[Q] Changing Boot Animation on Nexus 4 Stock 5.1 - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi There,
I am trying to change the boot animation on my Nexus 4 running Android 5.1 Stock. The device is rooted. I have tried with various apps to change the boot animation on my device (Boot Animator, Boot Box).
None of my efforts have worked. The only thing that has happened is that the coloured balls on start up no longer show. My boot Animation at the moment consist only of the Android logo. If I try to copy a bootanimation.zip file to System/Media, I always get the error message "Operation failed".
Has anybody any ideas?

Check out this bootanimation - https://www.dropbox.com/s/k63gn2cvyif47a7/BootAnimation_Marvel_Flashable.zip?dl=0
Its a flashable zip. It works. Open it up and see what you are doing wrong.

Make sure you have full root , make sure you're root file manager is mounted to write files in system.
Check bootanimation zips permissions are set correctly rw-r-r.

Easy, download a flashable bootanimation (.zip), open recovery and flash it.

[Q] Can't boot after changing boot animation

I have an unlocked/rooted WIFI only 16GB. I changed the boot animation and restarted my device. I get the Google startup screen then nothing but black screen afterwards. I can reboot into recovery, but if I have my computer connected I can not change the options (reboot, recovery, power off, ect...) without the computer connected it seems that nothing in recovery mode seems to work.
I know that the new boot animation is my issue. My original boot animation was just renamed, but is in the same file.
How can i delete my new boot animation file and rename the original one?
Fastboot mode details...
HW Version - ER3
bootloader version - 3.34
Lock state - Unlocked
Have you tried using sdk tools to push a stock boot animation?.if you cant select any options from the bootloader screen, you can use cmd from sdk and try your luck.

[Q] Stuck on "Google" screen during 4.4 OTA -Tmobile/NoRoot/TotallyStock

I selected to install 4.4 from my OTA notification and after it restarted my phone and then had the animation of an Android working it then went to the black screen with the white "Google" and it has been stuck there ever since. I held down the power key for ten seconds and it restarted and seems to be stuck in a bootloop. I tried entering recovery but i get a broken android animation saying i believe "no command"
So what can I do?
My phone was stock, so this should have been a simple update right?
I am pretty much a noobie.
I followed a step by step set of instructions for sideloading the update via a zip file, but when I get to the point I need to enter recovery mode nothing happens, i cant get to where i need to be. And my computer doesnt see my phone anymore when I plug it in via USB
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
thanks
Sideload the flashable zip of stock rom or any rom with the same android version in recovery ( guide )
Then flash back stock factory images (optional) ( guide ).

Good luck.

ZTe Axon 7 (ailsa_ii) soft-brick

So today i tried to install a new boot animation. Using TWRP I flashed the zip, but when I rebooted, the default animation was still there. So i decided to use adb and push the boot animation to /system/media. Now, all of a sudden, the phone will not boot. I even tried restoring the backup i made and push the original bootanimation.zip. Still, it didn't boot.

Custom boot animation being overwrittten by stock animation

When I try to install a custom boot animation to my phone the original stock animation overwrites it each time. I rename the stock animation zip file so it deactivates and then insert the custom animation file into the root/system/media folder however every time I reboot the phone it boots up using the stock animation and then the custom file is no longer present in the root folder.
Any help would be appreciated
