Best custom rom & list bloatware safe to remove? - Galaxy Grand 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,,
I just rooted my device using Cf-autoroot and worked flawlessly. And I wanted to install custom rom but have no idea what's the best one (for daily use & all features are working).
And also, while still consider which custom rom to install, I wanted to remove all bloatware but I dunno which one save to remove? Do you have any grand 2 bloatware list that save to remove?
Thank you and all the best XDA team!

Hi there.
I cannot give you a list that a sure deal, if you decide to remove something just check what it does before. Try freeze those apps insted before you delete.
You can use two apps from playstore
1. No bloat
2. System app remover (root)
Both will do the job. In NoBloat you can even delete a file and save backup.
I did remove the apps below and i have no problems at all, some will be in system\app folder, some will be in system\priv-app folder.
I did replace few apps like music player, video player, clock. So i didnt mind removing the stock one.
Here is my personal debloat:

System apps safe to remove

This question is often asked when people buy a new android device. So, what preinstalled system apps are safe to remove after one has rooted the Galaxy Tab?
You can uninstall these apps (or even better freeze them) using Titanium Backup after rooting using this methodthis method.
Here is what Ive removed so far with no problems:
Kobo
eBook
Digital Frame
Readers Hub
Daily Briefing
Y! Finance Clock
Swype
Live walpapers (all of them)
Live wallpaper picker
News and Weather
AccuWeather Clock
Home screen tips
Music Hub
Samsung Apps
com.sec.android.samsungapps.una
World clock
Calendar clock
My files
Memo
depends on what apps you want to uninstall........
at max i don't see issues with uninstalling apps you don't want
There are a bunch of apps that i have no understanding of:
BadgeProvider
ChocoEUKor
com.sec.android.app.lcdtest
CoolEUKor
CP Message
DRM Content
English Dictionary
Factory Test
Helv Neue
LbsTestMode
OMACP
Pico TTS**
RoseEUKor

I never use tts so i dont want an extra service constantly running. But its been a problem to uninstall on my Milestone...
U removed apps only when with root permission right?
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
Yes, protected apps cant be removed without superuser permissions.
Titanium Backup will do it. There is a new "Chuck Norris Mode" that apparently can remove even more apps.
If only there was some kind of reference list like the win 7 services library that tells you which apps rely on which other apps...
Im wondering if CP Message might be the annoying TouchWiz settings in the taskbar... ControlPanel Message perhaps?
bump... because its on page 14
While this was a necessary evil on my Vibrant, I am at a loss as why this again necessary on the Tab. Especially considering it comes with much less bloat IMO. What benefits come from removing these? Performance and battery life are already very acceptable to me. Am I missing something?
so how exactly do you remove these after root? got lots of bloatware I'd wanna remove ! thanks !

While its sometimes obvious what the apk's are called for each app, can someone list the full apk's for these apps.
these are the exact names when using titanium to freeze apps... if you want to remove the apks you will have to use your head as its pretty self explanatory
by the way, i have since realised that there is no other dnla cliet for android apart from allshare, so ive resurrected drm and allshare to simplify connecting to my home media until we get cifs working on the tab
bump...
does anyone have a list in which is safe? What about the question about the app that weren't known, or these safe to remove?
my list was safe...
thanks! nice advice. i was wondering if there was any alternative to adnroid optimizer app as it cashes alot. so this helped me very much!

Would you happen to know how we can get the default ICS messaging, phone, contact, email and calendar applications instead of the Sony versions?

You could try to extract the apps from the CM9.0 rom .zip , paste them in the /system/apps directory and setting permissions to rw-r--r-- but I'm not sure since I haven't tried yet
I'll try that, Thanks.
EDIT: LOL I've caused boot loops. It worked for the calendar and Messaging applications, but replacing the phone, contacts, email and settings.apk has caused a bootloop lol.
Time to reflash..
Do you know how to remove the data disabled notification you get when you switch on the phone with data disabled? Thanks

POLARIS Office 5
I tried uninstalling a few apps that caused problems:
Code:
Calendar
Calendar Storage
Samsung Push Service
I don't like the default calendar app layout. I use aCalendar instead but it seems to need the default calendar apps. I restored the default calendar and storage apps with Titanium Backup and everything started working fine again.
I use File Manager (Explorer) instead of the MyFiles app, MX Player instead of the default Samsung video player, 1Weather instead of the default weather widget, and Kingsoft Office instead of POLARIS.
I'm still trying to find the package for the default picture viewer app so I can uninstall it. I use QuickPic instead.
I keep an eye on my CPU and memory stats with Elixir 2 and the widgets.
I got rid of startup apps with Startup Manager.
Recently I started using Greenify to keep apps from running in the background.
I use CPU Tuner to improve my battery life.
I installed AdAway from F-Droid to get rid of ads.
The performance and battery life are better on my phone than the day I got it. The CPU usage used to idle at over 30% when I watched it with Elixir 2 widgets. Now it idles at 5% - 15%. I gained a huge amount of RAM from uninstalling so many apps and using Startup Manager and Greenify. I used to hover around 300MB of free RAM, but now I have 700MB - 1.1GB most of the time. Every once in a while I run the 1 Tap Boost from Clean Master to get some of my RAM back, but not nearly as much as I needed to when I first got the phone.
Looking forward to hearing about other apps people uninstalled without causing problems.
Thanks! I did the same thing using the same sources you mentioned but I never had time to type out a big list. I too can say that most of these work. I froze everything you mention...did not uninstall. I have never heard of Elixer...I will have to check it out!
I did exactly that the second day I got my phone. there's no doubt about it ..uninstalling all of those apps results in an amazing transformation of battery life and performance for this phone. I'm quite surprised on how many bloatware apps was placed on this phone to begin with.... over 50!
most recommended that all follow and uninstall as much as you can your phone will be streamlined to the fullest.

Ant Radio and plugins can be reinstalled in Google Play, they are free apps to download. I agree, definitely remove if not needed, but why say no to an FM radio!

Root isn't necessary to freeze/disable apps (freeze and disable are the same commands)
This link here http://galaxys5guide.com/samsung-galaxy-s5-how-to-guides/turn-off-my-magazine-on-galaxy-s5/ explains how to disable the Magazine app from the Applications Settings menu in the phone and this can be done for any system app on the phone.
This was a feature put in place around 4.3(?) because system apps could not be uninstalled without root; only updates could be uninstalled. So they added a disable feature to keep it from running in the background and it removed it from your App Drawer.

Taught me something I didn't know. I went through and looked at a few crucial system apps and noticed "Turn Off" was greyed out on a few of them which I hadn't noticed before.
also add
you can also add smart remote, and internet/ chrome depending on what browser you like, to this list that can be completely removed... never understood why people would remove sprint zone when it is the easiest way to do things on your account. To each their own o guess... great list too as there are a few I missed on my debloating adventures.

If you are mostly stock then you need to download sdfix from the market. It is free. Or you can change the build.prop line yourself to write to sd with a file manager of your choice. Idk the build.prop line but you can google it and it will come up. I hope that is your issue and it helps.

the ANT app is actually usefull
for those of us that like to bike/run/hoke or other physical activity in which we monitor our performance or heart rate, ANT radio is a big part of that.
http://www.thisisant.com/directory/ant-radio-service
Might want to investigate this site before removing completely as it uses hardware already on your phone, after all whats the point in getting the phone with all this stuff in it, if you just not going to use it.

Honestly im not sure I can say without consequence. Sometime after I removed a bunch of these apps, I have had some issues with my phone. the screen blacks out while the buttons work. took it to a sprint store finally and they think its 'software related' but didnt really help beyond that.i am still investigating though as it could have been something else too potentially (but i havent really installed much on this phone to begin with outside of root).
i have rooted my GS5 and installed SuperSU and ConnectBot.
I would like to remove much of this bloatware and the automatic updating of certain apps.
I have no idea how to proceed with uninstalling, any help would be appreciated.

You can gain some hundred megabytes of free space by removing this apps from the system.
Gmail (2 mail apps are unnecessary)
Google+ (how the hell uses G+ anyways)
Google Play Books
Google Play Games
Google Play Kiosk
Google Play Movies
Zinio (some random magazine app)
Amazon Kindle (good reader app, but way to huge for a system app ~100MB)
Omlet Chat
Bbbler Actors for Omlet (comes with latest OTA update)
Flipboard
Facebook (need it? install it as a user app. needs too much space)
Maps (i personally think Google Maps on this device is completely useless)
Street View
Chrome Browser (reinstall as user app if you use it, another app which eats up space in the rom)
EMusic
Contacts (why is this app actually installed?)
Gallery (default image viewer)
MyASUS (classic bloatware app)
RemoteLink
ShareLink
Mirror (uses front camera for a mirror)
WebStorage
What's Next
Google Drive
=== Safe to disable (remove at your own risk) ===
The following list contains background processes and services which are safe to disable.
CMService & DMService* (get rid of OTA update notifications and reduce network usage)
Bubbles (if you don't care about live wallpapers disable it)
PlayTo* (never tried this out, maybe to transfer video?)
EnergySaver*
DLNA Service*
* confirmed save to remove
CAUTION: always make a backup before you remove a app in case you want to restore it later not all apps are available on the play store!
I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BREAK ANYTHING OR END UP BOOTLOOPING! REMOVE AND/OR DISABLE APPS AND SERVICES AT YOUR OWN RISK AND DON'T BLAME ME IF ANYTHING STOPS WORKING! I TESTEST EVERY APP/SERVICE BY MYSELF AND IT WORKED FOR ME!

Asus Launcher
Asus Demo
No issues so far...if they come i'll post it here...
everything works well instead of asus launcher i use go launcher.
as i read the asus demo app installs the flashplayer and removes itself after entering the password no need to do that for me couse i use mxplayer and codecs.
Don't delete Asus launcher If you don't have any launcher installed and currently in use, it'll throw your device in to boot loop.
But Asus Demo is safe to delete.
I have the Lollipop .33 version as far as I tried if any app associated with quick settings is deleted, you can't go to Asus Customize settings and change the apps order anymore.
When you press Quick settings options it'll throw you an "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped." error. But apart from that it doesn't effect the system stability.
The .24 doesn't have this problem.
My suggestion is when you have a freshly and fully installed Lollipop .33 and want to delete some apps like Splendid, go to Asus cuatomize settings and change them to your liking first. Then you can safely delete system apps.

(I don't know if this thread is still aktualized and confirmed by the OP.
But i will post every deletion i make in the future here and report if there
are any issues.Just to be safe:If you decide to remove/freeze System
App's make a Nandroid Backup of your System or at least a backup of the
removed system app's.I use the titanium backup app to make backup's of
system files,so if something went's wrong you can restore your system.)
