SM910F bought yesterday, why no lollipop available - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I search for an update it tells me my current version is the latest. That is kit kat. I want lollipop now! Coming from HTC one m8 with smooth lovely lollipop. Help me. I'm living in Netherlands right now, contract free.

Download it from samfirmware.com... use odin to flash it.

Thanks for advice..is that completely safe to do and does it void the warranty? If I update using a carrier version will it cause problems?

It is safe, as long as you download the specific firmware N910F. It will not void your warranty.

Hi.
No, it will not void warrranty as long as the knox status stays 0x0.

Hi thanks for reply
Can u also tell me i flashed 4.3 of russian country .. it came with some games which were uninstallable, can there be any chance that the rom is fake? It says 4.3 version in settings
Also if i go to samsung care centre to have indian firmware installed, will it cause any trouble?
Hmm.. fake rom? None that I knew..
I think it's better to get yr country's last firmware. So that samsung will not ask this and that...

if u download yr latest firmware from Sammobile and flash it with odin, it will not void yr warranty because this is a stock firmware. Samsung has already know that the latest update has been released. So, knox is 0x0. (if u keep it unrooted for a month or so...)
But if you rooted yr latest stock firmware, then the knox will be triggered 0x1. and warranty will be void.
just a note: flashing anything after "XXUD" firmware will trip a flag.
I hope u get a clearer picture.

just go here and download latest update http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-N9005
and save yourself lot of time waiting for update
Just be aware you will change your CSC and also your bootloader to the newest. As your region hasn't updated to a firmware with the latest bootloader if you have a problem and need to do an emergency firmware restore, it won't work. Your phone will start bootlooping as the older firmware is incompatible with the new bootloader...

OK, depends how you do it. I've used Mobile ODIN Pro to upgrade firmware from MJ1 to MJ7 while still retaining root. This also has the extra benefit of NOT flashing that new crusty bootloader that won't allow root or triggering warranty void.
Also I can still do my emergency recovery as it has the old bootloader.
There are people using RDLVC to upgrade to newer firmwares but Mobile ODIN Pro is easier for me (just remember though, Knox will ALWAYS be triggered if you flash a custom kernel\recovery - this is for stock flash only).
As long as you have the old bootloader, you can upgrade using MOP without triggering Knox.
Kingoapp and Vroot have been removed from XDA as there was extra information being taken from your device for no good reason... You will probably see clone phones with these IMEI's coming out in a while...

As far as I've read, anything over MJ3 contains the new anti-root bootloader. Flashing any form of root will trigger knox warranty void...

Ok, this is how I understand it, although I could be wrong on some things....
a) 4g on three has nothing to do with your SIM
b) 4g on Three has nothing to do with your ROM (Stock or Custom)
c) Three have not switched on 4g yet and apparently at first it's only four places, so unless your in one of those there really ain't any rush.
.
d) If your on a stock or even custom rom the 4g network setting does not show as an option, As your rooted though you can use an app called phoneinfo from the play store. Using this app you can change your network setting to anything you want.
e) This one I'm not 100% about, Getting 4g on three can only be modem related, you can upgrade your modem(s) to GSM_Modem_XXUEMJ5_and_LTE_Modem_XXUBMH1 without getting Knox.
Please read up about e) as I've spent ages looking for a definitive answer and I think I'm correct, if you find anything else out then get back to me.
.... If anyone else could verify the above that would be great.
Hope this helps a bit ...
Cheers
Three 4G OTA Update on rooted phone
I am in a similar situation, I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 Rooted with Kitkat ROM (Poland) .
I contacted Three UK about the 4G update and asked them to send it to me. I was told that closer to the time I should unroot the phone DL the update and reroot. However I am not sure that would even work for various reasons.
I think that the info mentioned is accurate we just need to establish the correct file for each phone and flash with Odin.
Any further information appreciated.

Flashing stock (e.g. from Sammobile) will never trip your Knox, although you cannot flash a 4.3. JB firmware as downgrading is not possible.

[Q] Upgrading rooted SM-N9005 to 5.0 Lollipop

I have a rooted SM-N9005 with CWM recovery and unfortunately now my KNOX is tripped 0x1. I'm running the stock Samsung rom Android 4.4.2 and when I run the software update the message, "Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available" appears.
My question is when 5.0 Lollipop officially rolls out for the SM-N9005, how could I update my phone?
Very simple actually. You just need to download the full ROM from www.sammobile.com and flash it via Odin.
Thanks doublesdevil makes total sense.:good:

I guess the only downside to having Knox 0x1 is having to update manually through Odin. I bought my sim free N9005 overseas to use back in my country where my carrier doesn't offer this model of phone so I could forget about getting any warranty support anyways.
