? Mind-you, the latest Android version I'm running is 6.0.1. with the April 2, 2016 security patch. Any help would be much appreciated.
In closing, I have searched for a method to ROOT this Huawei Google Nexus 6P using another Android to connect to this one but didn't find a way yet. Please let's find one if there isn't one ready in place. Thanks!
Do no harm and Fulfill thine oaths.
Yours truly,
Daniel A. Palmquist
You can't, the commands can't be done from within Android. You will need a PC or Laptop running some Operating System:
Linux
MAC
Windows.
Then you will need to install the Android SDK so you can execute the commands necessary to root your device.
It's fully explained in this guide.

Root a Nexus 6P MHC19Q, yes. I had a PC HD hybrid with Solid State (Seagate Momentus XT) and 4 other hard drives that I've had over the past 10 years. Well they have all eventually gone to Sh*# with bootloader failures etc. I was able to plug into the Seagate using my SATA to USB-C adapter to get the files off of it. Since I had no other working HD nor another copy of Windows I was wondering if there was a way to format the drive directly from my Android in order to load up an OS to it. Since that was explained to be impossible in the first response to me I just went to the Comp store bought another Windows disk to do everything from that. It's ok I got it all working now it just cost me over hundred dollars to do it.
Now I have all my files backed up on the Seagate Hard-Drive running Windows with the Factory Image for Nexus 6P MHC19Q Adb fastboot etc. I've never done this before and am pretty excited. I used to jailbreak iPhones before but left Apple long ago for Android whom I feel will soon take the lead. GO ANDROID! I also have the TWRP custom recovery and SuperSU 2.66 ROOT PKG from chainfire.
Am I ready to do this?
You probably want the latest version of SuperSU found here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133
If you want Systemless Root, which allows Android Pay to work with root, do the following before flashing the SU.zip file
Open Terminal in TWRP
echo "SYSTEMLESS=true" >> /data/.supersu
When you flash the latest SU zip, it will read that file and then perform a systemless root, ie; root without modifying the system partition.

Why not Work ?
If I install it on my PC, do I access google play store like normal?
successfully installed on Z3735F Bay Trail-T windows 10 tablet. I don't need windows 10 OS anymore, so made one partition and install Android 7. It books OK, WIFI works fine. BUT!!!!! All the physical buttons don't work. Power button doesn't work, so there is no way to turn off the system. Volume Up and Down button also doesn''t work. But touch screen works fine. How to solve this problem? any idea? My tablet is Unbranded Tablet 10.1 from Best Buy
hey,
i got it up & running on my uefi windows 10 lenovo yoga (after some struggle i also have dual-boot). my question - how do i get gapps and supersu? it's not like you could simply flash some zips, as there is no recovery
No Playstore!! Browser does not download files!!!
So after wasting 400mb of data and roughly 30 minutes of my time, I discover that there is no preinstalled PlayStore, the preinstalled browser will not download APKs and trying to install apps from the online MarketPlace only discovers devises that the email used to Sign In with is associated to, not the device this is installed on.
These things SHOULD by all ethical means be stated in the description to prevent others from wasting both their time as well as their data.
I want to see a solution to these problems Shanmukarajan. Should you decide to neglect this issue, I won't hesitate to have this post reported to the moderators.
Thank you in advance for your prompt support on the matter.

there is just one issue.
you can not create a data.img file that is larger than 4GB on a fat32 partition...
how do we fix that?
It’s installs fine but when restarts windows is just starting every time and it’s not coming up with step 12 asking me about windows partition and creating boot item
I performed the installation process about 10 times with different settings but none of them seem to install Android on my HDD. The live version works and there are no errors whatsoever, but even after installation there is never an option to boot the installed Android. Only live, debug or again option to install the OS. Does anyone know the solution?

Have you tried selecting yes to GRUB 2 during installation? It's been a little while since I went through the process, but I believe that was what I had to do to get it up and running.

Yeah I have the same issue with my Sony VAIO Duo 11. To start from power off I have to hit the special Duo Assist button, then F11 to boot from usb, then go thru the (re) install every time, so boot takes a couple of minutes, but it always bring me back to the same great working Android with all apps and setting unchanged. I don't understand, but I just happened onto it. Be sure to not format or install any grub (not really sure about grub or grub2), but yes to make it writeable. Then you get an awesomely fast Android.
I don't even want Windows on that machine, but I'm afraid to kill all the partitions and start from scratch as the Duo has some weird builtin Windows boot stuff hard wired. I'm not sure if Android could boot without the Windows partitions.
When I am creating a new partition with 16 GB of space does it mean that Android is going to use just this partition and 16 GB or is it just for the installation files and Android will see my whole HDD as the internal storage?
Could you please let me know how you got it up and running? I am on a UEFI yoga as well, but after the installation,
grub doesn't show up and my computer boots automatically into Windows
Thanks in advance

Did you change the boot sequence in bios? Select android to boot 1st, then Grub should ask you which os you want to launch. I installed grub 2. I also went with the triple boot. My laptop is an Asus x401a with windows 7. Along with ubuntu and android. x86 Nougat.
A little help here mates,
I installed it alongside a windows 7 ultimate.
Gave it an 80gb Partition (fat32)
So I'm planning a dual boot here.
Here's my Steps:
used rufus to create bootable from android-x86-8.1-r1.iso
booted to Flash drive
installed android to 80gb partition (with grub/windows boot entry/ and data image of 2048MB)
after installation, Reboot to test boot options
grub didn't show up, booted directly to win7
Did some researches, and from those researches I should disable SECURE BOOT, but bios don't have that option.
Also tried EasyUEFI Tool which didn't even work in windows 7
Also, no settings for UEFI or Legacy.
Boot Order doesn't show Windows bootmanager or grub too, only HDD....
I installed android in ASUS Eee Notebook Laptop 1201b
I think the only problem here is grub cant load, but I run out of solutions, so here I am asking for help.
every android on work fine in my tablet(z3735f) but there is a bug in every os no sound in headphone any one tell me how to fix it
