My S6 Read and Write speeds for SD and RAM - Galaxy S6 General

I just got my 64GB S6 and here are the benchmarks for my fresh S6 after restoring my backup and installing the T-mobile software update that has already came out. I used A1 SD Bench to test these speeds.
I am super impressed, with these speeds, I really don't mind no micro SD slot. :good:

Damn those are some nice numbers! Can't wait to pick up one of these bad boys next week!

I know you get faster file movement (copying etc..), booting time along with faster programs.. but, how does this exactly affect the overall performance?

The overall effect is that everything your doing is done faster, smoother, with no hesitation. So just makes the overall experience fluid. I especially notice this speed when installing an apk. Smaller programs you hit the install button and in a blink its done, literally a blink.

You pretty much answered your own question.
Every action performed on a device requires a read, write, or both (but mostly read). The faster that occurs, the faster and smoother the performance will be.
So while it'll help with the actual "movement" of files, it also speeds up access times and the overall interactions between the device's components.
It's all about removing bottlenecks from hindering the device from doing its job.

The reviews are basically going to say what's been echoed throughout the boards: The pros, more or less, being that the device will be fast and will run the latest/cleanest Android build directly from Google. The cons, more or less, will be about everything everyone's complaining about (lack of HSPA+, expandable slot, and some other downgrades).

All the reviews are essentially saying the same thing. The pros being more or less the Google experience, untouched and unaltered; super fast; and direct Google updates. The cons being what every one has/is complaining about: lack of HSPA+ support, not a huge improvement giving the context of near-future devices, NFC has potential but nothing major for the moment, lack of expandable SD slot, lack of HD recording, etc.
There are no more surprises. People are getting this phone primarily for Gingerbread and future direct/clean updates, but not much else.

Method of comparing Nexus 4 and Note II's processors

Hey guys, I just need some help checking if this method is sound. I came up with it in the car just about an hour ago. The basic jist is just a uniform standardised way of comparing processors. Let me know what you think. Link Below
http://coldfustion.blogspot.com.au/2012/11/idea-for-universal-way-of-processor.html
It'll make more sense if you read the explanation first.

Well, it still does not solve the problem of weighing both between the tests and possible within each test run.
So the question still would be "11% better for what?".
Interesting..

Sorry, I’m not sure if I follow the first half of the question but in response to the second half.
It doesn't really work that. Each processor would naturally have their pros and cons so one processer would be “better” at some things than the other, but this is a final overall average-comparative method.
The method strictly compares 2 phones while reducing the sensitivity of processor bias within tests on a standardised scale. Maybe it would be best to Imagine if each percent was a unit on this comparative scale.
It that would finally state something like: “The Nexus 4 scores 11.9 Units against the galaxy note II”
Which is not major where as something line “The galaxy note II scores 55 Units against the galaxy note 1” is massive and you’d know that the note II is a lot better than the original.
I hope this all makes sense. Haha it’s just an idea let me know if you still think it’s rubbish
All it means that out of 100 things, the Nexus can handle 11 things better than the Note 2. The other 89 things performed par to par on both phones

Huge problem after 4.2.2: slow SD write speed

Hi
Yesterday i recieved 4.2.2 ota, and since then, i've realised my nexus 10 is not as smooth as it used to be.
I've specially felt that when i was installing/downloading APPs, in those moments, there were a ton of frames lost swyping homescreens, running apps etc.
With this, i've started to digg, and since this smells like I/O problems, i've ran antutu to check my eMMC speeds. And there comes the surprise. In 4.2.1 i used to have around 50MB/s writting speeds. Now, in 4.2.2, writting speed jumps from 4 to 7 MB/s, what produces lag.
I'm not rooted/unlocked and i've ever been.
Can you run antutu or other memory benchmarks and tell me if you are having the same issue? I've done nothing in my tablet but installing the OTA i recieved yesterday, so i'm a bit suspicious about that.
Thanks!

Full stock 4.2.2 (no unlock or root atm)
Benchmarks are perfect.. Flies through tests. Also OP, 50MB/s write tests seem impossible.. I don't know any device that writes that fast and would be a complete waste..
Nexus 10
For comparisons sake one of my tests from the Nexus 7..
Edit: Right image in place for Nexus 7
Thank you guys. So it's only a problem with my device.
I've uninstalled every single APP i had updated since yesterday, and nothing, this keeps writting SD extremely slow.
I'm afraid i'll have to do a factory reset. i'll report back when it's done.
Sv: Huge problem after 4.2.2: slow SD write speed
My write speed was comparable to yours when sdcard was close to full. I removed 4gb and all went back to normal. This was on 4.2.1. I have not tested yet with 4.2.2

Theoretically it wasn't my issue, unless OTA created some weird files that filled my memory. Anyway couldn't check it out, since after i did a factory reset everything worked again, with ~30MB/s writting speeds. The problem, i spent about 2 hours reinstalling everything.
Thanks for your help!

Few minutes later, As I'm typing this, this is how it's running:
These are taken in normal room temperature. Im curious what temperatures you all are running at? and what you guys feel is "normal"?
It doesn't really ever run below 40c currently and I'm not sure if these temps are healthy behavior. 50c in my hands doesn't exactly feel "comfortable"...

I'm rooted, installed xposed , flashed the fixes and debloater and have both greenify and amplify running, running way better than it ever did stock...mine was buggy out of the box but now it's pretty dang smooth here's the whole guide of you haven't already been this far http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...sed-unroot-t3411039/post67605246#post67605246
I'm stock and never rooted. I can say that this phone gets way too hot. Doesn't seem normal at all.
So exchanged my regular S7 for an Edge, and it's thermals are way better. Running around 34c. May have just been poor thermal pad contact...

Well it's a larger phone with more surface area. Maybe that's why?

[Battery] Samsung Galaxy S8 behavior: how does it work?

I've mostly used iPhone until now, and as a big fan of Steve Jobs (not Apple) for years I was both satisfied but also incredibly getting bored and dissatisfied with the latest non-upgraded iPhones so I decided to switch. Boy was I wrong...
The reason why I mention the iPhone is that, since this is either illegal or highly aggressive against the user, the iPhone was always ULTRA stable, in that battery, phone, temperature was always linear (with of course slow decay of the battery) no matter what I installed or modified.
Now I've had a Galaxy S8 for 6 months, and while I didn't root it (except ADB-enabled it) or even updated it to Oreo, the Galaxy S8 is constantly changing my settings but also performance and temperature are changing from periods to periods without any inputs from me. And now, while I could except from 26h to 40h of usage (while using the same apps and settings), my battery has been going haywire and ****ed, and I can feel the S8 getting hot quicker than usual.

As you can see here, the Android System (listed as DeX) and the kernel which is constantly wakelocking, are screwing my battery without any changes on my end whatsoever (Pokemon Go usage is as expected and usual). A month ago, it was the Phone Radio screwing over my battery without any input, but still it had better battery. My question is not so much how to fix the battery usage (it partly is but I know how convoluted this can get with Package disabling actions) but rather: why the heck does the smartphone, samsung, google or god know what ****ing tempers with my settings and usages and suddenly the behaviour of the system changes screwing my battery despite every effort I make everytime to optimised it and disable non-system packages?
I gather XDA is not to best place to get answers. Why the heck isn't there any clear-cut list with description for popular smartphones and versions somewhere?
