Huge problem after 4.2.2: slow SD write speed - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
Yesterday i recieved 4.2.2 ota, and since then, i've realised my nexus 10 is not as smooth as it used to be.
I've specially felt that when i was installing/downloading APPs, in those moments, there were a ton of frames lost swyping homescreens, running apps etc.
With this, i've started to digg, and since this smells like I/O problems, i've ran antutu to check my eMMC speeds. And there comes the surprise. In 4.2.1 i used to have around 50MB/s writting speeds. Now, in 4.2.2, writting speed jumps from 4 to 7 MB/s, what produces lag.
I'm not rooted/unlocked and i've ever been.
Can you run antutu or other memory benchmarks and tell me if you are having the same issue? I've done nothing in my tablet but installing the OTA i recieved yesterday, so i'm a bit suspicious about that.
Thanks!

Full stock 4.2.2 (no unlock or root atm)

Benchmarks are perfect.. Flies through tests. Also OP, 50MB/s write tests seem impossible.. I don't know any device that writes that fast and would be a complete waste..
Nexus 10
For comparisons sake one of my tests from the Nexus 7..
Edit: Right image in place for Nexus 7

Thank you guys. So it's only a problem with my device.
I've uninstalled every single APP i had updated since yesterday, and nothing, this keeps writting SD extremely slow.
I'm afraid i'll have to do a factory reset. i'll report back when it's done.

My write speed was comparable to yours when sdcard was close to full. I removed 4gb and all went back to normal. This was on 4.2.1. I have not tested yet with 4.2.2

Theoretically it wasn't my issue, unless OTA created some weird files that filled my memory. Anyway couldn't check it out, since after i did a factory reset everything worked again, with ~30MB/s writting speeds. The problem, i spent about 2 hours reinstalling everything.
Thanks for your help!

Finally... Some speeds worth mentioning...

I've been the proud owner of a G2 for three days now and my download speeds have hovered around the exact same area that I was getting with my Vibrant. Yesterday I decided to swap my Vibrant SIM to the one packaged with the G2 and I'm pleased to say that I got my first real world experience of HSPA+ this morning; a result that is unachievable by the Vibrant. Without further ado...

**Note - While I am in love with that speed, there's still web issues that I have. Does anyone else's G2 randomly get stuck on uploading data for a while instead of downloading? During this time, I cannot send messages or download. I just have to sit and wait until it's done. Anyway, what are the speeds that you all are experiencing with your G2's?
Yes, sometimes my data stops working. A quick toggle between airplane mode seems to fix it.
So u swapped sims to the one that came with the g2 and instantly got faster speeds?
Maybe I need to try and swap. I just used the sim that I had in my G1

No, it wasn't instant. It was ironically a gradual process. (Or so it seemed...) It started off at the peak of what I was getting with my Vibrant around 6mbps and then kept moving up. I didn't swap the SIM for faster speeds but more to resolve missing phone calls without notifications. (That benefit alone was worth it!) I was under the impression that the swap wouldn't change much, if anything, but I think my argument has been shot out of the water. Go figure.

[Q] photos loading at very low quality

I have had the same customer return 3 times because of the issue. In all his apps (facebook, instagram, browser, and more) all pictures being loaded from the web are coming in at low pixelated quality. The first time he came in our Samsung rep was there and said he had no idea why it would do that and after we both looked through the settings we decided to try a factory reset..
That worked for about a day and he returns with the same issue. So we replaced his device. Here it is 2 days later and now he's experiencing the same issue again.
It's not the reception. His wife got the same phone and she has not had any of those issues. He connected to WiFi and it's still coming in at extremely low quality.
What could be the issue?? Is there a setting that's he's getting into that could cause all online photos to render at a low quality?
Attached are screenshots of the issue.

nobody knows???
Nobody knows anything about this? This has been an issue with Samsung devices dating back to the original galaxy s. I've searched all over the web with people posting these exact same issues. And not a single person has been able to come up with any kind of solution or thought about what could be causing this. My own rep has no clue what it could be either. One of the employees had the same issue the other day with her s3. Couldnt figure out why it happened but a simple factory reset fixed the issue. It came back of course. But it seems like it's only effecting Samsung devices. So at least one of you guys here had to of ran into this problem at least once.

UPDATE
it seems to have been caused by switching from and to an lte network. Found out after digging around that a customer with an iPhone 5 reported the same issue. Apparently somewhere along the way to and from lte/3g data compression is an issue. Thanks for all your help guys.......

[Q] Sprint LS980 Heat issue - anyone else?

Noticed that my G2 was getting pretty warm this morning while web browsing. After that I ran Antutu and it was really warm. Just to see how warm it was getting it installed System Tuner and left it open while running Antutu again. As soon as it was finished I kicked over into System Tuner to find under CPU the temp was 168.8F. Playing Angry Birds SW it's in the mid 140s, browsing was 120ish. That seems abnormally hot to me. It's at 109.4F right now with only ST open, nothing else and it's been sitting off for 20 minutes. Thinking about returning it for a replacement.
G2 is completely stock, not rooted, very few apps installed. Only syncing is gmail, contacts, chrome & app data. Wifi on and connected, strong tower signal. No case on the phone.
I've read through a few threads in various places discussing the G2 getting hot but I've yet to see anyone post temps like this. I do realize that Antutu is a tool and doesn't reflect everyday real world use, but it's hitting high temperature in games too.
Thoughts, opinions?
Edit: Ran Antutu again and checked battery temp with cpu z, was at 102.7

Updated with a couple pics
way too hot, you probably have a process stuck in the background. did it go away after a reboot?
I've rebooted several times through the day and it hasn't made a difference. Went up to 131F just now running Tapatalk. I haven't found anything stuck in the background either. This thing heats up just browsing.

I've noticed my G2 feeling warm also. After Web browsing for a few minutes, the CPU temp is 120 according to System Tuner. It was warmer earlier today, but didn't have a chance to check the temp.

My S6 Read and Write speeds for SD and RAM

I just got my 64GB S6 and here are the benchmarks for my fresh S6 after restoring my backup and installing the T-mobile software update that has already came out. I used A1 SD Bench to test these speeds.
I am super impressed, with these speeds, I really don't mind no micro SD slot. :good:

Damn those are some nice numbers! Can't wait to pick up one of these bad boys next week!
I know you get faster file movement (copying etc..), booting time along with faster programs.. but, how does this exactly affect the overall performance?

The overall effect is that everything your doing is done faster, smoother, with no hesitation. So just makes the overall experience fluid. I especially notice this speed when installing an apk. Smaller programs you hit the install button and in a blink its done, literally a blink.

You pretty much answered your own question.
Every action performed on a device requires a read, write, or both (but mostly read). The faster that occurs, the faster and smoother the performance will be.
So while it'll help with the actual "movement" of files, it also speeds up access times and the overall interactions between the device's components.
It's all about removing bottlenecks from hindering the device from doing its job.

This ss is at idle, recent apps cleared, and after nothing but viewing some pictures in the gallery:

Few minutes later, As I'm typing this, this is how it's running:
These are taken in normal room temperature. Im curious what temperatures you all are running at? and what you guys feel is "normal"?
It doesn't really ever run below 40c currently and I'm not sure if these temps are healthy behavior. 50c in my hands doesn't exactly feel "comfortable"...

I'm rooted, installed xposed , flashed the fixes and debloater and have both greenify and amplify running, running way better than it ever did stock...mine was buggy out of the box but now it's pretty dang smooth here's the whole guide of you haven't already been this far http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...sed-unroot-t3411039/post67605246#post67605246
I'm stock and never rooted. I can say that this phone gets way too hot. Doesn't seem normal at all.
So exchanged my regular S7 for an Edge, and it's thermals are way better. Running around 34c. May have just been poor thermal pad contact...

Well it's a larger phone with more surface area. Maybe that's why?
