Huge Battery Improvement
Before the patch, my phone barely last from morning till night. I just use it for phone call, whatsapp, and a bit of gaming.
After applying the patch, I can see huge improvement. I fully charge my phone in the morning and I still have 70% left at night
Attached is my battery usage screenshot

It didn't improve my battery life...

My battery is still not performing as expected shown below is 6am until 6pm... it should last longer than this for 12 hours and minimal usage

it worked
Well it worked just fine with me
5 hours SOT thats pretty cool with all functions on

Has anybody tried a battery saving app?

I'm using Greenify.

Fyi, This only does push for Samsung based apps, that means if you don't use apps like S Health etc, you are better off just disabling the entire service

Finally achieved awesome standby time!

I've just jumped ship to the LG G4 after I was getting annoyed with my s6 battery. I hated the fact that for it to be vaguely good, you had to disable pretty much everything!
I've just been doing a little tweaking on my new G4 and I let it sit with all my normal apps installed to test standby. I just got to 8 hours 44minutes before the battery dropped to 99%. ( I was playing with it since the 8 1/2 hour mark).
How? I installed Greenify and Amplify.
ROM: S3V3N's rom v 6.0
Greenified:
Facebook ( Wake up path cut off)
Facebook messenger ( wake up path cut off)
My EE
One drive
Onenote
Facebook is known to be a big drain, but I use it and don't like to fully disable it. With these settings I still get Facebook notifications!
I still receive gmail etc too. It all seems to work as it should, but doesn't drain for no reason!
The typical LG (G3/G4) slow-drop-from-100-percent "issue".
G4 has it (using a proper setup), G3 has it. It says *nothing* :good:
Case in point, very old G3 pic (8 months ago or so):
https://www.dropbox.com/s/k6aanjf6bgcpygj/BFE6123FCFDA_LG G3_2_PORTRAIT.png?dl=0
Once the battery drops to 99, the "real" drain starts
Ahaaa thats not how it works. Keep using the phone till you get to 10% and then compare to the s6. You will notice s6 has better battery life.

I've never understood why people try to get every possible second out of the battery. They disable half the functions of the phone just to get a better battery graph. I prefer to enable everything and use the phone as it was designed for. Otherwise, you may as well just buy a basic Nokia.

Great job. I like to keep most features on but I don't want to be a data generator for Google.
I also limit RILJ and WiFiOffdelayifNotUsed in Amplify
Greenify: nope.
Amplify: nope.
Amazing (meaningless) 100%-99% drain? Of course.
Having a flat line for 8 hours when battery for example is at 25%, okay, yes then I'll be amazed. But from 100 to 99? Nope. Typical LG issue.
Im at 88% after 47 minutes screen time and 20hours 15 mins on battery. With only 2 bars of mobile signal.
Id say that's pretty damn good considering i haven't had to disable any features on the phone!
My S6 was nowhere near as good.

Top of app sucker list.
1)Android system : 10%
2) GSam battery monitor: 8.1%
So looks like Gsam will screw up my test as its now causing drain :/

The irony
The old eternal question about battery.....? Guys you bought the phone to be as it is. You can take spare battery or charger with you. Unless you go to hike mount Everest. Even then you have solution.
But one i am agreed is that we shouldn't be Googles data provider.

Could be a while before im at 10%!
Gsam says it was plugged in 11hours ago. It wasnt! That was when gsam was installed
And before anyone says 'you havent used your phone' that is the point of this test!
You cant expect a phone to last long when you're using it if it doesnt last long when you're not using it!
i get amazing battery life just by disabling Google location services and Google Now... ever since i did that, my battery life rivals my old iPhone 6 Plus in stand-by mode, i usually get a 3-5% battery drain while asleep at night (7-8 hours)

2. stock battery usage with the graph page (this has apps listed as batery consumers)

On my s6 the phone never lasted more than 2 days and i was lucky to get 3 hours screen time.
Most i ever had on the s6 was 4 hours with lower brightness than i have on the G4.
I don't need gsam or any other app to show me the g4 is lasting longer.

I'd say that your test is completely pointless. You're just testing the battery consumption of a brick in your pocket!
How realistic is it to carry around a smartphone that you don't use at all for >2 days.
In my view it's just a big waste of time what you're doing there...

Not really, because before the tweaks, the standby drain was much bigger.
Lower standby drain = more screen time, so now I know it drains less in standby I should get better battery life in ' normal' usage and more screen time.
A pointless test is person X saying " My battery life is awful" and not stating which apps they have installed and what their mobile signal is like.

Impressive screen in time!

I'm very impressed with the screen on time so far on this phone! I am getting on average 7+ hours of SOT which is so much better than any Android phone I have ever used. Anyone else having great battery life on this phone?

I dont know either. Im really suprised. Havent ever seen phone with 3000mah battery and this great battery life. Dont know how much better is Li-Po battery than Li-Ion. Manufacters started using Li-Po's on this year after Q1/2. Ofcourse i think that newer battery type (Li-Po) would be also better but questions is how much better it is on paper?

This 1% drop overnight was in ultra mode? Or did you leave everything ON and just locked the screen? Because I'm dropping more than 1%, but that's with wifi on. Next night I'm gonna see how it goes in ultra mode overnight.
Battery life is good yes I most often get 6 hours screen on time in 1½-2 days usage.
I am also getting really really good Battery life. 5-6 hours of screen on time with 20% battery remaining. I will post pics later. Last night i took a screen shot and had 3:28mins screen on time with 48% battery left. I am also amazed. some reviews stated battery life was great, but others only average. I can say for certain this is GREAT. I am in the middle power mode. There is so much autonomy on app controls that you can create your own battery life destiny pretty easily. So for so awesome
how you get this great battery time i usually only get between 4-5h of screen on time. Awesome tho for you guys, might be some app i'm using

Galaxy S8 Android Oreo battery life thread

I flashed the leaked Android Oreo OTA to my Verizon Galaxy S8 and am experiencing pretty terrible battery life. I'm getting about 2 1/2 hours of SoT which I find bad for 2018. Meanwhile, my Verizon LG V30 with Nougat is getting 5+ hours of SoT which drives me crazy. Any tips to improve? Also, how's your battery life with Oreo on your S8?
I haven't taken the dive for the Oreo beta based ROMs but have been following the threads and the consensus is that at present Oreo is no better than N, it actually seems to be a little worse for most, hence I'll wait for a while still before jumping to O, give it more time for fine tuning on the S8 by developers etc. just my opinion, plus I get 6 odd hours of SoT on my N custom ROM so I have no urgency to go to O until its more polished.
Terrible, i updated mine couple of weeks ago and noticed about this battery issue, it drains fast despite of disabling the likes of location, reducing the brightness, bluetooth. i informed samsung about it. Before i used it outside with a (-3 temperature since i live in Finland), it was fully charged 100%. I only used it NOT more than 5 minutes for videoing and taking pictures and that's it, i stayed outside for more than an hour. When i checked my battery it was 56% ! I know that cold temperature diminishes the battery performance but not to extent of that emptying the battery in half:

After I updated to Oreo I had horrible battery life as well... It one time dropped about 20% when the phone was resting with the screen off in the couch.
I disabled everything bixby related. Force closed, uninstalled updates, and disabled in every way possible.
Now I get decent battery life. I live in Sweden, we have -4°c today, and the phone worked just fine even outside. No significant battery drop.

Oreo battery life

I can't cope with this bad battery life that came with Oreo. I'm not a heavy user and I do have Bluetooth enabled because of my Gear S3 - but at this rate I need to recharge my phone twice a day...
I've already done a restore, removed all unnecessary apps, replaced mail Push to 15min and other changes for a better battery life. But nothing helps.
Do you also have the same issue?

I did a factory reset after my upgrade.

turn of "mobile data always on" inside Developer Options and see.
Can someone on the internet identify this underlining issue of battery getting exhausted so rapidly. On Nougat it was just fine but after updating to Oreo, battery backup is gotten worse. Whenever I see battery stats Android OS and Android System using absurd amount of battery just below the screen usage time and sometimes either of them is on top in usage.
I have done numerous resets with and without data restore. But nothing changes.
I think have found the problem. Samsung Email, after Oreo this app keep on in background every time (do not look in battery monitor but in applications) . I already try one day without any mail app and the gain is enormous and other one day with other mail app (Gmail) and the gain is also enormous. For last day (tomorow) I try again with Samsung email for confirm the result .
Same problem here but with my S8+. Went from 7h SOT to 4h SOT. I also deleted samsung mail app and replaced it with gmail but even that didn't really fix it.. Other than that Oreo is really good in terms of performance, but I want my old battery life back. Hopefully Samsung will fix this with the next update.
I am really surprised some people have better battery life with Oreo. Maybe it has to do with Snapdragon vs Exynos ? I have an S8+ with Exynos CPU
I had great battery life with Oreo beta 6 but then I "upgraded" to the final version CRAP and my battery life is now a crap!
Currently on my S8Plus(Exynos) I am unable to get a full day of battery backup with moderate usage. SOT usually lies between 2-2.5hrs max in 12hours on battery.
Also I don't have Samsung Mail App. All things stock with limited no. of 3rd party apps likes social media apps, 2-3 shopping apps and also 3 gmail accounts synced.

Hi I went by your suggestion and checked in apps to see which one were consuming the highest battery & my culprits are Bixby Global Action & Bixby Service each consuming 11% each (Please see attached files). I am also attaching usage statistics of today. Both before disabling services and after disabling. (See the time to figure out). Will get a better idea tomorrow.
Suggest everyone to look in to their apps usage and post their findings.
EDIT: I just checked I had used the STOPPED the applications but forgot to disable them. Have disabled them now at 17.45 PM and will update later.

Hi sorry i didn't take it but i am getting around 6h 45mins+ and i only used to get 5h 45mins before on the same usage pattern.
Also before i was using dark mode all the time and now i am using scheduled dark mode. So i believe i can squeeze in 15-20 mins more if i use dark mode only. This is great. I think they updated the pixel 4 first as users reported improvement in battery life in Jan or Feb.
My battery is at 90% health, so that is really gre8 seeing it boosted by an hour.

Indeed man. I am losing 1 percent overnight (7 hours deep sleep).
nothing change for me.
losing 3-4 % night (8 hour)
I think battery has worsened, but the animations are much much smoother. Especially the home gesture animation
When I say worsened, it went from 6h to 5.5h. Still a beast.
I always lose 7% over 7-9 hours, the wifi draining problems persist
Im getting anywhere between 6 to 8 hours sot. Depending what usage I've put the device through. But I do think dark mode really helps a lot on this device.
