Hi everyone,
My gf got me a phone as a gift and the weird part it was rooted so i didnt say anything but lately i found out she know alot of things and its like shes reading and knowing everything happening on my phone.. I did factory reset to my phone without backup but yet she still know i have no idea HOW. I found a program called system app working and ruining consuming high amount of data but i cant get rid of it and i have no idea what kind of software im having.
How comes its not possible to remove it when you make factory reset and how can i get rid of it?
Any help feedback i would be appreciate it.
Thank you,
You can download the official firmware from Sammobile and install it via Odin, that should fix it.
You also can install different Rom or delete the app with Titanium Backup, but in this case, I would go with the Odin method.
Can you post a screenshot
If you factory reset, ideally all user installed apps, which would include the monitoring app/service would be gone...the phone would stoll be rooted, but without a root access manager lije supersu, root would be useless for that app

brilliant get rid of here and get a new phone lol
Try to hard reset via stock recovery.
Shutdown your phone
Hold power+volum up+Home button.
After reset you should change your Google i.d or password. May be she know your pass and watching through Google+ or playstore .
If she install the spy software as system (because of root) hard resetting will not get rid of it. Only flashing an original Samsung rom via Odin will do it. Then change passwords of all your accounts (Google and Samsung) then only change GF...

Lolz then must be.

Hi there, new guy here. Last week I bought an evo from a guy and that same guy flashed over the evo to metro for me. So just like a lot of people here I am having some problems and I'm also looking for some advice.
First of all I don't know what rom he used... I know that I have superuser on the phone. The version of phone I have I believe I have is 2.2 (?)
Is superuser a flash, root, or rom? How would I find out which root I have? He didn't mention it to me. All he said was don't download any apps that require "superuser permissions"
Here is what is working-sms, youtube app, wifi, internet w/ and w/o wifi, market, email, gmail and yahoo, receive photos
And here is what is not - voicemail notification, mms, can't send photos, gps forces the phone to reset many times, so navigator/ maps causes reset. Not to mention that the phone will reset several times throughout every other day. Also getting the data error.
Called the guy and he said that he would reflash the evo for free this time. He also suggested doing a factory reset, that might fix the constant resetting I am having. I read online that some task manager apps can cause the phone to reset when gps is on.
Any help in all of the above is appreciated. Should I have him reflash it? Should I attempt this myself? Not knowing what rom I have right now is the hardest part for me right now.
Again thanks for the help.
ROM info is in the settings/about phone/software
To factory reset: settings/sd & phone storage
Superuser just let you give an app permission to access root or block it.
I would do the factory reset if your having reboots. More ROM info would probably help us out with your problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=795182
Im not 100% sure of.metro.pcs hack or wtv that they do for the Evo but that rom.has everything working download the metrodroid (latest version ) , put it in your sd card , go to recovery mode and wipe , data, dalvik, cache (this will erase all your data ) and then go to.choose flash zip, look for the zip flash and hopefully the works, root ia only one it should be fully root to run it in metro pcs and I recommend you to read different topics about what root is, have fun

ok thank you. I just did what you stated and found out that my rom is bugless beast to0Mod V0.1
Any other info is appreciated, I am thinking about installing the metrodroid rom like jgalan suggested however I am plum terrified about bricking my phone. As I have never done anything like this on a phone. Only xboxs etc.
Does anyone out there know about this romthat I have If it's truly V0.1 I'm assuming its hellllla old, but I dunno. Thanks again for all of the input.
One last question how full proof is the metrodroid rom? I was doing some reading about people still having issue with stuff that I already have working currently (sms, web etc). I just don't want to open another can of worms if I can avoid it. Thanks again.
Hi guys,
I recently side loaded kit kat 4.4.2 and I have 100% completely stock no rooting or anything. Everything is NAE I have been noticing that my phone turns off spontaneously and the only way to turn it back on is to take out the battery. I also have noticed that my phone becomes very hot and loses its battery very quickly.
i was told from another user to do a factory reset which I plan to. I wanted to back up my files before i do that but after i install kies with this version"* Supported model : Feature phone, Smart Phone/Tablet before Galaxy Note III
(including Galaxy S4, Note II, etc)" from Samsung.
My Windows 7 64 bit cannot install the MTP driver and then Kies says to install Kies 3 because it is unsupported to the current version.
Does anyone know how to back up the whole phone like Apple's Itunes back up or know of any other solution to my problem?
This has really put me off of Android..
I've never used Kies for anything so I can't help you there, what are you trying to backup? If your going to backup the whole phone, factory reset, and then restore your phone then your problem will just return. How long have you had your phone? If you've never rooted then it may be a hardware problem. I have great battery life after updating to 4.4.2. You should be able to find an app in the play store that can back up your data without root. All of your apps and contacts are backed up by google. I believe there are apps that will backup your texts and call logs without root. You are better off letting the play store reinstall your apps after a factory reset so the problem doesn't return.

I don't think its a hardware problem since this problem began after I updated to kit kat. Also, what is the best way to do a factory reset? is there a difference between a soft and hard factory reset?
Thanks

Best way is through recovery, power off phone, then hold the volume up button and power at the same time until you see the blue text in the upper left corner. Select factory reset. You should pull your sdcard first because I can't remember if the stock recovery wipes the external sdcard.

Thanks! I will try to back up everything and then do a factory reset. Hopefully it will solve my problem
My brother just had the same problem, screen wouldn't come on, got very hot. Factory reset fixed it. Not sure about the backup as he didn't do one(all the apps he uses are cloud saved) but just confirming you doing the right thing doing a factory reset. Usually fixes everything lol

i dont backup my sms. but i know there are alot on the google play store. just search "SMS Backup" find one with nice reviews
you might need to copy it to your PC hard drive as i think a factory restore clears the internal storage and most apps dont have access anymore to the SD card as Google is trying to kill it
Hi all
I've upgraded from S4 to s5 today
Bought a refurbished s5 unlocked from eBay (reputable seller)
Rather stupidly I didn't restore factory settings as I assumed seller would (they sell multiple phones so I'm assuming they know what they are doing!!)
Downloaded and updated all my apps and data already.
Then I've gone into settings and notice it says status is "custom". So I get message about custom software and updates won't work etc
I'm not quite sure why this would be the case?
I'm assuming they dont need to root to unlock the phone if it wasn't unlocked already?
Even if they had to root why would they install a custom rom? ?
2 questions:
1) I'm assuming I just need to download stock from sammobile and install using odin????
2) is there anything to worry about/check after buying a refurbished s5? Fingerprint works etc so I'm confident it's a real Samsung phone!
Just a couple of weird things like there is an app in the application manager called Baby crying monitor but there is no app anywhere I can find????!!!!
Any help appreciated.
Make sure cache is not set to "Art". This will cause same issue.

Sorry, not sure what you mean by that? How do I check cashe isn't set to art?
2 other bits got me wondering..
There is knox mentioned in the application manager but there is no app for it (like this crying baby app thing)
also when I try to uninstall apps or try to stop "restarting" apps in "clean master" it says something about needing access and shows a screen shot of SU. Basically telling me I need root access with SU to able to perform those tasks.
Before I rooted my S4 I'm sure I didn't need root to uninstall programs through clean master? ??
I might be wrong but it maybe that a previous owner has rooted the phone and the root has been removed but a full reset not been done?
I dunno. It just feels a bit weird.!!!
As I am "Far from a Jedi", you could try using "phone info samsung". It is on the google play store. Will give you info about your phone to check.
Failing that, I would suggest a factory reset to return to a known starting point.
I know it will involve setting up your phone again, at least you will know for certain.
Hope this helps...

Have you thought about contacting the seller and saying I want a different phone or money off as this shows custom, has Knox flag been tripped in the download menu? From power off hold vol down + power + home.
Thanks to all replies!
So a factory reset has got it cleaned up.
I've used the app mentioned in previous post and everything is legit.
Knox is at 0.0
It still says Custom though but considering everything is legit I'm not too fussed
Would like to know why it says custom though!!???
Unrelated question (didn't want to hog posts by creating a new one....)
I've been using clean master on my s4 and I was using between 35-50% of ram.
On my s5 I'm running consistantly at a lot higher ram I'm having to boost frequently during the day
Is it because the s5 just uses more ram or is it related to the fact I was rooted on the s4 and debloated a tonne of c**p? ????
(The ram is well over 1gb most of the time. Even when I boost it only goes to about 50%)
I don't get lag or slowness but as a bit OCD I want lower!!!)
Any ideas why it's so high?
Its normal, IDK why. I'm running AICP and even I've never seen my ram usage dip below 1.2GB, it was 1.4GB on the Sammy rom.
Annoyingly I've now reinstalled all apps and folder etc (after factory reset)to find out that certain apps won't work because it says my phone is rooted.
Is my only option now to try reinstall software through kies ??

Hi all
First I'd like to apologise if this thread already exists but so far I cannot find anything (please link me it if it does)(this is my first post as well)
I bought the phone a couple of weeks back. The phone had Android 6.0 marshmallow on it out of the box. The phone has been working perfectly up until today. This Morning i got a notification to say there was a new security update available. I downloaded the update (6mb) and installed it. I went off to work and when i took the phone out of my pocket it was rebooting. I waited for it to boot and after about 20 seconds of using the phone it became unresponsive, i.e. the screen froze, and a couple of seconds later the phone restarted. The phone rebooted constantly throughout the day when I tried to use it. When I got home I searched online for help but didn't find anything, although a factory reset can solve a lot of problems and so that's what I did. I setup the phone as a new phone but after about mins it froze and rebooted again. I have just turned the phone off and I am using a spare atm. I am considering a re flash of the software, however if any of you have had the same problem and have had an easy fix, please let me know. Any help is appreciated
Regards
TechGuy
It is odd that even after a factory reset it did this. Maybe try another factory reset and put your Google account on the phone but not any of the apps from Google restore. This will tell you if an app that you have installed is clashing with the new security patch or if the phones software is the culprit.

@TechGuy82 ... Go to the "General" thread (if you haven't already) the whole matter of installing the update is being thrashed out there.
Yeah check out the thread in general... Also just wanted to confirm that I'm having the exact same problem you are and have tried factory reset with the same results. I'm currently attempting a complete software flash with the CLARK_RETUS_6.0_MPH24.49-18_cid9_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip using the flash all bat

After the factory reset, the phone is rebooting before i can even set it up.
Same issue. I even rerooted and flashed a different rom and it will do it. going to try flashing back to stock before the update and see what happens.
I have the notice for this update - I am not rooted nor have I installed TWRP (I'd like to, eventually)
What I do need to know:
I don't use the phone like most do - services except for buying apps are not necessary. I have downloaded and paid for large data base nature and astronomy apps which a dumb phone won't run. I like speed on the phone so a program opens faster.
Given that - I have disabled 95% of the social type apps on the phone. I've disabled all the extras from Motorola. I don't use, want or need them. What will happen if I apply this update? I
1. Will it refuse to run if something is disabled?
2. Will it override disable and open whatever it thinks it needs?
3. Will it just install where it needs to?
4. Will it bugger the phone?
I just read through what's in Google services and I don't seem to need that. The only thing would be verification of a bought app from Play Store. I disabled Maps, Location, Hangouts, Photos -- There's better paid apps in Play Store and that's why I need to be sure that Play Services doesn't do the checks to see if you bought the app.
I like the feel of this phone, the performance and I love the camera. I just want to use it my way. If I could carry all my reference books with me, I'd use a feature phone. I like to take nature walks and birdwatch.
Guys can anyone help, after full restore on 6.0 I can't normally reboot or turn on my phone .the trouble is when am turn on my phone it loads bootloader instead boots up, and in bootloader when I click "start" it booting up. Reboot do the same thing .

I have got answer for my own question.
It happens when before flashing in terminal type "fastboot oem fb_mode_set" , thats kind like bootloader force mode , when you reboot it always boots to fastboot. So after flashing i forgot to type "fastboot oem fb_mode_clear" to exit force mode.
Sorry for too many "reboot" words)
The only way I was able to resolve it was to do a full restore using this factory image. Leave it in fastboot and reflash. I tested before had wiping my sd card, removing my sd, wiping the internal, cache. Figured at that point easier just use a full stock image and see what happens.

Hi Guys,
The last few days I've been getting 'Ads' on the home screen every time I login. Figured I (or the kids) had installed something stupid =/
Today I did a full factory reset, only to get an 'Ad' on the home screen with in minutes of resetting. And before I'd installed any apps or apk's
Anyone else having this problem? Or have a solution to it?
Just coming back to android and still a little lost.
Thanks Guys.

I have root and adblocker and nothing in the way of ads

It looks like its something in the stock rom, people are complaining on the Elephone forums, and not just about the S7 Mini.

Just read a few comments and that's bad to put ads in the firmware.
Looks like root is your best option to delete and remove. But then no more updates.
I'm waiting for a custom ROM but it's slow progress as there's not many Devs.

As far as i know, No. The ota update needs stock boot image / loader to do its thing.
I haven't found a reliable guide on how to unpack the update and flash it manually via twrp, but i think its possible.
I've got some issue with my laptop which means it won't recognise the phone in flashtools & therefore can't fix it if it does mess up.

Good News
Looks like Daniel-David has found a work round, post #47 on this page:
http://bbs.elephone.hk/thread-13381-5-1.html
Seems its the default launcher.
Quick run down:
1º- Install Nova Launcher (I tried with this one, maybe other ones also works)
2º- Set as default, keeping press the button, select always Nova.
3º- Go to settings - apps - show system apps
4º- Search for Launcher 3 and force stop
5º- In the same screen go to Permissions and disable all
6º- Go back and in Storage, clear data and clear cache
7º- Go to main screen of apps and tap in the gear
8º- Go to Modify system settings
9º- Up in the right corner tap the three points and show system
10º- Search Launcher 3 and disable "Allow modify system settings"
11º- Go back and go to "Draw over others apps"
12º- Up in the right corner tap the three points and show system
13º- Search Launcher 3 and disable "Permit drawing over other apps"
Worked for me.
@nickzeptepi,
Is it possible to 'Root' the phone, un install the launcher, then un 'Root' in order to get OTA updates?
p.s. I could probably help fix your laptop, but your on your own with the ROM. =/
I had the same issue with the ads and uninstalled Elephone's Service-App which let the ads disappear (needs root).
anucios de inicio y desbloqueo
