[Q] stump root being weird? any help appreciated! - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi people,
i am on firmware 800d20y, just bought the d800 today. i did the 'brute force' method, which initially worked, but after a short while, i lost root access. I literally have no idea what happened, the stump root app still says 'device is rooted', but the root checker app says i don't have root access. I tried a couple of different apps to check for root access, but to no avail.
any help, ANY at all to get root would help immensely! I'm trying to get a custom recovery (prob twrp) so i can flash a cm12 nightly rom...
im still a little new to this, any help would be appreciated!

You could try LGroot

no, it keeps asking to update the binary, which never works.

Try to flash supersu through recovery

Do you mean through a custom recovery, or the stock one? I'm only asking because I don't have a custom recovery yet. And if you mean through the stock recovery, I don't know how to do that :/

root and superSU

I was updating superSU on my note 3 after root. I tried to use game killer, only to get the message that root wasn't available. I loaded up superSU and was told that the binary couldn't be found... I downloaded a root checker and it said that root access was there... So I unrooted and re rooted. Same deal.
I'm not sure how to fix the issue.
Can anyone please help

When I first got the phone it had a rom full of provider bloatware. I flashed another stock Roma to get rid of it. Then I flashed xnote and decided OT wasn't for me, so I went back to stock (without bloats)

Delete the apps from SU then when prompted give them permission again - like normal you will need to re-open them again and get the "Grant root access" prompt from SU...This may work, has for me everytime...
Only other thing I would do if this didn't work would be re-stock and start from scratch...

I have already reflashed stock back to my phone, re rooted and the problem still exsists
Currently I'm on stock again (downloaded from sammobile)
Every time I open superSU, it tells me there is a problem with the SU BINARY (when I was rooted. I'm not trying to use super SU unrooted lol)
Just rooted again and its still the same...
Reflash stock, full wipe from stock recovery, reroot.
Or u have done a full wipe from stock recovery after flash stock firmware?

Yeah, done all of that. Is there a way to manually wipe the SU binary and reinstall? The root checker app says root access is allowed
Is there another way to see if it's the SU binary or game killer having issues?

If you attempts to fix root access denied on game killer then it won't work. Gamekiller/gamecih/gameguardian doesn't work with android 4.3 and above.
I however tried gamecih with cm based rom last week & it worked

OK, so you're saying those kind of apps will no longer work?
What about the SU binary issue?

Its not a superSU issue, guess the dev needs to update the gamekiller app. Do you have root privileges with other root apps?

Try unrooting superSU from the app itself and reflash the latest (1.94 i think) superSU.zip in recovery or with Flashify (if compatible ,Playstore) flash CF Root in downloadmode. Hope that helps.

ES explorer can't get root access either.
Should I flash superSU.zip straight over the top using recovery? Or is that not a good idea?

Thanks a bunch, it did. However I'm having trouble replacing the chinese SU program with SuperSU. It keeps failing when it tries to update the binary. May I ask if you had the same issue? And also, which custom recovery did you install onto yours? I see that both CWM and TWRP do not support this tab, so I'm a little stumped as to how to proceed.

[Q] Lost root access after flashing googy max kernel

Hello guys,
I recently attempted to flash the googy max kernel on my GT-I9505 and was successful. After doing so, i rebooted my device just for the sake of it(i don't imagine that rebooting can lose you root access). After rebooting, i attempted to use stweaks and it said that it didn't have root access. I then went ahead and opened up SuperSU and to my horror, it said :
"there is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!
If you just upgraded to android 4.3, you need to manually re-root-consult the relevant forums for your device!"
I then googled the problem and many users advised to flash the latest SuperSU zip using cwm recovery. I tried that twice but still didn't gain back root access. After that, i tried rooting my device again using CF-Autoroot using odin but still, i did not regain root access. Further, CF-Autoroot flashed the stock recovery and i lost cwm too...(makes it even worse) and i can't flash cwm because now i am not rooted! Root checker also says this device does not have proper root access. I would really appreciate help to regain root access! Thanks in advance.
I'm using a GT-I9505 running CM11 M9 snapshot build.
A recovery has nothing to do with root. So you don't need root to flash a recovery.
If you flash CF-root then you lose the google max kernel.
In the kernel thread they say that supersu 2.01 works. So try that version.
Thanks for the reply mate, will get back to you when I've tried it

I would download Philz Touch Recovery.. because you can reroot your system easily when you got root before.

I tried the philz way and then installed SuperSU from the play store but still I keep getting the same message! I'm running out of options I guess! What to do?? Please help

Root for my Samsung J5

Hello,
I'm trying to root my phone, and I've used several tools which have proved unsuccessful, such as kingoroot.
Can you give me some other tools that might work?

Install custom recovery (TWRP) for your device and then flash superSU in it. Thats the safest and most effective way

Flashing latest Magisk is better for rooting the device because it has been reported that SuperSu slows down the device whereas Magisk has no such problem.

The word is "reported", not proved. I am rooting all my phones with superSU for 5 years and had no problems. Ever. I had problems with magisk like the app requesting root acces is not prompting and similar.
