Is Xposed working for rooted stock TouchWiz 5.0.1 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I just finished upgrading my AT&T s4 to 5.0.1 with root via FlashFire. However, Xposed is a must have on my phone. I've been reading throughout the forums but I'm seeing mixed opions. I may have skipped or missed an article because of my poor eyesight, my apologies.

Doesn't work at this time. You're eye sight is still good

Welcome to the note 3 forums. We welcome you as long as you do your job and search before making 1,000,000 new threads.
So,You just got your shiny new note 3 and dont know where to begin?
Well that's ok because, this is the all in one thread.
Lets begin
How do I Root?
That is the common question around here. Im going to simplify this.. Here you go
For 4.3
1.The best and safest way is this method by @evilpotatoman. It does require a little work but in return you do get root Here is the link for That,
2.Another method that is faster, but does not offer busybox with install, nor did it originate from XDA-forums is Here,
For 4.4 Or KitKat
You have to Go to My thread located
Here,
This does root KitKat and provides a custom ROM.
How Do I Install Custom Rom's
First What you should know is that our phone has a locked bootloader. This means that we can not boot kernels. But we still can flash custom rom's Thanks to @Hashcode
To install custom rom's on 4.3, Head over Here,
Another method That i originally created, but does not work as good as safestrap, could be found Here
If you are on KitKat, Then you could either install my KitKat rom or wait for safestrap to be updated.
What Do I Do If I Bricked My Phone? Or if it wont boot?
Well There are 2 methods to get you back to stock and running again.
To Restore back to Jellybean (4.3) Follow this Thread Here
To Restore back to KitKat (4.4.2) Follow this Thread Here
Why are Rom's Based off different Bases & Whats the difference?
A little basic intro
MJ5,MI9 & MI1 Are all 4.3 AT&T Bases
Ml2 Is an international 4.3 Base
MlG is a leaked AT&T 4.4.2 Base
Mj5 Is the latest 4.3 AT&T Base
Ml2 Is the latest international Base
The difference depends on what you need. Right now There are pro's and con's to all bases
Mj5
-Fast Data speeds
-Better indoor Signal
-No Bluetooth internet tethering
Ml2
-NO group messaging
-lower signal in areas
-slower data
-Does have Bluetooth internet tethering
Leaked Kitkat base (MIG)
-Extremely fast
-Newer modem with better signal & speeds
-Safestrap is not yet updated to work with kitkat (But you could still install my 4.4 ROM)
Why is my GPS Crappy and How do i fix it?
This issue is well known with our phone. The main reason is bad software coding.
To fix this issue Flash this fix made by me, in safestrap or manually push the files using root explorer.
4.3-Click Here
4.4-(Coming Soon)
What is "SafeStrap & Why do i have to use it?
Safestrap is our main method of flashing Rom's and could be found Here,
Always WIPE before flashing a new ROM or expect to receive errors. DON'T BE LAZY
Issues with safestrap
-Sometimes the storage is messed up and shows that you are using all your memory, when you really are not.If you use a different app to check, then you should see your real memory usage.
Where are all the kernels located?
Like i stated earlier, We don't have kernels yet, because of our locked bootloader
Where are all the Roms compatible with my phone?
All compatible and ready to install rom's could be found Here
There is currently NO AOSP,CM Based Rom's, So don't ask
What is KNOX and how does it effect me?
KNOX is basically made to **** us. But Samsung calls it security.
KNOX is removed from most custom Rom's. Knox does prevent root apps from working properly and should be removed asap.
How do I transfer My bookmarks from ROM to ROM?
Follow the guide i created Here
Im still working on a list of roms, and cool mods that are compatible with our phone. they will be located in the second post.Mods please sticky this thread
For me, to post mods and roms compatible with our phone
one more
Great information.
Thank you very much.
I have tried your KitKat 4.4.2. Glad to see it is rooted!
Now, it is easy to switch between MJ5 4.3 and MLG 4.4.2 through SafeStrap and Odin.
Wow very nice! Hopefully this will prove helpful.

Awesome work. Me personally Im waiting for SS to be updated but definitely keeping an eye out.
Im curious on one thing. When you discuss Knox and to 'remove it', would freezing this via TB server the same purpose? Also since youve had a go with 4.4, does Samsungs iteration of 4.4 still have the GPS issues or did they fix it? Just curious
Thanks!

Wanting to down grade back to JB rom from KITKAT v2
I Used to be on JB rom 4.3 And I really liked it. But I wanted to upgrade to to KitKat v2 because alot of people said they liked it. After I upgraded to KITKAT 4.4.2 I really did not enjoy it as much JB 2.6. I used to get 35000 score from Antutu Benchmark but now on V2 I get about 30000 score. And I thought the JB 2.6 was setup nicer. I dunno, but what I do know is that I would like to go back to JB 2.6 because I think it was a nicer piece of work. Anyone know where I can find the tutorial to downgrade back to JB 2.6? I thought I seen it before but I cant seem to find it. Thank you for your time.

[Q] How do I undergo the process of updating to Kitkat and still keep my root?

Hello everyone!
I am an Android user on 4.2.2 with MF3 firmware and safestrap rooted. Currently I really am in need for an update because this Rom (Google Play) has been buggy lately and I believe it is time for change. The problem that faced me was the general process needed to understand what was needed to download to still have root and on Kitkat without OTAing. I have done my research but I have concluded with nothing.
If anyone can help me get started that really would be great! Why can't phone providers like AT&T support the cause of gaining root access? We all are just trying to take full advantage of what Androids have to offer. O well I guess thats a topic for later.
Read in the general forum. You need to Odin to mk2 then follow section 2 here

Can we still change APN settings without root?, other ST&T phones for ST LTE?

I do not have an S4. I ordered one from Swappa expecting to use it on Straighttalks LTE service. Already ordered the sim card as well.
However, of course right after this I started digging a bit more and found that it is currently impossible to root an S4 after it's updated to 4.4.2. The one I ordered is updated.
I'd highly prefer to have root. I don't "need" it. But, if I can achieve root without much issue I'd prefer it.
I did find a few posts about using something called Odin and safestrap. I didn't read fully through them yet. But, I'm curious if doing these methods actually work for downgrading? If they do what are the "limits"? Can I put any Rom in or is it only a specific Rom?
Will I likely run into issues doing this while using the ST LTE settings?
Just trying to cover my bases before I start on this phone. It's not here yet and I'd rather resell it if I'm better off doing that.
I am curious what would be suggested purchase for the ST LTE service since it seems the AT&T S4 is out of question if I can't even update the damn thing. I'd rather be capable of updates and having root. I don't care about being able to do Roms and stuff.
Dude, you can have root on any firmware but it may not be easy to get it. Do you know what firmware your device will have?
Odin flashes the stock firmware onto your device. Safestrap is a custom recovery that you'll need to flash custom touch wiz roms

It can be rooted. You'll need to downgrade thru Odin to mk2 firmware, root it with saferoot then instill safestrap and flash a 4.4.2 rooted rom Start here

No, cm is not possible. Only touch wiz based roms
Edit, as an fyi, if your phone is on 4.4.2 it'll be on nb1 or nc1 firmware. Read up on how to downgrade to mk2. Look in the general forum. Also look at rebel1699's venom magic tool kit. There's a lot of reading and studying to do before you get your phone

I wish I had tried the MultiSystem when I could 2 days ago when I first went Verizon Note 3 from NC2 4.4.2 to Jasmine ROM 5.0.2, and then tried flashing a bad zip. I found myself in a bootloop without SafeStrap.
Now my Verizon Note 3 lost root when I did the restore to NK1 (since I believe you can't flash NC2 anymore once you go past 5.0.0).
To me this reminds me of when I had an iPhone 5 stuck on iOS5 w/ Jailbreak & Cydia but no jailbreak/root for iOS6 for months. Only now it's with my Android.
I left Apple for the freedom of Android and now Samsung is freaking it up! If they want to be secure let them lock down Tizen and leave Android alone with root alone !
So... are you looking at MultiSystem yet?
Here's a YouTube walkthrough and the Q&A thread to get you started. My suggestion would be to take the time before you try anything like I did not realizing the rules of the game had changed with root... (I did a Titanium Backup restore & flashed an "updated" Viper at the same time so I don't know what screwed me if anyone was curious).

Worth rooting and using xposed?

Seeing some threads seems like root is not stable yet. Can people share their experiences on if it is worth rooting the s7 edge and what are the pros/cons u notice after rooting and running xposed. Example - significant increase in battery life.
Debating if I should root or not. So far getting 4 hours of average SOT.
Thanks

Root for g935 IS NOT stable and the Engineering boot is ment for the repair of software issues. Most users find that the con of poor stability outweighs the desire to root the device. However. If you happen to not like the AT&T or rom of your carrier you can install the Samsung branded unlocked device firmware (G935U). The stability of stock for me is key, and until I get a rom like Cyanogen or similar custom rom and unlocked bootloader I'm personally not changing a thing about this phone. I love it! Though I am following the development, pretty closely at that.
Hope this is useful mate, cheers.

Honesty not worth it, I had it for about 1 week and random soft bricks started to happen, extreme lag, and many components becoming broken.
You should wait for a more stable root.

I'm just itching for a reason. I've been checking these forums incessantly (came from nexus 6) to see when root would be achieved at which point I'd make the switch. Loving this device, but am excited to get into flashing roms in the future. For now, I can wait.
I'm rooted, and aside from when unlocking my phone, I don't notice any measurable lag.
Smooth sailing with xposed as well.
IMHO, just take it for a test drive when you get a chance, and see how ya like it.
Ive been rooted for almost a month now. Using this Method :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...-to-notes-root-install-xposed-unroot-t3411039
If you root and use the DeBloat and Performance .Zip included in the OP it should work just fine. The only issues ive found to happen are when I installed the Xposed Framework. For some reason the libraries in Xposed dont agree with the Eng Boot. That being said once i rooted and ran the debloat and performance fix zip ive been running great so far. ive managed 14 and a half hours of steady, stable use with about 53 percent battery left at the end of the day.
I had Xposed installed for a week or so. Not sure if it was the modules I had or what, but it killed my battery life quickly. I wiped my phone, flashed stock, updated to new PG1 Fw, then rerooted. Since not having Xposed, my battery life has been phenomenally better. Just my experience.

How did you manage to install Xposed with FlashFire?
I've been using 935 U that used to be a 935 A ROOTED , flashed exposed with flash fire and enjoy a ton of fun modules , I finally have embraced my s7 into my heart, and if a new ota comes out for 935 U I can odin flash back then take the update , I will say adaway youtube , and background playback alone are worth it , many other great mods working with this as well, lag go's away after a few minutes and I have to sign in to my wi-fi after each reboot, first thing I did post root was freeze security agent log with TIBU.
---------- Post added at 09:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:12 AM ----------
i downloaded the custom 85.1 manam build and flashed it , used exposed installer 3.0 alpha 4 and bingo !

My battery life is also great. Standby drain is better than any phone I've had. I get just under 1% an hour with AOD ON. Best I've ever managed before was 1% per hour, I could never break it until this phone with root.
