Hey dudes,
Everyone's been asking me to show off some of the EVO's camera's features. Well, we've all seen that. So, instead, I've taken a ton of photos and tried to grab everyone on Flickr's EVO 4G photos and consolidate them all into one group, thus the HTC EVO 4G Flickr pool - view it over here.
http://www.flickr.com/groups/evo4g/pool/
And, if you're interested in some photos taken with some tweaked settings in broad daylight - I took a set at the boardwalk today of my friends. Here it is:

What do you think? Add your photos to the HTC EVO 4G pool if you've taken some good ones WITH or OF the device!
Oh, also, a great thing to note is how EPIC the geotagging is on this device. If you're a huge geotag buff like I am, this is HTC's quickest geotag lock on any device. Maybe that's because of the A-GPS working super well, or maybe HTC has tweaked their software to grab a lock much quicker, and notify you of so on the screen. Anyone else?
The quality doesn't look very good, especially when it comes to shadows. Lots of artifacts in general.
Here for example

They should focus on improving image quality and not the number of megapixels the camera has
God this is beat like a dead horse in every forum for every "phone with a camera"... picture quality will not (in the foreseeable future) be anywhere near a point and shoot or DSLR. It just won't. Those with expectations of such are setting themselves up for a big let down with every new release.
To the OP, thanks for the great pool of photos and taking the time to compile them. Great Work!

I'm not expecting the quality of a modern point and shoot, i'd settle for the quality of one that's 5 years old. I just want some freaking clarity, they look fine small, but when you look at them at large resolutions it looks like a watercolor.
I want to buy a telephone but the photo and video quality is very important for me. I watced IPHONE 4 video and EVO video in youtube. But I have seen that IPHONE is better than EVO. What about in Desire HD? video and photo please?

/\ thred on photo / video quality
What is the result? It means?
Humm
well no one really knows ... the iPhone 4 takes amazing pictures .... but as the HD isnt out and when the test shots where taken the HD wasnt on a final rom, its very hard to say.
Id go for the HD myself as the pictures will be very good no matter what (maybe not quite as good as the i4 maybe better), And the specs are soo much batter than the i4 (Bigger Screen, More RAM ect.)
And dont forget
Android > iOS

Just do what i did mate, i bought a iPod Touch 4G (for video, gaming, music, and HD Video capture), and i preordered a Desire HD(for GPS, internet browsing, E-Mail and google calendar.
And you have the best of both ecosystems
But Android still rules, apple has its uses

And on that note...thread closed. Question need s to be address on the "Questions about DHD" thread

as seen in all other forums, i thought it was about time we had our photo-posting thread ready. *rubs hands*

im a hobbyist photographer
i'm wondering, perhaps you(or someone) could do a well set up test of the camera of the note 2? i'm curious about the performance as mine is yet to arrive.(eta 1 week)
test setup example:
a full size(detail) daylight, shimmer, shimmer with flash, night and night with flash, macro and distant would be nice to see a comparison of, and if you have one, a reference card (i.e. contrast and color range) ISO range test (noise) and is the white balance with flash alright?
all this information would be nice to have available (perhaps post results to wiki)
Anyone else notice pictures and videos coming out dark?

I can't see any pictures in this thread. Please post some again so i can see what this device is capable of.

Performance
Could you also comment on the performance of the camera in terms of shutter lag and speed of camera app launched from lock screen?
Here's a HDR mode shot
And a lil standard pic
Thanks for these, although they are downsized quite a bit from the fullres originals they look very good with sharpness and few if any visible artifacts common to cellphonecameras. Except for the second image which has a blown out sky and a bit strong contrast on the chrome parts.
Keep the pics coming, i wanna see more!

A few more randoms from work i just snapped
Thanks for the photos guys, please post more...I can't wait to get stuck into my GN2!
Wow those are crisp and sharp! it seems to expose pretty well. This is exciting news!
I see some colornoise in some images, but it's not bad at all..

More images please... I'll be posting a few as soon as I have the phone.
In the shade
In the sun
Looking good Twistedchild420, thanks.
Thanks guys^^^^^^
Here is a gem from earlier
seems like the Note II's cam firmware tend to overexpose and wash out the colours a bit by default.
unless u do some further tweaking in settings like what OP did, then u should be able to get good photos. I think a cam fw update is required to improve the image quality. I will judge again when there's more sample pictures (shot in default auto settings).
Not mine, but from Note 2.
Here you can find many Note 2 vs Galaxy S3 and some Note 2 photos.
I implore you to go to www.wallbase.cc to download some of the wallpapers there. You can search random at the resolution of your liking. Here is a direct link to random wallpapers @ 2560 X 1600 which compliments this tablet perfectly:
http://wallbase.cc/random?section=w...x1600&thpp=32&purity=100&board=21&aspect=0.00
Do not save the thumbnail. Click the one you want, it will open the big picture in another tab, save that, then go view that in your gallery.
Prepare......your eyes will melt
Just trust me. I've been using wallbase for years on my desktop but nothing compares to a high res photo on the Galaxy Note 2014. Simply amazing!
They have some nice pictures. It amazes me how many people apparently have a picture of some scantily clad lady as their background, almost half of the pictures on random mode are of that variety. I never understood why you would want that on your tablet always, for everyone to see, when you hand the tablet to your mom, your co-worker...
Anyway, what I actually wanted to ask: Wouldn't you want the wallpaper to be wider than the screen resolution? Otherwise it would have to zoom into the picture to be able to scroll the image when you switch homescreen pages. Or did you disable that?

Actually not........
2560 x 1600 is the best for viewing but if you want it for wallpaper the smallest resolution should be 2560 or as close as possible.
Interfacelift.com has photos up to 3840 x 2400, they have a dropdown box that you pick the size that you want from.

I see...my wallpaper is stationary so that resolution works for me that's how the note 2014 came out of the box.
Thanks for the link will definitely check that out. Always good to have more options!
Thanks for sharing bro, This makes the tablet even better . This is really appreciated
i don't know if this is compatible with the new Note 10.1 but Samsung Display has released an app that has some awesome eye-popping wallpapers included in it

Thanks for sharing.
I stocked on some 1600p wallpapers just to have them resized, but then found this app, its a "fake" live wallpaper, allows to set a pic as wallp w/o cropping or resizing it one bit and big thankz to the guy who posted 2400p wallpaper link!
edit: teh app also allows to set a different/separate pics for portrait and landscape.

You filmed it the wrong way. Thumbs down
Yes.. That vertical letterbox makes it unwatchable. I only lasted a few minutes. Too distracting
I may not be a professional youtuber (yet ) but the best advice I can give you is maybe get your camera/camcorder a tripod so the camera is still and do it that way otherwise very strange but great video!
Was this meant to be a joke?
