I know that the thread is around somewhere but i can't seem to find it, but i really fancy putting that bootanimation of the android hitting the apple sign or maybe another boot animation but have no idea of how to go about replacing the original galaxy s animation with it. Any help would be grateful
I was wondering if anyone knew how to make boot animations for the Galaxy SIII. I know that samsung uses a different format for their boot animations (QMG files). So would it be possible to make a series of PNG files into a QMG file to use as a boot animation?
Thank you for any help in advance.
EDIT: Also I am on the verizon version so no custom kernals for me.
I have been looking for a while so if there is a solved thread a link would be helpful vs scolding
I am trying to create a custom boot animation for my new G2 from scratch (themed for work) and I have been able to look at the stock animation files so I thought I imitated the files pretty good but now when I boot the phone the animation is just blank.
If I put the stock animation file back the boot animation stays blank. Im not upset about it as I like blank vs the stupid verizon one but really would like the get the custom boot animation working.
I am rooted and use root browser. I was able to change the one on my galaxy s4 with no problems just by replacing the files but this one has me stumped as it has even blocked the stock boot.
Thanks for any help in advance.
I understand that the G2 has a different method of how the boot animations are presented, I have been looking around for boot animations but none work due to the quick case animation settings?
Does anyone have any animations that would work with stock (rooted)?
As far as I know, the bootanimation on lollipop (for me its D802 leaked vodafone) is located at /system/media/bootanimation.zip and for shutdown animation it is /system/media/shutdownanimation.zip
Both zips contain serval .pngs and thats it.
Should be like on AOSP.

It doesn’t work like it does on my Nexus 5, I found this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmob...d-5-0-t2961808 but am not really understanding the process or why it is different. I have tried different boot animations the way you described, changing the permissions to 644, placing it in the right folder, etc. all to no avail. Every attempt leads to the LG logo right to the home screen after a screen flash.
I also tried several bootanimations and i noticed that for me the problem is that on almost every boot i get "Android is upgrading" popup which is blocking bootanimation, i don't even see stock one when popup is up.
I installed the G Flex boot and Shutdown animation from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/themes-apps/mods-lollimods-lg-g2-official-based-t3036565
Manually, and it works like a charme

The link came truncated. I believe you refer to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/themes-apps/bootanimation-proper-android-5-0-t2961808
So I like having android up to date on this device but like some of the customization that razer was bringing to the table. After a full on fight with my spare parts razer phone I have THIS LINK that is all of the ticks and boops that i was able to find using the root explorer. This also contains the boot animation, and the stock wallpaper! The pixel experience boot animation seems not to be working with the stock razer animation is installed. Splash screen right into the os? If some one can confirm if that is working that would be awesome. When installing you will need to change the files permissions. Have a Great day!
Edit1: yep the boot animation is working great after getting some free space on my root partition!
Edit2: Made the DESC.txt a bit more compatible with Android 13 and made it run 60fps Link
