Boot animations for stock G2 Lollipop - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I understand that the G2 has a different method of how the boot animations are presented, I have been looking around for boot animations but none work due to the quick case animation settings?
Does anyone have any animations that would work with stock (rooted)?

As far as I know, the bootanimation on lollipop (for me its D802 leaked vodafone) is located at /system/media/bootanimation.zip and for shutdown animation it is /system/media/shutdownanimation.zip
Both zips contain serval .pngs and thats it.
Should be like on AOSP.

It doesn’t work like it does on my Nexus 5, I found this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmob...d-5-0-t2961808 but am not really understanding the process or why it is different. I have tried different boot animations the way you described, changing the permissions to 644, placing it in the right folder, etc. all to no avail. Every attempt leads to the LG logo right to the home screen after a screen flash.

I also tried several bootanimations and i noticed that for me the problem is that on almost every boot i get "Android is upgrading" popup which is blocking bootanimation, i don't even see stock one when popup is up.

I installed the G Flex boot and Shutdown animation from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/themes-apps/mods-lollimods-lg-g2-official-based-t3036565
Manually, and it works like a charme

[Q] epic 4g boot animation

Hey xda community I have been messing with my rooted and romed epic 4g I just attempted to flash the nexus s shutdown and startup boot animations. I know samsung has their own special format so the animations shouldn't work. I am confused because the shutdown animation does work but I can't get the boot animation to work. Can somebody explain why the shutdown works when the bootup doesn't?
Custom boot animations only work with a modified kernel. Samsung uses a proprietary file in stock ROM's for the animation. As far as I know, no one has access to the software to modify them. So as a work-a-round dev's started mod'ing the kernels to allow a series of .png files to be played at a specified frame rate to create custom animations.
The shut-down animation format is the same on stock and cooked ROM's and doesn't rely on a modified kernel to work. It is also comprised of a series of .png files, the same as a custom animation. There is, however no way to control the frame rate that it plays at, or to tell it to loop.
So, after all of that there, the straight up answer to your question is...if you're running a ROM that has a stock kernel then the custom boot ani won't work, but the shut-down will!
Oh, and by the way, you posted this in the wrong forum. It should be in "General".
thank you so much i was just confused and sorry about it being in the wrong forum. oops

Looking for stock android boot animation

Does anyone have the stock android boot animation zip file? The one I'm talking about is the one that says "android" with the glow that goes from left to right. I can't see to find it anywhere. I'm guessing the one I need has to be optimized for tablets.
Thanks!
Edit: Never mind, this thread can be deleted.

[Q] Help with bootanimation

I have been looking for a while so if there is a solved thread a link would be helpful vs scolding
I am trying to create a custom boot animation for my new G2 from scratch (themed for work) and I have been able to look at the stock animation files so I thought I imitated the files pretty good but now when I boot the phone the animation is just blank.
If I put the stock animation file back the boot animation stays blank. Im not upset about it as I like blank vs the stupid verizon one but really would like the get the custom boot animation working.
I am rooted and use root browser. I was able to change the one on my galaxy s4 with no problems just by replacing the files but this one has me stumped as it has even blocked the stock boot.
Thanks for any help in advance.

How to Remove Unlocked Bootloader Warning

Now that we have root there must be an easy way to remove the unlocked bootloader warning. Anybody know?
fastboot flash logo logo.bin

Thank you.
I didn't care for the red one in your link, so I used the one from the Moto G, found here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/themes-apps/remove-unlocked-bootloader-warning-t3014947. I just extracted the bin, and fastboot flashed that one.
What?¿? Don't like the red one....?
Here are some others....

Just what I was looking for!
This is great, thanks. I also used the Moto G one. Now on the lookout for a nice solid black one. Much easier on the eyes when you reboot laying in bed haha.
Is this also the same way you can change the greeting?

Very nice. Love the stealies! One question. Can these be flashed via TWRP, or through fastboot? Also, it seems that through fastboot, they need to be *.bin, and the ones in the ZIPs are .img.

The bin file you seek should be with in the zip.... I've personally never tried to flash them thru twrp
When I flash that Logo, it makes a ribbon of like 10 of the logo real small across the mid of the screen

Yeah, that one did that to me too, before I swapped over to the Moto G splash.
Dark Version of Stock Boot Screen
Well, I decided that I just wanted the stock Boot Screen but with a black background,
so I made one.
the Bin File is zipped inside the attached zip (this is not a TWRP installable Zip)
Additional Dark Water option added
EDIT:==========================================
Removed the original files --- and these are not TWRP installable zips
-- the file inside installs with the command --
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
-- assuming your logo.bin is in the directory that includes fastboot.
Hi, I found out that the program I was using to create the Boot Screen, only had 3 screens updated,
you may have noticed that after flashing the BootLoader screen button info text moved to the center.
The new file below MotoXPureDarkFixed
has everything back the way the original worked, except for the backgrounds are now dark, and of course the warning message doesn't display
The MotoXPureJBlueIce one is the Darker Glassy pic below, it also themes the BootLoader screen to a darker blue.

That is true, but the source images from the 1st 2 came from the original "Remove unlocked bootloader warning"
thread... and shouldn't really be used, even though they kind of work.
the last 2 files that say Pure instead of play, just say "powered by Android"

If you are talking about the BootAnimation, that is a totally different file than
the bootloader screen.
If you want to change the bootAnimation.zip, there are many available on the xda website.
and now one posted in the moto x Pure thread
Thank you, the MotoXDarkPureFixed logo worked.
To let others know, this was on my Moto X Style XT1572.
Is there a way to make the bootloader unlocked screen black? I kinda like it just don't like it burning my retinas to kingdom come

Change Boot Animation

Hi, following threads on these forums I was able to root my phone! First time rooting and it's awesome!
The thing is I can't manage to change the boot animation and I'm pretty sure this is specific to this phone, since every guide tells you to just either plop your bootanimation.zip into /data/local or swap it with the original in /system/media
I can't manage to do it in the Xperia L1, tried both things, also as a test I tried uncompressing the original boot animation in my PC and deleting the contents (not the folders) of the loop and outro folders then zipping it again (in storage mode) and putting it back in /system/media
Also as a test tried straight up deleting the bootanimation.zip, just to find it plays anyway on reboot.
Due to these little experiments I'm beginning to think this XPERIA logo boot animation is straight up hard coded in the bootanimation executable in system/bin ? Either that or the original bootanimation.zip is also on another sneaky directory and when the executable detects something weird it defaults to that one?
I even tried de compiling (or disassembling?) the bootanimation executable but I found thousands of assembly code lines and was quickly discouraged out of searching any trace of bootanimation management in there.
I know by reading the forums that a lot of good devs tried getting this phone back to life and founding issues like RIL problems on custom ROMs, or Sony disabling recovery so you have to flash TWRP on boot (this is so dumb).
I actually had rooted the phone on stock ROM then got comfy and flashed Resurrection Remix dismissing the only bug (didn't know what RIL was) present then finding out I couldn't use it as main with that ROM because no SIM, then tried using Flashtool to re flash the stock ROM to no avail, to then finding about xflasher and it saving my life haha.
Now I just want to swap a pety boot animation, plz halp!
