[q&a] poor wifi reception - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, my problem is my note 3 LTE recently got super poor reception of WiFi signal and LTE.
Now, I am only able to pick up 2 bars of signal even my phone is 1 meter away from the router. For the LTE I am only able to reach a peak DL speed of 5 mbps instead of > 30mbps as I normally had.
I tried various fixing method, like leveling up the pins connecting the antenna and the mainboard, wipe the metal plate connecting the pins, flash ROMS,*#0011# tweak,...
What else could I do to fix the issue? Or my connectivity chip just dead ? @[email protected]
Any helps and responses are very much appreciated

[Q] Sporadic Signal Loss

Okay so i've got an aria rooted and flashed with the Liberated 2.2 rom. I've been using it for the past 3 months and I've noticed that I will go from full service while a phone call is comming in and complete signal loss when I answer it. I have set the phone on a table and watched the network signal strength go from -113 dBm and 0asu to -81 dBm and 16asu and vise versa. I have also noticed that when I lose signal my "H" for the data goes with it and service comes back a few seconds later very strong but showing "G". From there it will go to "E" then back to "H".
Could anyone explain this or have a better reason as to why this is happening? Maybe its just based on the connection where I live but I've used the app Antennas and the tower is about 1/3 mile away.
Any info or help would be awesome
Thanks
i'm not sure why this would happen outside of a poor bit of service where you're living.
i used the various roms for the aria and never had any sort of service loss issue.
as far as the icons switching around, e = edge network (2g), h = hspa (3g). when your phone drops its connection, it tries to reconnect as fast as possible, usually with edge, then after its strong it looks for the 3g connection.

[Q] How can I fix my note 3's signal reception?

So... my Note 3 is like new, no exterior damage at all, I've taken well care of it, but I'm having some problems with signal reception.
Using LTE/GSM/WCDMA mode (or LTE preff with CM based roms) where the phone prefers 4G signal, I have 1 or 0 bars of signal, I miss calls and texts and web browsing using data is really slow!
Using GSM/WCDMA (3G mode in CM based roms) I have like full bars but slow internet using data, I don't miss any calls or texts (at least I didn't notice it) but when I am in the train and I pass through a tunnel, the signal is lost and it never recovers, I have to remove my battery and reboot the phone to regain signal (my other phone, a Galaxy Nexus, loses signal only inside the tunnel, then in seconds it reconnects again like it should, I also have full bars everywhere and no problems with the same SIM card, I also have an LG G2 at home and LTE works very well with the same SIM on that phone, it's just Note 3 that has really poor or no reception at all).
I don't think this is normal and I don't renember having problems like this in the past, how can I fix it? Please help me since I can't find any info by browsing and everyone knows Samsung isn't cheap when it comes to fixing things with knox 0x1, and I am fine fixing it myself if I know what to do.
Do phones use different antennas for LTE and 3G/2G? Is it an antenna problem? How can I pinpoint the problem? How can I repair it?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: forgot to mention, I've tested this on many custom roms (CM13, CM12.1, RR, N5 ports, S6 ports, Aryamod, Stock Samsung Lollipop, Stock Kitkat) the problem is the same everywhere so I think it is hardware problem.

Reception issues between towers.

Hi
I am having a problem when my phone is between 2 towers.
The download/upload speed slows to a crawl on both 4g and lte.
This happens even if the signal strength from each towers is high (around -80dbm).
I use network cell info to confirm this. My Wife's V20 has the same issue.
As soon as I can achieve around a 10 or better dbm difference between the towers everything speeds up again.
There are 2 locations near me where this happens (with different towers).
My other phone (a note 3) does not have this problem.
I'm on T-Mobile.
EDIT. I have also discovered this only happens on band 12.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

SM-N910G WiFi & Cell Signal Issue

Hey guys,
I've been using my Note 4 for a couple years and it was running smoothly before but now it started showing issue, I hope y'all can help me with these problems..
Problem 1: Dual-Band WiFi Connectivity Issue
My N910G could not connect or even find any 5GHz frequency WiFi connection(neither my home WiFi nor the others),
but it shows no issue connecting the 2.5GHz frequency. My home router is working perfectly fine and my other devices which supports 5Ghz band have no issues connecting to my home router so I don't think this is the router at fault. I've tried reset my N910G to factory setting, at the setup it miraculously connect to the 5GHz band without a problem but as soon as I turn the WiFi off or leave it after a while, it disconnected and it does not show any 5GHz after that.
Problem 2: N910G Poor Cell Signal Strength
Okay, now this is a bit tricky. Recently, I changed to a new cell company and sign up for a postpaid package with LTE data only, the sim card is new but as soon as I insert it into my N910G and reboot it. The signal strength of my phone only range from 0 to 2(which is from -80dBm and above) and rarely reaches 4 or 5(highest) but I still can connect to the 4G network, it's just the signal is very poor. At first, I thought it was the sim card at fault but I tried trying it out on another phone and it works just fine.
Can someone help me out with these two problems? Is it because of faulty hardware or software? Does flashing a new custom rom helps to solve these problems?
i have same proplem with 910f is reading sim card and ther'es no signal :'(

I know right. It's very frustrating.. :crying: My one can't even use 5GHz WiFi..

Problem with internet connection a7 2016 710fd

I have been using jio 4g for past 2yrs. The internet connection was good. But for the past 6 months I am facing frequent disconnection of the internet. So I go into flight mode activate and deactivate it again the net connection will be good for a minute and then it drops again to b/S. Frustrated I changed the SIM. But same problem. The bio customer care says it to update firmware! Which was not available and at last they told me to get the mobile serviced. So I swapped the SIM to another mobile and checked. There was no problem in that mobile. Please help me. Whether it is due to SIM or the band problem with mobile. I am using a stock firmware
Ps. Even I resetted, rooted
Set the network type or RAT or network mode to LTE (4G) only, then the phone should stay on the signal even when the signal is low for a second, around -120 rsrp (signal), specifically it should normally follow the parameters sent by the network: qRxLevMin (it is half the rsrp), qQualMin (sometimes, it is the signal quality), sNonIntraSearch, ThreshServingLow (both are ranges around qrxlevmin, one for entry threshservinghigh, one for exit). These parameters should nornally not be followed with LTE (4G) only. But only if the signal drops below the limit for a second. Else, it is a waste of resources, both for you (battery, etc), and the network, though the network can deprioritize cell edge (low signal) users.
To do so, there are extended network modes (for sim 1) in a menu that comes with Android, it is called 4636, Testing, Phone info, Device info, etc. There are apps that open 4636 without root, that offer: mode selections, lte only, anything cellular related that opens 4636.
Hold the phone on its top, not its bottom, for testing, the primary reception antenna should be at the bottom for A 2016, you can check this in *#0011#, it is "ant rsrp diff", it is positive when the primary reception antenna is better, negative when the diversity reception antenna is better, the diversity antenna should in most cases power on when the cellular is in use and start measurement, in contrast to the primary that's just switched on.
The signal can be measured in *#0011#, rssi is the signal strength of the frequency, the signal strength of intra freq (same frequency) neighbors (other cell towers etc) may differ slightly anyway because it's missing a decimal point; rsrp (good maybe at least -120, get it closer to -1) is approximately the signal strength of the cell, it is a few antennas in the long rectangular boxes on a cell tower, note that it is the measurement of the reference signal not the data that is being sent to your phone; rsrq(good maybe at least -15, best -1), sinr (good maybe at least 0, best 40), are signal quality. The "registered plmn" is the currently connected operator (mobile country code and mobile network code), if it changes (different compared to the sim), the signal is low! The "PCI" is the currently connected cell, note that there are only ~500 of these, so to identify the cell you can use both PCI and TAC (region), if the pci changes and the signal strength drops, well, the signal dropped and a reselection is made to an inferior cell, which can then drop data... in this case contact your mobile network operator but they might not make changes if it only affects a few users. You may try to lock band/etc to the good cell that sometimes drops in quality for a second but overall better than the neighbour cells.
Here's a short list of scenarios that can cause problems in connectivity, not all.
1: Low signal, plain old low signal. If the phone can't register VoLTE the bands that can be connected to may be restricted on some MNOs.
2. The antenna is closed and this causes low signal.
3. Low signal of the serving cell, the signal of an inferior neighbour cell matches (above parameters!), the phone changes to another antenna on a cell tower, quality drops and so does the connection. On another cell tower or there are 2 antennas on 1 cell tower, for example 1 facing the azimuth 180 degrees, another 270, the phone being in 215 degrees is unfortunate!
4. The antenna is open and receives interference (and reselections, sometimes good) from neighbour cells.
5. Good signal but it has been echoed a bit too much.
6. Reject causes and others, where the connection has been disconnected for some reason. Probably not in this case! It is viewable in *#9900# > Take cp log > copy to internal sdcard. It is in the /internal storage/log/LitmusLog. Scroll down to the reject cause section, those are error codes.
None of these codes/volte are working: The CSC is not applied correctly! Flash stock rom and open the stock recovery or copy /system/csc/...csc.../system/ to /system/etc/.
I do not recommend anything EFS/PIT, making a backup of efs is OK!
Hi,
I am facing the same problem with a7 2016 with JIO sim.
The mobile is purchased in dubai and when insert jio sim in india, was not able to use volte service.
So I flashed official indian rom. Everything is fine except net speed. Net speed between 1-5am is very fine but in day time speed reduces.
Everytime i have to restart data to use net but after a while same problem occurs.
Tried in both sim trays. I am using single sim in mobile.
Pls provide a solution.
Regards
