So is Bell and most other carriers in Canada are scheduled to release within days
I have to ask... What is it that you're expecting to gain from Lollipop? Is there something you're not able to do on KK? Are there apps that you can't use? Sure, I'm waiting for Lollipop too... But I'm waiting patiently because I know ours is going to take a little longer due to WiFi-Calling. It's not as simple as taking what Samsung gives to the carriers and they just slap their software on it. So, seriously... why everyone is crying over Lollipop taking so long?
Plus we cant use xposed still right? So i guess ill be staying on kk

I'm pretty sure Xposed still doesn't work on Samsung ROMs.
Consider the tmo version has root and the vzw version hasn't have root until today. It's more lucky to be on this side than there.

You should switch to Verizon to enjoy that lollipop update. yeah, sayb ye to your unlocked bootloader. I don't understand why you complaint.
I dont get it
There is almost nothing in Lolipop thats different. I'll take unlocked bootloaders, root and wifi calling any day.

Xposed doesn't work with Lollipop TouchWiz ROMs. It only works with AOSP/CM based 5.0+ ROMs.

I'm sure they do. We'll just have to sit back, relax, and wait for it to be released. Until then I'm sticking with good ol' tried and true KitKat.

not too concerned about verizon considering it's still locked in terms of bootloader.
I ain't too worried about LP either.... KK is just fine.
I do wish we had more kernel options though (real kernel options)

I really like trusted devices in lollipop. Yeah you can probably concoct a tasker recipe to do the same thing but it's not as convenient. That being said I can wait on lollipop, however you shouldn't dismiss it as an unimportant update. Tmobile won't be far behind.
The fact that Verizon...............VERIZON got the lollipop update before T-Mobile is very ****ed up on T-Mobile behalf.
The Note 4 has gotten no love since release. Pretty sad for a next gen device.
Lmfao. Might I ask what do you plan on getting when you get lollipop. What is so special about it that a themer can't do.

Also has any heard about current developers working on a kitkat rom?

Kitkat rom isn't possible without a leaked TW rom to begin with.
Why so eager? Touchwiz hardly resembles stock Android anyways. Flash player won't ever work with Kitkat. All our recent dev work would have to be redone.. right now is there one good reason we should be itching to get the 4.4 update?
yes

I'm not itching for kitkat....In fact I don't know what the major update is(in kitkat). But the time it took for the last note to receive a update was a year. I've never been on one version of android that long.
So that prompts question are developsers working with the kitkat source on the note while keeping our touchwiz?

We can't flash kernels (yes I know you DE guys can but good luck seeing much development there) so there will be no kitkat without a Samsung leak. AOSP source does nothing for us at all.
I just want 4.4 for google wallet to actually work

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that when I posted, I started to research it and I thought that's what I read too but haven't tried to use so didn't know fir sure.
I guess it's more of a Verizon thing that they blocked the function to make you use their service.

Nothing has changed. We don't have KitKat (4..4), at least us with consumer versions don't. Until we do, or someone figures out a work around, no "tap to pay" Google Wallet.

I may be wrong, I'm no Dev, but the way I understand it. It's not so much Wallet supporting it as it is the OS itself. 4.4 supports the host card emulation ability and Wallet was updated to use that ability. I hope I'm wrong, but that's my understanding for what it's worth.

I hate to be the guy who keeps raining on the parade, but I wouldn't count on our VZW variant getting updated in January. The international version, maybe, but the only way we'll get KitKat by then is if Hashcode or someone cracks the boatloader or Hash gets Kexec working. Just my opinions, of course.
Do you guys think the lollipop update will help the chance of a root method being found? When the update comes out should I do it right then and there or wait to see if lollipop will completely ruin any chance
There was an article from ChainsDD saying that if anything lollipop is more locked down. My bet is, if their going to get root it's going to be on KitKat.

Wouldn't we have root by now then? I only say because KitKat doesn't seem that hard to root even though it varies depending on OEM. I would think since lollipop for the Droid Turbo isn't too far off (we hope) Then devs would just wait til then for root because most people will take the lollipop update. At least that's how it looks to me and this is my opinion
I'm pretty sure Lollipop will come with root.

Please explain I'm intrigued
To sum up what I think he means is he believes that root will be obtained in lollipop for the Droid Turbo ( Again just guessing)
I think reduces chances of root
I say helps. Because pretty soon all current moto phones will be on lollipop anyways

My opinion is that Kit Kat doesn't have root NOT because its impossible but because the lack of interest from the people that find these exploits, perhaps its just a matter of time before one of these guys gets a Turbo and works on it or so we hope.
Finding these exploits is not easy an requires insane amounts of personal time and resources, often with little reward. I understand that there's a bounty on this site but this site is just a star in a galaxy. Sometimes these exploits are found by Asian hackers not Americans therefore the audience is very limited on a Verizon exclusive device like our Turbo.
I do however believe, and this is just my opinion and perhaps wishful thinking, that Lollipop will shine a spotlight on this device and people will notice it even more and perhaps attract some of these guys willing to spend hours after hours finding that one vulnerability in that one line code where they can inject their own code to achieve root. Good luck to us!

I bet the differ. No phone would come out with an update with root included. An exploit needs to be found. Even chainfire states that root access is going to be harder with lollipop. I dont think we will be seeing root anytime soon. Atleast for a year.
I hope he didn't actually mean the update would be rooted already.

T-mobile note 4 has an unlocked bootloader. That's greater than android Z on a locked bootloader device.

Wait... So 5.1.1 was/is being slipped over?
Wow, so really when did T-Mobile fall way behind Verizon as the worst carrier for getting out updates? It used to be Verizon was far worse then all the carriers for getting out updates. I wish Sammy would just make there phones with Vanilla Android and the Spen and features work on those Kernels. Imagine CM with a working Spen suit?
How soon can we expect to see custom Marshmallow ROMs for our devices based on the ASOP Nexus Marshmallow ROMs?
So another 6ish months before we can hope to have an update. Skipping the one we know works. Hopefully Marshmallow isn't nearly as bad as when lollipop 5.0 landed. T-mobile is just about worthless for updates.

lol I feel your pain. I feel that way. But I'm actually one of those guys that hates battery drains and such so i never ever take a major update untill its been out awhile and i know there aren't issues. That's why I'm still on 4.4.4 running Hyperdrive RLS3 cause 5.0.1 i constantly hear the battery is noticeably worse on 5.0.1 then Kit Kat.
So Updates aren't crazy important to me, it's easy for me to just sit back and wait.

BaHumBug! We, Tmobile customers, should have already learned the lesson by now that this only means a 6-7 month wait for 6.0 (possible bugs too) and most will move on to different phones/carriers by then. I love my Note 4, I think it is still a great overall phone but Tmobile sucks with updates.
Also can't wait for those that will come to this thread lets say about 2-3 months from now that will ask "so did 6.0 come out yet?" or "Any news on 6.0?".
If this article is to be believed, there seems to be a certain Note 4 missing from development by Samsung....
I'll give you a hint... It starts with a T and ends with a Mobile.
