Hi just got my new phone Galaxy S5 G900V from Verizon and I have some question.
I’m on official ROM 4.4.2 NCG rooted. I tried official 5.0 OC4 but I didn’t have root and some of my games ware lagging so I switched back to 4.4.2.
1- Which do you think is the best official ROM? Should I stay on 4.4.2 or update to 4.4.4
2- When I charge my phone and it reach 100% often as soon as I disconnect the charger the battery drop by 5-10% so I plug in again for it to reach 100%. Any idea why this happen? Also I notice the first 50% drop much faster than the last 50% is this normal?
3- Is there anyway to force my phone to use H+ only?
I don’t live in US and the best band here is HSDPA+ at work my old Atrix 4G had no problem connecting to H+ but my new S5 constantly drop data connection and the icon on the notification bar constantly change between 3G / H / H+ with the little arrows mostly gray. In network mod my phone say GSM/WCDMA/LTE and if I try to change it, it give only 3 option Global, LTE/CDMA and GSM/ UMTS and none of them is selected. I used Global when on lollipop and I had the same data connection problem.
4- I’m using a case which is plastic but it has aluminum back. Can this metal back cover interfere in signal reception and /or wireless charging? I plan to install one of those ultra slim wirelesses charging receiver.
Thanks
p.s. Sorry for my bad English.

Hello
i have currently 3 smartphones.
Galaxy S3 with Cyanogenmod 10 (stable)
iPhone 5s
Galaxy S4 (since 2 weeks) with Cyanogenmod 11 (M11).
I bought S4 because my S3 screen was broken.
My problem is, S4 stays on EDGE although there is H+ or 3G mobile internet.
Example.
I'm driving back to my place. Park car in garage. S4 changes from H+ to (E)dge. Everything is ok.
Now i go otuside and my old S3 and iphone changes very quickly (few secodns) back to H+. My new S4 doesn't
It stays on (E)dge but there is faster mobile internet available:-/
My girlfriend has Galaxy S3 (stock rom) and i ask her "what kind of mobile internet do you have" (we're in same network) and in the most cases i have EDGE and she has H+ or 3G
Same situation at work.
On my desk S3 had H+, iphone has 3G and S4 has Edge. (all devices in same network, German Vodafone)
It takes minutes or sometimes longer for s4 to change automatically to H+
Last week i had stable CM for S4 (10.2.1) and it was the same.
Old S3 tries pretty often mobile internet. I see on display changes H+, H, 3G, E, G within few seconds.
S4 is stable on EDGE, but it shouldnt.
Any ideas?
How can i enforce S4 to play with the mobile internet Letters and taking the fastest?
Unfortunatelly i don't have LTE in my contract.
It's really annoying if you need fast internet.
Switching gsm module off/on helps in the most cases.
Kind regargds,
topek
In my opinion,
Temporary fix would be manually toggles 2G/3G/LTE, If you wanna stay in 3G just put WCDMA only, same goes to LTE.
Possible permanent fix is to flash the correct modem for your country. It is advisable to download latest firmware available for your country and flash it through Odin, or if you can, extract the Modem.bin from the firmware and post it here, i can make it flashable zip or others can too.
I have an N9005 that is really struggling holding a decent connection
My network (Three UK) only has 3G towers and uses a different network (Orange) for 2G
My friends Note 3 (on the same network) switches between the 2 seamlessly, and he has 3G 99% of the time. I have 2G 99% of the time with 3G connecting very rarely, and even then the connection is very unstable and will quite often cut off
My girlfriend is on the same network and has perfect 3G signal.
I have just recently had my phone repaired for a broken screen (network issue started before the screen breakage) and they replaced the motherboard (I now have KNOX 0x0 wooo!)
Even with the new motherboard the signal is terrible and now, WiFi won't turn on. I hit the toggle and it turns a faded green colour before going back to grey. It will not turn on. I didn't have this issue before sending my phone off.
I had the network issues on both TW and CM based roms and now the phone is 100% stock untouched.
Could this be a hardware or SIM issue?
And would reflashing my stock firmware fix my WiFi issue?
Would this keep KNOX 0x0 in case I need to send it back to Samsung?
Any input is much appreciated
The attached image is the networks my phone picks up, notice it doesn't pick up 3 (3G), just 3 (2G), but other networks 3G and 4G signals are picked up.
Quick bump
For any future searchers with this issue, I sent my phone back in for repair, it's most likely a hardware issue
Before I try a factory reset I wanted to see if anyone else had this problem. Have a unlocked rooted AT&T Galaxy S4 SGH-I337 running 5.01 on straigh talk. Before the update I had great signal strength and data speed even though I'm located in a rural are in eastern oregon but after the update my signal went to crap. Where I use to have full bars I now consistantly get two or it will lose signal and regain it continually through out the day. It seems to only happen when I have my data on, it will just drop and show the circle with the diagnol line throught it. Is anybody else experiancing this? Also I'm still using the same apn settings (which worked great)as I was on KitKat. It's almost like 5.01 messed up the radio.
So... my Note 3 is like new, no exterior damage at all, I've taken well care of it, but I'm having some problems with signal reception.
Using LTE/GSM/WCDMA mode (or LTE preff with CM based roms) where the phone prefers 4G signal, I have 1 or 0 bars of signal, I miss calls and texts and web browsing using data is really slow!
Using GSM/WCDMA (3G mode in CM based roms) I have like full bars but slow internet using data, I don't miss any calls or texts (at least I didn't notice it) but when I am in the train and I pass through a tunnel, the signal is lost and it never recovers, I have to remove my battery and reboot the phone to regain signal (my other phone, a Galaxy Nexus, loses signal only inside the tunnel, then in seconds it reconnects again like it should, I also have full bars everywhere and no problems with the same SIM card, I also have an LG G2 at home and LTE works very well with the same SIM on that phone, it's just Note 3 that has really poor or no reception at all).
I don't think this is normal and I don't renember having problems like this in the past, how can I fix it? Please help me since I can't find any info by browsing and everyone knows Samsung isn't cheap when it comes to fixing things with knox 0x1, and I am fine fixing it myself if I know what to do.
Do phones use different antennas for LTE and 3G/2G? Is it an antenna problem? How can I pinpoint the problem? How can I repair it?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: forgot to mention, I've tested this on many custom roms (CM13, CM12.1, RR, N5 ports, S6 ports, Aryamod, Stock Samsung Lollipop, Stock Kitkat) the problem is the same everywhere so I think it is hardware problem.
Hi everyone,
I recently bought a LG G2 D802 16GB from Amazon. Everything is working good, I only have one huge issue: the network... Every time the phone connects to 3G, it stays strong for a few minutes then the signal quality goes down until it disconnects and falls back to EDGE, which is very slow.
I'm on AT&T in the US. I bought the international one because I'm coming back to France in a few months. I had no problems with my Galaxy Note n7000 to connect to H+ before, and they share the same 3G bands. Both phones are running CM13.
I tried changing the SIM, flashing an older baseband, opening up the phone to try to improve the antenna contacts, nothing has fixed the issue. I have no problems with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or GPS. I'm downloading a stock ROM to test it right now.
Should I change the speaker + antenna assembly? If I understood correctly this is where the mobile antenna is. Thank you.
I opened my phone again and used a multimeter. The black and white antenna connectors are good and the speaker/antenna assembly looks good too, what could be the issue?
i have a inetrnational d802 version too running on cm 12.1. Try typing *#*#4636#*#* in dialer and from there phone info or something(im from estonia, so mine is telefoniteave) its the first choice. From there, select network type lte/wcdma.
Its the only fix that i have found so far, but you will have to do it every time you restart your phone.
