Secondhand device seemingly soft-bricked - need help - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My sister acquired a Galaxy S5 on Craigslist that is seemingly soft-bricked. It boots up until part way through the animated Samsung logo and black screens.
The model is SM-G900A according to the sticker under the battery and it is an AT&T phone. I've attempted to follow one of the recovery guides floating around here to reflash the stock firmware, but I'm still stuck at the exact same place where it goes black during that Samsung logo.
If someone would be so kind as to point me to the correct guide if one exists on how to recover from this.
If more information is needed I'll try to provide it as best I can.

[Q] Help! Rooted Samsung GT-9505 stuck on samsung logo

Hi!
I just rooted my Samsung GT-I9505 a few weeks ago with Odin v3.07 and CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.tar.md5.
Note that I didn't install any custom ROM.
It worked fine until now.
When I turned my phone off, it got stuck in reboot. The screen is black with a "Android OS is upgrading.. Opening all applications."
It's been 30mins and it just stayed there so I decided to take the battery off, put it back in and turn myphone on.
Now it's just stuck with the samsung logo. And whenever I factory reset and reset cache it, it just get stuck with a black screen with a "Android OS is upgrading.. Opening all applications."
Did I just bricked my phone? Is there any way to fix this?
Any help would be deeply appreciated. Thanks!
Wrong section maybe?

From your post I see you got gt-i9505 and that is plain Galaxy S4, not Galaxy S4 Active (gt-i9295). Although the phones are quite like twins, try S4 forum instead.
But if you really have S4 Active (again, it's gt-i9295, it has 3 physical buttons insted of just Home under the screen) and you flashed 9505 as root method, this forum deals with your approach and this particular post might be of interest. There is however even easier way and that is to root from now working CWM recovery for i9295.
Either way good luck with your phone :fingers-crossed:

Yeah! Sorry. Posted it in the wrong section. Just don't know how I'll delete this post.
Aww.. Thanks! Hopefully it'll be fix before the morrow.
Please pay attention to the device forum in which you seek help
There are many models of S4 and use of some software will turn your device into a $700 paperweight

Did I make jewellery out of my s7 edge? :S

I have the S7 Edge SM-G935F, which is the exynos version I believe.
It starting with unrooting, which boot looped my device. I have tried samsung kies firmware recovery but the download always stopped at a certain percentage saying an error was found in the dowloaded file. I tried to fix it by flashing what I believed was the stock bootloader with odin but that made my problem worse.
It turns on and shows a red coloured screen, and the voice assistant kicks in to babble but seems to not respond to touch at all. I think I can go into download mode, because I've seen a shop assistant get into it when I took it to see if they can fix it. Unfortunately It would cost 230 euros, which I cannot afford. And in case you are wondering, no I didn't buy the phone. I got it as a birthday gift, as I never owned a smartphone before that.
I loved trying out apps and tweaking the phone with root, but unfortunately I wasn't careful enough.
Is there any hope for me? Thanks in advance if anyone could help me out.
EDIT: Thank you to both replies! I did as you said and I downloaded the correct firmware. It seems the one I flashed before was actually incompatible. Everything works now thought, I lost all data but better than having no phone.

Go to sammobile.com, create an account & download the latest firmware for SM-G935F. Install Samsung Drivers on pc. Boot device into download mode. Extract the downloaded firmware and use odin to flash it.
In case you don't know there are 2 S7 phones, S7(930F) and S7 Edge(935F) and their firmware files are not exactly interchangeable.
I think you might flash s7 firmware on your s7e since red screen is the same symptoms when you flash S7flat kernel on S7 Edge. The fix is easy, just reflash again with the correct file.

Unlocked splash screen

I've been trying to locate the splash screen file. I've been told is in the param.bin, I've been having problems taring this file. I have been provided the stock splash but I need the version with the custom text and the unlocked padlock. Any help would be appreciated.
Hello, I don't know if you are still with the problem, but since nobody wrote, lets see what we can do.
I have my Note 4 now for like 4 days, but as I changed the boot splash screen on every Samsung device I had in the past, I thought it should be easy to do it on the Note 4 also.
The problem was starting when I found threads here about changing the boot splash screen, every single of them wasn't exactly for my model the N910F. And I can also remember that I mostly had European "F" models.
Till now I didn't found a way to do it on the N910F, don't know which model you got, maybe you got the "N910C" then it should work.

I may have bricked my phone... SM-G935V

Hello everyone, this is my first post to XDA but I figured this was the best place to turn. So long story short I purchased a refurb model Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge from Verizon a while back (Model SM-G935V) and recently I moved over to the T-mobile network. I was having a plethora of issues and decided to try and flash my phone to the Tmobile version using Odin. I messed up a few settings while trying to flash and now my phone will no longer boot past the Samsung splash screen. I can still turn the phone off and get into the bootloader and download mode. Is there anything I can do or is my phone trashed?
I tried doing a device initialization through smart switch but was unable to locate the serial number of my phone anywhere on the device (I think the idiot I bought it from took the sticker off). Obviously I'm not able to get into the software now to check that way either.
Do a stock version of your previous software and it might work ..Did you make backup of previous software ? Twrp installed?
