So when can we expect it for the Verizon Note Edge... it looks Amazing on my note 4 the new features that is !!
Next year. No root and no update is killing me

It's one thing to block root, but this is complete bs that they can legally hold back lollipop.... not mentioning the cool additional features, but the known exploits alone they should have to push lollipop. I hate Verizon, I wish they would steal my unlimited data to give me a reason to jump ship

it's crazy that virtually every other Samsung phone prior to the Note Edge has been granted Lollipop. I just helped a friend of mine with her S4 update yesterday. (a little insulted that she had no idea what she was doing and here my phone is, all wonderful and beautiful but left out lol.) Thankfully I still have both my Note 4 and my S5 so I can switch out at anytime.
I have heard that one of the reasons big red is always slow on updates is for quality control, bugs, etc. Making sure that it's absolutely perfect before rolling it out. But when you go and see that the S5 was first to get Lollipop for the Verizon devices, it makes you think otherwise.

Once I find a buyer for my. I am totally done with samdong. Worst freaking phone I have ever bought..
You guys act surprised. For years anyone on VZW knows we get locked bootloaders and updates are about 6 months to a year behind all other carriers. This should not be a shock to anyone. The Edge is very similar to the Note 4 and if they are rolling out 5.0.1 to the 4, I suspect the edge will be right behind it. At the end of the day, I stay with VZW because they have the best network where I need it.

You can't as of now !!
The title of this thread is misleading
no biggy ...
The Verizon Edge came out some time after the Verizon Note 4, so Lollipop will probably come out that much time later. No big deal.
On another note, I've been shouting this to every end of the Internet, but there is a serious problem with the so-called "Lollipop" update that Samsung has provided to just about all NON-S6/Edge devices, and that is the lack of KEY FEATURES like app pinning and multi-user accounts. HTC, LG and Motorola have provided these features with their Lollipop updates, and they are stock Android Lollipop features. But Samsung as they too-often do, is holding them back from all devices except the Tab S (which is older than the Note 4/Edge) and the S6, and it's pissed me off to no end. There are PLENTY of Samsung features that I'd love to get on my Note 4 and Edge that the S6 has, like themes for example. But I understand that that is a Samsung feature, and so Samsung certainly is within their rights to withhold it to promote the S6. That I get. Those are proprietary Samsung features. But Google Android features, no. They should not be able to keep those from us just for the sake of promoting their S6 when Lollipop supports it out of the box. My Nexus 6 has them and it's the same age as the Note 4. So I don't understand it.
It is very, very, very shady, especially in light of how locked-down their devices are becoming.
That said, some developers are working very hard to get root for the locked-down versions of the Note 4 and Edge, so we have to support their hard work! Keep up the good work, and make sure to press Samsung hard on the shady things they do.
If I knew of a way to let Google know that OEMs shouldn't be stock holding Google features back just for the sake of promoting new devices, I'd do it. Any suggestions would be useful. A petition? I dunno.
Hang in there folks!

As always samsung uses to upgrade devices that is not too popular in 6-7 mounths after the AOSP release.
Lollipop was announced for Note 2, Note 3 and Galaxy S4 by Samsung Finland.
I have hopes we will get Lollipop, at least I'm praying
Sadly I have lost all faith in Samsung and will not purchase another of their products. I realize it's sacrilege around here but I bought myself an Ipad air 2 for Christmas. Being that I'm keeping the note 10.1 (2014) I'll have a good comparison between the two items.

I agree but there is no other android tablet with s pen in that size and prize range.... next best thing is ms surface but that's something else completely.
The thing is, I use the pen for alot of stuff (drawing plans to rearrange our flat for example ) and alot of friends and family are totally intrigued by it. I can't imagine buying a tablet without pen after this... its a must have feature once you're used to it. Sadly there is no real competition...
Nevertheless I'm almost sure there will be a lollipop update for it reasonably soon (2-3 months). Unless samsung releases a note 10.1 2015 in the next 2-3 months then the update could be even later. But remember even the original note 10.1 got updated to KitKat!
It'll probably never happen...
So sick and tired of samsungs crap support. I am also sick of my Note 10.1 2014 just being "good enough" to get tasks done. I only use lecture notes for this tablet to annotate pdfs. With no lollipop in sight, I'm buying a surface pro 3 at the beginning of next semester to replace this tablet and my ultrabook. If i get real desperate for android, I'll use Console OS. Peace out sammy, if you have no interest in supporting your products, neither do I...

I thought it worth to let you all know that I am using Lollipop on a Samsung Note 2014 10.1(SM-P600) wifi only.
There is a thread on the android original development forum by RaymanFX. Its Cyanogenmod 12 which means its Touchwiz free and KNOX fuse is tripped.
More importantly however its miles ahead of KitKat- touchwiz in terms of responsivenes, snappines and fluidity.
There also is this article http://www.xda-developers.com/android/analysis-of-the-galaxy-note-3-android-5-0-leak/ and if all is well and truly as remarkable with Touchwiz- Lollipop then I would love to see this ported somehow to Samsung Note 2014 10.1(SM-P600) wifi and sister/brother models.
Adding all Apps from Samsung Note Pro 12.2 to such a port would be like phenomenal! I have donated before and would donate again on a project like that.
:good:
This tablet will be updated but it's going to be awhile so relax and enjoy life until then.

If you bought a Samsung tablet and expected much more than 1 update, you're a fool. It's a trade off for superior functionality over the more-update Nexus tablets.

I have a Nexus 7 (the first edition). It received the Lollipop update last year and since then is almost useless due to lags and sluggishness. I also got the most recent update (L 5.02) which they claim it fixes N7 lags, but I did not see any improvement. Everything is slow, browsing is slow, booting takes minutes.
With this experience, I have no rush to update my Samsung tablets to Lollipop
Samsung should think about why their sales are going down... l hope this powerful device will get Lolipop but if not I think Samsung will loose aanother buyeri...
Poslano s tableta (tapatalk)
I guess I'm the only one still happy with my Note 10.1 2k14 edition. I'm running a custom ROM. I use the handwriting and s-pen functions quite a lot and don't imagine that I would be happy without those functions. My tablet still functions fine and is nice and responsive (not as fast as my Note 4, but also not as new). I'm really in no hurry for Lollipop on my device. KitKat runs fast and is stable for me.
It's time for Samsung to wake up. This is a modern world. We pay premiums prices for top-rated Samsung phones and tablets, and expect regular updates. We dont need to beg for the updates. The computing world changes rapidly, and samsung should follow suit. It's becoming clearer that Samsung cannot keep up with Google releasing free updates to free android softwares. It's becoming clearer that Samsung Tizen software will eventually be a useless OS.
Just out of curiosity . . Why is getting lollipop so important that people are willing to sell their tablets in shear outrage?
I've got it on my note 3 and in terms of functionality there is very little difference . . .

Someone should start a thread "I will never again buy Samsung" If they see how many ppl are not happy with support of high-end products and selling pop-crap Galaxy S line, maybe they finally wake up!
Is it because when we get it our battery problems will be solved and battery life will beat note 5... Strange that full price unlocked phones still no updates but usa carriers have. Disgraceful really... One thing I really like about the iPhone upgrades are fast and for every model with support for older models at least 2 or three years
Santa will bring it.
I agree with you that Samsung are holding 5.1.1 for Note 4 and that's probably not to fix bugs but more likely because they want Note 4 users move to Note 5.
But I don't think Apple is the best example when it comes to updates. They usually release updates that have performances or battery life problem on older iphone's models and only newer models (or the one from the year before) can access to all fonctionalities.

Shouldn't be too much work, but I doubt it would be worth it considering the official update could come any day now. Also Sprint and T-Mobile released the updates, not Samsung, so Samsung could still be holding back the firmware for international Note 4 customers. There's just nothing we can do right now, other than to wait for the update to drop. I'm going to guess we'll see it the same time the Note 5/S6/S6 Edge/S6 Edge Plus (how many top tier phones does one company really need?) gets updates to Android Marshmellow (which is running awesome btw on my Nexus 5).

Sammy have screwed things up with lollipop on the sd variants. To get it to boot you need the modem files from the same base. This means to get 5.1.1 tmob booted we'd need the tmob modem. Trust me I've tried every thing I can think of to get either the tmob or sprint releases to boot but no luck

I don't think Samsung is holding back updates because of their selling policy. The usual customer doesn't know abou it. We on xda are keeping an eye on the updates, but we are probably just 1% and that isn't significant.

That is a valid argument, but most regular people at the store normally go for the phone with the newer android version, so even for regular Joes it matters.

I don't know...I'm just saying that my family is just buying the newer phones and they don't know what android version they are getting. I recently got my brothers note3 to use and he didn't update at all since he buyed it. And I think he's an avarage user.
The android versions are confusing for the avarage user, not like iOS. Google and Samsung and other manufacturers don't make such big deals of the updates like Apple does.
We've been waiting far too long for 5.1.1, I must say. Samsung truly have taken their time.
I've had the S2, S3 and S4, and never waited this long for updates.
I am loving my Note 4 more than any other Samsung...heck any phone in general I've owned, that is including more than my 1st smartphone, the Nokia N80, which I absolutely adored. Yet I can't help but feel Samsung is letting down what has to be their greatest smartphone in recent times with slow updates, its such a shame really.

Never waited this long for updates? Seriously, seems like you never owned a Galaxy Note N7000. More than 8 months waiting for the Jelly Bean 4.1.2 update and one year for Carrier Updates. The best treated Note was the Galaxy Note 2, which recived JB 4.2.2, 4.3, 4.4 Kitkat and even Lollipop was planned for it. But yes, now that the Note 5 is released, we need to wait a couple of months to see a big update for our Note 4. I'm pretty sure that Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be the last one, sadly, knowing Samsung and their update policy.
It is very simple. They delay 5.1.1 because of Note 5. They want customer have more reasons to upgrade, to buy their new phone. And if they do like 5.0.1, just upgrade OS core, no more features like on S6, Note 4 user will be disappointed with them. Many user want removable battery, better battery life option, sd card support so they will not upgrade soon!

You are right, this is the truth.
I will keep my Note 4 (KitKat 4.4.4), I downgrade from 5.0.1 because of bugs and I will not update my Note 4 to any new firmware unless it will be bug free as much as the 4.4.4 firmware.
that will lead me to change my mind regarding what is next after Note 4 (My next smartphone) ?!!!
I will think twice before buying something from Samsung, specially after using glass for building their smartphones.
is there any chances to get marshmallow update for Note 3 (Snapdragon)
No one knows. But let the Note 5 selling start, and within a month of that Samsung will announce whether to update our device or not, that is if Note 5 doesn't sell well they will be angry (like anyone cares about that after releasing a phone like Note 5) and will say no, no Marshmallow for Note 3. But if Note 5 sells well then they will give us the update. I am positive about the update though.
Probably we may get an unofficial version.

The latest galaxy range of the s6 and the note 5 are the 'disappointment devices' .... I recon peoplewont buy them because of the important features they took out like Micro Sd slot...removable battery and the phone being made from pure glass and metal theyr basing it more on iphones... I want to buy a note 3 now because it is a great device, screen size and resolution, battery life, etc... But I want to know if CM or and other custom rom will be available for marshmallow. The hardware should be able to handle it, right?
More likely there won't be an official Marshmellow update, because Note 3 is already old, despite the hardware being more than enough to handle it. It's not a hardware limitation but rather Samsung pulling to plug, plus, by now if you are carrier locked, no carrier will push an update for a phone which is over 24 months old.
Probably we will see a Marshmellow update, but it'll be unofficial. If you ask me, that's more than enough.

Actually the Galaxy Nexus did not come up on the ATT forum thread. It was pointed out that the Note 3 and the S4 (unlike the S5 and newer) would never see 5.1.1 . I was hoping to get better battery life with the 5.1.1 upgrade. I actually ordered the Nexus 6P twice then cancelled the order twice but I am definitely attracted to the idea of fast updates and long-lasting eligibility for upgrades offered by owning a Nexus device.

It seems like they are not interested in doing such thing yet, as far now the Samsung has issued a roadmap of the devices receiving or expected to receive Marshmallow update in near future and unfortunately Our beloved Galaxy Note 3 is not in the list. See this http://www.gsmarena.com/alleged_samsung_marshmallow_update_roadmap_leaks-news-15023.php
The Note 3 has been sunseted. Meaning no more updates. They were never going to release any updates above 5.0. on the Note 3.
The sad thing is because of this, I am done with buying another Samsung phone or tablet!
I just read they have sent 5.0 out to the note 3. You can also manually download and install through odin.

I wonder if the note 5 will receive more updates to hide the disaster existence of the Note 7, it's very sad I'll be patient and wait for the Note 8 ????
This is what they get for skipping the note 6 name. My guess the next "note" will have a different name. One that will not include the word "note". If they were smart they would go back to a flat screen too.

They didn't know they were going to have any battery issues with the release of the phone so they skipped 6. Pretty sure after all these events they regret doing so. Hopefully Samsung makes something good to cover up all this mess with the note 7.
Why would they want to update the Note 5? It's a 2015 phone! They will focus on the current GS7/GS7 EDGE line until a new Note or S8 arrives. They want to keep loyal users by forcing them to buy newer devices, not by updating older ones. I don't judge them, I'll probably one of those first "loyal users" preordering the next Samsung flagship the next year and hoping that it will not explode before I took it out of the box...
+I am very sorry for Samsung, I like them,
But, it will be nice to also to discontinue new ui grace (I know my opinion is in deep minority).
For me old classic ui was far better (on s5 even better and more things in settings, just too much bloatware- but this is not connected).
This new one is closing to ios unfortunately- less and less customization.
More unfortunately all roms now are n7 ports- great pure n5 roms all discontinued...
So would the note 5 get more software love from Samsung now that note 7 is gone??? I really want that grace UX on my note 5. Might as well stick to it till better version of note 5 comes out..
I don't wanna get s7 edge. Don't seem like good enough jump

I personally think that in a situation like this the FCC sound have tested the replacement phones before they were allowed to replace them and this time test them right.
"Samsung" is POS.
I predict the Note 8 will launch with the S8. Either that or there will be a dual release of the S8 with a rebranded Note.
Now is the time for a rival company like Sony, HTC or even Huawei to jump in.

because the note series is a series of its own with the s pen. i totally agree prompt updates the the note 5 should come seeing how it is currently the latest note device now

In an optimistic and ideal world, yes. The Note 5 is the "lastest" Note device and they should give it all the updates Note 7 should had until a new one arrives. But it's Samsung. They're already promoting the S7 as a Note 7 replacement, and letting the Note 5 out in the cold. They will not update the Note 5, they'll focus on a newer Note iteration (or a revised Note7) and bring all the support on those devices. I'm a proud Note 5 owner, I'd love to see newer updates for it, but i'm pretty sure that Samsung will not give us more support than what we actually have. S7 users? Probably they'll have additional months of support, but us? I'm not sure.
I agree with galaxynote2. Samsung will forget of all the pervious note devices and focus on relaunching another note 7 replacement. I have to hand it to Samsung though. I had version 1 and version 2 of the note 7 for about 45days or so and I have to admit it they really hit the nail on the head with this one. I was the best device Samsung ever made. It's too bad it was plagued with battery issues. I love using my note 5 but I sure do miss the note 7. Sorry for getting off topic. Lol just wanted to share a bit of my experience.

Sorry for my bad english I'm from Germany I think if the Note5 will get more updates because the Note7 was a catastrophe, the S6 will get more updates either because the Note 5 is basically the Note version from the S6. But it's a little bit unrealistic haha what do you think ?
If Samsung is smart, they will put all their resources into figuring out what exactly went wrong with the Note7. Remember, they haven't been able to replicate the issue at all, which leads me to believe that it's not a battery issue alone.
The name "Note" is dead, but not the phone. It'll come back rebranded as something else.
