Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. On Samsung devices download mode is generally vol down, power, and home buttons held simultaneously.

Hi all,
I've got an HTC Dream with ADP 1.1 firmware installed on it. I would like to flash it with another image. When I try to fastboot it by pressing the camera/power or back/power buttons, nothing happens. The phone just boots normally. That way, I can't do anything.
Please help me.
Which Bootloader do u have installed of the 4 that are available?

I thought he was talking about bootloader mode which is different from the recovery.
He wanted to flash images so he's using the SPL. U can access the SPL normally using camera+end unless you updated to the new Sapphire SPL in which case I am not sure if you use the same key combo to access that one. I thought it had something to do w/ the trackball.
Thanks for your replies!

You need to hold down the modifier button (Home or Back) when you press the power button. Keep holding it for a couple of seconds or until it boots into recovery/bootloader.

Try turning off the phone, pull the battery for a minute and try again. Or insert a Jig after a minute if you have one that is.

Every Samsung android phone has download mode, what S4 model do you have? Turn off the phone, press volume down and then power, hold for about 3-5 seconds and you feel a vibration and you`re in downloadmode.
Eeeer you need to hold volume down+HOME+power

The only other reason an S4 didn't go to download mode was because it was a clone... Are you sure yours is the real deal?

Is your S4 rooted?
If so, you can try download ROM Manager and I think they have download mode together with boot and recovery.
yeah I alone really confused for my own phone, I guest what "ultramag69" is right.
How do I get this phone into Recovery mode so I can flash from TWRP?
I've been searching, but haven't found anything.
TWRP Manager, Goo Manager, ROM Toolbox, Quickboot, and Reboot have all worked for me.

From original android Dev thread.
press and hold Power and Vol- until see the LG logo, after you see the logo release buttons for 1 second then press and hold Power and Vol- again until you see the factory reset screen, just push power to confirm reset, it will prompt you twice, just continue and this will boot you into recovery.

adb reboot recovery
Last I knew users were being warned against using hardware key combos to enter recovery. Did something change recently?

Thanks everyone. I know it was a dumb question. I was able to get in. Goo did it for me, but thanks to your response, I have learned of other ways to do it.

If your LG2 does not boot, how do you get to recovery (this is presuming TWRP has already been installed), since you cannot get to those apps?

Thanks for pointing me there, tdevaughn.
That's awesome, except on this G2 it's power & volume -, wait, then release volume - and press volume +. Othertimes it's as described here. Other times neither method works. Always takes 15 minutes. Got there once by starting up by pressing volume - and power.. Saw the LG logo then volume + and power.. I have a tripolar g2

You can easily recover your device. There are lot of threads regarding this here at xda. So, you better search for them first, and later should ask in a new thread. I, myself, has got tired of answering the same question again and again.
P.S. If you still couldn't get out of it, then PM me
Don't panic.

Have you tried using adb? if not, try it first. If your device really don't have recovery, then flash new recovery using adb :good:
