[GUIDE] How to get max smoothness from g3 - G3 General

Hello i sperimented everything on my g3 to get max performance and battery life, these are the guide to get max smoothness for g3.
First i use an aosp rom 5.1, then flash 777 kernel and download kernel adiutor and open it, and go to cpu settings and set cpu governor smartmax, then these parameters, then go gpu settings and set others parameters, if you got green screen dont edit cpu boost interval sync threshold.Enjoy best performance and battery life for g3.
update.tdt removed because caused bootloop for some, just tweak the smartmax governor and gpu gov

Could you experiment how to get smoothness and better battery on cloudy rom? [emoji4]

What sort of battery life are you getting? And could you please provide a bit more information on how this improves performance over standard CM/AOSP and stock ROMs? Thanks for your effort!

just flash a custom kernel like chupa chups or rin and see if it has smartmax governor then you can follow the guide

5 hours sot on 5.1 on wifi, it improves performance a lot, liquid smooth ui iphone like

I got a bootloop flashing your TDT tweak zip
How can I solve it without wiping data? Installing the rom over again has no effect, and wiping cache/Dalvik neither. I'm running multirom and I just booted in my other rom (stock based).

Same here... Got bootloops with TDT. I had to reflash everything

Yep i got the green screen as well on blisspop. I applied your other settings though. Will report on the improvements after a few hours of usage.

any ss of battery stats?
how long does your battery run
SGY is only capable of running a max 2.5-3 days with 2G and mobile data without root
you can
-root your phone & apply tweaks
-switch of auto-sync
-search xda forum for more solutions
flash a less battery consuming ROM or tweak your build prop.
use search to learn how....:good:
also root your phone and use JuiceDefender from market

Your battery is pretty good among galaxy y....you can double or even triple that with JuiceDefender
Their are ROMS built specially for less battery consumption......
Try every Rom and find which one suits you...Good Luck:good:
yes it does
rooting allows you to use a variety of apps that can control unnecessary cpu and data usage
ROM's dont have such noticeable effects
a good kernel may be able to save battery
just go through the development section read some threads get an idea of the good and the bad
Root ur phone
Flash a custom ROM and a kernel
follow the instructions properly(each ROM and kernel will hav its instructions in the thread)
download apps like no frill cpu and cpu spy to change cpu settings after rooting and flashing a custom kernel
and finally flash some tweaks

It disables data and wifi when not in use and many other things and doubles your battery backup....premium version can triple your battery
Try "Deep sleep power saver". This app really works compared to other apps. I've tried n got better battery life compared to before.
Do try it and see yourself on Custom mode in this app.
If it works dont forget to thank me
Root ur phone and use savie kernel. Can last up to two days. I've tried it. So good lol
I don't give a fish
Dude your phone's awake
install better battery stats and post some screenies so we can help you out
Why?
Because by default kernel settings the CPU governor is Performance, which means the device will use the maximum CPU clock (800mhz) as much as possible, also the voltage during that instance is 4mv,
I use a custom kernel with my rom on my SGY and since i don't do any heavy gaming i set my CPU to a max of 624mhz and enable Ondemand governor, that way the device uses 3mv of power thus maximizing battery efficiency,
Search on the dev section for good roms and kernels to get you started
Don't use juicedefender or any other crap since they cause more battery drain than they save simce they keep the CPU awake and disables deepsleep
Sent un Samsung Galaxia S Quatro LTE
Dont use livewallpaper and play gaming..
Agree if using savie kernel thats make saving battery..
Use hyperion 8 with savie kernel n no bug at all..
Btw anyone can pm me for link savie kernel..now im using remix v2.5 i want to change my kernel..

battery must have worn out
I don't think OP has a problem with his battery. SGY is kinda battery inefficient with stock ROM
get a custom kernel. I personally use Kuro's kernel as it is aimed at battery saving.
Set your max freq as 832 and your min at 156.
set your governor as smartassv2 (named blackcats in kuro's kernel)
and io scheduler as sio
with these settings i achieve 2-3 days of moderate use. turn off your mobile data and wifi when you are not using it (i.e. when sleeping)
also turn down your brightness whenever possible

[Q] Custom Kernel

Hello,
I use SM-N9005 4.4.2, Baseband ver. N9005XXUENC2, Kernel ver. 3.4.0-1168347, Build number KOT49H.N9005XXUEND5.
It's a rooted, stock ROM somewhat modded with Xposed, Android Tuner app etc.
I'd like to flash a custom Kernel which will allow overclocking, eXtended battery life and some other neat features I hope more experienced XDA community will recomend.
So, what Kernel would you recomend as a mix of stability and performance for my stock TW rom? I am fairly inexperienced in these waters. Are Baseband version, Build number etc important when deciding on a Kernel?
Any advice would be welcome. Thank you in advance.

Try n3 by wootever, sneakykat and leankernel (last doesn't have so many features but is great for battery & performance) and my personal favorite ael kernel of course.
The kernels are pretty easy to flash just put on SD flash and wipe Cache & dalvik. So don't worry if you don't like the kernel just flash another one.
One more thing don't put two different apps for kernel settings (like Synapse & Trickster) on the device cause that may cause conflicts. Have fun testing

Is it really necessary to wipe cache & dalvik? I've read in several posts that it is not required as there will not be any benefit.

To quote Hacre, an excellent dev on other Samsung devices - wiping cache and dalvik for kernel flashing is like filling your car tires when the gearbox is ruined...

What are the immediate advantages I received compared to the default one? How do I get the most out of it now - what next?

That is pretty hard to answer cause I do not know what settings you prefer. (Performance, battery or a mix of both). Download Trickster from app store or set cpu (for last you have to pay though). At first I would try to set just governor and I/O scheduler. In the link you will find some information. Got helped not too long ago

No for Benchmark maybe but most of the time the phone will crash then.
Personally I take 22565600 as max and 300 min with intellidemand governor and deadline scheduler but every phone works different that's also why you won't find any "perfect" kernel or governor.
how can I flash the kernel I tried CWM to flash the zip file but it doesn't work please help me to find my solution

Custom Kernel CPU Frequency Lock

Hey guys, so every custom kernel I use the cpu is usually locked at the highest frequency. This makes the phone's battery life horrible and makes it very hot. Does anybody know why this occurs and how I can prevent it?
Thanks.

Install a kernel tuning app and see what cpu governor is being used, sounds like your using the performance governor, which will ramp your cpu to max frequency. I've read that some custom roms are set to performance after flashing a custom kernel, this is possibly due to a ramdisk tweak.
If it's set to performance, change it back to interactive (stock) or whatever governor you like and enable the boot option.

Have you set any scripts or flashed anything else or have some app/service running in the background? Something must be putting load on your cpu.
As you probably know, you can only flash a custom kernel over the stock boot.img if using stock ROM or if using a custom rom, you can only flash over the boot.img that came with it. If you change kernels you need to flash the ROMs stock boot.img first otherwise something is bound to go wrong in the ramdisk but easily fixed by flashing your ROMs stock boot.img again.

Appreciate your replies but I've already either done these things or have known about them and none of these have helped. I actually thought this was a common issue amongst Nexus 6P users. Anyway, app processes could be the culprit. Anything you can tell me that might help me identify the app causing the issue (if any)?

It's not a common thing that I'm aware of and I'd imagine it's a user issue, try Better Battey Stats app, it has a process menu or another app possibly would be GSam Battery Monitor.

[HELP] Which ROM is fast and stable with good battery life and most closest to stock?

Hi just want to know which rom is fast and have a good battery life and closest to stock with stock kernel also what do you recommend me?
Depends on the S5 model. There are over 40 variants.

Flash stock rom, root, flash custom recovery, remove bloats using titanium backup, flash custom kernel beofella done best stock rom for me lol...
Phoenix rom i guess
I second that. Stock Marshmallow is excellent once you remove the bloatware.
If you want to make it even better I recommend Boeffla Kernel (boeffla.de) – ATTENTION IT IS JUST FOR G900F! It has a very easy to use configuration app and ready-made profiles for battery saving, undervolting etc. Just remember to take it easy when undervolting, start small with -25mV, run the Stability Test app a few minutes, see how it goes. Usually -25mV should be more than enough. In fact I'm using one of the Boeffla profiles that does exactly that, -25mV on the voltage and limit the frequency to 1.7GHz and I was getting 0.2% battery/hour in idle. (On a fresh install without any apps yet, granted, lol.)
based on stock mm, great bat life, imo try SUPERLite MiNi MM *361mb*

dude for one custom rom?

Because that, there are so many custom rom that you choose. Which would you choose?
I'm on revivorOS because stock gives me more battery fuel. Overclocked cpu with elementalx kernel and viperarise audio mod.

You can find DU at devs-base.
As for ElementalX I disable all memory killers, disable the 4 big cores, and use the interactive governor tweaks as described here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2769899
