[N910C] NFC SIM problem - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Recently I changed my standard SIM card for an NFC enabled SIM card. After the change I started to notice some strange behaviour of the phone during boot. As long as the NFC function of the system is enabled the phone reboots normally and I am presented with a standard prompt to enter my SIM's PIN number. However when I disable NFC and reboot or turn off the phone and boot it up again the SIM is not visible in the system as if it was not connected. If I enable NFC function shortly after such reboot the SIM starts to be visible and I am presented with the PIN prompt.
I am on stock 5.0.1. Any non NFC enabled SIM card works without issues in my phone. The NFC enabled SIM works in other phones without issues. NFC function works without problems even the payment card placed on the NFC SIM is operational. It seams this is a software issue not a hardware one.
Anybody have any idea what can be the cause of this behaviour?

why would you want to use nfc enabled sim? what do you use it for? the phone already has nfc, maybe the sim is not compatible?

NFC enabled SIM is used as a secure element. It is holding my payment card info. It does not replace NFC radio of the phone. Other than that it is a standard SIM offered by many operators.

g1 sim trouble -

Hi,
i have a new g1 phone, which was unlocked last week. everything worked for a short while, but suddenly i've received a "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network" error message, and couldn't find a network anymore.
i've tried to hard-reset, but since then it doesn't recognizes my sim card (or any other sim card). i just get a 'no sim card in phone' message.
what can i do?
thanks!
tal
Go to your carrier's nearest store and get a new SIM card?
The first step might be to remove and CLEAN your simcard.
If that doesn't work, concentrate on REPLACING the simcard.
well, i've already tried 3 different sim cards, none of which were recognized by the G1, so i'm assuming this isn't caused by the card itself. right?
Settings -> Security & location -> Set up SIM card lock -> disable then re-enable Lock SIM card.
That should fix it.
I am also having this problem with my G1; I have no service on any of the sim cards i have tested.
When searching for networks it happily finds them all, but will not connect.
I tried the tip mentioned above with no luck.
If anyone knows the solution that would be fantastic!

Streak / SIM problem

My screen broke and i got a replacement from Dell. But after inserting my SIM and SD card the device boots but does not ask for the pin code of the SIM. I'm not able to call and above the screen no provider is visible. It does recognize my sim because the sim manager knows it's a vodaphone sim. But all the relevant settings in the menu are grey and at some places the message 'network or sim error' appears. If i put my sim in my iphone, it's working fine.
Any idea's, please?
Problem solved. I connected my streak to wifi and it said that an update to Android 2.2 was available. After downloading and installing the problem was solved.

[Q]Do not operate simultaneously 3g and Wi-Fi Acer A501

Need some help.
When installing the SIM card of Kazakh operators no longer connect to Wi-Fi. Why is this a problem? Only hard reset helps.
Because you cannot access multiple data connections at once. Even phones do this. If you go to wifi, 3G gets disabled.
If turn off 3g or remove the SIM card, Wi-Fi does not work anymore. Helps only hard-reset

When wifi don't work anymore, does it show enabled or disabled and are you able to change it to enable.
if it is enabled, disable reboot, then enable and reboot.
if it is enabled..? will it disable or uncheck..?
Wi-Fi enabled, and after a reboot is enabled, but when installing SIM card will no longer see Wi-Fi network.
At Motorola Atrix is solved by some script blocking line settings.db wifi_country_code US.
Anybody can do this for the A501?
Normal behaviour on my A501 is this:
When I switch WiFi on 3G automatically disables, when I switch WiFi off 3G enables again.
Are you running a custom ROM? if not, and you're still on stock you might have either a problem with your SIM card or a hardware issue.
Have you tried someone elses SIM in your Iconia?
Wait... You're not trying to insert the SIM with the device turned ON, are you?
Silverblade.nz, I tried the stock firmware and taboonai and from fguy. Set 3 SIM cards from different operators.
FloatingFatMan, Yes, i insert the SIM with the device turned ON. Tablet requested reboot. After rebooting, sees only the 3d
Somewhere on the internet i read that if insert a sim anoher country, wi-fi is enabled again. but i dont have sim another country (

Bad idea. There's a REALLY good reason why almost all phones have the SIM socket under the battery, to stop you inserting your SIM with the device powered on. Try turning your tablet OFF before inserting the SIM.
This method does not work. I think the problem in a wireless network driver.
No solution? I have the same problem

I have to agree.
The operating instructions, specify, DO NOT INSERT SIM CARD when the tab is operating.
This will probably destroy the sim. I hope not the data recepticle.
At this point, I have to ask, are you rooted an running a custom ROM? Or is this a factory ROM?
Your tablet, is not different from mine (I live in moscow), and the Beeline or MTS network, should switch between 3g Sim data and wifi automatically.
I would do a factory reset (if you have a stock factory rom). Insert sim and sd card with the tablet off. Reboot.
Iconia A501
Same problem with my tablet both for 3.0.1 and 3.2. None of above help except factory reset which is painful.
Anyone found a workaround???

Again, do not insert a Sim card, with the tablet running.
I would do this, under a fresh 3.2 install.
With tab off, insert sim card. Reboot. You should have 2/3g access.
Then, do your factory reset. DO NOT REMOVE THE SIM. Leave it there.
After you are running, if you need to, Enable your Wifi and do your update to 3.2.
Honestly, nobody is having this issue, except for people from your region/country. This tells me, it is something to do with either your Network provider, or Wifi settings in your region.
It is impossible for us to fix this issue, as we do not live there.
Who is your Network (sim) provider?

[Q] "Insert SIM card to access network services" following 4.4.2 install

Following an Odin upgrade on my i9505 to the official 4.4.2 release my S4 was working fine but, when I rebooted later, mobile data was disabled and when I tried to enable it a message appeared saying “Insert SIM card to access network services”. I rebooted several times and finally I was able to access mobile data without the message appearing.
My SIM card is locked with a PIN and I noticed during the multiple reboots that when the phone first boots up to the SIM unlock screen up it was showing a phone signal, and when I entered the PIN the phone signal disappeared briefly and then came back. I figured this might be the point that 4G is lost, so after I managed to get mobile data working again after a reboot I was able to disable the SIM lock (when I lost mobile data the SIM lock option in security settings was greyed out). Since I've disabled the SIM lock I've booted multiple times without issue. When I re-enabled the SIM lock the problem came back straight away.
Can anyone suggest what the problem might be, and how I can re-enable my SIM lock without losing 3/4G connectivity after most boots.
TIA
samsung s4 9505
samsung s4 i9505
my 3g is not working
no issues with wifi
what could be the problem
2g is working fine(GSM Only)
i am on kot49h rom
I'm having the same problem! I've disabled SIM Card Lock, will let you know how I get on.
Same here
unbranded i9505 using on EE 4GEE
updated and soon after lost mobile data - tried reset & new sim card - nothing. EE are now fully blaming the update and pointing Samsung and HTC customer to manufacturers.
After changing sim it seemed to be ok for a while but now comes and goes. What i have noticed is that my phone will be fine until a restart/power down and sometimes flight mode will fix. Original sim was normal micro sim new is NFC micro sim just for info
this is such BS and samsung are dragging the heels with a fix.
Hmm. I'm with EE 4G as well. I have found that with the SIM security PIN disabled it's more or less OK the majority of the time.
Sorry forgot to mention this was a OTA update
Also noticed that phone will not connect to kies correctly and show phone number as all zero when is connected
can anyone else confirm that?

Is there a way to enable 2 sim card tray on any s8?

Hi Everyone, my research found that I can insert 2 Sims in any s8 but only on some market the 2nd tray is enabled. Seems that in Germany it is not.
Is there a way in how to unlock it? And use a normal s8 with dual sim and best would be still get OTA updates
The second tray for micro sd card I guess. Not for the SIM card.
No the tray allows to put in a sim also if you flip it 9. Degree
Also the duos version seem to contain the same hardware and same tray but work with dual sim so I guess it's only software deactivated
You need a second imei which only comes with the fd versions.
