Hello guys,
I recently attempted to flash the googy max kernel on my GT-I9505 and was successful. After doing so, i rebooted my device just for the sake of it(i don't imagine that rebooting can lose you root access). After rebooting, i attempted to use stweaks and it said that it didn't have root access. I then went ahead and opened up SuperSU and to my horror, it said :
"there is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!
If you just upgraded to android 4.3, you need to manually re-root-consult the relevant forums for your device!"
I then googled the problem and many users advised to flash the latest SuperSU zip using cwm recovery. I tried that twice but still didn't gain back root access. After that, i tried rooting my device again using CF-Autoroot using odin but still, i did not regain root access. Further, CF-Autoroot flashed the stock recovery and i lost cwm too...(makes it even worse) and i can't flash cwm because now i am not rooted! Root checker also says this device does not have proper root access. I would really appreciate help to regain root access! Thanks in advance.
I'm using a GT-I9505 running CM11 M9 snapshot build.
A recovery has nothing to do with root. So you don't need root to flash a recovery.
If you flash CF-root then you lose the google max kernel.
In the kernel thread they say that supersu 2.01 works. So try that version.
Thanks for the reply mate, will get back to you when I've tried it

I would download Philz Touch Recovery.. because you can reroot your system easily when you got root before.
Tried flashing SuperSU 2.01 but it didn't work... Will now try the philz way
I tried the philz way and then installed SuperSU from the play store but still I keep getting the same message! I'm running out of options I guess! What to do?? Please help

Have you downloaded the right one? For TW and CM there are different googymax kernels

hi people,
i am on firmware 800d20y, just bought the d800 today. i did the 'brute force' method, which initially worked, but after a short while, i lost root access. I literally have no idea what happened, the stump root app still says 'device is rooted', but the root checker app says i don't have root access. I tried a couple of different apps to check for root access, but to no avail.
any help, ANY at all to get root would help immensely! I'm trying to get a custom recovery (prob twrp) so i can flash a cm12 nightly rom...
im still a little new to this, any help would be appreciated!
You could try LGroot

Try to flash supersu through recovery
Do you mean through a custom recovery, or the stock one? I'm only asking because I don't have a custom recovery yet. And if you mean through the stock recovery, I don't know how to do that :/
How to Root a G2 which has TWRP installed?
Hi there!
I'm a beginner and I would be grateful if you could help me with this.
While trying to install CyanogenMod, I rooted my G2 using ioroot and then install Autorec. At this point I made a mistake and recover KitKat stock with Autorec, loosing root privileges. Now when I try to root using ioroot, the device shows me the TWRP menu.
I am stuck here. How could I root and install CyanogenMod????
Thanks a lot!!! Please let me know if this is not the right place for asking this in the forum.
Hi,
I think you can download flashable SuperSu and flash it via TWRP.

Hi @TwinHeadedEagle, thanks a lot for your reply. I installed SuperSu through GooglePlay, after being installed it requested to make some modifications through TWRP, which it successfully did. At this point I was wondering wether I actually had root access or not to my device, so I decided to install Root Checker. This last one says that 'Root access is properly installed on this device'.
So I guess that I am root and I can with 'Installing CyanogenMod from recovery' as it is showed at https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_d802.
Am I right?
Root is not required to install CM, only a custom recovery.
I have a d802. It was running stock Lollipop with no root. I installed a custom recovery (TWRP) and was able to flash CM12.1, Cloudy, and Orion.

Thanks @audit13! At first I was exceptional about using customs roms, but It certainly has given new life into my D802. I find very sad that companies do not work for keeping our devices updated, It is a way of planned obsolescence. My D802 has more than enough hardware for what I use it and now that I have managed to update it (without the help of LG) it is like having a brand new phone!
Thanks to all the xda-developers community!

Of course it will not boot. crDroid is rooted by default.
You probably tried to flash cf-auto root and that's ONLY for stock roms. Never ever use it for custom roms because every custom rom has standard root.
Because crDroid is based on CM you probably have to enable root in developer settings or flash the latest supersu trough TWRP.
You need to reflash your rom to get your rom booting again though.
Thank you!

No idea. You haven't told us how you tried to root.
What is this Whenever I uninstall kingroot I lose my root access.. I rooted my phone from CF Autoroot, means I should have SuperSu installed but whenever I tried to update binary it used to show disable knox and I did it, I completly uninstalled Knox and now whenever I try to update su binary it says installation failed. Reboot and try again.. I tried sever times but same issue Even I googled and followed dufferent method but su-binary didnt updated and I am forced to stay in kingroot :/
I lije king root
Have you tried flashing supersu.zip in recovery?
Yes, sir I tried from TWRP
It says: There is no SU binary installed, and super SU cannot install it. There is a problem. .

I think the problem is kingroot. It may prevent other superuser apps from installing properly.
If you want supersu, start from 0 (reflash stock) and root it with cf-auto-root first.
Isnt there any alternative way????
KingRoot is only useful if other methods of rooting are either unavailable or not working anymore. If you have a GT-I9505, you can do some trick to root your phone with Towelroot by downgrading kernel using the KitKat one and reflash using the stock Lollipop one right away after rooting.
My suggestion to reflash stock first (like @GDReaper said), and try Towelroot or CF Auto-Root method.

I think another way to root would be to flash TWRP and install supersu from TWRP.
I didn't like KingRoot, and found it very invasive. After it is installed, it continues to slam remote servers for no apparent reason.
KingoRoot seemed 1000 times better and their SuperUser app seems fine. However, the only way I could get SuperSU installed, was to freeze KingoUser/SuperUser and then install SuperSU, then install to system. Reboot and done. I just had to keep Kingo's SuperUser frozen to avoid any problems.
Hopefully this helps.

Brother.. I am in Kitkat only. And I used CF Autoroot to root my device
Did you try removing all traces of previous supersu installations before flashing via TWRP? Which version of supersu was flashed through recovery? The phone has the latest releast of TWRP?
@Athakuri700,
Your phone model?

Its s4 gt-I9505 kitkat 4.4.2 baseband XXUGNH6.. yes the TWRP is of latest one as I flashed from TWRP Manager app..
Not sure if it makes difference but try reflashing twrp using odin, then flash supersu.

Off Topic, but in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/official-cm11s-roms-ota-updates-t2906746, you will find signed flashable zips for 13.1 which can be flashed from TWRP.

Loosing root is expected. Next time you upgrade your ROM, you can try using FireFlash or something similar to try and retain root. But regarding bootloop I am not sure. I usually flash the ROM and gapps and let it boot. If everything is working, then only I flash superSU. Which version are you flashing anyways?
