Hello,
I am currently in Japan and my device does not manage to connect to Docomo network, it simply doesn't find anything when manually searching for networks.
With my home simcard it eventually found Softbank network, although i had to travel long distances until it worked and if I reboot I'm back to square one. With the japanese sim, it has never worked.
I know the hardware supports it so at this point i'm thinking about the modem, but which modem should I flash for it to work in japan (and east asia area possibly?). I looked around in the forums but didn't find a definite answer.
I am currently running OmegaDroid v40 (android 4.4.2 and baseband XXUFNC9)
Any help or tips would be appreciated as my situation make it extremely painful to live without phone or internet access !
Thanks in advance!
Bump, nobody has any input or experience with S4 in Japan ?

Greetings. First, I wish to thank the users on this board for the great advices. I have been quietly reading and learning as much as I can. I have a Telus (Canadian carrier) Vogue with the following specifications:
OS: WM 6.1 (official release for Telus)
ROM 3.07.661.1
Radio: 3.41.00
GPS works nicely when I travel across Canada, even when the airplane mode is turned on, ie. the phone and data functions have been disabled. Once in awhile, GPS will fail to find a satellite, and I just need to reboot the phone.
However, I have no luck getting it to find any satellite in Japan, Hong Kong, or Thailand. Does anyone know if GPS will work in Asia?
I apologize if the question/issue has been covered. I have not been able to find it after searching the Vogue threads.
Thanks for your time.

Hi everyone
I bought a Samsung Omnia 7 on T-Mobile UK last December and unlocked/debranded using the very helpful instructions here:
(can't post a link but search "wccftech debrand omnia 7")
I now use it on T-Mobile USA and it works great, except that there's no 3G. I've done a lot of reading on these and other forums and it's clear that it does not support the right frequencies to use 3G in the US. However, I have also seen mentions that the actual radio chip inside the phone can support these frequencies, it's just a matter of flashing the right ROM to unlock them. I'm really not an expert though and I've trawled the web looking for answers, then I came across this forum.
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction, or at least, tell me it can't be done.
Thanks in advance
Since you've debranded it warranty isn't the issue, so I would try either flashing new stock Rom or flashing with custom Rom.
You can easily find tutorials in windows phone 7 hacking and developing section:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=606
Maybe there's some easier solution, since similar issues affected some developer/interlop unlocked phones upon their unlocking.
You can try Samsung Network Profile app form Samsung marketplace first. Maybe that will be enough.
I suppose you have filled apn sections for your provider in cellular data section? If not you should do so according to your provider.
I hope sth of this will help.
You could try to flash a specific radio FW from Focus AT&T(only the radio). Look inside the Focus sub-forums, I used to flash radios from Omnia7 on my Focus and there were no hiccups.
Hi All....Firstly I apologise if I'm putting this thread in the wrong section but as a novice please forgive me...
I am thinking of buying the N700 from panamoz.com as it's cheap but they have said there units are imported from the far east and there for cannot guarantee if they will work in the UK...
so my questions to the forum are:
1. If a phone is unlocked wouldn't it work if I put a T-mobile sim in it?
2. as the phone is shipped in from the Far East some Eng(UK) apps won't , work or be available in English UK...if not is there a way to configure the phone for them to work...?
3. Would I need to Install Mobile phone specifics configurations in order for the note to work??
Thanks for your help in advance..
Neil
1. If it is factory unlocked then you should have no trouble using your UK T-Mobile SIM in it.
2. I don't see why any app wouldn't work on it, never encountered such an issue with any Android device I've used. If you do get issues then there's always custom roms .
3. You may have to set up the APN settings if you keep the stock foreign ROM, but that is easy and takes a couple of seconds with a single Google search. Of course custom roms generally have huge APN lists built in and would have your necessary configuration.
Hope that helps.

Remember to make sure it is an N7000 and note an I9220. They are different, albeit slightly.
Hello guys, my sister bough me a beautiful SG4 i9505G LTE when she was in NY, but she was'nt aware of this little 'G' specifications, so... What's the problem ? Well, i'm French, and my carrier don't really like this little phone...
I was in my little town couple weeks ago and was able to use my phone, call / sms / mms, but since i'm now in Paris for study, my phone is not connected anymore on my carriier... i've looked around some french android board, and also here in XDA forums, but i found nothing unfortunatly.
I have the signal from my carrier, but i can't connect to it since he's rejecting me, tried roaming too, same thing.
I found a possibility to change the band used in this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291589 but i think it wll not work at all, so i'm asking for your help :/
Carrier: Free Mobile

Or a modem update eventually ?
Hello all, recently I have acquired quite a few of Huawei's LTE modem/router device B610s-76a, B610s-77a and B610s-79a. From the outside the devices look absolutely identical, therefore I am not sure what is the difference (if any) exist between the 3 models. They all are retired Softbank Japan devices that can no longer be activated on that network. I have struggled to find any information about them that is in English. Ideally I would like to use them as an LTE base station with a different carrier and a different firmware that is in English not Japanese. Would it be possible to port DD-wrt or Open-wrt to it? What about the LTE part ? Will it still work? Thanks all for your help.
