Have provided a potential solution to this on the "official" forum. The OTA utility should have at least flagged the updates to you ... root or no root. Maybe an opportunity to try Koshu's ROM if you can't get the ICS Lenovo update to work.

I'm new android user, and I want to know if there any news about the update for 4.4 kitkat (an official one),
or there is any google update for it (for the samsung i9505 regular version) that I can install and it is stable?

[Q] OTA updates on rooted device ??

Hi, please help me.
I was wondering, whether do we get OTA updates after rooting the phone ?
If a rooted device does not get OTA updates, does unrooting it help to get them back?

I *think* you can only manually update to a developer version once you have rooted. Could be wrong though.

Download and install Developer ROM for your device model from the official MIUI website.
Developer ROM is pre-rooted and gets OTA updates almost weekly.

if u like root permissions and want to have ota updates as well

No updates till now. May be we will get 5.1.1
