Help G2 running VERY slowly - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a G3 and a mate has given me his G2 to sort out. The basic problem is it runs extremely slowly, eg you can only type 1 character every 2 seconds. He doesn't want to root it so options are a bit limited. I reset it and it was still slow, I have now flashed the latest version of lollipop (cse flash) and its still so slooooow, anyone got any ideas...? Many Thanks

When you "reset it" what do you mean.. you turned the phone on and off, or did you reflash the KK firmware with the LG Flash Tool? Enable Developer Options and go to "Geeky stats about processes" or something like that.. anything hogging resources? Also if you're wanting to optimize the phone.. I wouldn't go putting early stage Lollipop onto it. Maybe when 5.1 comes out sure but right now.. still a lot of problems. And one last question.. I assume your friend has kept this phone completely stock from day 1?

Hi, thanks for coming back, my mate performed a hard reset of the phone (effectively a fresh install) before giving it to me. I then flashed Lollipop using the
LG Flash Tool. It's still exactly the same, scrolling lags 1/2 second behind your finger its so slow. I tried Lollipop as I thought it would be a real fresh start. The phone is
and always been completely stock (un-rooted).
Geeky stats shows normal memory usage, system load is typically 9-11 over the last 1,5, 15 minutes....
I'm stumped, if I could root it, I could use system panel or perfmon to see exactly what was going on...
This is so weird, its like its running on 1 cpu core at 300Mhz - the effects are the same.

Slow startup after upgrade

Ever since the latest update (which I totally love), my phone takes over 4 minutes until the startup splash screen disappears, and then another 1.5 minutes until things are useable and not jittery. It used to take half as long before the update. Aside from the dreaded wipe and reinstall everything, is there any other solution? Is there a software that will log what is taking long during startup? My phone is not rooted.
Anyone else notice their startup time doubling?

If you're talking about sense 3 then yes. It is a heavy update and i believe heavier than previous sense that is why you're facing this problem. If you want speed, get custom sense roms...and you won't have this problem.
Official roms are full of junk, for people because not everyone uses everything so to provide every use of the device, official rom provides heck a lot of services, apps to the users but no one uses all of them that is why it takes time to load all of them when in custom roms, bloat is removed so that users can enjoy the speed.

had the same issue, had to hard reset and its super snappy now
I was really hoping to avoid a hard reset, and all the hours involved reinstalling the apps and changing app and system settings.

[q](STUCK) MULTIPLE ISSUES

Hey guys.
there are several major problems with my device.
first of all, lets see what we have here.
Exynos powered SM-N900 note 3 device
About 2 months old
rooted with CF- Auto Root
4.4.2 N900XXUDNA6_N900SERDNA6_SER firmware
that was the situation of device when the first problem showed itself.
Whiel i was watching video from an sd card, suddenly ı realised even if the device is on charge, (wall type) the battery percentage was dropping. when ı saw that, ı stopped watching the video, put down the phone and went to sleep. (it was 15 % at that time)
after 8 hours of proper sleep, I took my phone and saw that it was just 60%.
then ı began searching for slow charging issues. tried exactly everything about it, no luck. ( 5 different brands of different cables, 3 different brands of wall chargers, 2 different original note 3 batteries. tried both for AC and USB charging.)
All of them gave me the same result of charging current of 300 mah.
then ı tried all the wipe options, (wipe from recovery, factory reset from the settings menu, flashing another firmware which is CAC-N900XXUDNA8-20140210150816. ) still no luck. and things started to get worse.
a pain in the ass lag showed up, I'cant even use the camera. its like it comes and goes, but most of the time its there.
slow charging still continues, sometimes it does not charge at all,(had to reset couple of times) and when it charges, it's always 300 Mah and shows in the battery section as USB all the time ( even if I'm charging with the wall charger) ( already tried cache wipe for this, didn't make any difference.)
When I plug it to the PC, it does not recognize the device as a usb device, nor Kies, but ODİN does. (thankfully).
got this really weird screen, and some other screens close to it. (the screen actually faded away like in the picture ı uploaded. waited for it to go out for 10-15 seconds when ı pushed the wake button, the screen came itself just like nothing else happened 10 seconds ago!)
those are my problems, and the device is rooted, there is no warranty issue, so that means I'm stuck. it's not my first android device, and i consider myself just above average android user, but my hands are tied for this. any kind of help would be greatly appreciated!!
Really? No one can answer that?

Did u try charging when mobile is off?if not give a try
Thanks for the reply.
Yeah I tried that. It kind of shortens the time of charging, but still, there are also other problems and some way ı think all of them are connected. That can be a solution only for slow charging, but the other issues still there.

may all your problems linked each other possible, try to uninstall third party apps you have installed, may some app is causing all the problems.

I'm afraid that is also not a solution, because i already performed a full wipe and flashed a clean firmware, which cleared all 3rd party apps, still problems go on.
appreciate the effort though!

are you suggesting EFS back-up /restore?
By the way, i have fresh brand new issues!!
now device doesn't close, if i close it and connect it to a charger, it reboots itself to recovery mode!!!
ı discovered something about the lag issue. if i run the cpu enough, (like playing games) lag goes out. when ı quit the game, it turns back!!
I opened up cpu monitor from the developer options, everytime lag shows up, i see from the cpu list this thing:
irq/563-sii8240
I think this causes all of my problems.
any ideas???

It looks like a problem with a interrupt of the video driver. I read you already flashed a other firmware, correct?

Have you installed any apps to monitor battery drain? I use GSAM Battery Monitor and every time I start to see weird things with my battery, I have a look to see which app is running wild. Removing the app usually sets my phone back to very good battery life. The other day HD Widgets updated their app and all of a sudden I was dropping battery life about 15% per hour when hardly using the phone. HD was the culprit, removing it put me back to normal again. This happens often when companies update their apps.
One other thing, does you phone run hot? In the notification screen, you can see the current temp of your phone. If your battery is draining fast, it will run hot.
Thank you for the feedback. I downloaded the app, here are my first results. Do you think its normal that my kernel alone 74% ? I recently turned into cvm recovery, any ideas for alternative kernels?

Downgrading, Upgrading, Disaster, But a beautiful phone. And Some Crazy Questions...

DOWNGRADING TO LOLLIPOP:: --- B151 from B331
I got it all sorted fellas.
Went to the 5X Repository. Downloaded the Stock 1.51 firmware. Placed the "update.app" from it under "dload" on sd card.
Opened up SuperSU on phone and went to settings to remove root and reboot.
After reboot hooked phone to computer and adb flashed the stock 1.51 recovery found in the repository. "same method as flashing twrp, only use 1.51 recovery.img instead"
Reboot phone again and then powered off.
Hold Volume up/down and power to restart and it updates form the 1.51 stock firmware on the SD card WIPING ALL DATA.
Now fingerprint and all factory settings are restored!
Thanks to all, and hope this helps others coming back from Marshmallow or CM13 like i did.

Figured the above was an important surprise for some of you... OP still valid
Hello Everyone! Im new to the whole Honor 5x thing, coming from an m8 now, and before that a nexus 6, and before that a z3 then before that an S4 and before that an HTC Evo 4G LTE... Along with some minors, LG Risio, Moto E, S5...
Im just happy to say that so far I really enjoy this phone! Within the first few days of using it on Lolipop, i was getting 1d 15h type battery life which if youve looked at the phones ive mentioned so far... Really..really..wasnt what I was used to. A Day? For sure, the htc would be at 18% getting back on the charger... and it would die at 10%... with how long id had it. But... A Day was doable.
Ive been looking for a phone for SOOooOOO long now that had good enough battery to last a day at max brightness... Tweaking kernels, and Installing various ROMS (all of them per device)... Crack Flashing, as some would say. It just became a hobby... Ive noticed many weird things about the community, to those reading... let me list them now...
1. People all of the sudden(within the last 2 years?) prefer stock android over anything, regardless of what additional features are being added... Such as battery life improvements, Multitasking improvements, theme improvements, usability improvements... People like stock android... hmmm?
2. People want to be nexus so bad they will theme other UI's to death, just to make it look like stock, generic android... hmm..
3. Battery life, while a common complaint, seems to be indifferent to how frequently people update their phones.. (note: Marshmellow EMUI has a multi core battery bug, listed on XDA under mods..) or what ROM they choose (note the most popular rom being one with significantly worse battery life than stock)
4. Security improvements are completely unnecessary to the community (note the most popular rom being one that hardly supports the fingerprint sensor)
5. No matter how many bugs (even those listed in OP) people will always flock to the latest update of android. And then subtly complain to the developer about the bugs they already know about..
Such a strange mixture of people...to be sure.
However what ive noticed here, is a complete lack of readily available information, so i am hoping some of you might be able to assist me.
TL;DR
So I succeeded in downgrading my phone from MM to LP, as the battery life thing is a legit problem for me, as much as it may not be for other people. However the fingerprint sensor has been disabled, and no longer exists in the settings list... nor is it part of the startup. (confusing to be sure, you would think it would be there, and just FC when clicking on it were there to be a bug, or if the OS didnt detect the sensor or something... it should still be there yeah? If i understand how it works...
Also I cant seem to flash a B151 rom at all, being on B33...3? <- marshmellow... and im assuming at this point that means i wasnt supposed to be able to downgrade... (oops)
So i got TWRP installed (whats up with all the random errors twrp is throwing? Assuming thats normal...?) and am awaiting a BMarshmellow rom to finish... Which leads me to...
Where are the Emui ROMS? Unless its closed... but if this rom maker can do it... ?
and also, is the fix to the battery life on marshmello noticable to those of you who also care about battery life at all?
Marshmallow battery is really bad compared to lollipop.. we had a BIG.little concept that worked great. But Huawei decided to make it a 8 Core CPU even when idle. If someone could make a kernal that activates the 4 BIG cores only when needed it would be approciated! Stock it runs almost always with 8 cores and the highest freq. This phone is really let down by poor software..

Well there is a fix for it in the mods section that fixes battery. Finally got this phone back to functional lol..
Anyway, the fix for the moment anyway looks like it works, just has to be redone every reboot but really isn't that hard. After applying mincores mincpu 0 the big cores only light up when necessary. So far its helping a lot with battery life at least noticeably. Listented to music the whole way to work this morning and was still at 97% when I got there (I have an hour drive) , and that's using Youtube Music over 4g.. Not too shabby.
Yesterday I got to work doing the same thing on marshmallow at about 85-90 so it is doing something, and watching Kernel Auditor shows the big cores turning off when not in use. Worth checking out, applying the settings that are mentioned there don't do much im afraid, as I cant get them to stick through a reboot yet.
Currently writing an init.d script to make that happen every boot.
For now to my knowledge though it is working. Though I think lollipop was for sure better apps on screen off actually worked properly -_-; which im noticing more and more it doesn't anymore. Its more like a Doze control which is annoying because Doze is not near as good as stock lollipop control. I cant seem to revert back to lollipop and keep the fingerprint sensor though, if anyone figures that out please let me know!
TL;DR
I cant seem to revert back to lollipop and keep the fingerprint sensor though, if anyone figures that out please let me know! Id much rather downgrade than continue to fix marshmallow.
Though for those of you wondering, Viper|Atmos//Sony Beats the audio mod works perfectly on this phone
Just finished Init.d for Mincpus to fix the whole Big Little problem Super good stuff. Phone now booting in the big little mode you were talking about. super easy stuff.
Anymore u tried? I posted that script but still EMUI is an heavy OS im waiting for CM to be abit more stable. U can revert back to LP using a local update though dload. I did it aswell when my phone was bricked. Fp is not working because u miss the firmware
I also lost fingerprint when going back to lollipop. I'll let you know if i come up with any fixes for it.

So Dload for lollipop will revert back from Marshmallow and keep fingerprint reader? Interesting... Does the Dload relock the bootloader? Sorry for the somewhat noobish question, new.
Just looking through sys at the moment to understand the language used for big.little, seems to be a comma separation for them. Wondering if I can set min max this way and keep cores 4-7 at min freq 200000. Also looking for a way to get all big cores to disable when not in use, not just 3 of them which is the current.
Swap set to 0 in marshmellow, seems to speed the phone up a little.
testing Xposed here in a bit to get a few different features, debloated the phone, mostly normal stuff. Playing with other CPU files at the moment in root browser to see what I can do regarding the power draw from the CPU...
set SElinux to permissive to allow for proper audio playback through Viper//Atmos//Sony//Beats...Found Multiwindow, enabling that soon, don't know why it was ever disabled?
Otherwise mostly enjoying the phone at the moment, still above 80% battery with all this that im doing and im half way through my day. the CPU thing really helped with the battery draw.
You should try CyanogenMod 13: excellent battery life, USB OTG and gyro working, much better CPU & RAM management...
FP reader is working, but you must upgrade to MM first (to update trust zone and radio firmwares).

Oh of course, I loose data all the time anyway so im used to that flash far too often to be healthy.
I reverted via a twrp backup, used emergency data recovery to factory reset using stock recovery, then it let me boot into lollipop, just missing that all important fingerprint reader//navigation tool. Will most def do that soon, at 60% :/ not sure where the random drain came from. just an hour later and lost 20%? Has to have to do with Screen off app closing. Huawei probably did the lazy thing and just changed over from their own tools to doze I guess that helps while its on your bed at night? And then never again?
As for CM13, im fairly apathetic to the topic... Not to be annoying, or rude, but ive heard the excellent battery life claim a million times about stock android, and while ive noticed its improvements over something like...say, Sense, or Touchwiz... Ive never seen it beat the z3's battery saving tool (before marshmallow), or as of the day I got this phone, Huaweis non-debloated lollipop.
Ive never seen a phone still be at 30-40%, at the end of work, the day after the day I charged. Until this phone. The Z3 would make it a little past lunch if I barely used it on day 2, but this phone played pokemon go for 2 hours the day I charged it, I spent the day listening to streaming music, browsing for various small things, watching a few youtube videos, a little navigation... And it had 40% when I left work the next day lol at 100% auto brightness. Id love to see some screen on vs idle drain comparisons between this phones CM13 and Stock, at that point, ill believe a battery claim.
It played pokemon go at 60fps and the game is a known battery/gpu hog (s7 plays slower than this phone, likely due to lack of gyroscope?)
other than some various laggy UI glitches, the phone was pretty much what id been looking for (I Prefer Miui over stock android, this phone is similar)

What buildnumber and Custom version/Cust do you have? Might be able to link you the right firmware.. twrp backup doesnt backup firmware that explains that you dont have a finger print, is the H from Honor at boot logo Red also?

Your Reply has been added to the OP for those concerned with Downgrading. Figured it might be nice to stumble upon the directions that, after reading many posts throughout the various roms, many people might actually be looking for. Will likely try this tonight when I get home, battery is much better with the battery fix, but not as good as lolipop
Great.
Hope to help others that were stuck the same way
@igotlostintampa flashed CM13 today.. Im sold on this device i would suggest you to upgrade aswell.. Everything works no bugs so far and its smooth as hell. Battery is insane.. Every core has a task and with normal use it doesnt even scale above 800mhz and the other 4 are offline all the time only when needed they get activated.. Since 1PM i lost only 20% battery (Im on 23 now) while i was installing CM also.. Deffinitaly recommended

Alright so question for you, im interested in that CM13 seems to be using the big little concept we have been speaking about...
((Marshmellow Big.Little Fix does not function properly. It resets without reboot being required, just takes longer to apply than the core modifications under smart power saving, init.d through kernel auditor on smart battery saving mode does not run script on boot, must be manually executed))
Does the CM13 Fingerprint reader allow you to pull down notifications? Will likely check it out, interested... Also, how about a screen off task killer? Is that present... Looking through its forums.

No fingerprint pull down.. No gestures for it yet. No off screen taskkiler but thats fine its stock android you will have enough memory spare.. Got 10 apps open right now no issue and u can instant change to one. CPU is tweaked already with kernal adiutor u can turn off cores manually and tweak it to what ever you like.. Day 2 of using battery is better.. ALOT smoother u can switch from app in a instant no waiting time at all. If u have any questions just ask it. Rom is stable enough for daily use no bugs so far!

Ah see im not worried about memory usage, I never run low on a stock rom in the first place. Stock android has this problem where it allows some apps to sit open eating battery life when the screen is off. Instances of this include facebook, Google maps, general overall "Wakelocks" not present inside of the stock Huawei rom, that prevent the phone from going to sleep even though they aren't doing anything. The off screen task killer is there to close apps hogging battery life in the background that should have turned off when they weren't needed but didnt, after your screen turns off. For the most part this is the cause of the smoothness that you feel inside of a rom. Its going to be smooth because none of the apps are ever turning off, its a balance scale.
Not a big problem, I don't mind fixing that its really easy lol, just curious. As for the gestures that's a little disappointing.. It just seems like I may have to add a bit, but I can try it before I run over to lollistock, ill test it out today. You've convinced me with a claim of good battery though lol, and your previous comments about marshmallow, don't let me down!

GApps on Rooted LG V20

Does anybody know if we are able to flash any other versions of GApps on the rooted LG V20?
My V20 is from AT&T and since day one it has had terrible battery life. Where I was able to use my Note7 or Droid Turbo all day and still have battery left, the V20 eats the battery charge like Sally Struthers in a See's Candy warehouse. I mean, I have to charge this thing at least 2 times a day when I use it to search the web or any battery intensive purposes. I never had this problem on any other phone. I have been trying to find ways to improve my battery. I used Rom Toolbox Pro to disable all kinds of stuff, and it worked great, until my phone started Grand Mal seizing giving me the Google Play Services has to close notifications, which I then had to factory reset just to get my phone working properly again.
I would like to try flashing a minimal version of GApps that pretty much just has the play store and play store services. Are we able to do this on our V20's without having any issues? If you have any input at all I would really appreciate it.
IMHO it must be an app or two you have installed draining your battery like that. On a full charge I can a whole day and a little in to the next. I am a heavy user too. Are you blasting the brightness at 100% all the time? If so auto brightness will help a little. Go in to setting and see what is using that much drain

I was thinking it might be something I installed, as well. But I can't seem to pinpoint any apps that might be causing the battery drain. I keep the screen on auto brightness like you mentioned so it shouldn't be the screen. GSam almost always shows the Android System and Kernel (Android OS) at the top of the list of battery-draining apps. I love the phone, I just cannot figure out what is going on. I mean, I am not doing anything different than I have on my previous phones, and the V20 seems to be working fine. I thought maybe it is something with Nougat. I will gladly post some pics of app usage or data if it might help figure this problem out.

What rom are you on? Are you on stock white theme? I'm running a dark theme, which can help save a little juice. I'm also running as many team blackout apps as I can (many Google apps) to avoid all the whiteness. Just throwing out some ideas.

Interesting! I have never heard of Team Blackout Apps, they look pretty nice! Yes, I am on the stock ROM just the way it comes. I haven't changed anything at all. I have barely installed any apps just to see if I can find what is causing the battery to drain. Are there any other ROMs that work with the AT&T variant of the LG V20? It seems like they haven't made any yet for the AT&T V20. I am still waiting for Xposed to be released that is compatible with nougat so I can use Amplify.

I don't think there are any roms for AT&T variant atm. I did see an AT&T user flashed the stock deodexed rom by tilde88 in rom section. Not sure of all the details though. I'm assuming you would lose some functionality...would need to flash stock kernel as well.
What is your leading source of battery drain under system usage?

Yeah definitely, I think it is a little bit too early, for me at least, to expetiment with a deodexed ROM. But I know there will be some awesome developments coming out soon. I was so happy to see that a root was figured out for the V20 so quickly after it was released. Until then, I will keep experimenting with the stock ROM.

Hi Swizzle82, thank you for the reply. It is kind of difficult for me to pinpoint what the leading source of battery drain is because the apps seem to bunch all detected processes and wakelocks together. I know that Call Services & Android System show up on top a lot of the time, but since I factory reset the phone today, the stats are minimal compared to what I previously had. WeChat also uses resources, but I used that app all the time on my Note7 and previous phones, even more than I do now, and it never caused a problem. I attached some screenshots from GSam, BetterBatteryStats, Wakelock Detector, and CPU Spy Reloaded., I don't know if they will help, but just switching between those few apps and taking some screenshots over the span of 6 minutes, my battery percentage dropped from 79% to 76%.

I had android system for a while killing me.. I factory reset and setup every app one by one with no data transfer or anything. Installed every app like it's first install. I charged it til it reached 100 percent, with the phone plugged in, I went to data/system/batterystars.bin and deleted that file and rebooted. It was a long process but it hasn't been an issue since. This was when the phone first came out last month. Never knew which apps data it was but it is gone now.

That sounds like a good idea to try. I will do this today since I already factory reset it yesterday. I would rather do it now before I get further into using it again. I have not heard about this until you mentioned it so maybe there is an issue with app transfers with the V20 causing it. The battery does seem to drain less than before, but it seems like there are still some issues. Thank you for the suggestion!

If you followed did the dirtysanta method, make sure you flash the Konverged kernel for the H918. Or Tilde88's 5.1 kernel for the H918. It worked wonders on improving battery life. Also make sure you disable Lookout - that drains a lot of battery it seemed to me at least. I usually get about a day and a half of battery life when I use my normal amount (which is honestly quite a bit).

Okay, thanks for letting me know! I have not even looked at those kernels thinking they weren't cross compatible with H910. I am going to try it right now with the dirtysanta method. I will disable Lookout, as well. There are a ton of apps that I never use that drain the battery. I will let you know how it goes :good:

No, I had the Note7 before getting the LG V20. Before that I had a Note 4 and a Droid Turbo. This is my first LG phone and I really do love it. I actually like it more than the Note7, the only problem I have is the battery. I do think that factory resetting and manually installing the apps instead of restoring them will help, and using the Konverged kernel seems promising, from what I am reading.

Yup I always start fresh and install apps manually anytime I reset my phone. I think it's always nice to start fresh - even if it is sometimes a bit inconvenient to go through all the apps you've installed and choosing which ones to install. Hopefully you get it all sorted out!

Okay, I just factory reset the phone, rooted it with DirtySanta, and flashed the Konverged kernel and the phone is NOTICEABLY faster and smoother! This is great! Each time I reset the phone, it had noticeable lag. I just figured it would go away over time, which it did, and that it was because it had to load and download everything since it was fresh. But with the Konverged kernel, it has none of the lag and is silky smooth! Time to manually install the apps I want and disable some stuff I don't need. I will update you guys after I see how the battery is with the new setup Thanks a lot for your help, I really appreciate all the input!:good:
I need your help! I changed the screen cover sensor to off not realizing that I would not be able to turn off the static after rebooting my phone since the sensor is off. Would somebody please post a few screenshots showing how to navigate to the screen sensor settings so I can tap my way there and turn it back on? I am trying but there is no way to tell where to tap with all the static. Thank you!
Nevermind, I fixed it! I finally navigated to the second screen settings and turned it off when the screen is off and that got rid of the static after I turned the screen off then on again. Note to self, never do that again LOL.

Wow I'm fairly impressed you managed to do all that with the static screen haha - glad to hear it worked out for you in the end.
Get me your stock system.img and boot.img, and I'll make you a modded ROM with a custom kernel!

Haha yeah, I never knew something like that could cause such a huge problem. Now I can't seem to find what I did to cause that in the first place. I have been looking through all of the settings and can't seem to find anything that affects the proximity sensor. On top of that, the screen rotation stopped working, it will not rotate when I turn the phone to the side to type. I have toggled all of the motion and second screen settings, calibrated the motion sensor, and nothing is affecting it. When I turn the main screen off, the sensor does not shut off the second screen when I cover it with my finger, and the phone does not recognize when I rotate the screen. I am kind of at a loss on how to fix it.

Terrible performance on Oreo

Is anyone else experiencing VERY poor performance after the update to Oreo? Im talking like apps taking 10+ seconds to open, or just not responding at all. It feels as if the phone only has 512mb of ram, I have tried a format, cleared the cache after the update, all the same issue.

Hello! I'm also.having terrible performance after the Android 8 update. Sometimes it takes over 5 seconds to show the home screen after pressing home, and it also "soft crashes" to the lock screen at random times intervals, no matter if I'm using an app or not. I've tried doing a factory reset twice and wiping the cache from the recovery menu but that hasn't helped. Any advice on this?

I have. Tried a few launchers already, hola launcher, Microsoft launcher and Evie launcher, so far, the Microsoft launcher has the better performance, but still does the "soft crash" I mentioned and takes forever to load the home screen sometimes ?(right now I'm still using the Microsoft launcher)

Battery life is usually as good as new (I got this phone the past October). I can easily go through a full day with very heavy use (playing games on the phone that use a lot the GPU ) and two days when I don't play that much
Since around 8AM today, the top 3 apps that has consumed battery are:
Messenger 8%
Google play services 3%
Simple rockets 1%
Screen has used 5% and my phone has 74% as I'm writing this.

Hmmm. Ok, look in Settings at the "Storage & Memory" section, poke around and you'll see how much memory some apps have used. Anything look out of the ordinary there?
If you have Dev Options enabled there's an option in there to view running and cached apps as well, might be worth a look.
Unfortunately I'm just guessing as I don't have this problem myself, everything seems to be working now as it did with Nougat for me. I don't consider myself a heavy user though so it's not a good comparison.

Well, then only odd thing that I see is that in the storage and memory, Android OS has almost 1GB of ram being used, while the next process is using only about 200MB which is another system process (Android system) after those two is Google play services.
I have contacted asus support as well, and they only advices me to do a factory reset and if that didn't help, send the device to them "to get it checked" but I'm not willing to lose my phone for over a month!!
I also have had the same battery and performance problems. I did a reset and now all seems good, back to battery lasting 2 days with ease. I have gone into the settings for the auto start manager and that seems to have helped with some issues i had with my home screen taking a few seconds to load. I know this solution wont work for everyone i was hesitant to do the full reset but now wish i had done it after the last update as it has made all the difference
So I have found that having a SD card completly destroys the phone, when I took out my 128gb card the phone performs better, not to the level it should, but I can at least use it now. Is there any way to downgrade it back to android 7? Cause I'm at the point where I'm about to buy a new phone.

I was wondering if the SD card had something to do... I contacted asus support and they told me that they do not provide the ROM to downgrade, the only way they could help is for you to send them your phone so they can "check it". Which, as I said before, I'm not willing to do it.

I went through a RMA with asus for my phone once already, took them a month, no advanced RMA process, they sent it back, it broke again in 2 days, then i was without a phone for another month. Their process is pure **** and sending it in won't fix anything, this is nothing but a software issue.
