Today my friends send this pics to me(find the attachments).
Developers fight hard for us to get root but in China it is easy to get a unlocked BL version of DT.
Of course we can definitely sure that this is not a retail version. 'Some models leaked from factory'.
I can easily buy one for $620.00 from taobao(Chinese ebay).
Now I only hope the developers can fight harder to get us unlocked or fully rooted.
Also, FU VERIZON, GIVE ME 5.1!!!!
Uhhh..... I hope a dev sees this, confirms, and says that "Yeah if that guy can upload something from his phone we can crack this sucker!"
#thedream
I have faith in this. Shenzhen is basically where they make all of our electronics, and I wouldn't be surprised if this is real.
Any chance in hell that this could be applied to ultra/maxx

We don't even have anything for the turbo, why on earth would something that doesnt exist yet work on the ultra/maxx. Also this device as far as I read was sold with BL unlock, not something done after the fact.

1) The bootloader on there is a lower version than what you have on your phone, so flashing it would brick yours.
2) Even if it didn't brick when you flashed it, it would behave like the normal bootloader, as you are still using a production device.

Edited: On Motorola devices that are legally shipped (meaning not stolen from the Chinese factory where they are produced), Status Code 0 is the Locked and never been unlocked by the fastboot oem unlock command state.
The phones are manufactured unlocked in the state Status Code 1, and are locked before they leave the factory and so will be Status Code 0 Locked upon receipt. The only way to get a Motorola phone that is Status Code 1 Unlocked is to "take" it from the Chinese factory before it gets locked and put into the state Status Code 0 Locked.
As is clear from that photo, the bootloader status is Status Code 1 Unlocked. AFAIK, this is one of those "factory" devices as they are referred to on Tao Bao. They have not yet been locked before they are "removed" from the factory. I doubt this was accomplished by a "developer". The only way to get a Motorola phone that is Status Code 1 Unlocked is to "remove" it from the factory before the phone is locked for the first time.
Where to buy on taobao
I know that you cannot post a link to the sale item (xda rules). But, can you provide detailed instructions on how someone like me could find it via searching on taobao?
Great find, and thanks in advance.

I think you might be mistaken. In all of the reverse engineering I've done, status mode 3 is a pre-unlocked engineering device and status 1 is just plain unlocked. Even my Moto 360 (unlocked) shows status 1.
EDIT: Now that I look back at the photo, these devices are more than just "unlocked". They have secure boot off, which means that it would be possible for someone to flash a custom bootloader if they wanted to. Unless, however, I am mistaken, which is entirely possible.
EDIT 2: Oops, looks like 1 and 3 are both unlocked with no distinct difference between the two.

Status Code 3 is the unlocked state on both of my Moto X 2013 and my N6. When I relocked my N6, it goes to Status code 2 locked.
However, now that I checked my Verizon Moto X 2014 (which has never been unlocked before) it is Status Code 0 Locked.
So I believe that Status Code 1 is the factory state of unlocked and never been locked before. I will edit my earlier post but the bottom line in all of this is that this was not done by a developer - these devices were "taken" from the factory in China before they were locked.

There is a difference b/t Status Code 1 Unlocked and Status Code 3 Unlocked. Status Code 3 Unlocked means the phone was locked at the factory and then you executed the fastboot oem unlock command to unlock it. Status Code 1 Unlocked means that they were never locked at the factory.
Feel free to speculate how these "factory" devices as they are referred to on Tao Bao were removed from the factory
Final verdict: Will this help us verizon usa folks towards the ultimate achievement on unlocking the bootloader?
I mean it would be awesome to get one with an unlocked bootloader but I mean. They were probably "taken" from the factory. Additionally at that point instead of getting another turbo, might as well just buy a phone like the Nexus 6 which has a ton of development for it.

Well I certainly wouldn't be buying one of these factory devices, but I also found the N6 was really too large for me to use as my daily driver not to mention the issues with the battery life compared to the DT. So there are plenty of reasons to choose the DT over the N6 for many people
The N6 is a nice phone, don't get me wrong, but its size makes it less appealing for many people. I really hate the fact that my Moto X 2014 is so locked down, but it is a much better choice for me to use as my daily driver.

No, taking the files from one of these devices wouldn't help us at all. The system image may be of interest, but I have one and haven't had a chance to dig through it yet. Stupid Windows won't mount it because it's an EXT4 partition dump.
I would buy one of these. @chrisjenho could you PM me some info on how to find this? I tried searching for Droid Turbo Unlocked, or Bootloader but could not find the item. Thanks

I just wanted to make this perfectly clear: DO NOT use this kernel on a Verizon variant (almost impossible as it hasn't been officially released). This kernel is not signed and the bootloader will error out. You'll then be soft bricked until you flash a signed kernel in Odin.
Visual proof...first the signed unsecure kernel that allowed first root on the VZN SGS4 (notice the signature at the bottom):

Again, please folks...do NOT flash this if you don't have an unlocked bootloader and an original kernel backup. Things could get REAL UGLY, REAL FAST.

Since it's now VERY obvious you are not the author of this kernel, I will try to explain what I think happened. The person that created this kernel probably (and I say probably because I'm not going to waste the time and bandwidth to download 1.9GB of software I don't need) downloaded the leaked firmware and extracted the boot.img. He then made two minor adjustments that gave root access and repackaged the kernel. This probably took all of two minutes. I haven't looked at the original boot.img, but there's a 99% chance this gives root on a N9005.
There's a 50/50 chance it will work on any other N3 variant that doesn't have a locked bootloader. It depends entirely on how closely the keys match. In the US, this means Sprint, T-mobile, and sometimes AT&T. The S4's bootloader was locked by AT&T and I'm expecting the N3's to be as well. Verizon is almost always locked unless you buy a developer edition phone. A locked bootloader will fail to boot an unsigned kernel and the phone will be soft bricked.
This is one of the reasons unlocking a bootloader is so important to people that enjoy customizing their Android phones. It allows for custom recovery installation, custom kernel (which can then be unsigned), and custom ROM installation. Root can still be achieved with a locked bootloader, but it is much more difficult.

Has anyone tried rooting the SM-N900K?
Does the galaxy3root dot com method work?
Terrified of trying this for fear that it will brick my device.
I'm trying to figure out why anyone would try this, when Chainfire has done his thing, is this to try and avoid the counters being triggered or something?

Still looking. Doesn't look like many Korean residents use this forum.
Does anyone can verify if there is bootloader lock on USA/CAN version of Galaxy Note 3?
We all know that the ATT&VZW version of the galaxy S4 has bootloader lock and look like there is no perfect unlock solution yet...
so how about the Note3? Will it come with LOCKED BOOTLOADER on ATT & VZW again?
or its just UNLOCKED?
hope if someone could verify this
I'm quite sure it's locked because of the knox security, newer fw on the s4 got there bootloader locked up
GT-N7105 via Tapatalk 2
The latest update on the canadian s4 didnt lock the bootloader so im really hoping the can cersion of the N3 is also unlocked. This could be a good option for at&t users as long as we can get the device sim unlocked sooner rather than later
Time will tell.
sent from my S3, S4 or Note2
If you are on Verizon or AT&T then a locked bootloader is GUARANTEED. They both have stated as much on all phones and they are not changing their position on it. All we can hope for is a method that allows us to unlock it and not have to use SS to get around it.

Knox security has NOTHING to do with the bootloader. The bootloader is lower level than Knox. The bootloader on the S4 remains publicly locked after the OTAs, but that doesn't mean it isn't privately unlocked or that it's not able to be cracked. It's just the the public bounty of $5000 is a fraction of what the exploit is worth on the black market.
"What black market?" you ask. It's not a big secret if it's in Forbes magazine.
So the next time your device's bootloader or root state is not where you'd like it to be, don't assume that the device's manufacturer or the carrier made things too difficult, throw your hands up, and curse the xda developers for not having a solution. Instead, go to the bounty thread and pledge something worth their while. Can you really blame them for not caring about a $10 pledge when it takes them many hours over several days to get the exploit? Meanwhile, the $10 donation would give the person two years+ worth of benefit. What would you do if you were them?
I work at a phone repair shop and bootloader of the S4 is not a problem. I flashed many S4's. Customers are scared to update their devices so we offer that as a service since were an official service point of samsung.
The new multi tool gives problems but good old odin 1.85 never fails.

I was told that write protection enabled is shown in download mode. I wasn't exactly sure if that is for the NAND or the bootloader however.
I haven't seen Samsung lock their nand down like HTC does however.

Wait, are you saying that you are able to downgrade from latest FW?? For example from XXUDMH8 down to XXUBMEA??
I've tried and it's simply impossible due to irreversible bootloader.. Odin will FAIL on aboot.mbn and if you exclud it, you won't have Sound nor WiFi nor Calls ...

Mate, new bootloader for GT-I9505 (S4 int) is NOT locked, it's irreversible and SECURED.. You CAN root your phone or flash Custom Recovery/ROM/Kernel etc but it will trigger KNOX WARRANTY VOID flag and set it to 0x1... What that mean?? No one knows (yet) ... Some says that your WARRANTY is VOID but I don't think so... It should be KNOX Software related ONLY but it's still unknown...
Note 3 will have the same type of Bootloader and KNOX SOFTWARE on-board.... It won't stop you from flashing Custom ROM's but we need to find out if our WARRANTY RIGHTS will be intact or void?? That's my question for now...

Flashing ROM's through Custom Recovery is a different story and Bootloader is NOT flashed.. You CAN'T downgrade it at all... (so far) Tested
Tomorrow at work i'm gonna check out our special samsung pc, its got special software on it linked directly to the samsung database. I's not working through odin but a different kind of program that also lets you flash multiple phones at once even if they differ. I'm gonna check out if its possible to flash an older bootloader with that and report back.

Which carrier and which country. If you have an AT&T or Verizon phone then you are in for some gold and riches. Otherwise you likely have one that is not locked by carrier request.

For a person that has an owl as their avatar, you're not really making a wise decision. Let's weigh this one out:
Stay at home, make my own hours doing something I really love as a livelihood, be able to afford sending my kids to college :good: :highfive:
--OR--
Fight traffic going into work every day, work on their schedule and sometimes holidays, and pray I don't lose my job while my kid takes out tons of student loans. As an added bonus, I get to brag to people I don't know, who I will never meet, about hours of work I did for absolutely free. :crying:

I'm sure many very smart people will own a Note 3 and exploit it anyway so they can root their own device for their own benefit. It takes virtually no effort to reveal said exploit so hardly much work for strangers (since the root they did for themselves). Keep in mind that the folks who have been finding exploits for iOS for years have never asked for money (google Dev-Team blog).

Have you ever thought that they might have sold it before they went public so there was no reason to ask?
As far as US models, there is already a Clockwork mod recovery for the 900T (Tmobile) version. This still doesn't mean we can flash custom kernels but it does mean we can flash custom roms with stock kernels hopefully. It does trip the Knox counter which is fine by me. I don't want to use it anyway.

That's not the real issue though, the issue is, once triggered will Samsung refuse to do a warranty repair on your device, if you have to send it back for any reason?

Tomorrow at work i'm gonna check out our special samsung pc, its got special software on it linked directly to the samsung database. I's not working through odin but a different kind of program that also lets you flash multiple phones at once even if they differ. I'm gonna check out if its possible to flash an older bootloader with that and report back.

So like i promised, i have checked out the special computer with the samsung smartflash tool, the + on this is that you can download the stock roms in multiple files (PDA/MODEM/CSC etc.) but flashing seperate files must be done by odin, the smart tool installs all of em at once. so were till no further on the bootloader backward flashing. I can check if i can put all bootloaders online for development useage.

That doesn't matter to me that much since my Tmobile device is coming unlocked. The warranty is questionable anyway. I'm planning on getting a squaretrade warranty.

Same issue here. Can anyone confirm this works? The quote above seems a little fishy. Butchiboy's provided link (see his og post above) is an application for Mega and I don't want to have to create an account for something that might not work.
Its not an application for Mega. Mega is an app that you use to share apk's or files. Its like Google drive. You dont have to create an account its a app thats free in the playstore..nothing fishy about it..all you have to do is use your email and create a password for the app. Once you grab the file delete the app...just trying to help..but hey if you dont wanna use it then dont

If you check my profile you will see I am no noob..would not post something thats "Fishy"...many developers that post roms..apks..themes..use Mega its just a app from the playstore..this is the reason why I really dont visit XDA to often but rather a developers private site..instead of saying thanks or sending PM asking you tag something as "Fishy"..but when you try it and your back up and running I hope you enjoy your Tablet...oh I forgot to add you need to grab the boot file that allows you to root the T337A and flash that 1st..but I will not post that..just a heads up

Yeah mega is best cloud storage in my opinion..... other clouds have like 10gb space for free users but mega has 50 gb, and in e.g dropbox that much would cost money

I was running it stock with out any root changes and all the soddenly one day it just went blank and after rebooting the massage show up... any help is welcome.
The fix is for Lollipop. If the tablet was upgraded to Lollipop and someone tried to root it thats why that message appears. If its not Lollipop I dont believe it will work.

Why would you use a one click root? It's not very difficult to root using the actual method to obtain root. Props to the dev of one click root apps, but if u ask me, if you want root do it yourself. Less of a chance you will mess up and if you do manage to mess up you know what u did and that's just not the case with one click root apps.

They have a locked bootloader so custom kernels and custom recoveries simply aren't an option. So they have to use whatever works, which is usually a one click root app (or in sometimes a full-blown pre-rooted firmware, but nobody's made one of those for this device)
Not that I disagree with you outright. If one has a device with an unlocked bootloader, it's always better to do it right, rather than these sketchy one-click root apps. But people with AT&T or Verizon devices have completely locked down bootloaders, so they don't have much of a choice. I've been missing CM on my phone (AT&T branded) I finally snapped and bought myself an international model

Oh I gotcha. That makes sence. So is there no way to unlock the bootloader AT&T or verizon? I have a HTC Desire 510 from cricket that had a locked bootloader but was able to get a unlock token from HTC. Most difficult phone I had to root in terms of being tedious and the time it took lol. I have rooted my tab 4 and my s4 before screen broke, both of which were straightforward and pretty simple, but never had AT&T or Verizon. I wonder why they have locked bootloader without having a way to unlock it like my HTC. Anyways thanks for your response, I always enjoy learning new things about android and software/hardware in general. Also do you have chrome on ur phone, if you do does it auto update with out permission. Mine just started doing this a few days ago.

Hi everyone...
I'm new to Android and iBones (sic), I'm more of an old school PC "CounterStrike/Team Fortress/Half-Life" type.
Anyhow, I got myself in the same position as the others here with the AT&T branded Tab 4s. I can see how easy it is to get into that position now, as I like exploring, or doing something just because I'm told I can't.
As for the fix posted here, it works. I was even surprised that all my apps were still there, minus pics, porn and movies. Uhhh, did I say porn?
The only thing that scared me was how easy and fast it was. It's nice to catch a break now and again!
Props to butchieboy!!!
I have a AT&T Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 (SM-T537A) 5.1.1 and did kingroot this morning to remove all the ADS, my word the ads... Anyway got that message Secure Fail: Kernel after rebooting - Sorry to say this method did NOT work for me. Is it because I have a 10.1 (SM-T537A)? Any suggestions? Thanks and I will keep looking digging.

Bricked my XT1580 UK N
Hey XDA Developers
I admit i am an idiot!
I tried to root my XT1580 with a tutorial (not able to post link) and of course i bricked my phone big time. Is there a nice developer wich would try to help me flash a stock rom to my phone and hopefully make it boot again?
I used: twrp-2.8.7.0-kinzie.img
And SuperSU v2.65
I now downloaded Stock Marshmallow 6.0.0 /// XT1580_KINZIE_RETMX_DS_6.0_MPK24.78-8_cid12_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip as i tought this would be the fiting stock rom for this device and region i live (Switzerland) but i am not very shure how to do it and i just dont want to destroy my belved xt1580 more than it allready is.
I am happy for any response.
Best Regards

fastboot flash recovery.img
stock recovery.img is in the stock firmware xml.zip

Hello,
I need some info on the chinese XT1581.
Is the bootloader unlockable? root? Are there any custom roms available for this device?
The only difference is the dual-sim?
Has anybody experience with this device?
Thanks!
I know I'm going to regret this and I probably already do so here goes:
I picked up a Motorola Droid Turbo 2 off craigslist tonight, traded another phone for it (LG Stylo 2 Plus) and everything was working fine during the actual meeting with the previous owner. He checked out the Stylo while I checked out the Turbo 2. Aside from scuffs and scrapes and whatnot I decided it was worth the trade - he said he was moving to Europe and just wouldn't need it anymore and he then showed me his Moto X Force (first time I'd ever seen one in person, verified it with the phone info, etc) and I figured what the hell, I'm good.
So he leaves, and me having not messed with a Verizon device for some time figured "Ok, I know all the Verizon devices are GSM unlocked from the factory since the summer of 2013 because of the FCC frequency auctions, no problem..." and then I power down and remove the T-Mobile nanoSIM from my Moto X 1st gen and power down the Turbo 2, etc, moving the nanoSIM over.
Power the Turbo 2 back up and of course I get the "SIM Card not from Verizon Wireless..." notification which I've seen in the past. I go into Settings and then set it for Global mode and... nothing, still doesn't work. Check the About phone info, it sees the nanoSIM, doesn't pull the APN data from the card so I put it in manually, still nothing. Reboot, still nothing, and so on and so forth.
I do some research and find out that Verizon - since some point in 2015 - now sells their devices technically unlocked for GSM operation but there's some funky network-specific lock on them for at least 1 year after the sale/purchase of the device so they guarantee they get something back on their investment. I called the previous owner, asked him what the deal was, he said he bought it December 1st 2015 and because he was moving that was that and it wasn't his problem anymore.
So yeah, I'm probably screwed on this for use with T-Mobile now but I figured I'd ask here anyway: not looking to rip anybody off but, I don't use Verizon, never have, never will, and I don't even know anyone that uses them either so I'm not sure how to proceed. In the good old days you could do the 4-corner trick and bypass the need to activate the phone with Verizon but obviously nothing is that simple anymore.
Is there any way to get this device up and running with T-Mobile since it should be unlocked? I called Verizon and they said because I'm not the original owner/purchaser (neither is the guy I got it from, apparently he got it used himself earlier this year) they won't provide me whatever info or method is required to make it truly GSM unlocked as it's supposed to be so I'm stuck there.
It's not blacklisted, at least that Verizon would tell me, nor stolen from what I gather - I checked the ESN against several sites like Swappa and CheckESNFree and it shows green/clear/ready for activation and yet it's just not happening.
Any advice or suggestions or straight out method to get past that aspect and make it work properly with T-Mobile is greatly appreciated if anyone can help.
If I end up using it as a Wi-Fi only device, so be it, but that wasn't the idea when I got it - my mistake was not doing research ahead of time on this new device. I've owned several Droid MAXX/Ultra/Mini smartphones - all Verizon devices of course - and never had to deal with this activation BS, I just put my T-Mobile SIM card in them and rebooted and wham, always worked without problems.
I should have known it wouldn't be that simple anymore.

I should have known it wouldn't be that simple anymore.

call Verizon, tell them the situation, worse case you waste some time on the phone

I don't know if this is the correct place, if not, please reallocate accordingly.
As the title suggests, I'm willing to pay $30 dollars for having the verizon bootloader unlocked, hope more users get into the cause.

There's already a thread on the 2xl that's over 1k and no luck so far.

For anyone interested, I contacted user ismailaba and got my Verizon Pixel XL unlocked, I got it with 7.1.2, and updated to 8.1.1 when he unlocked it, here are some picks:

Ah ok, I already have mine unlocked but I would love to have the option to lock and relock at will. Did Ismael charge for the service to unlock? Was it done remotely?
What is involved with unlocking the boot loader?
Smail simply uses teamviewer to remote connect to your computer and uses Flexihub to connect his computer to your phone. I did a factory reset and took out my sim card and skipped connecting wifi. I went straight to develop options and turned on USB debugging and he did the rest. He said turn on wifi and reboot and 5 minutes later i was able to toggle oem unlock. He didn't charge me he said he takes donations but not necessary. I was just as skeptical anyone but he genuinely has figured it out.
I can also confirm that @Kream24 is correct. This method is legit. He didn't charge me either, but I did donate $10 to him.
I've run custom roms on every phone I've owned but this one. Really not missing much without root. Definitely fun to tinker with but, I've been able to pretty much do anything I need to without it. Sure it involves more steps using adb and buying pda net to get around the 15 gig Verizon Hotspot. I do miss viper but, I'm having no problems with my phone.
If I were going to unlock I wouldn't be afraid to use smail's method and I'm kind of paranoid about who touches my stuff.
